Bought spores and bags separate.Injected bags about 4 weeks ago maybe a bit longger and these still haven't fully colonised.

Now the bags came in a small cardboard box and the seller said just inject them then put them back in the box and put them in a warm cupboard.

I've half thought maybe it's not warm enough in here but thermometer says it's around 72f in this room.I thought it was colder and the bags seem to be slightly cold to touch
Electric thermometer now says it's 71f and that's under the bag and folded over in the bag(bags now on A tshirt on the floor)

Should I speed them up and put them on my heat mat what a friend got from a mushroom fruiting kit.Or should I just have some patience?

Took them of the heat mat because even with a load of tshirts in between them it still seems to be a bit too hot

Should I make an incubator or just leave them be?

Btw this is a mini clandestine operation so I can't be just putting them on racks in front of the radiator.i can't even be having that on all the time

Hey OP, I highly recommend keeping them warm.

I'm currently 90% of the way through colonisation in my PF tek jars. I think a critical factor is that I was able to keep them warm by keeping the jars in a bucket, placing that bucket within another bucket filled with water with an aquarium heater in it keeping it at about 30C.

I started with the temperature setting on my aquarium heater way too low and nothing happened for a week and a half. I put it up to 30 and a week later I'm at 90%, I expect pinning within the next week.

tl;dr find a way to keep them warm.

like this

put a tablespoon of bleach into the water otherwise it will fill with slimy underwater goo because perfect temperature for microorganisms. They say don't heat your mycelium past 27C but I put my aquarium heater at 30C because I think there is a lot of ways the heat is escaping my buckets.

a viable alternative to a tub in tub, lovingly abbreviated as tit, is a so called heat bomb which is a aquarium heater placed in a plastic water. be sure to compress the bottle a little before sealing it so that the temperature change doesnt produce pressure that could lea to leaks. a heat bomb is easier to keep clean but depening on the size of the container and the ammount of jars it may produce uneven heating.

bags also generally have to heated less than jars since the ratio of volume to surface is way different

i recently mentioned this one in another thread. i still havent checked all the technical specifications but from what little ive read on the amazon offer itself it looks okay. you should still make sure it actually meets your criteria

for starters i think one bag per sterilization run should be okay, you could simply store a sterilized bag wrapped up in plastic inside your fridge while prepping another bag or two before moving over to 'nocing them up as long as you dont take too long

too small for what exactly?
if you intend to cultivate cubensis for your own joy and the joy of you friends, itll suffice for months. if you intend to earn money by selling your crop such a pot will still give you a solid starting point

and since WATER DROPLETS on your pf cakes worry you id guess that youre just getting into the whole deal

i honestly am too lazy to read this thread to understand what you consider a cake. but if your rye berry cakes are just rye spawn bags you shouldnt worry too much about bacterial contamination. in order to keep the chance of complete failure lower you could reduce the moisture at spawning and the dunk once the bulk substrate is fully colonized. tbh bacterial contamination is a lot less dangerous than fungal contamination

Well how many jars could I fit in one of them PC ?

And I'm worried because I've just binned one bag because it smelt through the patch and when I opened the bag to flush it it nearly made me vomit because of the smell.

Also these bags seem to be taking the piss when it comes to colonizong I'm like 6-7 weeks in and they're still not at 100% ones still at about 40-50 and doesn't seem to be improving.

Could I just start the mono tub now.

I sort of feel like I should of just got the ready made grownkits what you just heat up and mist.
I know in the long run growing them your self is cheaper and it can be fun but you can have your mushies in like 2-3 weeks.and the few times my friend has done them he got like 28-35g dried from tbem

So I've read with the jars people shake them and break them up so that's what I've done here.. hope it works sure it will as that's all Im sort of going to be dining when I make my mono tub..

please do not break n shake more than once - twice at max - beyond that youre merely stunting the growth instead of spreading the already colonized material

any signs of contamination?

Well it has actualy worked for them two other bags I broke them up and it's becoming a denser whiter cake already

The one what was already done looks like pic related..I'm hoping it's just bruised because the filter patch just smells like mushrooms

Obvs haven't done anything with that yet because I'm wanting to make a mono tub with the 3 of them...I'm I should just make one of them boxs with perlite thk
