One of my friends was joking the other day about Vince's XFL trademark being for "the Xtreme Fight League" and what a worked MMA fed would be like. What are your ideas?

We came up with:
>No weight classes. Mastadons can fight 5'3" vanilla midgets
>Can win by escaping the cage
>Handicap bouts with mastadons facing three skinny tin cans

Also, tag team fights and triple threat fights.

I’d like to see more gimmick matches in MMA. That’ll put butts in seats.

They didn't, though. Not in Pride, at least. It'd be a nice gimmick once a decade or so like Mayweahter/McGregor was but it wouldn't consistently sell.

Wasn't that WMAC Masters?

Random question but what happened to Anderson Silva? It seems like since his losing streak there has been like 6 "pound for pound best fighters in the world".. this guy was seen as godlike and elite in his time. Do fighters really fade away that quickly?

You should have started a new thread for this.
But yes, when you can't pass a fucking drug test, it doesn't matter how good you are, you're not going to fight.

In this day and age, yes. Look at Fedor, back in his prime he was was the holy grail of MMA, fighters and fans alike hailed him as the all time great heavyweight. Fighting him was an honor and the mystique he had was unmatched by any fighter in any class. Now, he's a glorified can crusher who never had the balls to come to UFC and would be crushed by any current top 10 HW in his prime. The attention span of MMA fans is very short, here one day, gone the next.

It was like the martial arts version of Lucha Underground before that existed.

Silva is still ranked number six in the UFC.
Which is meaningless because he can't pass a drug test, so he never fights.

The only exception to this rule is Frankie.

I always thought it'd be kinda neat to have an MMA promotion formatted like a wrestling promotion. Regular (mostly) scripted programming with gimmicks, angles, live promos and undercard guys having short shoot fights. Angles of course lead to shoot fights on PPV and how the angles progress is determined by whoever wins and how.

The USADA would never allow anything like that

Vince would at least know not to dress every fighter identically. Also:

>RINGS comeback never

There's also some Russian thing called "Hip Show" which has teams fighting on an obstacle course.
Team boxing is an old tradition in Russia, they call it Stenka Na Stenku.

I mean the International Fight League was like this with the team concept and all except they didn't all fight at the same time.

Chuck Norris' World Combat League was teams, just one-on -one fighting.
