Bad or good or doesn't matter?

Nicotine will diminish to the effects of benzodiazepines, but it is rather common for people who recreationally take benzos to also smoke while benz’d.

>bad
Diminished effects

>good
If you’re too benz’d you might enjoy the stimulation

>matters
Yup. Some people find that the effects are negligible though.

Wait, is there actually a biological mechanism that reduces effects of benzodiazepines with nicotine intake? Or does it just sober you up cause it is stimmy and helps focus

Pharmacokinetic, but yes. A lot of interactions fall a long ye old CYP trail. Less sedation found in smokers, can impact a variety medications.

Good to keep in mind next time I benz, thanks!

I'm guilty of overvaping e-cigs while benzing, I can blow out massive clouds and it doesn't seem to make me panic or light headed

Last night I was at a party and I bummed a few smoked off some homies while I was benzed out on Clonazepam. It diminished the benz feelings a bit, but not by terribly much and once I smoked a little bud the benz feeling came back.

Thanks, Tiny!
People seem to forget the interaction or write it off as a falsehood.

Np I learnt that one when I was young from an individual that kindled my interest in the subject.

I'm guilty of the same. Since sleep has been a pretty core issue of my illness I decided to test the difference in degree of sedation and after documenting it many times i can say the difference exists but its negligible (upon myself)

Yeah I was less sedated but in all honesty the "trials" where I abstained from nicotene interupted my sleep despite minor increases in those "comfy feels"

I did thise around age 18 so its pretty anecdotal and I was probably a stuck up kid at the time so YMMV

I’m not a smoker, but everyone that I know who smokes and takes benzos will chain smoke on benzos. They don’t seem to care either way.
Anytime that I have smoked, which is rare, I didn’t personally notice a significant decrease in sedation. That would have been around ages 18-20, so 4-6 years ago.

It a proven interaction due to the isoenzyme pathway (I'm sure you know it but it's the same family that metabolizes roughly 60% of all RX medication from NSAIDS, steroids, benzos, opioids, CCBS etc
it's one reason why certain algorithms will distinguish if the patient tapering is a smoker and adjust accordingly.

Whether or not "noticing" it is placebo is another thing all together but I'd say its likely from what I've touched on the subject. The loss in efficacy doesn't seem anything other than minor.

I always laugh when I realize we're in the same age, I always assume you are older.

I always forget that you’re the same age as me. Really, I always thought you were a couple years older than me, too.
I was born in 1994 —- just turned 24 a couple of months ago.

full bump

Fuck, I've been posting here forever and thought both of you were way older than me.
