need cool reference photos by Nigel Buzzstone - Fri, 23 Dec 2016 00:13:32 EST ID:hiSs6OxO No.51475 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

I bought a new sketch book and want some cool reference photos to practice.
Anyone have some photography to share? Preferably some that would translate well into sketches but any will do.

Pretty interesting stuff, though you might wanna diversify your colour usage.
You might wanna study colour theory in general, it'll give your art a huge boost, I like what I see so far, I'm no artist (nor a proper art critic) but I think that creating some kind of artificial border around different objects would make your art more striking, and you could draw attention to certain things in the frame, if you were to apply colour theory to this end aswell it'd surely improve your works.

Pretty good shit OP. I like what you've done so far.

The rotten ronnies one stands out to me because it's the only one I can find a concrete message in. I find the third one intriguing and evocative, but I can't quite put it all together for some reason.

Keep it up man, there's good potential here.

They remind me of those old interactive movie, point and click adventure games from the 90s but with a psychological twist. Kinda like Darkseed 2 and Harvester.

they're good. im not sure on critism or constructive feedback because im not entirely sure on your direction.

I love the washed out colours, more than anything else in the work, i enjoy the drawings too, so again not sure where you're going what your plans are, i like them.

What are your materials?

i enjoy https://www.instagram.com/p/BNrrCwYl_kP/?taken-by=maghx_em the most.

That sucks about the housefire.
I hope this doesnt come off as offence, but when i first seen your work i thought it would be perfect for political/social commentary, like you know those political cartoons? i think your syle would be wonderful for that, i think you should give it a go, find a social issue and draw about it and see how it turns out.
I mostly say this because your style is kind of haunting and dark but at the same time has a certain serenity to it which balances it all out and you kind of change in between the darkness and the calmness.

So if you want a direction to jump off on, i'd say find a current affair or political issue and do a drawing about it, do a trump cartoon where hes picking some person for his cabinet or whatever i dunno lol.

i hope it was atleast some kind of image where they were like "yeah use this pic for whatever" and you havent just stolen some random pic from the internet.

I've searched high and low for rainbow filters, psychedelic filters, color cycling filters, as well as tutorials for them and reverse searched the images themselves, but found nothing except a basic hue changing script. I use GIMP, if that makes a difference.

Adobe after effects. You're looking for the 'Hue shift' filter, but you will need to learn how to use after effects to generate it, then another software such as photoshop to render it to a gif or video.

Also the Gradient Map filter with the default rainbow adobe preset to get a full rainbow happening.

There is a steep and retarded learning curve, but it is worth it so persevere.

Good luck

Smell the roses along the way
