yes but that says "cultivated" and you said "bred" breeding implies a process that requires generations of trees being grown and the smaller ones being pollinated and then the smallest of their offspring being chosen, so on and so forth.

you can go out into a forest, take a cutting off any tree or find a seedling and put it into a small pot and thats pretty much all you need to do to bonsai a tree. aside from trimming both the leaves and the roots and wiretraining the tree to the shape you desire.

some trees bonsai better than others.

>"nearly any tree can be bonsai'd"

that doesn't cross my assertion, it confirms it. Bonsai trees are not some special cultivar or a tree that is bred specifically to grow small. if you restrict the growing space of nearly any tree it will grow much slower.

the size of the root ball will always be proportionate to the size of the tree above ground. the ratio is different from species to species but if a tree can't grow it's roots out enough to sustain more leaf growth it's not going to grow more leaves/branches.

sure there are probably trees that have been selectively bred to perform better as bonsai but its completely unnecessary to do so in most cases. Every tree I have ever bonsai'd, from japanese black and white pines to canadian maples, silver birch trees etc are all seedlings I found growing naturally or bought at a nursery and put in a small pot

Took a class in college about gardening and horticulture for an easy A.

Bonzai works with ANY plant. Its growing in a small pot/medium that makes it tiny. You can do a generic apple tree, it will be fucking small but grow normal sized fruits and look goofy as fuck.

That being said, Bonsai also traditionally comes with artificial weathering to the surface of the tree and manipulation of branch/grow direction to give it the "it looks like an old ass lion king tree but is fucking tiny"

I keep delaying doing bonsai, might just go find a cool plant to breed online

How does someone find their "identity" or purpose? How do I understand who I am?

More importantly, how do I find out what I want out of life?

What do you personally want from life?

I try not to see "life" as a single thing, rather as a series of amorphous, but unique, successive episodes. 23 year old me is a vastly different "me" than 18 year old me was, who in turn was vastly different from 14 year old me. Before that I wasn't even a fully-cognizant human being.

The only constant is that everything going forward is built upon everything that has passed.

Your identity is inherent. It isn't something to find. It is something to cultivate.

Your purpose is what you make of it.

You find out who you truly are by how your respond to stimuli, the lifetime of experiences you acquire, the aggregate of knowledge you've both gleaned and gained through purposeful study, and use of skills and language unique and specific to yourself.

The cons? Life is finite and deisitions have repercutions. Thats the game of life.

Have you ever known about someone who choose his path and is totally unsuccessful?

I'm looking for a method of secretly video recording on the go - i.e. during walking adventures abroad so i'm not 'that guy' holding a fancy camera/phone device and pointing it around like a trashy tourist..

A not too shabby resolution & enough battery life and storage for using on/off throughout the day, with minimal faffing around (on/off button) would be ideal.
Products exist for this purpose and I'll list several below but I'm interested in YOUR thoughts on the matter.

Welcoming suggestions and potetial problems. Such as how to conceal device under casual clothes and use it without anyone noticing.

Alreet. I'm not a bona fide suit wearer so i'm not sure about how well a button style camera would conceal in the button hole of a casual shirt - upper pocket of or back pack/sholder strap pocket.
pic related is this: 640x480 video resolution, mini SD and TF card memory, usb cable slot.

Another similar model here: http://www.dictaphones.co.uk/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=SPEMIN4GB

As you can see, lens looks kinda like an actual button. Where does the rest of the unit sit? Gotta be inconspicuous as possible. Especially travelling in an unsafe urban area where you want to keep your wits about ye.
inb4 someone suggests HD video recording glasses - can't be sacked with that.

a teeny video recording camera module *Wired* to an android phone, microcomputer or battery+storage drive or something.. was kinda what I had imagined. (Discreet!)

I was wondering if you guys had any good sources on custom grow setups?

Led's preferably, pictured is mine.

It's a 400w fixture.

A 36v 12a power supply for cctv systems.
wired in parallel to 2x 250w and 1x 150w buck converters, for constant current.
The converters are wired in parallel to 3 per 250 and 2 to the 150.
50w cob chips of course, working at 35v 1500ma each.

Parts hit about $250 if you include some of the tools I had to buy. (but should have had in the first place.

Pulls 470w from the wall, I'll be testing it's ability to grow in a 4x8 area next to its brother when it's finished.

You are aware that LEDs even work when they are overheating, but their lifespan is drastically reduced. They also have abysmal performance when they get hot. Your 50000 Lumen might turn out to be 30000 for a few weeks.

