American Horror Story returns for its eighth season Apocalypse, which is supposed to be a crossover between Murder House and Coven with possibly the other seasons being featured as well. How will they pull it off?

Hotel is good if you like your AHS as campy as possible like I do. Bit of a mess but it's got some fun parts and some of my favorite characters in the entire series. I liked the gimmick in Roanoke but it kinda wore on me as time went on and the ending bit didn't do anything for me.

I didn't like Freakshow either, aside from Dandy who's one of the series's best characters. The contemporary music numbers really took me out of it, like Life On Mars was great but Nirvana and Lana Del Rey songs in the 50s? It felt like Glee. I honestly dont remember the last half of that season cuz it just fell apart.

Hotel is one of my faves (like I said in the first reply, vampers and 80's goth music is my jam) but like others said, it's definitely more campy and more character driven. Also as a huge Buffy fan, I loved seeing the Hotel from Angel being used for more vampire shenanigans. The overarching plot isn't strong but the season oozes aesthetic. I think that's what it comes down to for me with AHS: the plot doesn't have to be great but the characters and style have to be stellar and standout.

Roanoke was really cool when it did the dramatic reenactment, documentary shit, but I think it kind of loses steam when it switches gears into being a reality show. It's a cool idea but I remember the ending being a let down. The scenes with the hick cannibal family tho is some of the best horror in the series imo, and the way they bring in the "real horror shit" after seeing it in dramatic reenactments is cool.

I was reading some articles recently ranking the seasons and it surprised me that so many people seem to love Coven and Freakshow. Those are the weakest imo.

I take that back. Coven had great characters and style but the season was so boring because all it focused on was "who's the next Supreme!?" And it became a Harry Potter pissing contest.

I thought the premiere was good though not a lot of horror out of the gate aside from the world ending and Stu being shot and being made into stew. I laughed at the “Stu is stew!” line but I like the post-apocalyptic theme. This season is already starting to remind me of The Handmaid’s Tale but I’m interested to see how the characters from Murder House and Coven will factor into this season. I’ve missed Tate. And I put the two and two together after they revealed that the character that met with Mrs. Venable was an adult Michael Langdon.

>>402567
Yeah I can agree with that. Coven had some good characters like Delphine and The Axe Man for example. I think that since Coven’s plot was mainly concerned with witches rather than normal people getting themselves involved with the horrors going on with witches themselves, it didn’t make the season feel like there were any stakes at all.

I'm liking the stuff with Michael and the had with Mr. Gallant and Ms. Venable. Can't wait to see how his half-human, half-ghost capabilities come into play though I don't really have a reason to care about anyone else right now and it was a slow episode though Mr. Gallant killing his grandma was crazy and the reveal of Mead not being human.

I loved the bojack - diane scenes where she calls him out for admitting his constant bad behaviour and if he just sucks up the gloom he could just keep doing what he wants. Her dialogue subtly calling out the audience as well as him was great.

Owl at home contains better emotional and moral lessons than Bojack. In just three pages it shows the foolishness of Bojack's behaviour, inviting "winter" in, that takes the show at least a whole season to communicate.

Bull. Everyone acted out of character during the event cause Marvel just wanted a tie-in to get everyone hyped for the new Avengers movie in a few months and they gave Bendis free reign. Boy can write but it's hard to get him to give a fuck about anything enough to write well. It's like Bendis watched Minority Report the night before his drafts were due, got high af off of bald head polish, and turned in a C- manuscript the next morning. Some of the stuff that went wrong probably fell under the purview of his artists (like Thanos rocking a Cable-esque armory on his body with huge guns and countless bandoleers) yet the story still made little to no sense.

Two years later and I'm still upset by it while not even reading that much Marvel stuff. I've heard Nick Spencer's Captain America on-going and tie-in stuff that ran concurrently was actually a superior telling of the story... never read it so I can't comment.

Rather than all that let's get into some fun speculative territory. Given Disney buying Fox and getting the rights to anything they want now (except for maybe The Gifted but who cares) which Marvel characters should get live-action adaptations now?

Everyone wants Moon Knight to get some sort of show. That'd be cool considering streaming services don't need to worry about S&P or the Comics Code Authority. I'd love to see a late 80s/early 90s She-Hulk series.

Looking forward to Astro City. No way in hell it should be limited to a single genre though. Some of the best Astro City stories excelled because they were from a different POV. Looney Leo, Steeljack, The Dark Ages, Pet Patrol, Street Angel etc.... and those are just the cape stories. Superheroes and supervillains have always been the backdrop for Astro City.

If the adaptation ignores all the civilians and slice of life stories then it's already dropped the ball.

Nick Spencer is a lot like Bendis, where the concepts are cool on paper but then his actual comics are boring slogs to get through with way more dialogue per page than neccesary and terrible jokes that arent funny and make you cringe.

