I think I just realized I really don't like alcohol, after all.

I've tried a lot of things: multiple kinds of beer (from commercial euro lager to IPA and local "higher quality" stuff), cider, spirits, and I find that I can barely separate the taste: it just feels somewhat tasteless and unpleasant (in the case of beer and hard cider) while making me nauseous with every sip after a while, or is just disgusting when it comes to the stronger stuff. Only alcohol I've enjoyed is some of the lighter and sweeter wines and cocktails that hide the taste of ethanol behind sugar.

I know it's supposed to be an acquired taste... but I don't feel like I'm acquiring anything. Yeah, getting shitfaced with friends is fun, but in that case, I try to drink whatever has the highest alcohol percent in order to get it done as painlessly as possible.

Is it genetic? Is everyone somehow just pretending? I don't understand the relationship of humanity with alcohol. Worst thing is that I'm not even a light drinker: it takes me quite a bit to get dizzy.

For what it's worth, I don't drink coffee either (bitterness is too strong), although I consider that as more of a blessing than anything else. However, I find it easier to taste differences in flavour through the bitterness in coffee than in beer.

Im in the same boat since I turned 21. An alcoholic family member of mine once told me of him sneaking beer at the age of only 9 for just the taste and I could never understand why. I think most alcoholic beverages are poor tasting except for things like cheap Arbor Mist wine and well mixed drinks. To me it /has/ to be an acquired taste or people just wanting the effects. I cant imagine this many people bs-ing saying they love the taste of alcohol lol.

I really enjoy strong wine though, only for the quick relaxation after a long day at work. I am taking after my alcoholic fam member being the only person in my immediate family who drinks often, but I just chill at home and play music lol. you know, its just like smoking pot...I dont think anyone enjoys how much they cough or the taste of the actual smoke, but love the effects thus loving the process of getting high. It is the same for me at least w bud and alcohol.

Have you tried a dark beer? IPAs aren't really a good idea if you can't even stand coffee, and lagers generally are very light and don't taste much. Darker beers tend to taste more though. I never really loved beer until I started drinking darker ones, before that beer was more just something to get drunk on cheaply.

Can recommend Newcastle brown ale, not really dark dark but it's not watery and tasteless yet isn't focused on bitterness. I'd say it's very accessible yet tasty.

And I don't really believe in having an acquired taste. You just find stuff you like and become better at describing why you dislike the things you don't.

Just try to find what fits you and have no shame about it. If drinks is your thing then why not? It's not as simple as just grabbing a beer and some small minded people might look down on you for it, but you could even turn it to your advantage by becoming good at making them, it's like cooking a homemade meal for a girl but instead it's a drink and she'll get slushed and love you for it. Provoke and prod her senses.

Alcohol tastes good if you're an alcoholic. Also it's a carrier of flavour. I had an alcohol free lager the other day. It was awful. Also there are more styles of beer than IPA and lager. If you like coffee at least try a stout.

Short answer yes.

Longanswer, my favorite beers and top shelf boozes are enjoyable to sip straight after 3+ years

I'm not too big a fan of beer because of the taste and also acid reflux but yea i do like the taste of alcohol. I drink hard liquor daily and the taste is part of the experience. I think its psychological. Like someone else said, i wouldn't drink it if it didn't get me drunk. I jus associate the taste with what i feel when i drink it

I honestly couldn't even drink liquor almost at all until recently. Beer used to be the go-to but I noticed after I took a T-break from weed for about 2 weeks I could actually drink whisky without gagging and feeling my spit liquefy. Definitely think it's a psychological thing and to me at least smoking weed makes alcohol taste worse. Having the ability to drink with minimal/no chaser if I feel like it and not want to instantly puke is pretty neat

You should've said when your mouth starts watering because thats what most people think of it as
Idk English may not be your first language
