Been watching for 2 years now, there is a gym 1 and a half hours away by bus so I thought I would at least check it out.

Going there next Wednesday, they have a 10th planet and bang muay thai under their gym name and I was wondering how I should go in there and what is important to ask.

I have considered asking: What classes when, should I buy a rash guard for BJJ (at the beginning) and, of course, how much each class costs.

Going to task this somewhat seriously, so I want to show them that and other than training as hard as I can, what can I do so that I don't end up sparring 40 year old married men, what I mean is, I don't want to end up in classes where it is not serious.

Also looking for local boxing gym just to hone in on fundamentals a few weeks after MMA, sounds good or should I ditch the boxing style of striking and go with MMA style of punching?

boxing is good for more than just punching technique. it helps with hand speed, footwork, discipline and defense. if you can afford it (money and timewise), i'd say go for it. but first make sure they are training you to fight and not training you for fitness.

I pay 200$ for muay thai and bjj with mma
You will gradually progress into classes, don't think about it. Always remain humble and you will learn faster. Just tell them you wish to be a fighter, they will train you differently and put more effort into you. As for the striking style I cannot answer for sure as mma striking is constantly evolving and we don't really know what is best.

I just started training again recently and I have found success with my unorthodox point style dutch muay thai where I keep it on the outside with a erratic striking pace. I often counter strike but love to surprise my partner with a very unexpected technical blitz. It depends on your body style though, one size does not fit all. I'm not saying I'm good or anything, I need a lot of work, especially in the pocket-I would be in trouble in close quarters street fight.

So it seems mma is evolving currently in the striking department, mainly karate point style fighting(staying on the outside, out of your reach but then covering that distance that people don't expect then out of range after the strike) and tae kwon do kicks. Fighters such as stephen thompson, michael page, sage northcut, GSP have all found success in their point style striking. Is this because it is superior or so unorthodox that fighters don't know how to deal with it? What about the tae kwon do kicks we are now seeing popularized today?
Eddie Sanchez - Thu, 29 Sep 2016 14:02:46 EST ID:3iuDpjL4 No.57537 Ignore Report Quick Reply
there is unorthodox striking, but a lot of these guys aren't doing it. Machida came with strikes from unorthodox angles and it was very hard to find a sparring partner who could recreate his style. That's part of the reason he was so successful. GSP is similar in that he is so fast, you can't really prepare for it. As these guys get older, they slow down which makes it easier to defend.

there is also the UFC bias where they want to put exciting fights on TV and they think knocks outs are most exciting. are guys adapting to that? i think that's an interesting question. in what other world does Fabricio Werdum open a round with a flying side kick? it got people talking...

There are plenty of successful guys in MMA that don't fight like this though.

>Today, AXS TV and the Legacy Fighting Alliance announced an exclusive long term broadcasting agreement. The multi-year pact will see AXS TV FIGHTS broadcast 30 LFA events in 2017. The newly formed LFA is the result of a merger of Legacy Fighting Championship and Resurrection Fighting Alliance, both of which rose to national prominence on AXS TV. The promotions have combined to place over 100 fighters in the UFC and Bellator. The merger and new broadcast agreement have now set the stage for the LFA and AXS TV FIGHTS to expand on their reputations as the proving ground for the next generation of MMA stars.

>Based on the strength of talent within the combined organization and LFA’s 30 fight schedule, AXS TV FIGHTS will expand its 2017 lineup to 45 LIVE events (more than ever before), extend its LIVE broadcast window to three hours, and kick off its Friday night broadcasts an hour earlier at 9/8c. “The Voice” Michael Schiavello and UFC Hall of Famer Pat Miletich will be joined by veteran reporter Ron Kruck to form combat sports BEST broadcast team.

>“AXS TV is proud to broadcast the LFA to help create MMA’s premiere developmental league” said Mark Cuban, founder and CEO of AXS TV. “AXS TV FIGHTS’ expanded 2017 lineup builds on AXS TV’s thirteen year, 336 fight legacy as ‘your home for MMA’ with more live mixed martial arts and kickboxing than any other network”

>To accomodate its increased commitment to LIVE MMA events, AXS TV concurrently announced that INSIDE MMA will conclude its historic run on September 30, 2016 when it broadcast its 433rd and final episode. Mauro Ranallo, Bas Rutten, and Ron Kruck will be joined by original host Kenny Rice in a special episode celebrating the shows tenure as MMA’s longest running television news series.