Even for a new season of a TV show publicity stunt, this is transparent and low-effort. If they were going to end South Park they'd have ended it in season 15, after they finally acknowledged they'd gone stale.
No I'm afraid it will just go on forever, like so many shows before it it's found a dynamic in its twilight seasons where new episodes can just be produced endlessly and inconsequentially, because they're all completely forgettable. Can you remember an episode of South Park that's been made in the last 8 years? I can't

Totally. Predator movies dropped the ball when they stopped being about prey fighting back.Unlike most depictions of Alien-Americans in media, the Predators (Yautja) have no plans of conquer or co-existence. They just want to hunt the deadliest game they can find and brag to their bros about it.

And Predator 2 wasn't given a flintlock pistol. He took it as a trophy of a worthy hunt. Apparently some Spaniard gave almost as good as he got back in the day.

Now you say it, that makes a lot of sense. A lot of the excitement of seeing the trophy room as a kid and wondering about it all was what fuelled the want to see more of the films. Instead of doing that they just set them all in the same vague near-future/present with yet another rag-tag assortment of "badass" soldiers to fight them. It's entirely the wrong direction.

-Dee=Elaine with physical comedy and being unavailable to the male lead (Jerry's ex/Dennis sister), occasional freakouts
-Charlie=George because he's the bottom rung, the idiot, weird interests and hobbies (slime and rats vs public bathrooms), some Kramer with his occasional brilliance
-Frank=Newman with similar body type, nefarious schemes, and happy go lucky outlook

Good thing about this doc is it actually gives the Korean side of things, which is refreshing change of pace from them not being mentioned at all in any of the recent OJ Simpson docs.

Also, I really love docs like this that are 100% chronological order primary footage of a event with no narration. Unfortunately all I can think of are this one, an OJ Simpson chase doc that intercut with other news on that day, and various 9/11 docs.

Finally watched Sicario: Day Of The Soldado. I wasn't expecting it to be as good as the first movie, but it was still disappointing. It was also kinda predictable.

Yes. He could be talking about the four episodes that aired 2010-2012 or he could be talking about the one with two full seasons that was airing this year.
It's a mystery!

Stargate SG1 Binge Guy Here....Into season 8 and decided to do an update.

WTF happened to SG1 in the eighth season? All of a sudden Teal'c has hair, O'Neill is a General, Carter is dating some douchey cop. Some of the actors brought in outright stink up the place....Looking at you Jolene Blaylock...and the writing seems to have just gone out the window. The tried and true SG1 formula seems to be thrown out the window. You get weird episodes like the one with the billionaire who tries to expose the existence of the Asgard...bad acting by a bad actor with a bad accent and just a lot of badness all around. WTF?

Seriously, this better straighten up before I hit episode 200....

If you don't like the way the creator of a product works and you don't like their products either, you don't have to support them.

You vote with your dollar and if something sucks you don't give them money anyways in hopes that next time is better.

That's like saying that the fans ruined the chances of their being an other Stargate because they gave their honest opinion when MGM pushed out a half polished turd and charged $25 for it.

Get a grip.

Way to cop out for the studio. It's the studios that fucked both of these up not the fans ffs.

No, Singer is a legit pedophile. He hangs around a well known pedophile crowd that used to have big pedo parties. He's not just some guy who is into twinks.

This. There was also an underaged gay prostitute that named him and other high power Hollywood scum as attendees at some party for pedos to bang young boys. He said he had pictures on his phone as proof of who was there and what was going on. Shortly after it started getting attention in the news the story disappeared entirely. That nigga's probably dead now or sitting on a huge pile of hush money.

>He hangs around a well known pedophile crowd that used to have big pedo parties.

well this is true. Add Spacey to that party crowd. Garth Ancier. Gary Goddard, Brian Peck (convicted, still works with Singer and others including on KIDS SHOWS?), Bob Villard (convicted pedo and manager of child stars like Leo Dicaprio, Tobey Maguire and others you would know), David Geffen (kingpin in hollywood), etc It's like 6 degrees of separation but instead of Kevin Bacon it's kid diddlers.

What is something that not enough people discuss however, is Michael Huffington. Dude was a congressman with tons of money, so is it impossible to think the reason the DEN story didn't blow up was because of this? This guy put 500 million into this thing. And you can say sure maybe he didn't know they were pedos, however it's on video where the Savage kid from Boy Meets World (and why do they never ask him or Stiffler wtf they saw while they hung out with the DEN crew) shows up for a 'party' (read about DEN's parties) and then Rector says "Your buddy's here, Michael Huffington" Savage replies that he's excited. Either way, I think a government official this involved in a pedo ring is either the biggest story or the most buried story, and it seems to be the latter.

I think this rabbit hole is fucking insanely deep and could literally change EVERYTHING if it ever came to light, which is probably exactly why it won't.
