It's a special 90 minute, 3 episode season finale of Community! I spoilered each episode summary for those who don't like reading what the next episode is about. I'm glad that it's getting a 4th and final season so we get a proper sendoff, I just hope Chevy Chase will come back.

>"The First Chang Dynasty," 8 p.m. ET
With Chang in control of Greendale, the study group develops an elaborate plan to infiltrate the campus without being detected. While Chang becomes distracted planning a big birthday bash for himself, Jeff (Joel McHale) and the study group launch their sneak attack. Meanwhile, Troy enlists the help of the Air Conditioning Repair Annex to help with their break-in plan but knows he may be selling his soul to the devil.

>"Introduction to Finality," 9 p.m. ET
When Shirley and Pierce have a disagreement over their sandwich shop, Jeff agrees to argue on Shirley's behalf but much to his chagrin, Pierce retains Jeff's former colleague Alan Connor (guest star Rob Corddry), and the two must square off in "Greendale Summer Fun Court." Meanwhile, Vice Dean Laybourne (guest star John Goodman) makes one last ditch effort to win Troy over to his Air Conditioning Repair Annex.

>"Digital Estate Planning," 9:30 p.m. ET
Pierce is summoned to Hawthorne Enterprises to discuss his inheritance with his deceased father's former right-hand man, Gilbert Lawson (guest star Giancarlo Esposito). The study group goes with him for moral support and must all pitch in to play the video game of their life on Pierce's behalf - or risk losing his inheritance.

Seems like they're airing these episodes out of order. Sucks that Troy had to sacrifice being with the gang to join the AC Annex in exchange for getting their help take back Greendale. Can't wait to see what happens next season.

My DVR is set to record the most recent episode of Community. So I let all three record so I could watch them after and skip the commercials.

...however, it's apparently set to only keep one saved at a time, so it deleted the first when it recorded the second and deleted the second when it recorded the third.

I yelled NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO at my TV upon realizing this but it didn't make them come back. :(

Hulu Plus better get that shit uploaded fucking quick. Hiding this thread now before I see spoilers.

Anime that doesn't suck by Nell Winnerville - Tue, 15 May 2012 23:57:02 EST ID:rcrjQG+7 No.182233 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

So, I've been wanting a new anime series to watch, but I'm a bit picky. Most anime series seem to really suck. Every time I go to watch a new series that looks good I can't get past the first few episodes. It's like a lot of them have potential to be really good, but they ruin it somehow. I think I've watched all the anime series worth watching.

I've seen and liked FMA, FMA: brotherhood, Rurouni Kenshin, Samurai X, Fooly Cooly, Gurren Lagann, Trigun, Afro Samurai, Avatar, Cowboy Bebop, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Samurai Champloo, Death Note, Dragon Ball/Z.

Have I missed any?
I've heard One Piece was good. Is it?

no, you can have good japanese singers, thats not it.
i mean, for one, why does every anime need a spoken word song, and why are they mostly terribly written?

Re-watch most of the series you mentioned in Japanese. Hulu has Trigun, Samurai Champloo, Bleach, Naruto, and One Piece. Also One Piece is pretty good, kinda faggoty in a lot of places. The fights are fucking great though

Hey, I forgot to mention Macross Plus: the movie. Its on Netflix in Japanese and English, but the english one is heavily edited and formatted into like four episodes. Japanese one is waaaay better, even though BRIAN FUCKING CRANSTON voices the protagonist in the english.
I would describe this movie as Top Gundam

I thought all they did in Kai was edit out the filler and remaster the audio. You know, like the 6 second fist blur flurry sequences are replaced with a quick exchange without recycling animation, faces are no longer zoomed in on for four or five seconds apiece repeatedly during dramatic stand offs, they don't go to that stupid Namek rip-off planet where nothing is advanced or accomplished, and so on.
I'm pretty sure it's uncensored, too.
Unless you just mean Dragonball the original series, in which case disregard everything I said.

They dumbed down the whole show. They censored it enough when it was on Toonami, but now it's just sad. They changed it to target 7 year-olds, basically.

Some of the biggest titles in "mind-blowing" hollywood thriller are the Matrix and Inception. Both of which are officially inspired by anime movies. Hunger Games just straight up ripped off Battle Royale.

