So, what's your politics, /hooch/?

I just realized after posting one myself and feeling comfortable about it, that more than once i've found images and posts in the BWD that evidenced clear sympathies for the far left.
It got me curious, so here's a nice quick survey on it.

Alcohol withdrawals suck bad but after a spliff they are somehow enjoyable for me. I love the feeling of being exposed, sensitive and thrilled when my bac reaches zero and I'm smoking up watching a good horror movie.
Cannabis helps me with my mood, my nausea and my pain (which can get tremendous at times) when I'm sobering up.

So I'll be heading to alcohol detox for a week in the morning. The place is called Cinikor I believe. I already know a lot about withdrawals. I can't find any good info. on what It's going to be like on an hour to hour, day to day basis though. If i get much response I'll try to reply, with pictures if possible. It will be followed by at least 6 months of rehab as well.

Thanks.

Cenikor I assume? Do initially try to minimize your openness about your drinking. How much etc. then go from there. This would help you have more autonomy for yourself in your treatment. I think this place involves 12 step program.

This reminds me of when I was trying to open a bottle of beer in my friend's truck but we didn't have a bottle opener. I asked him if he knew of a way to get it open and then he said, "yeah no problem" and then proceeded to smash the head of the bottle on a concrete curb. Of course the fucking bottle broke and all my beer went through a sewer gate.

I asked him what the fuck he thought was going to happen and then he just shrugged and left.

Drink enough water before while and some after drinking. Have water by your bed/cuuch wherever, and take a few drinks when you roll over that direction, especially if you do not feel like reaching over for that glass, through the night.

Only takes a moment and while you are sleeping is really the best tine to add some water to you system rather than after you become mostly dehydrated by
the next morning. Better than slamming lots of water before going to bed
in my opinion, do drink water before bed though. Do try not piss yourself
either in the given time to sleep.

Drank 9 beers last night, finished off the sesh with a couple bowls, a heap of chinese food, and then a few cups of water after the meal before going to sleep. Woke up feeling a little worn with a very slight headache but nowhere close to what a 9 beer hangover can be like. Now I just waked and baked, casually sipping on hot coffee and feeling fine

Drink a larger amount of water slowly, constantly and without interruption. Alternatively hold your breath for very long. The trick is to put your thoracic diaphragm in a position where it can't "hiccup" when it wants to. This interrupts the problem for a while. It can return for up to three days before it vanishes.

This. My experience is that if not either one of these alone works, doing both a few times in correlation always do.

I've been mostly a dark Belgisch, moderate sours, and barrel aged kinda guy for many years (think Zymatores, Geuzes, Flemish Reds etc...). Recently had an NEIPA for the first time (WeldWerks Juicy Bits) and was blown away. Fucking stellar. So many goddamn citrus and lactose flavors but the alcohol was still upfront. Trying three more NEIPAs tonight, but have been looking for a comprehensive list of what's available, with no luck. What do you kind folks think of this beer style, and do any of you know of such a list?

You think anyone here can respond to your detailed knowledgeable beer-connoisseur prose? Well you're right, maybe a few people can, but I can't, and yet I love IPAs. I'm drinking Hop-Nosh right now, because it's the best IPA at the nearby store, but it's from Utah (I'm from NE). The only thing I could recommend is to...

seek out the legendary alchemist up in the foothills of ye olde vermonte. He's known for his IPA, Heddy Topper, and he just released a new imperial IPA, called Focal Banger (this is all from memory, so all of it is wrong btw). Beer advocate cited his brewing and wizardry as being among the best in the world.

Beer nerd here. Right now some of the hottest NE style hazy IPAs are coming from Trillium Brewing and Tree House Brewing.

>>274378

He's right about Alchemist, Heady Topper is considered kinda the OG hazy IPA out of the northeast. Although Focal Banger isn't all that new anymore, but they did just recently start making a few other beers. I forget the names, but there's a pale ale or two in there. And Lawson's Finest Liquids also has some cred for getting in ahead of the curve with Sip of Sunshine.

Another honorable mention for hoppy beers in the northeast is Other Half Brewing in NY.

