>How can I profit from investments?

Buy low. Sell high. Diversify. Take advantage of tax shelters like IRAs.

>Is there money to be made in the potential crash of the euro?

Somebody always makes money on that kind of thing. You probably won't.

The only people who make money off currency trading is illegal traders working for banks who rig the game in the trillions http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2013-06-11/traders-said-to-rig-currency-rates-to-profit-off-clients

Google stock just jumped 60 bln, so it's possible to make money speculating in the stock market but it's literally casino tier. Save $10k and use it to gamble away like you would in a casino and maybe you'll get lucky.

Anyone here ask for a raise or promotion?
What about job interviews when discussing pay?

How do you raise your own price without getting shut down by an employer?

>Job Interviews
Let them offer a number first, you counter by offering a decently higher number that's not outrageous, then you meet in the middle. Ever haggle at a fleamarket? Same principles apply here. Say you appreciate the offer, and counter with as much as you think you can get away with. If the interviewer/company is worth their salt, they'll usually budge a little in your favor. Do some research beforehand on similar positions in different companies within the industry and draw your numbers from there.
>Asking for a Raise
Go into the bosses office, explain the good work you've been doing and your many positive qualities, and ask for a raise or to renegotiate your salary. If your boss personally sees the work you do (ie a smaller company or family run operation), you've worked there awhile, and you haven't had any fuckups lately, it shouldn't be too hard. At a larger corporation, where your reputation and connections are actually more important than the quality of your work, cozy up to your supervisors or other important people in the company/division (bosses will talk about you to other bosses if you've been making the rounds enough) for a bit (few weeks/months depending on your current reputation) before you ask for it.

Also, school yourself to read between the lines when people talk, if you haven't already. And learn to read body language as well.

usually you have reviews with your manager every 6 months or a year or so.

at the end of that review they should have explained how you're going etc, this is the time you ask them about getting a raise.

i know not all companies work like this, but this is how office working usually is.

Comment Just wondering what kind of phone you think I should go for? Up for an upgrade and I'm not sure. Hopefully this fits into /howto/ since you can tell me how to live in a car for 6 months.

Looked at the new S6 specs and they've got no removable battery or SD, kind of what I bought the S3 for....

Looking for something long lasting battery, removable SD up to 64gb the least. Looks like a simple request in prospect and every phone is offering it but just wondering if anyone has a new phone just jumping out at them or if someone owns one that they think is a decent phone in this day and age. Considering again that I've had the slower version of everything for the last 2 years...

Thanks in advance for anyone giving me guidance

I ended up getting a Huawei phone. I have an old non-contract plan from Tmobile that's no offered anymore, and it's cheap and has unlimited data. I looked to upgrade my phone but they either wanted me to sign a contract and get a better phone or buy one of their non-contract phones which sucked and were overpriced. Other cell companies currently don't have any plans as good as the one I have, and I'm not willing to give it up easily.

So that left me looking for a phone that could be unlocked and rooted. I wanted a phone with removable storage and decent specs and battery life. I used a phone model search thingy where I narrowed my choices down and took a gamble ordering a Huawei Ascend phone from Amazon that came pre-rooted and unlocked. It took me some research to find the right phone compatible with the network and SIM and whatnot. Basically if you are slightly above average with tech stuff and can customize and configure network settings and phone settings, you're good. So far I really like the phone I got. It's got terrific battery life and it does exactly what I need. The one downside is that the phone originally connected to some Chinese app store instead of Google Play. I got it to stop connecting to ChinaStore but Google Play won't launch correctly. Apps I do download come from other sources. But I don't download apps frequently so that doesn't bother me.

It seems like they make many phones for the Asian market with expandable storage, multiple SIM slots, and tweak-able features but they make American phones streamlined and void of additional features. Basically, do research on what international phones are compatible with your network, data plan, and whatnot and configure it correctly when it arrives.

im responding for anyone else who comes across this thread

the removable battery thing is kinda a wash imo, a few years ago it was nice but now a days i really dont care that much. main reason is they have to over engineer the battery compartment instead of just making it a sealed contraption. this adds weight and size for what benefit? ive had my phone for 2 years and the battery still holds a good charge compared to what i need to do with it. if your phone is dying before you get home learn to go a few hours with out it, or buy one of those battery packs and carry a cable.

sim storage. i really do like sim storage but idk how needed it is, i have a 16gb nexus4 (on tmobile as well) i use it as my primary mp3 player. i normally have 6 gigs free as i dont carry that much music with me. by that much i mean over 500+ songs. i remove pics and videos on a simi regular basis and seeing as cloud storage is free and easy its again kinda a wash.

Most discount brokerages won't even let you open an account with that little of an amount of money. And you're not going to be able to buy anything substantial with $200, except for some super junky-ass ETFs or some ratty penny stocks. You might as well bet on horse races at that point.

the minimum account balance for forex accounts are typically six digits
if you find a place with no minimum, look them up because they are probably a scam

200 is no where near enough to invest in any real investment
set this idea aside until you have at least a spare $20000 to sink into this

if you're looking to learn, do fantasy trading. you use money that isnt real but you "invest" in stocks or currency crosses that are real. in doing this, you can gain experience in trading but without any of the losses that come with learning

if you're a math/compsci major try getting a job as a quant, ie real traders tell you what patterns to look for, you build programs that identify said patterns in the markets.

would be the best way for you to learn tbh, get a job. that and start paper trading in your spare time.

I'm homeless right now. In St. Louis after travelling for a bit and I might build a temp home. Im thinking I'll put up a wood frame and connect it with chain link fence, then cover that with tarp. I was thinking I'd do a few layers of cardboard under the chain link but I dont know if that'd bake me alive in summer or if it'd help much in Winter. Does anyone know if cardboard is a good insulator from heat? I'd rather not collect a bunch of cardboard just to find out it doesnt work, y'know?

Cardboard is indeed a good insulator for heat. Nowhere near as good as something like that pink foam they use for insulation but if you're on a budget then yeah it will probably work well. A couple layers will help keep the warmth in during the winter and should help keep you cooler during the summer. Depending where you decide to set up I'd recommend a shaded area in the warmer months.

Use glass fiber reinforced concrete, to make the wall panels.

GFRC is light and strong and if you build 1 well thought out mold for the wall you can use that same mold to pour 8 sections. You can make the mold with wood boards and the concrete will pick up the texture and look really cool.

Place a wooden or plastic box frames where you want to put windows/hatches/doors. You can also pour the concrete with tied rebar for reinforcement and also include some threaded rod or some bolts sticking out of the panels so that it hardens with the metal exposed for fastening the panels to each other.

Build it like this floorplan:
_ _ _
| _ _ _ |
\

For the roof use your typical tin roof sheet. For connecting everything together you may want to use some type of metal studs.

Paint it and insulate it.

Let me know how it goes!
