so ive been a big fan of his work for along time, i used to be into bands like tool and pink floyd but this song blew my brains on many substances and hes got a place in my heart and mind even though hes new stuff kinda sucks,
if your interested in listening to some of his best stuff as a taster here'd his best live song IMO, just the BEARCLAW alone shows the intensity in his work (3:20)

Blind Willie McTell is probably my favorite Dylan song, but he has so many good ones.

If you like Highway 61 era Dylan, check out Mouse and The Traps. They were a garage rock band from Texas who I think nailed the sound better than Dylan.

Share threads are my favorite. You guys helped me discover everything from the existence of sludge metal to the fact that hip-hop used to be a legitimate genre of music. As my way of saying thank you here's a bunch of music I like, if people are into any of it I'm happy to post more.

Anciients - Heart of Oak
>I've seen it described as doom/sludge although I find it pretty fast paced and straightforward compared to many bands in that genre.
http://www.4shared.com/zip/MR0_kS1m/A-HO.html

Autopsy - Severed Survival
>Classic death metal and easily one of my favorite metal albums in general. Not much to say, if you haven't heard it you should give it a try.

Cut Chemist - The Audience's Listening
http://www.4shared.com/zip/6hh_GIvY/CC-AL.html
>This one I downloaded off a recent share thread, loved it, then later found out it's the dj from Jurassic 5. Hip hop beats with an IDM twist.

American acoustic rock, country, folk.

I never thought I'd get into Americana country sounding music but it's really nice so here I am sharing it with you.

Will you people actually listen to the song and the lyrics?
>My mama was raised in an era when/Clean water was only served to the fairer skin
Doing clothes you would have thought I had help/But they wouldn’t be satisfied unless I picked the cotton myself
You see its broke nigga racism/That's that "don't touch anything in the store"
And there’s rich nigga racism/That's that "come in and buy more"
What you want a Bentley, fur coat and diamond chain?/All you blacks want all the same things
Used to only be niggas /Now everybody play me
Spending everything on that Alexander Wang/New Slaves
The first verse is mostly dealing with the perception that blacks lust for expensive products (clothes, cars, jewelry, etc.), regardless of how unlikely it is they’ll ever see or own them.
He's covering a topic (materialism) that affects most of society, but especially his black fans who want to follow in his fashion footsteps and wear what he wears. Is he the first rapper/musician that had covered this topic? Nope. But he is one of the first mainstream rapper to do so. Cause this hasn't been his first time dabbling in this topic. Go back and Listen to the College Dropout.

Well, it's pretty hard to find kanye's anti-materialism message convincing when his most popular song last year was "CAN A YOUNG NIGGA GET MONEY ANYMORE? TELL PETA MY MINK IS DRAGGING ON THE FLOOR"

Hello,
I am looking for some rock bands, but im quite picky about style. My favourite band of this style is The Sizlacks. I was one of the first psychedelic band i have heard and lets say that they set my standards.
So, im looking for some music to listen while stoned/high. Preferably rock.
The bands i know and like to listen to while stoned:
The Sizlacks
Grateful Dead
Jimmy Hendrix
The Beatles
Quest for fire
The Brian Jonestown Massacre
Jefferson Airplane

And liking shitty music isn't a reason to get high.

But liking genius music is not a reason not to get high.

I deliberately left that one. I for one do not need to be under the influence to enjoy any sort of music - yet I see the appeal of drugs, in particular in regard to Goa, Full-On and Ambient. Well, anything that's psychedelic. I guess it is up to both personal preference and disposition. If you are a hard-core junk that needs 200mg MDMA just to feel something, I guess drugs are the way to go.

I feel that intoxication can reveal elements of music, songwriting and lyricism that perhaps you don't pick-up on originally.
Your interpretation of words can change drastically.

This has no effect over my overall enjoyment of music, its just different.

I generally hate most of the modern day "chart" music, this is only increased with the consumption of any drug.

to the OP's post. I've never heard anyone say "I like listening Miley Cyrus but only when im tripping"
As I have never heard someone say "I like Pink Floyd, but It makes me queezy after a Marijuana cigarette"

Swings and roundabouts I guess, personal preference to a genre of music un-influenced by inebriants

Hey guys, what's your favorite brand of full ear cup headphones? I'm looking to buy a nice pair that's 200$ or under, and looks cool enough to be able to walk around with. I listen to a variety of music, but mostly I'd say it's progressive metal/rock, bass heavy funk and bass heavy rap, and some electronic music.

So headphones that have a good bass kick, but not so much that it takes away from the overall atmosphere of the sound

I use a pair of AKG-240's for studio work (super clear monitor headphones with great soundstage, but leak lots of noise and quiet), and a pair of Sennheiser HD-280's for DJing and regular listening (powerful, good bass response, but narrower soundstage and can get a bit uncomfortable)

Most of my musician friends have ATH-M50's. I would probably have a pair too if I couldn't borrow theirs when I wanted that sound. They're probably the most balanced, jack-of-all-trades sub $100 headphones.

So I've never seen a thread like this. Does anyone else have any album(s) they feel this way about? For me it would be NINs Ghosts, especialy the first set of songs. I never really hear anyone else ranting and raving about this. I use it specifically when reading horror/dark/crazy shit and it has been my soundtrack for parts of the Watchmen, John Dies at the End, some Batman, and Sandman. I don't know why but I find this album to be enthralling and complete. I've never encountered something with a more luscious atmosphere and it just works perfectly for me when I'm using it as background music as well.

Would you guys care to check this out?
(The link, not the picture)

It's a song I wrote a few months ago when I found out my ex was fucking a friend of mine behind my back.
I recorded it a few days ago, alone, using a Samson CL7 condenser mic running through an old Tascam analog mixer, into the AUX in of a windows7 laptop running Audacity.
My first attempt at using Audacity, BTW.

unless you're putting out a release, an EP or an album or something, and sharing it here, please post your own things in the original content "soundcloud" threads
