do you get sick of working a low income job? by Lu Bu - Fri, 12 Jan 2018 21:56:08 EST ID:ceIgB2XI No.4660443 Ignore Report Quick Reply

What is it that keeps you going everyday. I guess this is for those of us who haven't yet accomplished anything and you're still working a "bad" job. I think they're all bad, working just sucks but you've got to live.

Do you have a mission /b/? I haven't figured out mine yet. This world scares me. I smoke weed a lot because it helps me cope with this life.

I'm building a sound station. It started out as a washtub bass but since then has evolved to get rid of the tub, and added amplifiers, pedals, and woodblock percussion sounds. Currently there are a lot of improvements I wish to make to it but I am in between jobs so I don't have the funds to build shit right now. At least I have a ton of time for practice though.

Anyway, it is my mission to get this thing good enough to perform with on a stage one day.

I got sick of working a no-paying job.

Completely sick.

But everyone there would have non of it. They were too fucking fanatically obsessed with playing office. And with trying to shove "an example" of should-isms onto someone or another.

Bloated cities are just scum. All scum. That goes for the kinds of citties where faux-jobs fly smoothly, and those where they don't. It goes for the mindless fucks eager to build these kinds of things up, and the petty fucks eager to quickly, casually utilize them.

At least with internships, there's boundaries on how far they'll go, but then you can't trust the internship expectation to just get progressively worse and worse.

I look at rappers, actors, famous musicians, and I'm like how? Where do these people find what they excell at. the majority of the people I meet don't know what they're doing either. I'd say it's more realistic to not know than to know. I just don't get it.

yeah I think you have to be a certain level of lucky in addition to dedicated and talented.

on this particular question I suppose it's my opinion that you should do whatever you enjoy, and in fact you might not have much choice about that depending on your impulse control.

>I look at rappers, actors, famous musicians

There's your fucking problem. You're talking about maybe a thousand people with actual name recognition out of a pool of tens of thousands who have seen absolutely no success and the even larger pool of 7 billion people on earth.
Now consider the fact that approximately one million people commit suicide each year worldwide and ask yourself why not you?

I have a lot of thibgs I enjoy. But nothing that would particular make me mone. The things enjoy are simply hobbies I use to pass the time. This is sorta the current dilemma I feel with public schools in anerica. They're teaching us to be workers not helping us find what were passionate about.

yeah it seems like pretty much everybody just does some bullshit job completely unrelated from what they're interested in, because that's what you have to do to survive. all i can say is to cherish your free time and always keep trying new things, maybe especially new things that might make you money. there are plenty of people who manage a compromise between their passions and their livelihood. also, it's nice if your career doesn't destroy your body or mind in the process.

The trick is to figure out what you enjoy that is also a skill of some kind, like playing an instrument, woodworking, or painting. If you can find something like that in which you enjoy doing in your free time, do it as often as you possibly can. Eventually you'll be good enough that you can start making money doing something you're passionate about. If you can manage to keep at it (which can be difficult if you're drained from working your regular job, taking care of a family, etc.) then eventually, if you're actually good at it, you might be making enough money that you could quit your regular job.

Looking up a few posts it appears someone has already mentioned something about hobbies that can make money. I currently in my free time am an artist and a musician. I draw, do woodworking, leatherworking, and I play several different instruments as well as produce digital music for fun when I'm high as fuck on good drugs. I already get commissions for drawings, and I've had someone pay me to build them an authentic looking pirate chest, which I did.

These are all just things I've been doing for fun in my free time, but if I actually applied myself I could already be well on my way to working for myself doing things I'm actually really passionate about. I'm also super depressed a lot sometimes and had a really hard time not killing myself the past two years, so I'm really only just getting back on track right now with my hobbies.

Keep at it, op, you'll find something to do with your life that feels fulfilling.

I've had severe depression that has lasted for at least five years. Somethibg pretty big happened that I personally believe altered how I perceive life. Im trying my best to hang in there at the moment and life does feel like being on a hamster wheel.

The things I do enjoy definitely keep me afloat. I feel like I do t have the time anymore to devote myself to them And when a girl comes along and wants to know about those things,I feel like it's not enough. It's not enough to make me interesting or cool even though I'm being genuine and telling her what I enjoy.

My collection of books and the fact that I enjoy reading has definitely interested a couple of girls. But really when I think of a handsome interesting guy a girl wants to date, I don't think they really are seeking out a expeditioner of hard to read literature. That's not gonna impress most women.

I guess all of this purpose, finding one and accomplishings has left my head in a bit of a mess. I can't enjoy anything anymore because I'm told by society I'm not living up to my potential because I don't have a half a million dollars in the bank in my twenties.

Then I realized that there's so many people out there who just don't fucking know what they're doing. I have no clue. It just perplexes me that there are people that it came so easy to.

