Worst comics you've read recently by Hugh Fucklenene - Wed, 25 May 2016 08:40:32 EST ID:YaPhTZBh No.41987 Ignore Report Quick Reply

What are your worst recently read comics and why?

Fall of Cthulhu:
fucking ugly drawings!
How the hell am I supposed to get into the story
when everything is painted like puke?

I think most of the early Avengers-Comics
Cliche dialogue
cliche action shots
cliche storylines

They young teen titans.
need I say more?

The boy who cried wolf rock.
Just look.

The Red Box:
Wall of text with minimal change of scenery.

anyone ever read heathcliff? I know some newspaper comics are supposed to be bland but god damn. at first I didn't believe the hype about how boring and pointless it was and tried to read some of it. now I know that strip deserves every ounce of criticism it gets.

>>42193
I remember liking the bee and puppycat pilot episode but I never paid attention to the series after it was kickstarted. wasn't aware any comics existed either, but that page you posted is awful holy crap. is it drawn by the same person who created the show or did they hire an amateur? cause I remember her blog having well drawn art on it, and that picture is just god awful. it reminds me of the old Archie Nights into Dreams comics, or really any time Archie Comics tried to do anime style stuff back in the 90s and early 00s. it's worth reading just to laugh at how they fuck up the anatomy on every single page.

that was a pretty great comic

only dissapointment at the time was it was tenously existing as an ongoing and it was another nights mini series.

It's not exactly meant to be purely "american anime" or "anime style" more than it's trying to capture the relation that "anime style" would have to nights itself.

Just as Archie was originally tasked with the sat am characters of sonic even though the license was with sega and they continued sonic when it was dark in america. Nights was in whatever style that Sonic Series had developed which wasn't like much else at Archie to be frank.

We didn't get to see much else like it until it got another chance with the megaman comics.

So i wouldn't know what to compare Nights to but it definitely came out of the same Artistic neighborhood as Sonic the hedgehog comics, and i believe was written and drawn by the same people.

It was more of Nights a japanese idea, and source material, in an American Comic.

And it was a little bit before manga and anime was accepted as a big seller even though we know it did sell.

I'm still waiting for a Rebirth comic that catches my interest. The Gotham and Gotham Girl reveal in the Batman series might lead to something fun, but for the rest I'm cautious of the stuff DC puts out.

And I'm definitely not sure what to think about the upcoming Teen Titans run with Damian. I'm hoping he becomes less of a cunt with his recent developments and him teaming up with Supes' kid.

the pilot inspiring the kickstarter was rather impressive. at least I liked it. I remember it building a lot of hype around when the kickstarter happened so that's probably why it got funded. I googled it a bit I guess they hit some snags and took forever to make episodes after they got funded, that ended up being less detailed and well animated than the pilot. Not surprising, animation is crazy expensive. the only one I've seen that was honest about that was the John K kickstarter. and he only wanted to make one short. now the comics are cancelled and the show has been put on an obscure subscription only service even if you paid for it.

well,
there ARE some exceptional fantastic hero-comics if you just ignore the stone-age and bronce-age of comics!

Try some new Black Widow or Batman Hush!

Worst Comic I've read some days ago must have been
"Hotline Miami 2 Wrong Number 1 - 5".

They removed the colours, the drawing.style turned into shit and the overall asthetic was just ugly and boring.
Even the "story" was so forced and shitty.
Everything in these comics, from 1 - 5 screams

So this didn't actually start off terrible. Just standard light hearted super hero fare (it's Wolverine so it really shouldn't have ever been that) but my god was this series terrible. I'm a x-23 fan so I stayed along but I just ended up skimming the last few issues. We've gotten rid of the trigger scent which made her dangerous to others. They gave Wolverine a no kill code which was very exciting to watch and a wise cracking little clone sister who's friends with everyone's favorite rapist Daken! All New All Different Marvel and this comic was just the same as everything else. Rant/

you need to get your eyes checked.

If you want to see art that matches the lovecraftian style
you need to take a look into the Dark Souls Comic Sereis of "fire".

Just because something is drawn like shit and with no effort,
doesn't mean its "art".

Just read R.L. Stine's Man-Thing mini from last year.

It is so vomit-inducingly abhorrent that I suspect it's on purpose. You can ignore continuity, you can betray characterization, but the actual story flow is non-existent. I remember his choose-your-own-adventure Goosebumps books eking out more structure & consistency.

It's not like he's gone senile either; he tacks on ~5 page OC horror stories to the end of each issue that read like Stephen King in comparison to this sludge. It's honestly as if he looked at an old-school horror character, a new-school desensitized audience, and took the job as a challenge to SCARE the jaded adult comic-reading demographic in the most genuine way he could; pretending to be retarded & canonizing the result. It's meta-horror. Ironic shitposting, published & paid-for.