Also, with the popularity of the style, tons of other small breweries are taking a stab at making hazy, juicy, NE-style IPAs. I'm on the west coast, and Fieldwork Brewing has a handful of them. They don't package very much beer (mostly just kegs) but among the ones they have packaged, PULP is super popular and really tasty. I'm also lucky enough to have some homies that do beer trades with people around the country, so I've gotten to try some Trillium, Tree House, and Other Half beers to compare. They're all fucking delicious.

Anyway, find a small brewery near you that is constantly rotating new beers into their lineup, and chances are they've tried making a NE-style IPA or two, or six. Of course this always comes about with varying degrees of success, but trying a buncha new, small-batch shit all the time is one of the wonderful things about craft beer these days.

Also, if you wanna try any of these breweries' beers, there's a good chance you'll have to either go to their area to purchase them or set up trades with somebody who lives near them. These breweries are so small that they hardly ever distribute at all outside of their area. Many of them don't even sell their beer outside their own breweries, and their can releases are jam-packed and they'll end up running out of stock really quickly.

Anyway, that's kinda the current deal on NE-style IPAs. I'm sure there are some that I've forgotten, but the breweries mentioned here are the ones that are most highly sought after on beer trading forums.

thank you frienderinos. i completely forgot that heady topper basically originated the style! had that like 4 years ago and it was fucking killer, but then it completely went over my head that it's the quintessential NEIPA. i'm in CO so am trying all the NEIPAs from breweries around these parts, but will definitely try and get my hands on trillium and treehouse brews. recently tried a NEIPA from rockcut brewing in CO and loved it so much i brought home 96oz of it. Gone in 24 hours.

Maybe I'm just putting too much thought into just silly drunk behaviour,
but has anyone ever gotten into a kind of semi dream state by drinking too much? I'm talking going to blackout zone and then drinking at least half a bottle more. Maybe it's because I actually can't doze off because of being too drunk. I just remember being as if in a dream, as in I see that things are happening, and I know that the things I'm saying don't make any kind of sense, but it's just what I'm doing so I let it go on, this is the track, this is the script, I'll just roll along. I just have glimpses of it from during a blackout, being pissed at a friend because he has my FPS games in the bag he is carrying, which is mine. I don't play FPS games. There were no FPS games. It was his PS1 in his bag, and I was not trying to scam him, I really believed it. Momentarily I would be "waking up", trying to realize where I was, asking what is this place, but I have glimpses of both states. I'm just wondering, do any of you have any experience, and do you think that it's more of just a consciousness shutting down and letting some auto-drive take the wheel, regardless of if it's making sense or not, or is it some state of psychosis? Because I've never heard of alcohol induced psychosis before.

Don't know what to tell you man. Maybe >>274426 is right but that shouldn't happen if you just have one bottle of wine. Perhaps you have psychosis or schizophrenia and its being triggered/exacerbated by alcohol. Or maybe you are just focusing on what it feels like to be drunk a lot. If you really try to describe the experience of severe drunkenness, it is like a dream isn't it? You just watch yourself acting stupid but you can't do anything about it. Maybe it's because alcohol is an NMDA receptor antagonist.

Maybe these links are related to your condition:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcoholic_hallucinosis
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delirium_tremens

I doubt the latter link is the problem because DTs are from withdrawal from alcohol. Similarly it doesn't seem like alcoholic hallucinosis either but I'm not a doctor. My advice would be to see a doctor, it would probably be good if you could stop drinking too, but I can't recommend something I haven't tried myself lol.

One more thing: is the weird dreamp-state feeling you get pleasurable or not?

I wouldn't really call it either pleasurable or the opposite. Maybe a vague sense of dread, on top of just feeling the cogs move as they do. Maybe like an insect. But then I only remember glimpses, so I don't remember what I've felt when I was enveloped in it. Which I didn't even think of before now, I shouldn't be blacking out on just some wine. I know it sounds very alike, about being in a dream, if I am to try to point out the difference is when you're just very drunk your inner workings are just slathered and out of whack. You can still see where your actions came from, even if there's some steps between. And maybe you get some fuzzy stuff on top of your sensory input, like >>274441 . This state is more like you had changed out internal parts at random for something foreign, under the slather and goop of the alcoholic lubrication.

And yeah, I've already quit essentially. Was away a while on vacation, tried a few beers, but I didn't even enjoy that so I'll just go sober. I didn't even drink that much to begin with, I drink essentially every other month on occasion, more often only when someone celebrates a birthday or something like that.