Life is so weird. So short and it seems like all some us were meant to do was make money for someone else. There's not another way?

There is no way except finding a way to enjoy yourself as much as possible during your short life. Finding a balance. Nobody gets to take their stuff with them and we're all alone when we punch our ticket so we just need to make as much out of it while we're here.

Just don't be hard on yourself and work on bettering yourself, your position and enjoying yourself. If you do better yourself, things will come your way including girls.

I feel like I've found the thing that keeps me going, and I've also turned it into my job. I talk with my friends about this, and I feel really lucky to have found this thing really early in my life (like when I was 9 years old), and being lucky enough to have kept at it and it remained interesting).

In my life, I have refused to work for less than I can live comfortably on, but at times I have found myself at odds with what I am doing. I recently retired from an operations management position at a medical chemical distribution firm. Although I was salary, the first two years I was at the company I found it very easy to work many hours of overtime November through December 2014, I worked 41 days straight, typically 10 to 12 hour shifts, because we had to re-adjust production lines to harmonize with new policies set up by Fresenius.

I don't quite know when it happened but at some point something snapped the job stopped being something I could be passionate about; whether it was burn out, or the shitty clients returning entire trailers because a single pallet was stacked incorrectly, or being yelled at by the Bosnian bitch in accounting, or a combination of these things, I just began to dread it and went to work on a mix of booze and uppers.

This year in March I had enough and told the other managers I was selling my stock and ending it, which I finally did in May. I used the money to buy a condo and spent all summer drunk.

I guess I'm retraining into IT now and I hope this is a better fit.

My goal in life is to just become as self-sustainable as I can whilst also providing comfort and security to my parents in their later years.

I have a Bachelors,TEFL qualification and work experience so am equipped to deal with the world. My overall life plan is buy land and build my own house. Learn gardening, lutherie, smithing, brewing, carpentry, etc and just live for myself/family. Obviously I can never be totally independent, but I want to be as autonomous as possible. I'll need a career and a good paying job to be able to support any of these projects. At the moment I work in a factory and am saving up to move to Asia so I can start teaching English (I have CELTA). I'd like to get work experience in that and move up the ranks, and make some serious dollar. Though that will take time and perseverance. Alternatively I might do a Masters in Translation (I studied French at university), as translators are paid very handsomely, especially specialist ones (like simultaneous interpreters). But robots are starting to out-date the translation as a professional field so we'll see.

I don't really know man. This world scares me too and I also smoke a lot of weed for escapism. All I want to do is be happy and leave a positive impact on the world around me, and look after my family and loved ones. That is my ultimate goal, really.

For me; I've had long periods in my life with nothing to do, and while it might seem like a dream if you work 5-6 days a week and never get time off, it isn't. Days and weeks and months with no purpose just lead you to fill it with petty shit, you can get some bursts of productivity in your empty time, but it's not much. Having experienced that level of ennui has led me to feel that even working a shit job is preferrable to having no job and no prospects.

That said, I'm currently working as a cook and I've bought into the industry's bullshit about it being a tough job that you need to have a passion for, even though I don't really have that passion. I still love putting out delicious food and being able to make people happy with (at this point) very little effort on my part. Cooking is autopilot mode for me, I just let the muscle memory kick in, so it is fulfilling in a sense but it's certainly not sustainable as a long term career.

To use your mission analogy; I feel like I've been playing sidequests for the last 15 years, eventually I'll get around to starting the main quest, but I haven't really decided what class to be yet.

This will probably make me sound stupid, but ever since I was a child I wanted to be a professional boxer so I could make millions of dollars and then use that money to do good in the world. I'm like 6'3 and 220 pounds right now. I'm in better shape than most people I know, but I'm definitely not anything special. I probably wouldn't even make a decent amateur fighter. But I read about George Foreman continuing to box and be a champion as an old man, so I try to exercise everyday so that one day I can just drop everything and do that. It's probably a stupid dream, I have no natural talent, but there you go.

I haven't worked in over a year honestly. I'm just living with roommates and off my savings. I study everyday, I've written hundreds of shitty poems, I study Spanish and shit. For whatever reason I practice touch typing everyday, I have no idea why. I went from being able to type 60 words per minute up to an average of about 120 and sometimes 130. It's such a stupid fucking skill to have, but it's something I've developed over the past months. I'd like to buy a piano and hope to get one some day, that'd be fucking sweet.

I have no idea what I'm doing with my life. I'm going back to school to get a fish farmer certification or some shit, so I can be a humble fish monger. I think I just want enough money to continue to do what I'm doing right now, and maybe one day I'll wake up with enough skills to make a difference in the world. We're being replaced by robots that will one day cause us to be hopelessly outclassed both physically and mentally. We're destroying the world, people starve to death. I don't know what I'm dooooiiiinnnnngggg

Booze and dxm mostly can't blaze anymore cuz I got arrested for some dumb shit but I still grab a cool g of h whenever I go to my hometown and that still only lasts me a night, maybe 2... Damn opana, mdone and IV dillie ruining my tolerance. Guys gotta pay bills tho right?

