I feel like shit when I think of myself as a "rapper" almost feel embarrassed, I'm 23 years old and still trying to rap.

I'm real good at it but feel like I'm getting too old for this shit, I still keep at it though just not public about it, I go raw behind closed doors.

I picked up a guitar been playing for 2 years now I'm getting real good at it even trying to sing but no matter what I keep going back to instrumentals and writing.

I want to keep up with hip hop but feel no valid drive for it and when I do try to quit, it just keeps coming back.

People make me feel like shit some times just cause I rap, I've been told it takes no talent to rhyme once and to pick up a real instrument, that was from a guy at the music store when I bought a microphone.

I don't speak of me rapping anymore as I use to, I think people now think I don't do it anymore, feel like if I do try get back out there I'd just get shade thrown at me again grow up type vibe.

This whole genre helped me a lot ever since I was a kid it's almost imprinted; programed in my head to bob to beats and try to lay a little rhyme over it.

Thanks for reading just a little rant

Cant give much advice on getting your drive back, thats gotta be a you thing brother. I will say that guy who told you rapping takes no talent is probably a rockist douchebag who think ACDC and Metallica are the best things to happen in music, so don't listen to the opinions of people who would dismiss an entire diverse and beautiful genre like hip hop, this is coming from a rock fan too. The way I see it lead vocals=melody instruments, backup vocals=harmony/accompaniment/chordal instruments and rapping is basically voice percussion with some microtonal singing here and there. Jokes aside about drummers having no talent, drumming and ergo rapping i think takes some serious talent and sense of rhythm and flow amd you should be proud of your skill. Best of luck man

Ever since I got into electronic music, I've constantly been told what I do "isn't music" and that I should "pick up a real instrument."

Fortunately, other peoples' opinions are irrelevant, especially when they're musically close-minded and retarded, like that guy at the music store.

>feel no valid drive for it and when I do try to quit, it just keeps coming back.
Sounds like it's just something you have to do. It's just inside you and you need to do it, that's how it is with me. Just do what your artistic instincts want you to do, dude. We are fucking music makers, we are better than everyone else.

It's Tricky to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that's right on time
It's Tricky, it's Tricky (Tricky) Tricky (Tricky)
