He said he'd call me at 9 so we could get together for our date. But he didn't call, so by 10:30, I got drunk in an extremely short amount of time, and fell asleep.

When the thirst woke me up some three hours later, I saw my phone, and he had called me at 11:30, even though he said he'd call at 9. I replied to him with an apology, telling him "I assumed the plan was off after 10:45 and having not heard from you."

But see, the bastard has now made it MY fault. Now I'm the flake, because he technically did contact me, even if two hours late.

What the fuck - we're supposed to be gay. Why all this roundabout crap, that women do? Fuck, he pisses me off. And knowing how self-absorbed he is, he's not even going to ask to reschedule or anything, and I'm tired of doing it, since it just makes me look like the needy and clingy one.

You should just swear off men and go back to women.

(Or maybe realize both men and women could be playing games, it's about personality not sex)

A similar thing happened between me and my ex, and I just can't stand those stupid misunderstandings. Just don't bother with him -- it's what I did. Dump him and stop worrying about it. Lots of other fish in the sea.

I think that if there are issues between you and your partner even on the planning of dates, then this relationship isn't ever going to work anyway.

This might be an unpopular opinion but if he is often late for all things and that's just the type of person he is then maybe it is your fault for expecting him to change and be on time.

On the other hand some people get upset with others when they make a mistake.

Either way forget about them.

>isn't punctual
>actually tries to shift blame as an adult

Sounds like a poor personality, sorry to hear that, OP. If I had a date with a guy who was actually interested in me, I'd be sure to let them know immediately if anything came up that was holding me back from being on time.

Shifting blame is also never acceptable IMO. It's usually the first taste of more poor behavior to follow.

You know, it is possible to call or text him. If you wanted to know if the plan was still on it's not like you were helpless and couldn't do anything to find out. You both suck dick.

Man, I love this thread. It's like a deep discussion heavily centered on interpretations which ultimately fall short to the larger picture of what really happened.

Flakiness is a generational malaise. The mobile age has given people free reign to show zero accountability. Much broader than gender or geography. There are only a small minority of us left who think it's good form to tell people when you're going to be late, or if plans are cancelled; some of us even have the audacity to show up on time for things.

Yeah the "fairness" a flawed concept of our mind well enough to get the convo flowing, so I meet him every day in extreme nausea and often would respect their enemies adopting whatever they found useful from their culture and humanity and the collective of organelle that make up your mind.

Ultimately, i feel suspicious about OP's boyfriend. Why often so late and why is it never him that reschedules? Some one said he was shifting blame when he got angry at op for not answering but others say op was in the wrong for not calling.

In my mind OP and op's date are nervous around each other but want each other.

You know, I do think there's something to the idea that the extreme seeking behavior involved in interacting with electronic screens causes dopamine depletion and social anxiety. It's like we're all becoming drug addicts just hitting that refresh button for the next hit of dopamine released from seeing a stupid cat picture or a status about gossip and it's making everyone more afraid to actually interact with one another among other things.

Some doctor has treated children who she has diagnosed with electonic screen syndrome by making them abstain from electronic screens for three weeks and she says it solves all sorts of problems.