Hollywood isnt the same kinda creative machine that Jap cinema is. All that trying to dumb shit down for retards just ruins the final product.

Inception was about inception of an idea. Paprika is about killing through dreams, kinda.

I really liked it, and I also think it should be made into a full length series, however I think it should be a reoccurring sketch mixed with others like 'Mikey and Mutch' and 'Girls Basketball' - among other psychedelic and lo fi cartoon sketches. Ean's day seems like it can be a reoccurring sketch but I dunno about the other two, they would probably be just one offs unless you come up with a way of progressing it. Finally I thought the Ean's day was more clever than it may come off from face value.

yea i love that topic so i shit out everything i know as soon as someone mentions it. i also bought an original north korean wong bank note on ebay for $2, that's how fucked up i am.

funfact: Kim Jong-Il was a huge cinephile. he owned 20k movies and also kidnapped a south korean director, who was then forced to make a north korean godzilla movie called Pulgasari. Kim also wrote at least one book about filmmaking which is hilarious to read since he explains basic shit like the camera has to be held steady and all that.

the vice guide to North Korea is interesting, but probably not the best doc on NK they try and make the country look as messed up as possible. vbs and vice tend to hire, for lack of a better word, pricks, to present a lot of their documentaries. I haven't seen this for a while but I seem to remember the host guy jumping at any chance to point out + exaggerate things that are strange compared to western culture.

Its as if they set out to make the country seem as alien as possible, the host guy never tries to find common ground between the US and NK, he simply over exaggerates the differences. I just think that its a bit unfair that a documentary this biased and dishonest is probably the most widely seen film about NK.

for a less sensationalist film, try "a state of mind", or the national geographic one.

I would consider myself more of an average Joe type person (nowhere near having my own nice apt. in New York) & I don't really consider it pretentious. Just an observation of a different life style. I like Jason Schwartzmans acting in most things. Eventually every actor plays in movies someone is not going to like, not to say I would like him personally IRL. Plus I think Zach Galifianakis is pretty damn funny.

Just started watching this series! I watched the first 4 episodes of season 1 last night, and it's quite good. I admit there are moments where I keep zoning out, and I have to rewind and relisten to conversations two or three times to fully understand what they're saying.

Also, I'm having a hard time recognizing all of these names as well. Names of cities, names of families, names of bad people... fuck me, too much to memorize. I know the basic family names and cities at this point. I couldn't tell you their first names, but I know their last names, so I guess that's good enough.

You'll probably have to rewatch the first couple episodes a couple times until you fully understand the history. I didn't really get it down until after I read the books. It's a lot to take in in such a short amount of time. You'll catch on as time goes by, though. We all do, ha ha.

I had already read the first book when I learned that HBO was going to make a series out of it, but even if you're just jumping in now you only need to stick with it. Eventually you will get all of the little details down.

Yeah the show can be a little overwhelming. I feel like I understand everything that's going on but I have trouble with some of the names. Mostly with the more minor characters, though. This show is fucking epic.

>My face when that entire first sequence in episode 6

Everyone with trouble with the names, the game of thrones website has a think with the family trees and the main characters around them. Its pretty helpful for that stuff.

Not sure how I should feel about this, but I really like that new show on HBO, Girls. I haven't seen them all, but it seems funny and realistic. I'm a 25 year old male, BTW. Not sure if I'm supposed to enjoy it so much.

Anyone else impressed?

I find it amusing how everyone's basing their opinions and preconceptions of this show on the attractiveness of the characters and whether or not there's gratuitous sex. I think the show's good. In my opinion it's funny. Not hilarious, really. But it's not meant to be. I guess it's supposed to capture the stupidity/growing pains of twenty-something year old girls. Overall, it's definitely interesting and worth a look.

Guys lose man points if they watch a show aimed at a female audience, unless it's for manly reasons. Judging a characters fapitude works just fine. Just look at bronies...

i cought the main writer (the girl 3rd from the left) on Colbert, she's my age (26) irl so i figure i should check it out, see how my generation's being portrayed

garden state / donnie darko are the male-perspective generational movies i can think of for 1985'ers, i can't think of a TV equivalent

downloading now and going to watch it while i blaze, cheers OP