I fantasize about getting hit by a car whenever I go walking but I'm not unhappy I'd say 80% of the time just the free PK's and time off would be cool or if I died I think it's like hitting the reset button and maybe I won't make the same choices.

Maybe I should kinda sorta move to Mars I'm feeling done. Too many moving parts ya know? But just act natural whatever that means for u right?

Whatever just got a fresh fifth gonna drink and ignore life with tv.

>Do you have a mission /b/?

be an okay mother
don't have to be a great mother, just an okay mother

(the answer in this post assumed that "mission" is defined as like what is in your post-image where "mission" is on the opposite side of "profession")

That's the natural order of things and it's a sign of our society's long-term perversion that sissy boys weren't allowed to just resign their manhood and get plowed. If more boys were allowed to do that explicitly there'd be no school shootings. Not every man deserves manhood.

Nah its not about being a sissy. It's about losing attraction females. Don't think too much about it. Actually don't worry about another persons sexuality at all. Isn't this board more left leaning anyway? So you have a problem with gay men? But not a probably with feminism. Nevermind, your bias is showig.

The odds are that your brain is already mostly developed at this point. Factor in whether or not you had a traumatic upbringing and your brain might have already reached adulthood very early in life, causing developmental and learning disorders. Taking all this into account, you probably will do some "bad shat". If I were a betting man, I'd say that you probably wont take over the world or hold a college degree. Sorry for being brutally honest

So you believe that people know what's best for them? Obviously we need others to make judgements for us. Can you even say that you truthfully believe that a person's sexuality has anything at all to do with someone thinking for their self?

It has to do with someone getting a bad hand in life and having several shitty relationships with women and finding a guy that you can be comfortable enough with. Society is just now starting to accept that its okay for men to be gay too, when a woman is gay its soooo hot right? Who's to say you wouldn't jump ship either if it were more socially accepted? If it was okay for you to say that you were into guys would you consider having a relationship with a male?

I still personally do not believe that gayness ks something that happens to you in the womb. I laugh because when I was in school there were a bunch of women who claimed they were bisexual or lesions. It was almost like a fad. Rampant gayness among the student body of females. Apparently women are naturally attracted to women from birth. I think people choose to be gay. I've known gay men that still fucked chicks but dated men. It's a choice.

It's rich that you think anyone other than internet strangers would attempt to persuade you. Quit pretending that you have enough friends irl to risk ostracizing them, or is that why you are voicing your opinions on an image board?

Is that normal, for a single 28 year old male who has had two major psychotic breaks in the last twelve months from binging on lsd and dxm while living alone in an entirely too large house? Is that normal?

This is a good dream because it's my dream too. Professional athletes are the only people who can rise to a position in this world capable of influencing it without being corrupted by the system. All you have to do is master the skills and rise to the top and stay there long enough to make people pay attention to what you have to say. It's a shame more professional athletes aren't using their fame and fortune for good instead of just stroking their own egos. You should make a real go at becoming a pro.

senior anon here, well, i guess im not any older than most of u guys but i use to be a nerd so ive been through quite a few different situations

for a while i had a 9-5 job writing code and was making 5k a month and it was fucking horrible, most boring shit ever getting up early as fuck every single day i wanted to shoot myself

now, i have a job teaching college part time where i work only 4 days a week and only a few hours each day and make like half what i used to and, its a lot better, my dad gave me some money to invest in bitcoins i been doing some artistic stuff on the side and i can go to festivals. its really great, id need to teach more classes but thats not that much more work and i can do what i want and still like, have my own place and smoke weed all day. id still like to be doing more, you know id like to write a book and have some success and be able to go on vacations and get a new car and shit and do something more meaningful than just teach but, i have enough time to work on that stuff and im content in the short term.

but yeah idk i had a delivery job for a while and that was fucking horrible man. fuck that shit.

Don't try to adjust your hobbies or interests trying to become your perceived 'ideal male mate', but try to find someone who genuinely compliments your personality and likes you for who you are and maybe shares some of your passions.

This doesn't mean that you should be complacent or never change, we all have character flaws that should be tamed. But it is good to realize that someones flaws and strenghts are two sides of the same attribute; someone who is confident should be wary of being arrogant, someone who is very neat and organized can also at times be controlling or prone to anxiety and someone who is laid back and stress resistant is also prone to slacking off. Embrace, harness and utilize the positive aspects of your characters traits while trying to supress and guide their flip sides.

Thanks Beatrice! There are too many people wearing several layers of masks in romantic relationships, while that should be the person you can share most of yourself with. Keeping up appearances with the people closest to you will only lead to pain in the long run.
