The glow stick would be a good early warning system while people are on watch, maybe about 20 yards away. A area lights up whoever is awake on watch would be alerted.

It wont do much if youre alone or sleeping, you need like an air horn.

Its a tricky situation. You either have something so loud everyone hears it, or something that only you and you party notices.

Zombie/Raider wise, any loud noise will probably alert anything within a mile. Which you don't want to do. Maybe make some snares around the area. Not only do you get them tied up but you can have it so some cans jiggle when he pulls to free himself, its not super loud but enough that being 20yards out you'd hear it.

Think about this:
There's a stereotypical zombie apocalypse situation. Most gasoline will be depleted extremely quickly, along with much of the animal and plant life in the area as people cut down trees to burn, and hunt for food. What do you make fuel out of?

What about rendering zombies into biofuel? They're still made up of fats, proteins, and all the rest that any animal is made of, regardless of how much they've decayed.

A lot of other people will be using that idea as well. Using a wood gssifier requires a lot of wood in proportion to the amount of energy you get out of it. Highly inefficient and in the end with all sorts of people using it, you'll easily run out of wood to use before long.

You starve a fire of oxygen generating a incomplete burn, this generating a lot of energy rich smoke that is piped to the engines air intake.
The sparkplugs ignite the gas and makes it cycle without liquid fuel.

If the problem is post SHTF ammo depletion and the solution is relaoding, you want to go with shotguns, which are a lot like fireworks as far as reloading goes. If ammo is depleted, you can bet that reloading supplies will go soon after. You wont have nice, machine-made smokless powder in easy to measure grains. You'll be forced to make your own gun powder, which won't be smokeless, from raw, naturally occurring and hand crafted ingredients. Finding material to craft into projectiles will be easy for centuries to come, what with all the scrap metal laying around everywhere. Primers are going to be a little tough to make. So yeah, I agree, firearms wouldn't be particularly practical for hunting purposes if there was a total collapse of human civilization (like 95% of humans dying or something), particularly if there are enough hostile survivors near you that exposing your location would be dangerous. Maybe try livestock ranching using free roam rabbits or turkeys or something.

Why The Book of Revelations is a False Prophecy by David Copperpudge - Fri, 21 Sep 2012 16:43:34 EST ID:o4NY2kXi No.9684 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

I am working on a longer post, but here's a few points of contention:

  • The Antichrist knows he will go to Hell... if he is reasonably smart, he would read the book of revelations and do everything in his power to not fulfill those prophecies. On his way to power, someone would alert him..
  • Same goes with the False prophet (Unless he is a total dumbass)
  • Satan gets boned at the end. Wouldn't he know about this text? Satan is pretty fucking powerful, since evil is so prevalent in this world. You'd think he'd try to fuck up Jesus' plan.

Any thoughts?

You forgot that the sand-dwelling savages actually lifted their fairy tales from other, slightly more advanced sand-dwelling savages, modifying them a bit to codify some of the hocus-pocus to code some useful bits like not eating undercooked pork or contaminated shellfish since they didn't have the intelligence to figure out that pissing and shitting in the water supply would probably pass along some nasty diseases to your fellow sweaty goatherds.

Oh, also that bit about not coveting your fellow tribesman's woman or his ass or other cave-man type shit that would end up creating shitstorms on a daily basis that would distract from herding goats and otherwise being an uncivilized sand-savage.

Plus, you have to remember that the book in its current form isn't the original collection of half-remembered bronze age tribal gibberish, but a dubious politically motivated interpretation (typical Dumbfuckistanian Neo-Con version) of a dubious politically motivated translation (Modern English) of a dubious politically motivated translation (King James Version) of a dubious politically motivated translation (Latin) of a dubious politically motivated compilation (First and Second Vatican Council) of a dubious politically motivated compilation (First Council of Nicaea) of a dubious politically motivated interpretation (Saul/Paul, a.k.a. the L. Ron Hubbard to Rabbi Y'shua's Alister Crowley) of Rabbi Y'shua ben Yoseph/YHWH/Pantera's Jewish reform Movement.

Unless, of course, the OP studied the documents in their original Biblical Hebrew and Aramaic (Old Testament) or Koine Greek (New Testament).

You make good points. However, it is clear with some more analysis that the holy books are an account of the satanic Jehovah gaining a hold on much of humanity.
The men in higher authority, especially religious figures, kings, and barons, would use these books to ensure they would always have power.
As such, many of those arbitrary rules are manifestations of historical issues that were taken out of context, translated, retranslated, etc.
But really, it's bad shit.

Hurm.

Maybe it's not so much that there's a "satanic" driving force behind the proliferation of teh Bible throughout history so much as it's a self-replicating meme what has developed some sort of self-preservation mechanisms, vilifying rival belief systems and making itself a favorable device for those in power to control the masses, further propagating itself into humanity in some sort of parasitic relationship.

If nothing else, we're seeing the creation over millenia of a real form of eldrich abomination in this though-virus-- a gargantuan intangible beast controlling the minds of its followers, creating chaos, violence, and disaster as it burrows itself further and further into the consciousness of homo sapiens sapiens.

