Hey! You! Priceless listener and giver of constructive feedback.
I need you. I need you so badly.
Come give a man some meaning in his life and click on the above link.
I'll give back faves and follows, whatever you need, also I actually listen to amateur's shit on Soundcloud from time to time and I pride myself on giving good feedback. This particular piece of music would classify as breakbeat I suppose.
Or possibly chantstep because the lead synth is a man chanting remixed to exactly the sound I was going for. Please click and thank you so much for browsing this board and giving newbies a shot. And just for being you <3

I'm making a track on my comp with a drum machine and my guitar atm, the starting riffs are sorta slowish hardcore tempo in 125 bpm a min and then I've written some doomier stuff in 20 bpm, I can make the beats and riffs but I just don't know how to make the transition betwee the two sound good - what would you do? maybe just have cymbal rattles for a bit with no beat then start the doomier beat? Anyone good at this kind of shit's help would be appreciated, thanks

Sometimes it's as simple as a build with a snare roll or white noise, or guitar feedback swell that leads into a crash cymbal on the next downbeat.

That or drop everything real quick on the last beat before the next measure.

Try it out!
Lydia Brublingham - Wed, 01 Feb 2017 15:57:53 EST ID:405l3N2s No.448294 Ignore Report Quick Reply
Either make or find a sample of white noise, then use a slide to have it slide from high to low or vice versa between measures. Or throw in some sound byte from an old film or something that fits the mood of your song, or have a very short snippet of the first movement stuttered and filtered out like the song is breaking itself for a second

still stringing people along for the most part like usual

i used to really like tool for some reason, but i eventually grew out of that phase thankfully

i still like tool but dont understand the circle jerk with lateralus and anemia, I felt that there were alot of filler songs or just garbage on those 2 albums.

I think undertow is their best effort next to their live eps

weird, I thought lateralus and undertow were completely forgettable. I guess I'm in the vast majority for that. 10,000 days too now that I think of it. that whole album was filler outside of the singles. gotta say I fuckin love opiate and aenima though. I'm not aware of any online circlejerks over it but I did think the long ambient parts were pointless most of the time.

I'd just like to take this opportunity to state that using tweeters instead of regular speakers along with a micro subwoofer is the best for listening to grimey/grungey music. If you like to feel the bass in your chest & unintentionally make your ears bleed listening to music to loud I suggest saving yourself from any further damage by switching to Bowers & Wilkins tweeters & the smallest Definitive Technology subwoofer you can find.

ITT: we post music that we didn't fully appreciate before. Namely music that:

>You hated when you were younger but enjoy now
>You needed to listen to a bunch of times before you got to like it

Lately I've really been digging The Cure, particularly the song Just Like Heaven:

When I was younger I hated most 80's music, especially anything with synths or keyboards, but lately I've changed my mind entirely.

What about you guys? What did you not appreciate at first?

Y'all I just found out "Hallelujah Money" wasn't actually Gorillaz official comeback single. (THANK GOODNESS) Damon was prolly just trying to get back at the fans that helped hack his account with that *COUGH* Harambe meme video. *COUGH*
Nah but the playlist isn't really finished yet. Theres 3 low quality songs I know have higher quality versions out there that need to be uploaded to youtube because I heard them on soundloud & also that sea-sides album was the only video I could find with electric shick & shock together so bare with starting it at 30:05 & skipping to the next video after 36:00

The whole video was illuminati cancer except for the lyrics "past the chemtrails". Gorillaz has the power to wake people up & make them realize Zionists are in control; suppressing technological advancements & continuously lying to us about history & the real news which is why we have aesthetics like the hover board & why people believe the twin towers were actually capable of collapsing although it was obviously an inside job & most of all how the fallen hero Adolf Hitler was blamed for a fake holocaust that the media associates with Donald Trump of all people who is no where near as great a leader! Damon Albarn made a song called snakes & ladders with the same type of lyric (who put the chemicals in the food chain?) but he never released it when he should have!! This is coming from a fan that out of all 6 Gorillaz albums only takes out 4 songs from my shuffle playlist- 5/4 & punk because I think 2D should have made Noodles's style of punk music (Mix 2) & superfast jellyfish & sweepstakes because I think Damon let the rappers take to much control of Plastic Beach.

I remember seeing these fags in school so much and it always pissed me off how weird they look.

Left guy is like Seth McDouchebag who says he'll fuck your bitch but has never had any pussy before.

Middle guy is a 50 year 13 year old emo girl.

Guy on the right is a permanently sad turtle who will molest your children.

I still can't hate though. Livin the dream at 50 or whatever is neigh impossible. Most music careers die off well before that and musicians end up in minimum wage labor/service while doing lessons to 12 year old kids just to buy smokes.

I saw green day for my first concert in ninth grade, playing fucking American idiot. I was in a huge ass stadium sitting really high up but I was stoked anyway, lol. A few years later I got into pinhead gunpowder and liked them way more than I ever did green day. Their sound, and lyrical themes are so much more genuine than green days faux rebellion, referencing things like gentrification, friends drifting away, getting older, and other relatable topics (at least to me). I can safely say pinhead gunpowder is one of my all time favorites. The album "jump salty" is just about fucking flawless in my opinion. Also check out Aaron cometbus's books, they are really good,

I haven't listened to much Pinhead Gunpowder but I do know that songs like At Your Funeral, Swan Song, and On The Ave are good fucking tunes. I should probably get into them more.

As for Green Day, Dookie and Insomniac are still good albums and I don't think like 80% of Nimrod is bad at all, and I don't care how gay that is. They've been outright terrible since at least that Warning album though. I don't think anything past that is really worth paying attention to at all.
Phoebe Trotson - Thu, 26 Jan 2017 09:34:25 EST ID:q6W9xedp No.448240 Ignore Report Quick Reply
Also I think Mike Dirnt used to play bass for Screeching Weasel, and as much hate as Ben Weasel gets these days for punching women and shit they're a band you should probably listen to if you like Ramones-fueled, snotty pop punk.

But even then you should probably just listen to The Vindictives instead.

Good starts but of course there's the genre definers themselves. RIP ISIS. Not to be confused with Daesh.

And another of my favourates. Intronaut. Fusion jazz, post metal and sludge riffs, twin vocal harmonies, fretless bass.

Of course all 4 bands are mentioned in the text describing the first video OP linked. Music is not hard to find any more if you like something there's usually clues as to similar music all over it's comments, descriptions, recommended watching etc.

Oh and one more that wasn't in the blurb. These guys are largely less heavy than the other two.

Oh and a local band I've seen a few times

Toundra kicks ass, I love them. I'd say they're some sort of post-rock/metal with a psychedellic vibe.

Definitely Russian Circles is a must if you enjoy Toundra, although it's not as colorfull

Malviaje is another great band (from Argentina) that could get paired up with Toundra. They describe themselves as Post-stoner (i'm listening to them again and it definitely hits on the nail)

Another favourite of mine is Ufomammut. An italian post-metal band. It's on the heavier side of the spectrum but it's an amazing band. Here, this is my favourite album by them:

And the mandatory mention of post-metal pioneers Neurosis. They're by far the heaviest/darkest band listed here, but I just couldn't not mention them. (They're pretty far from Toundra, but I think you'll notice the similarities)
