1701tube moved to cytu_be aeons ago and we're much better for it. Taima.tv started sucking like over 2 years ago and will continue to suck because it needs work and work is work.

We'd be thrown off any of the other synchtube successor websites in an instant because they compile with DMCA requests and back down on illegal streaming. Taima.tv's advantage is being Canadian and ignoring America laws. The solution is to hope Kirtaner gets a chance to update Taima.tv rather than us moving.

Get ready for this: THEY'RE MOVING IT

To clarify, TTV is being moved to a newer server with twice the single core performance, so maximum capacity and load related lag issues should be about 40-70% improved over the current levels.

I assume we should save any playlists in case the transfer eats everything?

Will it receive a software update too since it lags behind the cy tube and synchtu be websites?

If nothing's changed in the last 6 months, it's being moved from a dual Xeon L5520 with 72GB RAM to a dual Xeon E5-2690v3 with 192GB RAM. For ease of understanding we'll just say from 8 Nehalem-era CPU cores at 2.2ghz to 24 Haswell-era CPU cores at 3.5ghz.

The problem: number of cores is irrelevant because the software that powers cytube, taimatv, etc is mostly singlethreaded and channels only scale with raw power

>Will it receive a software update too since it lags behind the cy tube and synchtu be websites?

cytu,be is run by the software's developer and will always be running whatever the latest bleeding edge stuff is, the big problem I can see here is all the effort put towards performance has been the ability to fit more, smaller channels on at the same time. Taima has a few channels that are EXTREMELY large, and the reason Kirt isn't running recent releases is due to heavy modification or straight up removal of features that negatively impact channels with 1000+ users connected.

If you go to the software's github page there's still an open issue ticket from 2014 where Kirt details this performance shortcoming and potential roadmaps to a solution, and the last work done on solving this, based on listed code changes, was in 2016, where per-channel splitting was possibly enabled.

Every update done to taima has been after a lengthy process of Kirt doing performance tests and stripping out whatever is needed to safely update without ending up losing overall capacity.

In a nutshell, cytube's software is not built for 1000+ people in a single channel, most of it has to be rebuilt from the ground up with that in mind, it's been "in progress" by the developers for 4 years, and the gist of it is there's no real need for them to do this whatsoever because the only reason any channel would routinely attract over 1000 people in it at the same time is because they're watching pirated content, which synchtu,be and cytu,be expressly forbid and ban channels for.

Going back to the hardware it's on now, Taima is pretty much only using 1/10 of the hardware available to it, the only solution is upgrades that increase single-threaded performance.

If I got any details wrong feel free to correct me Kirt.

Cy Tube got hit with a DMCA notice once which made them kill leddit's WWE channels. If they get the notices they will take shit down, most don't seem to give a toss though. They aren't directly hosting content, they're just taking videos and streams from elsewhere.

Synch Tube had some server hiccups which wiped their entire shit too.

WWE, RoH and UFC are judicious about it.
