Do you guys like to watch dissociative movies? While the idea of watching dis movies on high may be a bad idea I really like to watch them on tea breaks. What are your favorites? I'd say The Scanner Darkly and Serial Experiments Lain are top tier stuff. Eveno tho not related, I also think that Chungking Express (and in general Kar Wai Wongs movies) have that wierd vibe too.

enter the void is hands down the worst tripping movie ever. I feel everyone who recommends this piece of shit has never truly seen it themselves. Sure it has the whole "woah trippy visuals bro" thing going on but story wise it drags on FOREVER and tries its damned best to deeply disturb you. I think the first 30 minutes are worth watching tho, but from there on you would do great with a quick wikipedia skim.

really I'm all for intense movies which mindfuck you deeply but enter the void does not have any kind of message which will stick with you after the drugs wear off. It tries to do nothing but make you uncomfortable. Its a bad movie for drugs, even if it portrays drugs with precision.

I recommend paprika

We are not, nesseserly, talking about movies to trip to. I think its silly to watch wierd movies on dissociatives, usually any movie will cause confusion, its like drinking glass of water underwater or watching psychodelic movies on acid. You may say you want to enhance effects, and thats fine, I just dont like the idea.

Samsara, or Chronos (shared the first with 8+XD). Chronos is more of a feel-good trip. Parts of Samsara are not, but it's an important, spiritual movie. I drove three hours to see it in IMAX when it came out (toward the end of MXE's heyday), and was not disappointed.

Some others I found interesting (w/r to MXE, DXM). Donnie Darko, The Fountain, Sunshine, the Animatrix.

Chronos was at the core of my time with MXE, one of the few times I've cried for beauty. There were other elements that came together to make those months possible, but that was part of it. Those were the best days of my life. Maybe the "true" MXE that was available then is gone for good; maybe I'll get it back someday. I lost something priceless with the ban.

There's a strong spiritual element to the best dissociative trips; sometimes a movie brings that out. With others, you just want to kick back and enjoy the visuals. IMHO, the best dissociatives bring euphoria to the table. Without it, they feel... dead, dry.

I like dissociatives for being dead and dry compared to other psychodelics like LSD, N-bome and similar that feel, I dont know, for the lack of a better word - gay. When you know that chemicals are making you feel what you feel it is kind of irritating for me to feel this fake euphoria.

Are you talking about Samsara 2011, right?
Also I hate The Fountain, it felt like a "spiritual wierd movie goes AAA". Sacrilege. but its just my opinion.

Mr Nobody and Cloud Atlas
I have never watched Cloud Atlas sober, I've never fully understood the plot or the characters, and it makes me cry or well up every time

Yeah, 2011. I had a lot of respect for Fricke's previous work, and the only theater nearby that scheduled it canceled, so I made a road trip out of it. The MXE was the first Chinese batch I'd tried, a little lackluster, but no complaints.

What I enjoy about The Fountain - from a trip perspective - isn't the plot; it's the light. From the intro scene in the institute to the tree floating through space, that atmosphere sets a really interesting tone.

Dissociatives are less "pushy" than the classic psychedelics from a mood standpoint. My favorites - like K or good MXE - are still nothing like that, but there's a subtle "something" (with MXE, almost like a light opioid warmth) which helps create the sense of wonder and interest that go so well with the "enlightenment' vibes.

3-meo-pcp had some of that, albeit a kind of lazy, fuzzy-headed euphoria. O-PCE seemed to lack it - so you get the dissociative "distance" from everything and can't engage the same way, but the new perspective isn't intrinsically interesting. The way music hits you with MXE or DXM, for instance; it's lacking that, just not the same. In that way it's similar to low-dose K, which I also find unappealing (O-PCE was a nice adjunct to other chems, though).

My friends and I have probably watched Cloud Atlas 20-25 times total while tripping. I've yet to see it sober as well, lol. Excellent film, though a lot of people take it WAY too seriously.

The Cremaster Cycle is sort of like a more abstract jodorowsky movie except it has the duration of an average dex trip

I did the same thing on a sub-third plat dose a week ago after downloading it out of curiosity. To further add to my confusion, I watched Mother! a little bit afterward and had no clue what in the fuck was going on. I was being strung along by all kinds of strange, dark vibes and feelings the entire movie alone. Without that I wouldn't have been able to even remotely follow anything was happening to the point I might as well have had it just playing in the background.

Of course, being strung along by strange and dark vibes throughout the entirety of a film is actually usually what I go for when I watch movies on /dis/. Same thing happened when I first watched Jacob's Ladder on delsym/dxm poli and 3-meo-pcp. Rewatching the movie afterward sober is an extremely interesting experience, because the echoes of those vibes and feelings reverberate in my unconscious during that sober play through, so it's like an entirely different experience than just watching a movie normally for the first time.

I went and saw one of those Johnny Depp Through the Looking Glass movies back when I was in high school on a 2nd plateau trip and it definitely made what I assume to be a terrible movie somewhat interesting. I think that I have also seen Coraline, Speed Racer, and some Vin Deisel film (Babylon A.D.?) forsure, but the DXM really screwed with my memory at the time and I know there are more out there that I am forgetting.

I once watch Fear and Loathing on a ket binge and that was alright I guess with how the film is shot and styled.

I like action and kids movies while on dissociates because I am too impaired to follow something deep.

+++++ definitely sick
I saw Miami Connection once on DXM and it was dope. The Shining is pretty cool but it’s extra spooky so watch out for that.