Although-- it'd be interesting to see how this sand-savage spawned Cthulu deals with this new crop of abominations in the form of "Corporations." I mean, shit, folks, these things are legally considered "people" in the eyes of the law and have more rights than us meat-sacks. Plus the war it's having with itself, since all teh Abrahamic religions have sort of split off from each other and have further split into different factions even within the three main branches.

So yeah, I suppose this is one way you can spin the whole "sweaty goatherd fairy-tales" thing into something /fo/ relevant without bringing up some fucker named "John's" bad acid trip, questionably recounted and translated over a couple of millenia.

Chuck
Scott
Maria
Kim

Chuck and Scott bring both offense and survivability, and furthermore compliment each other for stability with animal husbandry and farming.
Chuck has a Shotgun and a "suprisingly good shot" while Scott also brings accuracy with a rifle and extra pistols. I then picked Kim for her medical knowledge and sexual submission works well for making life a bit better and "reviving the species" and what not (and also, would probably not be so attracted to Chuck and Scott!). Lastly, I picked Maria because she brings plenty of offensive stuff to keep us safe, as well as the strategy information that being a military officer brings, and also because she is female.

I would go the route of settling down and surviving, which might have appeared obvious with my squad. We have the general knowledge and tools to get started after we have found a farm area to clear out and settle in. I, assuming I have the leadership, would make everybody learn from everybody in as many ways as we can and set up a big perimeter with a smaller perimeter inside, where we can guard from. I would hope to initially make it with Kim, and eventually Maria too (threesome maybe? idk!) from there we would just try and survive. I would assign the major fire arms for the guard posts, the assault rifle in the farther guard post, Scott's Rifle to the secondary post, and a shotgun at the porch/in the fields. Then everybody gets a hand gun, for style points, I would take 2, or maybe just leave an extra in the house just in case. I would ask that everybody have their side arm on them at all times, even when at a guard post. I would rotate people through the guard posts but I see Maria being best at the farthest, Scott at the middle ground, and Chuck keeping an eye on the house and farm with a shotgun, while Kim would be either slobbing on my knob and tending to any medical issues. I wouldn't dictate anything, and everybody would have a heard voice in terms of tactics and what to do, and like I said, everybody does a little of everything in terms of guard, chores, work.

So I have done research and it appears that a lead barrier of 3cm thick prevents most radiation from passing through.

The problem is, lead is fucking dense. Now, I could line the walls of a house with it no problem, but a problem arises when it comes to the roof/ceiling.

How am I supposed to prevent radiation from passing through the ceiling? Is there some other material that blocks radiation and is lighter?

Lead is still a possibility, but the structure would need some immense support for that much weight.

Lead is approximately 11.34g * cm cubed.

This is all just fantasy so any ideas, regardless of price are welcome

Probably a better idea and much cheaper without the risk of indirect lead poisoning

It takes about half an inch of lead to half radiation exposure while most soils take about 3.5 inches.

Since the the current price of lead is nearly a dollar a pound and is very dense it would really add up to line a fallout shelter with it to have a significant effect.

It's likely cheaper and safer to make a shelter buried under several feet of dirt.

Everyone knows gold holds its value over big, debilitating events. When SHTF, do you think stocks will be feasible, assuming the company can function, possibly even grow through the event?

On one hand, gold can be used as a commodity by virtually anyone for anything, but I would think stocks might be safer in that they would be harder to determine value of, and less likely to catch someone's attention as something to loot.

I do own a few grams of gold, not much but I am working on that. and I could sell it now and profit, again not much though. I fail to understand why someone would buy stocks of gold or have their gold shipped to a "safe warehouse"
I mean I guess if you had ounces of gold as part of a ira retirement plan... but still why wouldnt you want that in your hand?

no, all countries will not be fucked. i'm talking about, having stocks in a company that is well off enough to be able to migrate to a better country; will you still have stocks in that company? will they be translated into the native currency? or will another country have mutuality in that one, but in the next country and trade the old ones for new ones as part of buying the foreign company?

There was one called World of the Living Dead. Not sure if it's still up but it was an online game, make an account, based on Google Maps with different zones of density/looting/safehouse constructions etc and you can meet up/fight other players.

Basically you start off with a survivor and find more while doing quests. Each day you need a calorific intake as well as water. Can get upgrades if you find them and manage squads etc. Pretty good online game.

Only problem was when I played (a couple years back) there was no option if I went away for a few days as my lowly survivors needed food and water which sucked.

I'm writing a choose your own adventure novel for my final grade in my Mass Communications class at the community college. The prof said it had to be 25 pages long. I wanted to do the story like a post apocalyptic fallout esque type thing. Any suggestions? anything that should not be left out?

Twenty five pages? Well, page one's going to be the same for everyone, so you have 24 pages to work with. Pull a Goosebumps and make some choices only one answer, so they're forced to go here or there instead of always choosing which page to go to. You'll need to tweak the numbers on how many choices you get, but it's totally doable and maybe even easy if you supplemented your Mass Communications class with any art or graphic design classes.

Here's some inspirado/research, it's a sort of survival manual written as a novel. Plenty of points where the characters make the right or wrong choices and why.

>>11228 perfect! that's what I'm looking for! also any ideas I should contribute to the story? I like the robot X9 from samurai jack so I was going to do something with a film noire obsessed robot. I was also going to make lots of road warrior references and have at least one page turning decision where you have to pick a skill: repair, speech, medicine.
