When you fuck up shooting bad enough and don't properly care for an abscess and it wells up painfully when is it ok to attempt to drain it or to go get it drained if you're less junkie;ife and actually can afford to go to the doctor. Like do you need to wait till it comes to a head or can you just cut in early on when it begins getting red and hard?

Is there really nothing I can do but drain at this point, or is there some remedy like hot and cold compress that can save me from having to mutilate my arm because I really like them vein drugs and I am not taking care of myself well enough.

Ty my friend. I find needle draining unreliabe tho so I used a scaple tip to Lance it. A lot of the pus came out. I cleaned the area and my Lance a few times during the process. Did a fewmwarm Epsom salt compresses. Wrapped it in a ice cold rag n put rubbing alcohol on it. It still seems inflamed n swole but I feel better. Gonna bandage it and might need to wait n drink vodka to cut it more metal than I did. Fuck even h is no help.

Ow but feeling 60% better.

OK that's good to know. I've drained one successful abscess so far in my life without issue. This time I drained a lot of pus but it's still hard and swollen at parts. I'm gonna have to go to work on a motrin 800 and a klonopin for pain relief today. The cuts are probably not deep enough to not heal so I'm gonna have to reopen it if more draining is required. At least now I know when I HAVE to go to the hospital. Fuck living in the American Medical system otherwise I would.

Also the bandage appears as tho it's been draining through the night so I'm gonna put on a fresh one and check progress and clean the area.

I just opened that up to witness the most beautiful display of that off color brownish red blood mixed pus and got in the shower and 2 finger squeezed all that nasty shit out.

It's like the greatest relief in the world. After all the swollen arm debilitating pain of the abscess cutting it open and draining it is a relief, comparable to how one feels 150% after a nasty hangover subsides only greater.

Goddammit OK I am ready for work. So glad that happened. I'm gonna let this drain a lil more using a paper towel over the hour then clean it more with rubbing alcohol and peroxide as I've been doing constantly, then put on a topical antibiotic and covet the wound with adhesive tape. Also gonna go buy probiotic drank for immune boosting.

Tbh if I knew I could do this I would have never went to the hospital for my first abscess, I'm still paying that shit off. Basically got a 1,000$ dilly high and a night of watching chopped, popping vicodin, and eating Michelenas Meals grade hospital food. Even Heroin Helper, THE foremost harm reduction site dedicated to dope outside /opi/ suggests you just DIY. I have some pics for the use of /med/ and for shock entertainment and for yall to examine the wound as it looks now.

I'm halfway or so through my shift at work and I feel great. Popping an aspirin now and then.

looks like you have used human knowledge and skills to avoid an infection. you may now consider yourself superior to humans pre-medicine

honestly the wound looks incredible, i would expect much worse. only discoloration is redness, which is a great sign. keep an eye on it and keep it clean but looks like you dodged a bullet this time

I got a huge one,it was like a basketball sticking out of my back, from a uti. It burst and the nastiest smelling shit sprayed out of it. They had to surgically drain it,I stayed in the hospital on IV antibiotics for 5 days and it's still 4 inches deep and has to be packed twice a day. Fuck abscesses.
