It took me four or five months of not smoking to pass an at home drug test and I had been smoking four years or so. Try college campus cafeterias. They usually pay more and don't drug test.

I've never ever had a foodservice job that drug tested upon hire.
shit, I've never worked in a kitchen that didnt have at least one person obviously on hard drugs.

There's a theory that food service workers are usually conked out on drugs and it makes them better services. Weed makes people more empathetic and sensitive which in turn better servers. Coke? Well you can pretty much do anything ten times faster on coke.

This is only true in low end kitchens nowadays, the kitchen confidential era is long over and high end cuisine is a really competitive professional career path, professional in the full sense of the word like a doctor or lawyer, jobs that wealthy people go to good schools for.

The last restaurant I worked at all the dudes with the macho kitchen grinder attitude are now flipping eggs for less money at worse places.

QuickTrip, Goodwill, Ross, and some other places don't typically drug test unless you are involved in an work site accident.

Get da money money, sending some SLAYER your way.

Goodwill drug tests at least mine did. I got hired as a supervisor for a bunch of slow peopl. They already gave me the keys and like my 3 or 4th days as a key holder I got "randomly drug tested" personally think I got set up though because I got drug tested the week after I smoked weed with the manager at his house.

I just seen so much shit when It comes down to going with co-workers. If I do, it will have to a company thing and I even then I dont stay long, an hour or two at most. Also, the guy said his manager invited him to smoke weed.. Huge fucking red flag.

I'm assuming you mean date I actually am dating someone I work with right now and we also live together. Somehow we have made it work. I'm sure there's exceptions. This person is also the polar opposite of anyone I've ever dated so no drugs.

As far as hanging out with Co workers I still do but I just don't do drugs with them anymore. as a guy nearly 30 work is pretty much the only way I make friends anymore so if someone seems cool enough to go check out a restaurant I've never ate at before or a beer or 2 then I'm down. I'm definitely pickier about who I hang out with at work though and I always decline if I find out they're into drugs.

>I'm assuming you mean date

No, I mean going with co-workers with a general rule of thumb. People keep thinking co-workers are your friends, news flash, they are not. You can go with them to eat or a movie, but drinking or drugs is out of the question. I know its your only way to have friends, I get that, but they are not your friends man as you as you leave that place.

First of all, this thread is completely idiotic. I worked in the kitchen for 5 years and wasn't drug tested once. I was on tons of drugs.

Second of all, considering I'm sober now, how hard would it be to become sous-chef? I mean like, I can fucking kill it. I've worked way harder jobs than that now. I could go back to a retsauraunt, move from prep to line in a month, from line to TOP OF THE LINE in a month and then what? Could I get sous chef?

Letting a "rule of thumb" keep you from making friendships is about as retarded as letting religion keep you from masturbating.

and if things go south you still have to work with them, and in many circumstances you somewhat rely on eachother, depending on the job. So now you got this awkward and possibly hostile shit hanging over your paycheck reliability.

You're probably talking about different types of jobs.

I've made legit friends at shitty retail and restaurant jobs as a wee babe in my hometown, but yeah, I would never consider anyone at The Business Firm, Inc., a friend
