I've been readin' a lot about subjects who are taboo in the majority of popular music: war, street violence, crimes against humanity, animal abuse, sexual abuse, politics, racism, homophobia, mafia, etc
So I've been thinking what artist are really "real" in the sense that they are not afraid of talking about they think, compose and can write good lyrics. Names that I can drop off are:

  • Motorhead, Sodom, Dead Kennedys, Geto Boys, Carnivore, Nuclear Assault, Sacred Reich, Cattle Decapitation, Frank Zappa, Lamb of God/Burn the priest, Death (the band)

Please feel free to throw any recommendation from any genre... with vocals of course.

Gonna throw some examples

Sodom - Remember the fallen

Frank Zappa - Cosmik Debris

Lamb of God - Now you got something to die for

Geto boys - Street Life

Jimi Hendrix - Machine Gun (also one of the best guitar solos of all time IMO) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BRE3kjL3Yjg

Basically all metal and all old and or underground hip-hop. Being conformist is the exception, not the rule.

Probably the most risqué artist would be King Gordy I suppose in hip-hop. Metal has already a mountain of bands that have already went as far as you can go.

Capone n noreaga, tragedy khadafi (really good one), imam thug, DMX (some of his stuff), mobb deep (same, for all these artists look for their music from the early 90s), many other related artists I'm sure you'd find listening to all this music
Ernest Crogglespear - Sat, 22 Apr 2017 12:57:58 EST ID:E9isg8Pg No.448999 Ignore Report Quick Reply
Oh, and nas. But old nas, look for mixtape tracks from all these artists, like old dj clue and dj whoo kid tapes (there's some sick g unit on some whip kid tapes, they were real niggas before they blew up)

Surprised no one mentioned Blowfly or GG Allin.
Or the master of great, provoking lyrics Wesley Willis.

Man, GG was such a whore faggot. The only reason he did crazy on stage shit was purely for attention. If you watch anything with him not on national TV or performing, just interacting with fans and shit, he just seemed like a normal dude. I want actual crazy in my shitty punk rock.

What's sucks is that he actually made far more interesting and almost inarguably better music before he started throwing turds at people and assaulting women on stage. But all anyone remembers him for is that, and maybe Bite it You Scum. What an asshole.

>Purely for attention.

Yeah 'cos music is not about that at all.

Brotha Lynch Hung

>The decent but cutting edge and or extremist artists at least. Couple of these groups/people do have their shitty album here and there though.

Blood on the dance floor's music is about PLUR and being true to yourself, which outweigh even The Jonas Brothers on a level of lyrical baddassery.

Sure, but there's a difference between writing music that gains attention on its own merits and doing weird shit on stage in order to have anyone pay attention to you at all.
Nigel Blackhood - Sat, 20 May 2017 17:04:03 EST ID:59tLNgeW No.449299 Ignore Report Quick Reply
Not very different. If you show your tits or suicide on stage still no one cares. The music is still written in the same fucking way.

This is where you're wrong. Do you really think anyone would still be mentioning GG at all if not for his reputation and antics? Do you really think he would have gotten as much exposure as he did without any of that?

Also upload your music for ridicule, so we can laugh of you not being a legend in any way.

Most rappers from Rhymesayers are pretty real when it comes to that stuff.

John Maus would also be a good example.
