I feel left out of all these discussions due to my frequent inability to recall my dreams. I don't naturally experience them every night. They only occur when I focus quite hard and they're never very vivid. How do you guys initiate dreams?

be aware of everything you do. when you open a door say in your mind, I am opening a door. when you go to bed say I am going to bed and what i might see is a dream.

eventually your subconscious will take over and you will have very nice vivid dreams.

-Get more sleep
-Think about dreaming just before you go to sleep
-Write the dreams you do remember down asap
-Occasionally ask yourself if you're in a dream, so that it's easier to differenciate between dream and reality (this one didn't work for me)

I always go by the "dream journal" method

write down anything you can remember when you first wake up, even if its just your mood or a word or an image. If you do this everyday and long enough the idea is that you will expand your memory and be able to remember long vivid dreams.

works for me but I fall in and out of practice

You ever feel like you dream too much?
Sometimes it feels too much. Last night it was zombies (with some girl I barely know I had a gun, felt her presence strongly) and then something about aliens. I was undergoing a check up of sorts, with that thing where they look in your ear and then checked my mouth. I dont think the result was good. Shit I dunno I feel a bit disturbed recalling it. It was like the examiner was also a driving test instructor (abstract symbolism) not a typical doctor. Dreams like this make it sound like Im going through some bad shit, but im not right now. Ive been feeling that Ive let a lot of stuff go. These are nitemares by many ppls standard but Im just use to this kind of crap..sort of.
Sometimes I wish I could just have one night without dreams.

Crop circles, then Spardot for some reason, gave her a hug to say thx for putting up with bs for website, was in a place where there had been a murder, the carpet had been changed so no clues. Then in India saw a big empty bread factory that was British owned. Then a bunch of guys playing football, I threw the ball in. Then I met my friend who im no longer friends with irl telling him about someone we know who got into heroin but is now clean. I hang out a lot with my old housemate, its weird cause irl I dont want to see him again.

Bit of a weird alien theme going on. Shit, I woke up one time feeling myself being dragged accross the floor, I felt them react to my waking. Still tho that kind of OBE sleep paralysis thing I associate with spirits rather than aliens. Fuck who knows?
I wish experiences like that wernt so real then I could say..it was just a dream

I had a period of a month or so over the winter where my dreams would exhaust me.

The were usually just dreams about work or regular bullshit, but I would wake up just as tired as when I laid down even though it had been 8 hours. These dreams would last litterally ALL night long. It really started to wear on my psyche but eventually I changed my sleeping arrangement and my work schedule started to change and I found a balance.

I had a dream recently where a power line touched my head and zapped me. I was okay and got into a stranger's shower afterward. She promptly got naked and followed me in because in her words "I only have one shower."
I also had sleep paralysis recently where I felt a fingernail press into my back. It was spooky.

I had a beautiful dream last night. I had cut off some people's limbs and stitched them together with wire so they became like a contraption so to speak.

I was obtaining two more victims one female and one male. The male ran and I saw he was hiding in a bath rub so I hit him over the head with a hammer until he died. Then I had a really nice surgical saw and cut him open out of curiosity. And saw what inner muscle systems and intestines looked like.

Of course he expected me to not murder him in the dream but I did anyways and with such force comically he was beheaded by the hammer.

Then I woke up.

I've always figured myself to be a psychopath or sociopath and is this dream telling me something about that?

No. Stop trying to fit yourself into useless categories. Many people can have very violent dreams. I myself have had dreams of murdering different people but this does not make me "mentally ill" (even if modern psychology would probably jump at the opportunity of assigning labels)

You should actually be considering the dream and its parts. Who were you killing? What were you killing them for? Where were you killing and with what? You should ask yourself the significance of these objects to you in your life history. Perhaps most important is the question, what events may have lead you to the present dreams?

I'm not going to interpret your dream, since that is frankly a dead end activity if one uses standardized meanings for objects, but you yourself are the best person who can determine the "meaning" to some extent.

I had a sadistic dream, in the sense I enjoyed the act I was doing it, last night. In this case, it was me murdering 4/8/pol/. Or at least what was my obsession with it. Though it might be more accurate to say that it was my obsession my politics in general right or left that is basically an addiction. Oddly the representation of it was a woman in victorian clothing, big ass skirt and all.

The method itself was vaporization via a Star Trek-ish phaser from behind, though it looked liked she died in a more video game-y with her fading into greyscale and disappearing altogether. Still, it felt kinda disturbing, and yet I enjoyed it. I think I was finally expressing my rage towards the entire shithole that is politics in general. And perhaps this is my own mind telling me that it's fine to let go of all of that and learn to enjoy life instead of worrying about all of that all the time.

Basically do what the above poster said. Have you been stressed out about something? My own violent dreams tend to happen when I'm stressed out about something.

