I was biking to my class earlier today and felt fine at first until I was walking to the classroom I felt some indigestion and then cramps around my back area. It got to the point where I was excessively nauseous to the point that I vomited. I laid down for awhile and starting drinking fluids and began to feel better but should I continue to rest and call out from my job at 4 or just go on with my day? Any advice would be appreciated

im getting my first prostate exam soon (for certain reasons) and I want to be nice to the doc and keep my poop off his gloved finger, is there any easy way to make that happen? No enemas, I don't care that much.
Will he even get poopfinger in the first place, like does he gotta go deeper for that?

Or, will he know that I purposely cleaned my butt just for him? I wouldn't want it to be weird like that, if it was

they don't even look at the glove afterward

they put the glove on, then while inserting their finger they look up at a corner of the room and small talk (I don't feel anything out of the ordinary blah blah blah), then, as they remove their finger, in a single motion they'll grab the end of the glove and pull it off such that the glove goes inside out, leaving the poopy part inside the glove, then immediately toss it in the trash.

this is the typical etiquette

People often do not understand what a prostate exam entailss. Generally it is a blood test that may ot may-not show abnormal findings.

IUsually though, a PST is recommended beettween age of 40 45
any things that would seeem abnoral in a blood test should
show up.

SSimple blood test.

Mouth Ulcer of Unknown Origin by Lydia Begglefuck - Sat, 09 Apr 2016 08:08:15 EST ID:XWgYKmaZ No.54001 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

Last week I felt something like a large blister on the base of my mouth. I ate a total of 7 apples and I am allergic to them. I thought that this was some type of immune response. The ulcer did not look like anything really, just a slight swelling. When I scraped it with my finger, it burst open. It bled a lot. It was extremely painful when anything touched this area. I have been using oral antiseptics and benzocaine to treat it.

The blister was on the plica sublingualis and between it and the wall of my teeth. So when it popped, it felt like the webbing under my tongue detached a bit. In the third picture, you can see how the webbing looks rough and jagged. The frenulum of my tongue also got very swollen on different days, like you can see in the picture from April 7th.

(1) Was this just an allergic reaction? I have never hold a cold sore or a canker sore before. And, compared to images of various mouth sores, my blister was extremely large. (2) What is this white area over the old blister? Is this mucosal tissue growing back? Is this an infection growing? (3) Basically, is this normal or not and will this heal on its own?

I forgot to add that, if I brush the area the white stuff immediately goes away. This can cause just a little bleeding. You can see that I accidentally brushed some off in the picture from the 9th.

Looks like it's healing to me but there's obviously still redness/tenderness/swelling so you're not out of the woods yet. Keep cleaning and using the antiseptic, just don't "brush" it so hard it bleeds... Maybe the allergic swelling caused a blockage in the sublingual gland? Seven apples?!

Went to a rave last night in Atlanta by Caroline Cablinglock - Sun, 06 Mar 2016 18:57:53 EST ID:C0R4GmwY No.53922 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

So I went to a rave last night and its a club known to throw the best raves in the city of Atlanta. I went with my friend. While we were waiting in line this older woman(mid 50s) got behind us. Its very weird to see older people their and she was definitely the oldest person there out of a crowd of a thousand. She was obviously tweeking and kept talking to us and saying it was cold outside even though it wasn't. Well she kept getting right up on our asses and we finally gave her that look to fuck off and stop talking to us because she got so close to us. it was weird. After that I felt a slight double tap on my back like someone poking me with their finger when i turned around the lady through something in her person and zipped it up. she crossed her arms and looked the other way back and forth. really sketchy. I went inside into the bathroom and looked at my back but it was hard to see but I started scratching on the spot I got tapped on and pulled out this small wooden type like splinter with blood on it. I freaked out and asked the bar attendent for handsantizer but they didn't have any so she said my next best bet was to buy a shot of 151 which is 75% alcohol and I went to the bathroom and rubbed that shit all over my back and basically poured the entire shot on my left backside where I thought I was pricked on. I have really big arms so it was hard to reach around to clean off my back thoroughly and the friend I brought thought I was just tripping out but it really has me worried the lady pricked me with a splinter that had hiv on it. Should I go get PEP? I wouldn't even be worried if I had been able to clean the spot thoroughly but I'm a really muscular guy and my arms have gotten so big to the point I can't reach around my back very well so it was very hard to clean and everyone was looking at me weird in the bathroom for lifting my shirt up and cleaning my back off with alcohol. lol. would that of even helped if I had cleaned it thoroughly?

