Just for being over all annoying. Barking non stop. Doing it at 2-4 am and 7-9 respectively my sleeping hours. I like animals. Not one of those who think animals lives should be valued more than humans. Although I'm not too big of a fan of people either.

you have to get your own, louder dog to out-bark their dog

>how irrational is it to want to hurt a mother-person's dog
It's completely rational if the mother-person is showing the dog more attention that it's showing you.

Tell them to take their stupid dog inside. Or get used to wearing hearing protection to bed.

Semi-rational. You'll probably get in trouble, that's why it's only semi, but in the laws of the jungle, it'd make perfect sense to kill a pest.

I hate dogs too, OP. Generally. I have dogs, they get on my nerves sometimes but I also consider them to be well-behaved. Other people's dogs, I can't stand them, because people don't train them. All they do is yap and yap and yap.

I may've been responsible for my neighbor's dog's death because it kept barking at me in the comfort of my own backyard.

Also you wanna know what absolutely grinds my gears? All these white female SJWs who every year take the internet ot rally against fireworks because "it scares dogs!" What a fucking world we live in, right? We can't even have fun anymore without upsetting a bunch of animals who shouldn't even belong in civil society. Dogs had a place in the early years od human civilization, as guards against animals and other people. As hunting tools. But now, I don't have to worry too much about a cougar or a jolly african-american breaking into my house. And I sure as fuck aint hunting rabbits. So why do we even have dogs anymore? Like I said, i have dogs, but it wasnt my choice. It was a family choice made 10+ years ago and when my dogs die, I will not be replacing them. Instead I'm going to have a garden, something i could never have before because dogs are PESTS.

My neighbors dogwould viciously attack the fence any time someonewould be in my backyard. Pit bull (horrible creatures). It was beyond obnoxious and a bit threatening. I pissed into his mouth and on his snout and shot him with an air soft gun a few times. I honestly considered throwing some poisoned meat over the fence many times.
The neighbor's always like "oh no he's harmless he just gets excited" but I truly beg to differ. That dog has torn apart pieces of the fence.
Finally I installed extra slats on my side so the dumb mutt can't see through it and he's calm now. Shameful that I had to pay for that.

Most dogs I've known had shitty owners, hence shitty dogs.

And I really hate the "oh he's harmless" routine, like I don't fucking know this creature that's capable of easily maiming me.

Get a rooster.

Or just put heavy amounts of rat poison along the fence. I mean you're just trying to control pests, right?

My neighbors dog is ridiculous. Well actually the owner is. His dog will come out and bark directly at my window for hours. But if I yell at it, the thing shuts up. Which tells me the owner is an irresponsible jackass and I hope his roof gets taken off during the next hurricane. Fuck that dude.

Dogs aren't pets, they are a full fledged responsibility. A fish in a bowl is a fucking pet. A dog is completely different, but people act like they're just these cute little pets they can just own like a hamster, it's ridiculous. Grow some balls and learn some fucking responsibility before you own a dog, you know? Dogs are great but these idiots fuck the whole idea up. Like why not just get a pet rock if you're not gonna give a shit about the thing?

The fact is that people who routinly do what they want without consideration for others are a disease which has ruined everything potentially good about humanity.
Lacking basic empathy and being with this fucking attitude of this life being your playground is reason enough for extreme violence.
No matter what anyone tells you, that's the difference between good and evil.
Current society, the average person is evil.
That person you're talking about is fully aware of what an annoyance the dog is.
The choice is between the desire to keep a dog and the well-being of the people who didn't choose to be victims of the selfish desire for something you don't need (unlike sleep for example).
Seeing as this sort of behavior is not only legal but is actually promoted through the values of modern society, putting "individuality" on the highest pedestal, the ego is fed and glorified the only option is that those who know good are to fix these situations.
Kill the fucking dog.

I agree with the guy above me. Except for the killing part. Talk to your landlord. File a noise complaint. Talk to your neighbor. Get a big boombox and record yourself screaming "BARK... BARK... BARK... BARKBARK... BARK..." and just fucking play it nonstop until the get the picture.

Or OP could just release the dog in the middle of the night if he doesnt have the guts to kill it. It'd be so easy... 3am rolls around, just go open your neighbor's backgate and let it be free. Could get hit by a car, but that seems unlikely. More likely is that someone else takes it in as their own or animal control captures it. Either way, problem is gone.

But do this first. Don't complain to your neighbor and let the dog go free, cuz otherwise they'll know who did it.

yea its much more selfish to keep a dog that makes a little noise than to kill another person's pet so you stop hearing a little noise.

you're the only evil one here, with your metaphysical projection and all that good reactionary stuff

We had these weird white trash neighbours with a permanently barking dog. Luckily they divorced and both moved away. I even bought a dog whistle hoping it would shut him up but it only pissed off my cat. That piece of shit would stand at the fence and bark at people who were chilling in their garden for 30 minutes straight. Mr and mrs white trash didn't give a fuck. We routinely showered him with our hose when watering the garden and I'm still surprised how much noise such a medium sized dog made.

Look up bark control or anti barking devices. They're ultrasonic dog whistles that look like bird houses that you can put in your back yard. Loud sounds like barking will trigger the device and annoy the dog.

Just handle the situation in the least confrontational way possible. There's a general stigma against pitbulls so I'm sure if you filed multiple noise complaints (legitimate, of course), the neighbors would either get fed up with the cops (leading to a fight and jail for neighbor) or the cops would get fed up with constantly having to go to the neighbors and increase the penalties.

But for fucking sure don't fucking confront them about it or they'll probably be all pissy and then someone would assault someone and you'd both get charged.

If it's bothering people's sleep it's not a "little noise", how would you even know how noisy the dog is? you can't know that.
you're just quick to defend OP's neighbor because you identify - you too are a person who in life has no qualms about bothering people or making people put in effort into things you want or believe in.
Whatever your particular case is, it's a matter if attitude. Whether you give a shit about the people around you who unfortunately for them are in your area of effect or you care about the desires of your ego.
Sleeping is a basic human need - love for your dog is your issue and shouldn't effect anyone's life unless they chose so.
