I have $200 to invest and a summer to learn how to trade and start my portfolio. The platform is understandable but I'm still worried about how to go about my first investments.(so much new jargon). I want to save up enough to pay off at least 70k of student debt.

Most discount brokerages won't even let you open an account with that little of an amount of money. And you're not going to be able to buy anything substantial with $200, except for some super junky-ass ETFs or some ratty penny stocks. You might as well bet on horse races at that point.

the minimum account balance for forex accounts are typically six digits
if you find a place with no minimum, look them up because they are probably a scam

200 is no where near enough to invest in any real investment
set this idea aside until you have at least a spare $20000 to sink into this

if you're looking to learn, do fantasy trading. you use money that isnt real but you "invest" in stocks or currency crosses that are real. in doing this, you can gain experience in trading but without any of the losses that come with learning

if you're a math/compsci major try getting a job as a quant, ie real traders tell you what patterns to look for, you build programs that identify said patterns in the markets.

would be the best way for you to learn tbh, get a job. that and start paper trading in your spare time.

I'm homeless right now. In St. Louis after travelling for a bit and I might build a temp home. Im thinking I'll put up a wood frame and connect it with chain link fence, then cover that with tarp. I was thinking I'd do a few layers of cardboard under the chain link but I dont know if that'd bake me alive in summer or if it'd help much in Winter. Does anyone know if cardboard is a good insulator from heat? I'd rather not collect a bunch of cardboard just to find out it doesnt work, y'know?

Cardboard is indeed a good insulator for heat. Nowhere near as good as something like that pink foam they use for insulation but if you're on a budget then yeah it will probably work well. A couple layers will help keep the warmth in during the winter and should help keep you cooler during the summer. Depending where you decide to set up I'd recommend a shaded area in the warmer months.

Use glass fiber reinforced concrete, to make the wall panels.

GFRC is light and strong and if you build 1 well thought out mold for the wall you can use that same mold to pour 8 sections. You can make the mold with wood boards and the concrete will pick up the texture and look really cool.

Place a wooden or plastic box frames where you want to put windows/hatches/doors. You can also pour the concrete with tied rebar for reinforcement and also include some threaded rod or some bolts sticking out of the panels so that it hardens with the metal exposed for fastening the panels to each other.

Build it like this floorplan:
_ _ _
| _ _ _ |
\

For the roof use your typical tin roof sheet. For connecting everything together you may want to use some type of metal studs.

Paint it and insulate it.

Let me know how it goes!

Paypal if you really want. Slightly hard. Google it if you want.
Also, if you want to buy them anonymously google that too. Will require some more work though.

i'm sorry op.

you need to wash every fabric you own. hot water, lots of soap, hot dry cycle.

either throw away your mattress or get a zip-up mattress cover.

then you need to get some wondercide (http://www.wondercide.com/). it's dephenolated cedar oil. works just as well if not better than chemical foggers. spray it everywhere, under your bed, under every piece of furniture, over every piece of furniture.

vacuum the shit out of any carpet. i forget if bedbugs are as susceptible as fleas, but baking soda sprinkled in the carpet dries them out and kills them. then spray the cedar oil all over the carpet.

i hope you like the smell of cedar, OP.

Freeze everything. The eggs and larva can't survive long times at really low temperature;
If it's cold where you live right now it should be easy, just leave it in your trunk overnight or something. If you live somewhere warm it's going to be harder, I hope you have one of those fancy sideways freezers.

Good advice posted in this thread.

To kill a FUCKLOAD of those little SHITS, take a wide dish like a pie dish or some shit like that. Put in a little bit of dish soap and then fill it up with water. Mix it around a bit. Then take it to the room with the bedbugs, or wherever you want to kill these damn fucking things. Put the dish in the open in the middle of the room, then put some light source over/in it. Something like a folding lamp bent over pointed into the dish, or a tea candle floating in the dish. Then turn off the light (now the dish should be the only light in the room) and leave it be for a few hours at least.

When you come back, the dish should be full of dead fucking fleas. The stupid fuckers hop right in there and drown like the trash they are. Rinse and repeat, bitch.

every second you are not in school be out there handing out resumes. hand out at least 50 a day. crash with a friend if you absolutly have to. when you get a job (not sure about costs in your area but where i am in canada where min wage is $11 an hour and an appartment is about $760 for a one bedroom) you can work about 20 hours a week and sustain yourself. you have to eat cheep, you have to budjet and buget and budget and when you are done budget more, but you can do it.

i moved out at 17, spent a month on a friends couch, then have lived by myself ever since. a room mate cuts the rent in half, and drastically reduces hour requirements. eat cheep, nothing brand name etc. live in a shitty part of town (rents cheeper there) you can do it. just finish school. everyone having an education means you are literally worthless without one.

Sounds like a combination of things.

Maybe, if you happened to be tech savvy and had just sold a couple apps for a few million back in 2012, you could have hopped on the Bitcoin bandwagon, and had some big payoffs after playing your cards right.

You then could have used a chunk of your profits to hugely invest in the housing bubble, buying up foreclosed properties to efficiently renovate, modernize, and flip for a decent return.

Combine that all with high dollar drug trafficking, stock market investments doing you right, and a couple franchise chains and you've got some pretty fat pockets my friend.