>> lady pricked me with a splinter that had hiv on it

That's quite a specific thing to be worried about...

>>I wouldn't even be worried if I had been able to clean the spot

Cleaning the spot won't do much if the splinter penetrated deeply enough.

If you're worried, go get tested. Nobody can tell you if the splinter was contaminated. Keep in mind that coincidences happen and her tapping may have nothing to do with the splinter you found. The splinter may have already been in you and you didn't notice it before you found it; you didn't say if you were high during all this shit.

Need some advice.

Going scuba-diving this summer.

Have to borrow a wetsuit.

How do I cope with the urge to pee?
I mean: It's a really big problem! Especially at the beginning but also near the end of a dive!

Any suggestions?
Heard about the method of using a condom-urinal and cutting a little hole into the suit,
but this won't be possible for me, because it's not mine.

"Average isoflavone intake ranged from 22 to 54 mg per day among food frequency surveys, and two studies from Japan suggest that approximately 5% of adults consume as much as 100 mg of isoflavones per day. "

"These recent studies in men consuming soyfoods or supplements containing 40--70 mg/d of soy isoflavones showed few effects on plasma hormones or semen quality."

I wouldn't say the doses were low. It doesn't diverge significantly from average consumption. For the 5% who do consume more than 100mg/d, who knows, but I imagine that that percentage is much lower in Europe/North America than in Japan.
>>
Thomas Fimmlesot - Sat, 09 Apr 2016 15:52:54 EST ID:0hcTp+8/ No.54004 Ignore Report Quick Reply
"Few effects" are still effects, 5% is a lot of a population, and I'm sure many vegans in the US/EU are on par with the upper-end Japanese ~3 servings worth per day - especially if they eat lots of soy *and* take supplements somehow considered safe in the absence of good research into those levels. I'm not half as concerned with isoflavones effecting plasma hormone levels as with the effects of the isoflavones themselves. From all that I gather, the only takeaway I come up with is the importance of moderation. The little-bit-of-many-things philosophy applies to almost every aspect of life.

Is that supposed to be a logical refutation? Let's recap one more time.
>A couple limited studies on men who eat 40-70mg/day showed "few" effects on just a couple traits measured.
>Millions of people eat a lot more than that in their daily lifelong diets & 100mg supplements are sold OTC.
>Pointing out the lack of good science is grasping at straws.

How feasible is it to make conclusions on my brain based on getting an fMRI done while performing various tasks and then comparing the results to a normal human brain's fMRI result?

I always read about structural changes in certain specific areas of the brain that resulted from some specific issue or action.

Might not be the right board, but I figured someone might have some information for me.
I've been having some mild - moderate back pain for the last 4 weeks or so, progressively getting worse and worse.
I've been taking ibuprofen, but 400mg really only helps a little bit and only for about an hour.
It's in the middle of my back mostly, and sometimes my neck. It's almost the kind of pain that knocks the wind out of you a little bit, if that makes sense.
Now, I've noticed, I only get this pain on days that I work (fast food, in the grill), about 2 hours into my shift usually. Once the pain starts its with me for the rest of the day. Sometimes the pain starts on my off days too but not as bad. Sometimes the pain will subside for a little bit then come back. Sitting after work relieves the pain substantially, but if I sit for too long, say an hour or two, it comes back just as painfully.

What exactly is a 'muscle spasm'? I always thought it was like a twitching or something of muscle...