False memories within dreams by Henry Fuckinglock - Sun, 19 Feb 2017 07:09:07 EST ID:nFOx3zLb No.45499 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

For years I've been randomly experiencing false memories within my dreams. For instance I will be in the middle of a dream and then straight up 100% remember something funny a friend said the day before, and then I'll wake up and realize that shit never happened. I get all types of memories, sometimes even about people I've never met that I made up within my dream on the spot. The crazy thing is that these "false memories" are coming straight from my memory center in my brain, they feel completely real until I wake up. Memories are imprinted in your mind. You can shine a light on a dark wall and see something you did years ago, and the proof is the impression left in your mind. But how can your mind just fabricate impressions like that on the spot?

I've always been a semi-lucid dreamer, like I know it's a dream but I don't yet realize that dream reality isn't real reality, so I don't have complete control but I'm usually pretty clear headed. This makes these instances even more trippy. I also experience deja-vu in waking life relatively often. While the fake memory in the dream feels straight up like an actual memory, deja-vu feels more like a foggy memory is being channeled to you somehow for 5-10 seconds and you get the crazy feeling like this has happened before, and then it's gone. Maybe they are related?

Similar experiences?

Hey there, this happens to me a lot so I thought I'd share some thoughts. For starters I'm not always myself when I dream, and a lot of the people who are regulars and friends in my dreams aren't people that I know IRL either. I even have an apartment that I find myself in frequently that I consider my home and know like the back of my hand, but I have never actually lived there. I don't think it's beyond our minds to construct it's own characters and environments from scraps of memory, and even articulate another lifetime for you to immerse yourself in. Your mind can cook up plenty weirder stuff than that, so it's not really reaching to guess that your brain can store subconscious memory as well.
Though, if you are looking for speculation, maybe you are walking into other's dreams, and pulling faces and locations from their experiences. You say you experience deja vu frequently, this is perhaps due to a similar phenomenon where your own conscious version of reality is being read or accessed by another person, or alternate version of yourself from another timeline via subconscious retrieval.

I'm pretty sure that's a fairly common occurrence.
A lot of the time when I'm drifting to sleep I hear music play, either a mix of several different songs or something 100% brand new that my brain is conjuring up. In a dream I can have an entire universe with set rules and things I have to do, with friends and family that don't exist IRL, and sometimes I would even have memories of previous dreams while dreaming if there's enough similarity to it.

It usually takes a good hour or so after I wake up to separate the dream experiences from the real world, so I try to avoid speaking to people before then because everything gets kinda muddled.

Last night I had this dream where I got these huge, nasty boils on my arm. I popped one of 'em and it was just like this giant ball of pus that came out of it.

Then my arm fell off and I kept it wrapped in plastic bags until I could find a way to reattach it. I would mess around with it though and move the joints around like it was an action figure, or something. Eventually it felt like the wrist or something had broken because it went limp or started moving further than I think it should have. I took it out of the bag and the bone was broken, and there were large, V-shaped slices of meat missing from both sides of the wrist. It was all fucked up.

I remember being like "FUCK, NOW I DON'T HAVE AN ARM ANYMORE", but as I was saying this, I was real animated about it and noticed that I inexplicably had an arm in its place, and got real confused.

I gotta get rid of this fever, man. I hate these dreams.

Today I had a dream where I smoked weed with some boys and girls and then went away. I feel really nice and relaxed but a cop smells the weed on me and starts chasing through the city. He finally catches on the roof of a tall building when tells me he's not chasing me to arrest me but because he really wants some weed. Not a disturbing dream but I wanted to share because it's quite funny.

Before every time they put her in again she would shout shit like "I'M GOING IN" or "PUT ME TO USE", etc, while laughing

And the dream segment before that everyone had made clay jew noses that they wore, don't remember the dream itself though, just that.

I once had a dream in which my left arm was infected with these small holes with plastic yellow trim that would grow yellow erasers. That's generally how it occurs for most people except the exceedingly rare times it simply happens by chance or some sleep disorder is at play (or taking some kind of sleeping medication). That or attempts at lucid dreaming. I've had sleep paralysis 40+ times easily with only 3 of the times not being something I'd consider induced on my own.

Either that or incredibly relaxed
When I'm really relaxed I slowly descend into sleeping and that usually involves sleep paralysis, but the good kind where your room turns into a cool forest or something and there's no panic about not being able to move.

But yeah when I'm stressed I get the typical "demonic" sleep paralysis where shit in my environment is flying around or there's someone there and I can't tell if it's actually happening or not.

