Even back in the day it was so hit or miss, TNG kind of revived the franchise but I remember watching, but with different writers and directors for like 700+ episodes constantly fluctuating. You can't have consistency, like how star wars was directed by Lucas then was directed by others for episodes 5 and 6.

The take away from this is that without a consistency of command there can be no stable production, kind of like Kubrick on The Shining when he would allow the actors to make the scenes fluid and not restrict them to the paper of the script.

This is not about Star Trek Discovery its more of a theory about how the who of star trek has become as dry and stale as the banners of old wars.

It's not negative its just not an internally constant universe.

Way to take the exact point I made in the Janeway hate thread and make a whole thread about it.

Idk about that. The format may be a bit old but if they had at least tried the format, at least we would know if it's too stale.
But I don't think it is because there have been countless shows since Star Trek that have basically used that exact format to make countless sci fi shows with all kinds of different premises.

Episodes 1-6 were directed by Lucas, though he had varying involvement after the first one.

Lol no.

Irvin Kershner directed Empire Strikes Back and Richard Marquand did Return of the Jedi. Lucas wanted to get Spielberg to do 6 but the directors guild demanded that Lucas put the credits at the beginning of the film, so he had to go with Marquand.

They are, and Spielberg wanted to direct it, but was a member of the Directors Guild of America or some such. According to the guilds rules at the time, any director had to have the credits at the beginning of the film they made, or be kicked out of the guild. Credits at the beginning would have ruined the Iconic scrolling epilogue, so it was a no go.

nb for Star Wars.
