Hey! You! Priceless listener and giver of constructive feedback.
I need you. I need you so badly.
Come give a man some meaning in his life and click on the above link.
I'll give back faves and follows, whatever you need, also I actually listen to amateur's shit on Soundcloud from time to time and I pride myself on giving good feedback. This particular piece of music would classify as breakbeat I suppose.
Or possibly chantstep because the lead synth is a man chanting remixed to exactly the sound I was going for. Please click and thank you so much for browsing this board and giving newbies a shot. And just for being you <3

How the fuck is it that there's just these random days, once a year, once every few years even, where you discover so much good music after weeks, maybe even months of finding nothing new? You discover one song, another, a whole album, a great artist, collabs and end up smashing in more music in one day than you've collected in months.

It's a better feeling than winning the lottery or dating the girl of your dreams. Fuck.

Music is the best drug around and nothing beats a good hero dose of it

yeah but people with good set ups can tell the difference between mp3s and original CD/Vinyl. Of course we all rip music but musicians deserve money. All the time, effort and equipment costs a lot!
Lillian Drackleworth - Thu, 18 May 2017 20:34:52 EST ID:w4O4C5G7 No.449274 Ignore Report Quick Reply
Just filter for .flac, .dsf, or .dff. I've never had to resort to downloading mp3's, and the biggest difference between a good turntable and a good D/A converter is due to changes in the mastering process, not the playback technology. Of course musicians deserve to be paid for their work, but buying a record is just paying their management. Donate directly, go to a live show, or buy merch. Plus it's already been proven that "pirating" has little to no affect on their bottom line. Legal streaming is far more harmful. I appreciate the sentiment, but getting preachy about file sharing on an image board is pretty silly.

Remember, the only way to tell the difference between 320kbps mp3s and flacs is if you have a $10,000 hand-made boutique USB cable made out of sapphire and nitrogen.
Lillian Drackleworth - Thu, 18 May 2017 22:23:27 EST ID:w4O4C5G7 No.449276 Ignore Report Quick Reply
If you can't hear the difference that's fine. Some of us can. Please don't compare bigger file sizes to charging ungodly sums of money for an even smaller improvement. One takes up a slightly larger fraction of space on your cheap hard drive, the other devalues currency by ripping of rich people who can afford it.

The only logical reason for getting a degree in music is if you want to perform in an orchestra. I know a few guys/gals who did their research, went to a school with well-renowned teachers for their particular instrument, and auditioned all over the country. Some of them are making $100,000+ now, I think the "least successful" one is making around 70k a year. Not the most personally creative endeavor, but it pays the bills. Plus they only work 2-3 days a week. Crazy amount of time investment to learn the skills and very competitive, but a pretty good payoff.

For 99% of people on this board, however, you're right. Getting a degree in music is stupid if you want to be on the creative side of things. For all their physical skills, a lot of graduates are cynical, jaded pricks... like this guy >>449162, which is probably why no one wants to listen to his music.

As much as I think Ozzy Ozborne is a faggot, I think he had Buckethead nailed down well.

>"I tried out that Buckethead guy. I met with him and asked him to work with me, but only if he got rid of the fucking bucket. So I came back a bit later, and he's wearing this green fucking Martian's-hat thing! I said, 'Look, just be yourself.' He told me his name was Brian, so I said that's what I'd call him. He says, 'No one calls me Brian except my mother.' So I said, 'Pretend I'm your mum, then!' I haven't even got out of the room and I'm already playing fucking mind games with the guy. What happens if one day he's gone and there's a note saying, 'I've been beamed up'? Don't get me wrong, he's a great player. He plays like a motherfucker."

I've not studied the guy but I do think he has a high propensity of being a complete snob. You also really depreciate your work when you release nearly an album a day. Doing 3 albums a year is a lot and really strains a fanbase. 1-2 years between an album is the sweetspot. It gives the fanbase and newcomers dwell time to find it and get into it.

He could also be extremely humble as well. I dunno. I don't really care for his style to be honest. I've not listened to hardly any of his work but of what I have, it is all rather samey. At his point, I would have picked up way more instruments than a guitar.

Yeah, because Metal, Jazz, Classical, Drum n Bass, Hip-Hop, Funk, Progressive Metal, Ambient, and Avant Garde are all "samey"

>picked up way more instruments than a guitar.
And he does in fact play other instruments

>I've not studied the guy
>I've not listened to hardly any of his work

They never really evoked anything out of me. I don't think they're utter garbage or anything but when I was 16 and all my friends were people who just wanted to sit around and smoke weed all day, they'd play their music a lot and none of their songs ever made me turn my head.

Grateful Dead music has never really interested me personally that much, there are a few of their songs that are really noteworthy to me. but from what I've noticed, you have to be a real hardcore drug addict to truly appreciate their music, because most of it won't make sense unless you're high on hallucinogens or other drugs.

>from what I've noticed, you have to be a real hardcore drug addict to truly appreciate their music, because most of it won't make sense unless you're high on hallucinogens or other drugs.
This notion that you have to use drugs to like the Grateful Dead is nonsense. I mean, I do drugs, but I liked the dead at least five years before I started smoking weed. And come on, "hardcore drug addict"?

The band has an unusually strong cultural following, hence the false notions that you need to do this or that to like them, but I know multiple people who only drink a few beers here and there that love the Grateful Dead. The Grateful Dead has a sort of integrity about them that few bands capture. They also push messages of love and kinship in their music, which contributes to the vibes they try to generate. Musically speaking, I've always appreciated their mixing of talented soloists with average vocalists. Their consistent refusal to utilize auto-tune live gives their music a very authentic sound, a nice contrast from the over-produced norms.

Give the song, Terrapin Station, a listen.
