Hello, /F/, I have a few questions about as3 that I haven't been able to find the answer to. I'm only a beginner, so forgive me if some of these questions sound retarded.

1- I need to know how to access the properties of one class file from another class file. I've tried doing something like "stage.otherclassfile.otherclassfile'sproperty" but it doesn't seem to work.

2- Is it possible to make two functions of one class file run at the same time?

example:I have one function telling the class file to move up, and another telling it to move right. I want both of these functions to happen at the same time, not after one another.

3- I'm pretty sure the answer is no for this one, but is it possible to edit text files in as3?

You're going to want to declare them as public static properties. For example, if you had this line in class A:
> public static var i:int = 12;
And this in your document class' constructor:
> trace(A.i);
The output would be 12.

No, you'd need to have multiple threads, which is beyond the scope of a scripting language like AS3.

Yes, but it's highly impractical. I'd recommend using a SharedObject (flash.net.SharedObject) to save any data you might need locally.

Are you familiar with OOP OP? If not, I'd recommend learning a bit of Java before continuing on with AS3. It'll make a lot more sense.

Not sure if this would be a good solution, but what if:

Inside of a class named "classA" I make an array of objects of another class named "classB" that are all running at the same time, and have scripts in them that affect "classA".

Hello /f/!

Here I have a little something I've been coding for a couple hours mainly to excercise my skills. This is the first thing I've ever coded except 10min projects and I was thinking of utilizing it in a game I'm planning to make. Maybe you see the economy and Panic variables for example which doesn't have any function yet.

Every specific region have a realistic amount of inhabitants and the yearly growth is correct with current regional growths (to a high extent).

Anyways do you think 800 lines of code is unreasonable for this? I'm just asking because of curiosity about optimization.

I'd love tips on design. Don't make too much fuss about the outlines and such though because I purpously drew those fast since I probably won't use them later on. Also report bugs.

I don't remember where the economy numbers come from... And I don't remember why I put africas economy at ten. But I'm currently working on a population simulator that relates to GDP, international relations, military power and so on. It comes together but slowly..
