Literally have a train track about maybe 600 ft from my apartment, hearing the trains run at night has become super cozy.

Likewise.

One of my friends had one more like 60 feet from the same line though and that was less cozy and more noisy, though it's quiet between 1am and 6am if there's no superheavy freight (there usually is around 3am). I've slept on his couch a few times or played games all night there a few times. I imagine being a good distance away so it's quieter than cars or birdsong is fine but another guy I know did a study on trains and the affect they have on sleep and found that a passing train pushes your heart rate up a bit for a few minutes. It doesn't entirely ruin sleep but it seems to affect it a bit.

I'm one house away from being right next to the track, but I live in a smallish town so it's not very busy and doesn't bother me. Sometimes there's super quiet freighters at night that apparently go out to the military base nearby which is interesting.

You have to get on board those trains.

You have to find out what they're up to.

My grandmother lived close to some train tracks, and I would go to sleep listening to the trains every night I was over there. Those are some of my best memories. Not even heroin felt as comfy.

I live in downtown Tulsa and there are train tracks right across the street from me. There’s no street crossings for them here so I don’t hear the horn but I can here that click clack and air powered stop sound.

It’s cool, makes me feel like I live in a big city. I moved here from the countryside with no money.

I'd love to live not far from train tracks. Very different from hearing planes flying overhead, which is isn't remotely soothing.

Makes me think of this track.

It's weird to me how many train track crossings there are down south, Florida specifically. Just been visiting and there's train crossings fucking everywhere. Where I live there's almost none of them.

I hear their horns off in the distance, which is chill and kind of calming in a way. Used to live right next door and that shit was wack
