If anything, I think it's fair to say that it's at least more original than Oceans 12. At least this one has different people

Sandra’s very sexually suggestive description of what it’s like to work with women:
>It felt like it was a long time coming. Too long if you ask me — which you did — but I’m just so grateful that it happened. It felt like we had all been kept in solitary confinement from each other. Kind of like an ‘actress quarantine’ and when we all found ourselves like sardines in the trailer that first day, it was like the dam burst and we all made up for lost time.

I don't understand why. Thelma and Louise is good.

The think is Hollywood is all about numbers now. It's a business, they make these movies because they make money.
Even that horrible cunty Ghostbusters remake made money.
Perhaps they are banking on feminist rabbit man hating lesbo Hillary supporters feeling obligated to go see these in the cinema.

Any confined space with women tends to get a bit fishy if you know what I mean.

> at least one Asian
> at least one Black
> optional Hispanic

These sorts of forced reboots only serve to emphasize that a certain kind of world does not exist, will not exist, and then people look around and notice this, and get really angry, throw a fit, isolate themselves in enclaves to suit their imaginary world view, become impossible to deal with or converse with, and the world becomes more fractured, polarized, disagreeable, uncooperative, counterproductive and unfulfilling as a result, and over generations the enclaves will become stifling prisons of a new orthodoxy of self-alienating assholes with pedantic demands, imagining that they've outsmarted everyone on the other side of the wall.

Ghostbusters wasn't even so bad because of the female cast. I don't really give a shit about the gender of any actor in a film. Annihilation was one of the best movies I've seen in the last year and the female stars were phenomenal. Ghostbusters was just a really, really bad movie by its own merit. Very generic rom-com soccer-mom-esque trash writing.

This. It's not about some womens revolution or social justice. It's about fads and making money of of these fads and trends. If I were a feminist I would be pissed off at this shit. Force feeding it is not helping anyone and makes the opposition even more pissed off. It's also just insulting that Hollywood acts like they have never had strong female leads before.

There are TONS of strong women in movies and it goes back for a long time. Making an entire cast women is fine but remaking old movies and changing the entire cast to women is an obvious ploy to cash in on weak minded slacktivists on facebook.

THESE WOMEN ARE SO STRONG AND BRAVE. *makes millions of dollars for staring in a remake of a dead franchise*. If you want to empower women then be a good actress. Be talented. Do dynamic roles. Act as a slut whore in one movie and then act as a strong politician in another. Be a drug addict. Be a depressed single mom. Be a lesbian. Be an action hero. Be dynamic. I can't understand how any shit ball movie like this is supposed to be empowering. Ghostbusters fart jokes are revolutionizing the world.

Dude, it's a remake of a remake of a sequel, I doubt any of this merits all THOSE randomly capitalized WORDS. This series was noise and light filled zombie way before this and is marketed at people that could give a shit less about content like the bed ridden elderly and vegetables. This will be their most successful movie just because they are striking while the iron and issue are hot, and it will be because a bunch of dipshits talk about it on the internet, not because of any kind of creativity or quality in the product itself. I imagine they flipped a coin, heads this movie would have starred Lego characters, tails it stars a bunch of women well into middle age.

I didn't think the movie was that good but am delighted to no end at the amount of angsty butthurt a super hero movie with a bunch of moolies has caused a certain portion of white America. It's almost as funny as the people that blindly say it was a perfect 10/10 movie just because only 2 people in the cast suffered from inherited albinism. Almost, but not quite as funny.

Blaxploitation never went anywhere, there is a whole white owned channel dedicated to it.

When will Hollywood have the balls to make the movie we all want to see, an all female Cannon Ball Run set in 2018 where Coors can be sold in all 50 states and there are no stakes, just a strong woman in a job you wouldn't expect her to have as someone who doesn't have 5'o clock shadow.

Then I want to watch a million dumb punchable faces on youtube talk about how culturally progressive and relevant it is/it's the end times and the harbinger of big government coming to force them into trannydom like a gay frog.

The more I read this the more I miss living in a world where one of the Kim family could have ended this at any time. I wish ISIS was more successful. We should remake Jonestown with millenials. I'll do 2 side by side remakes, kind of like how A Bug's Life and Antz, or American Me and Blood in Blood out are the same but different. One Jonestown will have a hip lady pastor with a buzz cut and the other will have a white fossil with a penis and an AR15. They'll be drinking the same anti-freeze and we can position their bodies in a bunch of funny ways and zombie joke post on their facefuck accounts.

I think the real problem here is that 17 years is too soon for a remake. Maybe they're doing a sequel or a prequel then? I think 11 years (since Oceans 13) is too long for that.
Hollywood is out of ideas butus talking about it is exactly the reason it will problably make enough money to be a success in their eyes.
Anyway /mtv/

It's not a remake. It's Danny Ocean's sister. Technically a sequel of sorts but who cares. It doesn't mean you are going to be marched to a theater to see it. Also, the original, with Frank SInatra, sucked as well as the reboot series with series with George Clooney..

Under the shimmering diversions of the spectacle, banalization dominates modern society the world over and at every point where the developed consumption of commodities has seemingly multiplied the roles and objects to choose from. The remains of religion and of the family (the principal relic of the heritage of class power) and the moral repression they assure, merge whenever the enjoyment of this world is affirmed–this world being nothing other than repressive pseudo-enjoyment. The smug acceptance of what exists can also merge with purely spectacular rebellion; this reflects the simple fact that dissatisfaction itself became a commodity as soon as economic abundance could extend production to the processing of such raw materials.

The celebrity, the spectacular representation of a living human being, embodies this banality by embodying the image of a possible role. Being a star means specializing in the seemingly lived; the star is the object of identification with the shallow seeming life that has to compensate for the fragmented productive specializations which are actually lived. Celebrities exist to act out various styles of living and viewing society unfettered, free to express themselves globally. They embody the inaccessible result of social labor by dramatizing its by-products magically projected above it as its goal: power and vacations, decision and consumption, which are the beginning and end of an undiscussed process. In one case state power personalizes itself as a pseudo-star; in another a star of consumption gets elected as a pseudo-power over the lived. But just as the activities of the star are not really global, they are not really varied.

That's an interesting take. I have a slight issue with the movement but for totally different reasons, but I can get where they're coming from. My issue is just that it's bandwagon bs. All these celebrities that stood by while it happened now get the good publicity of standing against it when in reality they stood with it.
