Is there any reasonable possibility that a jelly/elastomer sex toy could harbor a live (i.e.still infectious) viral STD after at least a year of non-use? I'm sure some fungi could probably survive, but was wondering about whether viruses like herpes could survive on/in a porous medium (loosely wrapped in a towel in a drawer) after such a long time.

I know HIV doesn't survive for a long time outside of a human host, but I'm unsure about others.