This may or may not be related, but about the same time I stopped my daily cannabis use, is when I started noticing pain, and as my cannabis use grew to a complete halt as of two weeks ago, it's been substantially worse.

I'm just curious as to what exactly causes this kind of pain? I have a general checkup in 2 days with my physician and I will be bringing it up then.

I tend to slouch when I sit, but I've been actively making myself sit up straight but to no avail. I've also noticed cracking my back either doesnt help, or actually makes it worse too.

I've never had a problem with serious back pain like this before!
P.S. I know I posted this on /qq/, I didn't know there was a health board, I mainly browse the drug boards lol

I know no more than the next guy here, but that's quite a bit. Judging from your posts here, you are quick to insult, write like an angry high school student, erect straw men, and fail to apply the dictations of logic. Just for the pleasure of reviewing things:
>u got links i got years experience
Experience in what? Chiropractic care, massage therapy, orthopedics, writing? If that's the case, why not refute Henry's advice with intelligent civil discourse? Even if you're omniscient, you still have to present your knowledge in a convincing manner, lest you miss the entire point of communication. "I have experience" is not a valid refutation, especially if you leave it at that. It doesn't help that you run on writing is important the point is missed if you can't english not to mention it makes you less credible. See?
>no offense but u actually dont fuckin have a clue.
You dont even know who he is or what he does. <-- You used that same defense for yourself, and yet you first assumed that you know everything about this guy.
>"dont go to people with years of experience and education in body correction its PSEUDOSCIENCE,
Henry refuted your uneducated response long before you started claiming vast experience and education in body correction. If you had started with experience and education as your authority to refute his post, (you know, instead of "u actually dont have a fuckin clue" and "i got years experience") maybe you would have gotten somewhere.
>get pills lel"
No one suggested pills. You have erected a straw mane, mane.

If shizophrenia --> excess Dopamine receptors, and
if abusing drug --> downregulation of receptors. then

Could I slow the onset of schizophrenia by taking stimulants? Stimulants seem to make the world so clear and thinking so sharp, so it seems like it would help.

  1. The dopamine hypothesis concerns an excess of dopamine receptor activation via signal transduction. Not an excess of dopamine receptors.
  2. "The theory, however, does not posit dopamine overabundance as a complete explanation for schizophrenia. Rather, the overactivation of D2 receptors, specifically, is one effect of the global chemical synaptic disregulation observed in this disorder."
  3. " It is also supported by the fact that amphetamines, which trigger the release of dopamine, may exacerbate the psychotic symptoms in schizophrenia." [1]

You can give it a try, but in the short term, I think you'll greatly worsen the symptoms of schizophrenia by taking stimulants.

Schizophrenics often report that cigarettes ease their symptoms. Of course that's complicated by the fact that nicotine can have a sedative effect in relatively lower doses over relatively longer time periods (i.e. chainsmoking - as you'll most often see schizophrenics doing). Many studies demonstrate that cigarette smoking and schizophrenia are correlated but is it causational or are they self-medicating to manage symptoms?

Anyway, the subject at hand - OP I'm willing to bet that any potential benefit would be more than offset by the comedowns/withdrawals. Also, look up stimulant psychosis syndrome. Many symptoms are shared, the main difference being the chronic nature and thought disorder of schizophrenia. Stimulant abuse has also been shown to worsen psychosis of individuals with schizophrenia.

nb why is this still on page 1? :( I want more /med/, even if it has to be people posting pictures of their dick sores.

Hi med, how do I use the Levothyroxine?
Do I take an amount, stay on it until the TSH value becomes stable, then add some more and repeat it again until I reach the desired TSH value?
And is it dangerous to use it for working out?
I heard that the synthesized amount of T3 converted from T4 can help regenerating the body better the more you get, until some limit of course.

I'd probably use it the way your doctor prescribed. What's this about working out? Oh you're taking a potentially dangerous medicine for recreation? Ask /fit/. Hair loss is a common symptom, so since you're taking this stuff to try and be pretty I think that might put you off doing so better than mentioning the health risks.
