do you honestly think with everyone having nukes that nuclear war is going to occur? the fact that everyone has them, and they're hidden all over the place, is pretty much just an insurance policy. If anyone is stupid enough to use a nuke without the consent of many powerful ally nations, they would be ruined. Think about the consequences for a minute in a situation like that and I'm sure you would agree. there are far too many factors and intelligence gaps for something like that to just happen. if a budding smaller country, say, like iran, were to obtain nuclear arms, if they were too stupid to use it as a bargaining chip, then they would just wind up completely screwing themselves. then again, everybody would know it would only be used as a bargaining chip, because if they actually used it, then it would lead to the systematic dis-empowering of that nation. they would not longer be a sovereign state, and the country would be run by someone else, probably that the UN, US, or whomever seems to be the leader or figurehead chooses. basically, if you do anything with your nuclear weapons other than make threats, you're fucked in the ass.

You are correct, but you also forget that our governments are dysfunctional and sometimes very unwise individuals get a lot of power, in fact it seems such individuals have the biggest amount of influence and power ATM. Also nukes, have only been around for 50 smth years and their availability has increased greatly and only going to increase more. Big asteroids strike only a few times in millennia. We still have hundreds of years left. Do you think asteroids are more likely than nuclear turmoil? Plaque is not as serious with our current understanding of diseases and supervolcanos are extremely rare and cause tremendous damage only for part of the planet. I'd be more worried of the coming iceage, since our inter-glacier period supposed to have ended a long time ago. Plus it's the age of Aquarius, aren't we supposed to get flooded and shit? Or think about the collapse of the dollar and global economy which is prolly coming shortly. Now that's a very real and likely threat to our survival.

Most people say this but imo social power begins in the mind. If you were a loser pre-apocalypse I don't see why you'd be the shit post-apocalypse unless you have high proficiency in some skill that is very marketable in a post-apocalyptic world.

Serial killers and crazy fucks live just fine in this world, they'll get worse in the post-disaster one.

>The human population is so unsustainable that a dramatic death toll could quite possibly be very positive for the future of the species.

Nah, this is more overpopulation myth stuff. Most of human innovation is a product of the sheer amount of human brains on the planet exponentially increasing the probability of innovation. Necessity is the mother of invention and not having clean water is one hell of a motivator.

Statistically, armed populations have lower violent crime rates, assuming we're speaking for the regular Joe. Fact is, if people even think you might have a gun on you' they'll usually try to find a target who doesn't.

I will buy a house after I graduate college and get a steady job.
I live in the East Coast and I believe environmental factors will make my region uninhabitable.

Which is the best place to move and buy a house?

Where the weather will be tolerable.
Where there will be enough clean water for my lifetime.
Where there will be enough energy, renewable or otherwise.

I'd like a suggestion from both an American City and an international city.
What are your plans?

if the climate changes in one area it will effect the entire world. what once was a nice area with out tornados and blizzards might now have both but no longer suffer from blizzards. also the sea level will rise. this isnt as easy a question as you think.

Chances are it'll go back and forth. One year we'll get a lot of snow, another year we'll get really cold temperatures, another year will get both, and another year we'll get neither. Extremes are bound to get more extreme due to climate change, but it's nothing we can't handle.

Okay so the whole omg worlds ending its 2012 never grabbed me..and Ive always been of the belief that the world has had a lot of Armeggedon episodes already.

However 2014 has felt more doom laden for me personally than any other time. I stopped watching the news but personally in my own life overvigilant police and survailance has become an issue. I feel like things are going to kick off more and more. World War 3 wont be between countries, it will be between the people and the state.
Hysteria, happenings and the rise of fascism ...what do we do about it and what will the new world look like?

so I was hearing psychic voices coming in from atmosphere's of the city where I live and my voice inside started to speak out and I think some of the future slipped out. It said there will big Earth quakes coming up soon. A little while later the voices coming from the outside told me to get in a car and leave this area for a less inhabited zone. 2017 came up and they were also feeling bad and showing me images about how bad people will treat each other when the quakes happen. I don't have enough money to move where I am right now, but I'm going to keep the car full of fuel and a few stocked supplies so I can take off at any time. I wish all of you good luck for 2017....

Unfortunately he'd still be in trouble...

It's the oh-so nebulous charge of "conspiracy to commit drug trafficking", which occurs when two or more people agree or conspire to commit trafficking. The State's evidence must show that the defendant entered into an agreement with another to commit the crime and intended to commit the crime. This can be very difficult to prove and ultimately the burden of proof lies upon the State. However, that doesn't mean the prosecutor won't go through extreme lengths to make the case as believable as possible.

What if someone removes the plankton by using various methods (fish, special bacteria, etc.) then poison begins to rise from the bottom of the sea because of a certain bacteria that produces poison gas when no oxygen is present. Someone in theory could set into motion the end of life as we know it if they had the funding to genetically alter fish or bacteria to eat up more plankton.

Zombies Outbreak Theory Mutated Rabeis? by James Shakedock - Sun, 08 Feb 2015 17:03:55 EST ID:81XeMxba No.13749 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

Like many of you may or may not know about that guy who got high on bath salts and ate a mans face was unaffected by bullets after being shot several times.

