The Office. UK or US? by Matilda Sinnerfuck - Wed, 18 Jul 2018 13:10:47 EST ID:qAi0gM9O No.400493 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

Want to start watching the Office and already saw some short clips of both.

Now,
should I watch the UK or the US-version and why?

Is this legit? The UK office is one of my favourite shows and along with Brass Eye, is one of the few shows I can watch once a year and still laugh plenty.

People Just Do Nothing is something I've always just assumed was shite. I've seen it advertised while browsing, but never actually bothered to check out. I haven't really checked out much UK comedy in the last 5 or so years tbf. My gf tried to make me watch Friday Night Dinner and that was absolutely brutal.

in regards to OP..

The UK Office isn't for everyone. Not everyone will get it, but if you want laughs, cringe and feels then you get the lot.

I watched about 5 seasons of the US Office a few years ago. I got a fair few laughs, but I've forgotten 99% of it. Michael Scott is hilarious, everyone else started to annoy me before long. Parks and Rec is a much better US mockumentary. nb.

PJDN isn't a great show. It isn't a terrible show either. It's kinda like the cast really clicked with Ali G and haven't moved on from that point of time.

Am I the only one that gets pissed off at live action dubs? I don't mind dubbing if it's animation but why pull that shit with live shows? Why the fuck are people too lazy to just read subtitles? Dubbing live shows always ends up being shit. Mouth movement never comes close to matching and fucks up the flow because the voice actors are never as good as the actual actors on screen.

I downloaded this show called Suburra, which was decent but all the sudden 5 episodes in the rippers decided to go with the dubbed version instead of subtitles and of course they didn't bother packing the original audio in so now I'm having to redownload 6 episodes just so I don't have to listen to this dubbed crap. Oh well rant over. Fuck dubbing.

Finally got around to watching the new episode of Power.

This season finally seems like it's starting to pick up pace a bit which is nice. I know you could say this about a lot of TV series but Power even more so. Every season is basically a rewrite of the last one. They spend the season trying to off their connect, the police are coming after them, Valdez covers shit up, a bunch of affairs, etc etc. Overall shows still entertaining enough for me to keep watching. Just nice that there's still at least one gangster show on TV I guess. You know to balance out the 90+ fucking police dramas that infest every channel.

Watched like the first 15 of Who Is America too. Alright, I still got to watch the rest I just thought Cohen's character is so over the top it blows my mind these people can't figure out what's going on within the first 10 seconds.

He made one joke about how his son was in the youth program for gun training (rip). That's not a joke on israel. Israel has strict gun laws. When you buy your gun in israel legally, they give you 50 bullets, and you're not allowed to buy more. So yea, israel is a regime of slaughter and lies but hey, at least they have strict gun control *trollface*.

Stan Lee was the one who gave Jack, Steve etc co-creator credits & public personas in the first place. They were draftsmen who'd been scrounging together work for hire for up to 20 years before the the Marvel Age hit, to fuck all fanfare & thanks. Jack was already an experienced artist when a spotty-faced Stan got his first internship, and was no better known or greater appreciated when they started work on Fantastic Four. Steve was a notorious recluse who resented the amount of attention working in conjunction with Stan got him in the long run. Romita literally owes his career to Stan giving him an opportunity and Everett, much as I love 'im, was an alcoholic who immediately pissed his own opportunity away.
He has an ego, fully admits that he has an ego, and genuinely believes that simply "coming up with the idea" gives him more creator-clout than whoever he hired to draw said idea on account of his gargantuan bleedin' ego. He was still infatuated enough by said hirees to emblazon their names on the front page, give them catchy nicknames, script stories where they showed up in person, drag them to recording studios for ad-libbed record routines, and fuck up early TV deals by insisting they be credited/consulted too when the producers only wanted Stan. Because he was the charismatic hyperactive demagogue that made comics cool with his constant bluster and dynamic vernacular and editorial instincts. Who gives a fuck about some cartoonist? Stan DA MAN Lee did, ya cunt. You only even know enough about them to bitch about them because of what Stan did to make the reading public aware of them.
Also I do believe you're pulling that last bit entirely out of your ass. Unless you have a severely sheltered concept of "broke". FFS Ditko TURNED DOWN Spider-Man movie royalty money, because he was the kind of kind of jilted misanthropic weirdo you'd never have fuckin' never heard of were he collaborating with Bob Kane.

God I hope there's something watchable this season. Spring had soooo much good shit. Well, watching Darling in the Franxx now after seeing Gigguk's complete annihilation of the show. 4 episodes in and looking good. Even though it's clearly ripped off a shit-ton of things from Eva it's really enjoyable so far. Also pretty nice to have the MC actually not be useless pussy for the duration of the entire series.

You and the other parrots like you are the ones intentionally being dense. First, TFA isn't a carbon copy, an identical remake or any of that other hyperbolic groupthink bullshit stupid people like you spout. It has similar plot points and that's it. Second, outside of this movie series, when has that ever been a big deal? Fucking never.

>outside of this movie series, when has that ever been a big deal? Fucking never.

It's never a big deal your'e right, but it's a valid criticism when the result is uninspired (Ghostbusters 2 comes to mind). Other times it works, though, because the stakes are effectively raised or an element is inverted (Fury Road, Terminator 2). I think The Force Awakens falls into the latter category. The degree to which people hold similarities against TFA is ridiculous, especially considering what preceded it. The prequels were a collective Highlander 2, and since they couldn't be erased, Abrams doubled down on reminding people of why they liked this shit in the first place.

Are elephants smart enough to understand movies? They can recognize themselves in the mirror, right? So would they be able to understand the continuum between actors and their actions? Would they also understand plots and things like that? I want to imagine a crowd of elephants in an outdoor theater all trumpeting with sorrow at the end of “Casablanca”
