Been getting into a fair amount of older country music recently and I really enjoy it. I love how raw and honest the music feels. It's the type of music that can bring even the most rugged and rough man to tears. So I guess this thread is for older country music(more recent artists that play in the older style are fine as well like Hank 3). I've been listening to Blaze Foley a lot recently and man this guy was the fucking shit. I swear his life was what most gangster rappers can only dream of.

I too recently discovered old country i thought most country was similar to the country today but im glad i gave it a chance. David allan coes human emotions and spectrum iv are the albums that really got me into it.

I’m not even kidding when I say Dolly Parton is in the top 5.

Willie Nelson is also amazing even if the last 20 years has been “omg an old country singer who smokes tons of weed, how funny!”

Depending on how loose your being with the term country America has a near forgotten tradition of hobo and union music. Check out Utah Phillips.

I don't listen to much country, but Willie is amazing. One of very few country musicians that are genuine and doesn't give a fuck about image in the slightest.

This is true for most older country musicians, pop country musicians are the ones who aren't genuine and only care about wearing cowboy hats.

You also can't have a country thread without mentioning the original Hank Williams, the hilly billy Shakespeare.