I went into this museum at night, and down in the archives all these fossils and stuff were coming back to life and crawling around. There were three tall aliens in the center hall, and from the mezzanine I could see the stuff below moving around, like giant lizards and bugs/sea creatures. They wanted me to give them something but I wanted to know what they were going to use it for, and like... get something for it. And they just said that it was for humans and I was ultimately helping myself by giving it to them. They didn't speak with their mouths, they just kind of answered me telepathically. But I guess I was followed because a swat team busted in the entrance- I panicked and gave the data to the aliens on this little chip thing, and they were like "you did the right thing, good luck tho" and just kinda blinked away. I had to jump down into the flooded archives to escape, but there were giant crocodiles and shit so I ran into some sewer tunnels. There were stairways leading down and all the water was flowing down the steps. There were also all these mirrors on the walls as I went down, I couldn't see myself in them though so I broke through one and it was a one-way mirror with an empty office on the other side. I went through the office and came out in a hallway, there were swat officers in there telling me that there was sensitive information and I couldn't be back there. I started shapeshifting and attacking them with my tentacle arms but that's where it fades and I don't remember what happened, which is usually the case when I shapeshift too much.
Does anyone have an analysis or opinion on this that they'd like to relate? I don't have lots of people irl that I can talk to about this stuff.

I used to have this recurring dream when I was a child. Maybe from the time I was four up until 7, I'd have this dream maybe four times a year on average, but the dream was always the same.
I was standing in a big field of grass, and on the hill there was these old, western style hourses. Almost like a ranch. I'd watch a woman in a pink dress attire, and pink hat walk outside with a stroller.
That's when she stopped dead in her tracks and looked right at me. At this point I would struggle to catch my breath, and It felt as if i was being suffocated. At this point I always knew that I was in the dream again, and would try to force myself awake, but to no prevail.
I'd wake up maybe a minute later, gasping for air.

Does anyone know what this could mean? Could it be a spiritual message of some kind, or just some repressed trauma causing it?
Any thoughts would be appriciated.

Another thing to add that I find very strange, is that at this age I did not know of western culture, and atleast not that detailed. Everything from the houses, to her dress/hat to the stroller, everything was straight out of history when I recall it many years later. How could my four year old self have dreamt up that detailed scenario?
Just a thought that's been bothering me for quite some time.

Hey Ernest. This might not be the answer you were looking for and feel free to disregard this, but I speculate that this woman may be you from a past life. Given the historical context and cultural differences you describe, I feel that it could very well be the case. Not to mention that you claim to have had these dreams as a child, when people are supposedly better at recalling details from past lives. I myself have had similar dreams of past lives, and even though I know it's a dream it still feels like more than that, like a memory. The fear and discomfort you feel are probably due to the unsettling awareness that you are dead / have died, and wanting to wake up just means that you want to return to your body and regain consciousness. I know the whole spiritual angle isn't too popular here, but I wanted to say that this isn't abnormal and other people experience stuff like this too. If you feel there's something she needs to say, listen. If you want to tell her something, do it. You construct your own identity. We all change with time but it is important to consider what you have experienced, and who you want to become. I hope that you see her again, make peace with the past, and continue to grow.

I was walking around my high school but it was different.. it was a big facility with white wall hallways and was very confusing to get around. it was the first day of the semester and I was already late. I walked past my first period classroom and the teacher was standing facing the doorway handing out sheets to students walking in. I decided in that moment to skip class and I got lost. I ended up in this back yard court yard and there were many obstacles and ladders to the top of the building. Near the top it became really difficult and looking down I started to get terrified. I got to the top, and on the top of the building was a few keyboards and pianos and a sign that said "VERY VERY BAD BAD BAD IDEA". I looked down and there was nothing but a rubber diving board below me and I was dangling on a ladder made of rope. I woke up in a cold sweat.

what does this mean?

Sounds like you're craving adventure, but you know that you can't just get up and go and do whatever you want in the world. Maybe you'd had an experience in the past where you wanted to do something but were warned that it was dangerous.

The school setting stems from the fact that you have either recently been thinking about the past or about some sort of schooling, maybe.

Dreaming about being back in your highschool is one of the most common dream settings though. It's like THE generic dream setting.

Remember, dreams aren't secret messages from your secret angel giving you tips about shit. It's a conglomeration of little subtle thoughts that have been going on in your head, and what you're doing is picking apart the subconscious thoughts that were powerful enough to end up in your dream.

There's no definite interpretation every time; sometimes you just think of things just because. For example, I thought of a brownie right now just because. I don't even like brownies or anything.

But the combination of everything in your dream may create connections you haven't thought about.

For example, maybe the obstacles have to do with the fact that you found it difficult to do adventurous things outside of school, especially because there was a guilt inside you that made it harder?
Lots of fun stuff to think about

1st Avoidance – you did not/do not face reality
2nd Dissolution – you find it hard to connect/were lost
3rd Realization – internal stru gals and perhaps metaphors materialize
4th Feel stuck – relax, work on it
