After presenting an animation production company by a web in order to get work in 2006, it spread over all over the world.

A Japanese cinema fan, a fan of special effects and an animation fan have taken no notice of this thing.

You other talented peeps know how it was. You were that special kid who could draw better than the others. I was too.

Except that as soon as I got a computer I flushed it all down the toilet and geeked my ass off on FPS's

Now I'm 27. Is it even rational to expect to catch up to others and get good at this again, enough to do decent comics or animation, or have I missed my chance?

I have tons of ideas. I really wish I could draw well again and put them on paper. But the end result is always damn depressing.

How do you work with tilesets? Specifically, what would be the easiest way to extract individual images from a tileset image? I assume there's image editing software that can grid it and save each cell individually, but what would be the most ideal for something like this?

Also, what would be good to limit palette and resolution, in order to create something simple and balanced? Allowing too much freedom and precision is just gonna end up in a sloppy mess with someone inexperienced like me, so knowing how to set some boundries would really help shape it.

These have been the major hurdles that have stopped me from diving farther in game design, and they're not even that major.

Raspbart Chucklevest - Mon, 11 Jan 2016 10:47:42 EST ID:HBlqQrzQ No.50175 Ignore Report Quick Reply

If god-tier trolling is getting a reaction out of people in outrageous or clever ways then Green...sometimes did so...

But for me good trolling isn't so much about upsetting people as entertaining people. Anything creative can't come from a false place of malice or it just falls flat.

I did some fine trolling myself in my better days on IMDb and the spoony experiment forums. Multiple replies and arguments stemming from a single post, kept people entertained I guess.

No, I hate how people try to broaden the definition to make it apply to everything.

You could be a master at farting and get some really great reactions from people, it doesn't make it an art.

Yes it does. Why wouldn't it?
What's the functional difference between playing a piece of beautiful music in public and the act of farting in a packed elevator if both impact ten different people?
Archie Bizzleway - Sat, 23 Jan 2016 23:29:03 EST ID:Me2hn+MA No.50218 Ignore Report Quick Reply
Terrible post.
>Why fart in the elevator? Because its funny to you?
Because it affects people and incites small-scale societal change.
>they calculated and planned and spent years toiling at their craft.
Art doesn't have to be a concentrated effort. There's no threshold at which something becomes 'art'. If I spend two years pressurizing my rectal cavity with silly string, farting in that elevator isn't any more 'art' than if I'd done it spontaneously. If an artist sacrifices ten years, his food and water money, and his appearance to work on a masterpiece it's no more 'art' than a Rothko painting that took less than an hour to make by smearing similar colors over a canvas.
>dedicate your life to annoying people on the internet, but just remember if it doesnt evoke change innsociety then youre just a comedian.
Comedy is art too.
> Because they evoked change in the world, george carlin said fuck censorship, bill hicks said youre being lied to, marketing is lies and fuck the government.
That took me a while.
go fuck yourself

Artists stealing concepts? by Reuben Billingfoot - Wed, 05 Aug 2015 02:39:17 EST ID:SF8IYVs6 No.49566 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

Hey guys.

how do you deal with people stealing your concepts?

there has been a guy who has copied 2 of my paintings, but in his own style and stole the meaning behind the paintings and selling it as his own.

its not a coincidence because one of the paintings i did was from december 14 and a week after i put mine online he has his, with the same title, the same meaning behind it, but its his own painting.

am i just being paranoid or what?
is this common and should i get used to it?

Ive had the same problem. I just block the guy on social media and make my some of my accounts private and change my account names so nonfollwers can see my work. Also don't let him see your shit, however if he does he can never make the piece exactly like you do. I don't mind someone coping elements of my style and learning form it, but to steal a piece concept in all and call it yours and not give in any credit to the original creator boils me. This same guy does the same to some of my artist friends in town too.

The only thing that stands out to me is the positioning of the sword. If she's supposed to be holding it straight up-and-down, with a 90-degree angle to the ground, the tip should be much further out from her foot. Try making a background layer and drawing a straight line where her spine is, and then where you want the sword to run parallel to it - then you can lasso that mafacka and nudge it into place!

But then, I can also see how you might be trying to make her upper body pop out, sort of like her feet are the point on a triangle whose flat end gets wider as it goes toward the viewer. Still, something feels off - the sword may just need a little moving in that case.

How do you usually handle outlining? Do you have any other finished paintings I can see? Here's a quick pic I drew up of a character I'm designing (not her final outfit, but was going more for body structure practice). Something about the way I've been drawing since childhood has conditioned me to outline everything and color within, but I rarely can make super neat and clean lines - so I've been experimenting with rough, sketchy-looking ones like in this picture. Is this a road to ruin, or can I make something out of this method? Or should I just try to paint without lines at all? I'm wanting to launch a comic, so simple lighting without detailed blending would be ideal.

One more thing!

I use Autodesk Sketchbook Pro 6, primarily. I haven't actually drawn or painted in Photoshop in a long time. Have you ever used ADSP? It's very affordable, so you can own it legit for cheap. As a consequence, it lacks layer masking and a few other nice PS featuers, but it has a great rotation mechanic that lets you spin the canvas around by touching the 9 and 0 keys. It's also got a handy library of Copic marker colors for quick use, and a generally good pencil tool.