>The pioneering program debuted on September 14, 2007 as the first and only television show devoted to the burgeoning sport of MMA. In the ten seasons that followed, the series documented the meteoric rise of MMA from a fringe sport fighting for mainstream acceptance to it becoming the fastest growing sport in the world.

>“Inside MMA blazed the trail for the mainstream media’s acceptance of MMA,” said Cuban. “Bas, Kenny, and Ron were there fr…

So every time I look on Youtube for martial arts stuff I keep seeing this one guy who seems to shoot all his videos naked from in his bathroom. And he must have a lot of videos because he shows up in the results no matter what I type in, and it's all 20 minute + talking head stuff.
Does he actually do kung fu, or does he just sit on the john and opinion?
What do his parents think he's doing in there?

Has anyone seen part 1 of this documentary on Fox Sports 1 in the US? If so, does anyone have a link to where we can watch it? Would be interested to see Punk's progress in 2 years, and at the very least, it looks like an interesting watch. Any thoughts or links would be appreciated.

PS4 version is HD. Sony has a discount deal with UFC for PS plus subscribers.

If it's important to see it live, don't depend on streams. UFC is real good at taking them down and the ones that don't get taken down usually die from too much traffic.

Yeah it's HD on the PS4 for the one price, or at least it was for UFC 200 and 198 so I don't see why it would any different, wasn't sure about the price difference though.

I think the best way to watch it though is in your local bar which will probably be packed, with a burger or parmy and a few pints of Carlton while everyone around you is going crazy at the projector screen.

Thanks guys. I'll just get it on PS4. Taima doesn't even work for me most of the time, and I'm generally of the mindset that I should be willing to pay for the things if I actually want to watch them — never mind UFC protecting their content. Besides, UFC is taking a chance on Punk, and the buyrate will hopefully reflect the value in their decision to give him a shot.

I think it was Joanna's strategy, cause she went the distance with Valerie Letourneau too. It seemed like she was thinking Claudia would come in to win three rounds, so Joanna would train to fight for seven rounds. If she loses the first couple of rounds, who cares, she'll win the last two anyways and possibly get a finish from all the damage. I mean seriously, Joanna looked like she had just finished warming up by the end of the fight.

> A WWE spokesperson has confirmed to TMZ that WWE will not discipline Brock Lesnar whatsoever for failing two different drug tests prior to his UFC 200 bout against Mark Hunt.

> According to TMZ, the spokesperson stated that "only full-time WWE performers are subject to the organization's wellness policy, which prohibits PEDs ... but since Brock isn't a full-time performer, he's essentially exempt."

> Lesnar tested positive for Clomiphene in both failures, which is an estrogen blocker meant to increase testosterone.

> According to the spokesperson, WWE is not a regulated athletic competition, and that because Brock does not work a full time schedule he is exempt from these rules. A source noted to TMZ that the rules are only in place to keep full-time performers healthy.

Yeah WWE won't do anything about it. Can't lose one of their top draws.

>Then on Tuesday morning, Lesnar got word that he's been issued a temporary suspension by the Nevada Athletic Commission as a result of his multiple drug failures following UFC 200. It's the first step in a process that will eventually lead to a formal hearing where Lesnar could face a two-year suspension under USADA guidelines.

Between the leg kicks and careful punches Nate was getting clowned on early. If Conor's stamina didn't falter by round 3 and almost cost him the fight he might actually have finished Nate eventually, hardheaded as he is.

nates gameplan was to let connor gas him self out in the first few rounds, it worked and if he would have gotten proper care on his cuts in round 4 he wouldn't have been blinded most of the round by his bleeding, the blood was pouring into his eyes before he even got hit in the 4th and if he would of dominated that round like the other 2 they wouldnt have been able to even hand out that bs decision, the only reason they got away with it was because it was close but not close enough to make connor the winner.

Hard to say. I think Nate thought he had it won in the 3rd, but Conor actually weathered the storm of offense and ended up getting a second wind in the 4th.

I don't think anyone can say either man isn't tough as fuck after that fight, however, both of them refused to go down.