Charles Bevinghere - Tue, 12 Apr 2016 10:23:03 EST ID:xDaS0dhy No.37892 Ignore Report Quick Reply

They are mounted to CPU heat sinks mounted to 3"x8" ducting. 2x 120mm fans pull air from the running CPU fans through the fins. all powered by one 12v 2a power supply.

Heats not a problem, I could hold my fingers against the heat sinks after a 12 hour fire test. its average time on is 16 hrs a day so far, and nothing has started failing yet.

Flat aluminum would never have the heat dissipation to even run one 50w cob.

Dude you're getting fucking killed with leverage. You should probably start with something that isn't a derivative before you bleed out completely. You can momo trade blue chips and make money off of it while taking only a fraction of risk and idk why you're still choosing to lose money to volatility burn in the options market.

You literally need to understand fairly high level calculus in order to build a successful options program otherwise you're guaranteed to lose money. If you can't calculate out the formulas, then you're basically doing nothing but throwing dice behind your head with your eyes closed.

>post your trades beyatch

No I don't want my funds to be poisoned by amateurs that don't know how to trade them. Do your own homework.

it isn't exactly leverage but yeah same concept. I'm arrogant enough to argue that you don't really need to know calculus to trade them though, simply determine inflection points in the price and when they're likely to occur. The time decay does suck yeah but the primary thing to nail is the price, if you're correct on that the loss from nearing expiration is dampened significantly. You're right though, I should try other markets like forex for simplicity's sake. Not too fond of the idea of chasing momentum/intraday trading. How long do you usually hold your positions for?

I do agree with a lot of what you've said in this thread, but I can't take you too seriously if you refuse to explain your trading/demonstrate profitability. Unless you're trading an incredibly illiquid market my $2k account isn't going to poison anything, also if that's the case the use of leverage would be foolhardy since price could gap right through your stop-loss, just my conjecture since you refuse to discuss it.

and yeah yahoo finance sucks but it works well for pulling up charts on my low-bandwidth connection, i use tradingview for paying attention to intraday.

I still got a 115 NEE put I haven't dumped yet, its current behavior is a repeat of how its behaved previously, two legs to a new high then a retrace to where it broke out. Should be ~113 by next week. Go ahead and scorn me i don't care.. might lose my ass, might not, we'll see. I've stopped trading for now, gonna sit back and study more.

Also, just to throw some more salt on ya I've got a good chunk of cash tied up in this https://bitcoinwisdom.com/markets/btce/ppcusd
average buy-in is ~33c, I've good reason to believe crypto will gain massive appreciation against the slow implosion of our current fiat economy. there are definitely tons of scams in that environment but it's one of the few markets where fundamental analysis means anything anymore, i'm content to go long on it. Feel free to try to change my mind about that, I'll listen to what you have to say, but be prepared for some serious discourse.

Whoops yeah, I confused the terms margin with leverage. This is totally leverage, however I'm not using any borrowed funds, simply paying an upfront cost that could either expire worthless or appreciate significantly.

Honestly though, you're really unpleasant to talk with, and I'm not really interested in arguing over who's opinion is better, you can say anything you want but until you post your performance it's not really possible to take you seriously, especially with the bitter attitude you're giving me. Being emotional about trading is going to fuck you over. If you can't handle being contested by irrational idiots such as myself you really have no business in the markets because that's what markets are (these days, anyway..)

To make a final point about options, they really aren't that hard to understand. If a stock is $110 and you buy a $1 put at a $110 strike, all you need is for the price to fall past $109 and time decay becomes irrelevant since the put has a value of at least $1 (you broke even); if it falls further you exponentially increase your returns (leverage) since you can exercise the option and then dump the stock and pocket the difference (or rather, sell the option to someone who needs it). What I like about options is that even if the price goes against your trade, you still have until expiration for it to return and fall back into profit. On several occasions I watched my position fall %50, only to return and move into profit because I had a plan and stuck to it. Chasing trends AFTER they materialize is how most people get caught buying the peak and selling the bottom. Plan the trade, trade the plan.

You can reply but I'm really not interested in continuing this. Pic related is my performance, had to shrink it to fit inside the screencap. Did some more trading and managed to recoup my losses and be in profit by about $90, if I hadn't gone full retard on PNRA initially I'd be sitting on some very nice gains. I'm literally just playing price action, if I think it's overextended I short, overcomplicating it really doesn't help. Trying to frontrun news and claim you know a market better than it knows itself is ridiculous. A ma…