The list actually continues there was on even where zombie like people have ate people there was this one case where one man went batshit crazy and bit off the side of a persons neck and he bled to death as before cops had to shoot him but he didnt last as long as the other guy did

There was a huge viral outbreak in 2012 in south america and florida

and we do know certain rabies can infect only one type of thing
like animals for example..there is absolutely no cure and you have to put them down by shooting them in the brain

So my "logical" theory of a zombie outbreak is that rabies would mutate and end up infecting people
HOWEVER like ALL living beings these "zombies" would require food water and sleep it is absolutely impossible to live without a source of nutrition it defies biology

Now lets say how it will spread? One of my theories

lets look at the world right now...its complete and utter shit right?

MREs are godawful haha holy shit.

A trick you can use is mixing a little baking soda with the stuff, makes it easier to handle for some reason but MREs are loaded with preservatives and dessicants, takes forever for your body to digest them, I knew a guy who would mix them up with water and make gross soup/smoothie type things because if it's just a hard lump in your stomach OP pic related will happen.

If bugging in, can't beat canned food for the price. Just keep your pantry stocked and rotated. If looking for dehydrated food just buy mountain house, yeah it's a little pricey but it actually tastes ok and has a decent amount of calories.

Remember to invest in a good stove and water filter. Stockpile fuel and water too. Dehydrated food is useless if you can't boil water. You can't light a campfire everywhere.

IMO you should really only worry about provisions with a storage time of 10 years and forget rotating altogether. It's stupid to rotate when instead of doing that you can just eat healthy, have a garden and make money while society still works then when the supplies have 1 year left just donate them all to a soup kitchen and buy a new 10 year stock.

Less hassle.

Citizens executed more cops for the LuLz in NV than MO did for justice.
Was honestly amazed that something finally got humans off their couches in any state. Bout 20-30mins after i posted this, i watched the whole mob follow cops to to a bridge overpassing a highway, then the people flooded down the sharp cut valley to the highway below and immediately get themselves surrounded by the fuzz.
fkn retards.

Theyve been out in force up here on the rim of LV, surprised i haven't seen any MRAPs.

In summerlin last year I saw a house get raided by SWAT come to think of it and there were. they took like 3 MRAPs 4 Hummers and 2 paddywagons to freakin one house across the street. Head the breach, and a ton of noise and lights, for about 30 seconds, then about enough time to toss the house/loot it, then quietly drove away.

actually i should have that on video somewhere. i was posted on top of the gate to my neighborhood, bout 15' up. i wonder..

Hey, /fo/
after playing through The Last of Us, I feel like if the world when post-apocalyptic, regardless of the cause really, the situation would be very similar to that of the world depicted, with the general environment & government declaring martial law with quarantines and whatnot. Do you think this would be the case, or some other fate? Would the government even have any interest in keeping their grasp on America or would it simply crumble and the world would have a no-man's land approach? What are your guys' thoughts?

Also I'm sure there would be plenty of hunters and looters, also depicted.

I wonder if the last grasps of governments and organizations won't be as futile as we always imagine. I agree that looting, rioting, and general pillaging would be inevitable, but it's human nature to attempt to thrive through organized systems of civilizations. I imagine no country will remain unscathed, but if the standing armies can rally well enough to provide protection, people will flock to their safety.

Well I figure there will still be societies and I would assume still armies but I would wonder if the armies instead of making relief zones, would just help their own and leave citizens to fend for themselves. Because without a working government an army is just people without direction more or less.

>>A nuke couldn't take down all electronics, The EMP has a blast range that is similar to the the kill zone of a nuke.

I think 72 years of testing and documentation disagrees. EMP does not have a "blast range", it's electromagnetic energy, it doesn't have any explosive energy. It travels until it is dissipated.

Yield is not a mitigating factor when EMP is concerned, as shown in various tests such as Argus, Teak, Orange, Yucca, Starfish Prime, ect...

Starfish Prime was a 1.4MT W49 nuclear warhead on a MK.II reentry vehicle launched over Johnston Atoll via a Thor Missile. The missile reached an altitude of 680mi upon where the Mk.II was separated from the Thor Missile and allowed gravitational reentry into the atmosphere, At an altitude of 250mi during it's downward trajectory the W49 warhead was detonated over Johnson Atoll.

The detonation destroyed communications links, lighting, and other electrical services in Honolulu and various other Hawaiian Islands 900mi away.

>>A 1 megaton nuke would destroy any electronics within 4 miles, and damage electronics within a 10 mile radius.Which is similar to the 1 week kill zone of a 1 megaton bomb.Basically if it destroys your phone.

A nuclear device doesn't have a "kill zone", unless you're referring to the "Fireball Radius" which has no baring on the EMP.

Timely, since I went through a four day blackout last week. Since I'm on a well, no power = no water. I got some toilet flushing water by draining the water heater and fetching water from a nearby lake, and bought a huge jug of spring water to drink and brush teeth. Some stores had generators including one supermarket and all of the gas stations.

My Internet connection ceased to function on the second day and we lived on cell service (which stayed operational the whole blackout). We charged our things with batteries from the truck with an inverter whenever we drove anywhere.

We lost $150 of food in the fridge and our phone bill is probably going to be over $9000 from internets usage. We had to take sponge baths (which aren't that bad actually) but I couldn't wash my hair.

Good times. At least it didn't happen in February.

you should get a backup hand-pump for the well, or a generator, probably similar price range.
