As much as my inner otaco would love to know wtf is being said in Japanese, to me, dubs are better because I can pay full attention to the overall show instead of reading the entire scene and only see the end of it to when it changes, even if it's not a direct translation. Really, I believe I watch most anime for the art & any philosophy first and story &/or dialogue second.

What's REALLY difficult is trying to read the sub and hear the dub at the same time. ;)

So last episode when Euron told Cersei that he would return with a great gift, do we have any guesses? I've seen people suggest Gendry, Tyrion, and even a dragons head. My only problem with the Gendry guess is I doubt that Euron knows how important that Gendry is. But he is due to return, no?

Other than like some of 2099, what good Doom stories that don't include heroes who stop him?

Other wise it's just going to be his face getting blown off, MAYBE but probably not stuff about his mom being in magic hell.

At best we it's his Latverian revolution but it will probably just be some generic story where he helps the US government then right before the credits decides he should be evil cause some girl who he met in act 2 died.

Based on the popular cult comic book franchise of the same name, Preacher is an absurdly twisted and action-packed thrill ride. When Jesse Custer, a small-town preacher with a criminal past, realizes God is absent from Heaven, Jesse sets out to find Him. Along for the ride are Tulip, Jesse’s volatile true love, and Cassidy, an 119-year-old Irish vampire, who is Jesse’s best mate. The gang ends up in New Orleans, where they must dodge local gangsters, dangerous secret agents in white suits, and the Saint of Killers, an unstoppable murderous cowboy from Hell.

The season premieres June 25 with new episodes airing Mondays at 9pm EDT on AMC

I get what people are saying about the last 2 eps, but as a comic fan, I can see where they laid out some really important character info. This is TV fans first look at the real Jesse Custer. Not a bad ass John Wayne but a toddler throwing tantrums when shit doesnt go his way. Like, beating up some dude who dated your girl back in the day is pathetic. Jesse is a naive bitch and this element of his character will lead to his Walter White moments that might cause the audience to turn on him down the line. If things go like the comic, these episodes will seem more significant eventually.

I caved and decided to start reading the comics, so I checked them out from the library. Unfortunately, they got vol 2 in before vol 1, so I gotta wait a while before reading it. Or I would, if I had any self-control. Looking forward to Jesus de Sade and (comic spoilers)Herr Starr getting raped lol.

That said, the first few chapters have been like the last two episodes: mostly character building and exposition with the rare moment of action or humor. Granted, the comics are much more compelling. I want to keep reading, whereas some of the scenes from the last episodes have had me waiting to move on.

I hope they keep Starr around like they are supposed to, and have him be the main Antagonist for at least a full seasion.

The SoK is overrated imho. COMICAs i recall he's supposed more akin to a force of nature in the comics as opposed to a character in the series.

This is a very true statement, I loved fury road . Charlize was crisp in that role . But the lady doc already said she's a femenist in interviews after she was announced as the new doctor and i'm worried that is going to become a recurring thing in her role.

I have a feeling that the fan fare will die down quick and the novelty of a doc with a puss is going to get old fast.

It's pretty funny, I'm glad I decided to check it out. Andrea Savage is way too good to be someone I've literally never heard of, and Jason Mantzoukas could make literally anything good. I didn't even realize until the start of this episode that the producers include Will Ferrel, Adam McKay, and The Lonely Island. I was pretty wary of the fact that it's on TruTV, at first, but it's good. It's on Wednesday nights if anyone else is interested.

Sakamoto desu ga

In no particular order, just a few that have kept my interest for their entire duration. Nichijou and Sakamoto desu ga are short and lighthearted by the way. Actually, Ranma 1/2 is also damned decent and probably the only pre 2k anime I can think to recommend at the moment, though I haven't finished it entirely myself yet. Four seasons in. I only find myself judging it when it tries to take itself seriously. which it has always sucked at. Otherwise my reaction tends to be "meh, not as funny as season 1 but I don't mind watching it when a new one is out". It isn't complete shit or anything. Kinda like late sealab. frisky dingo actually had a point where it turned to outright shit, really suddenly too it wasn't a gradual slip in quality. specifically that post-series spinoff about awesome x's henchman. god that sucked. I'm glad it was aborted before it got past two episodes. it had nothing that made the henchman bits good in the main show.

When the first few seasons were out, I thought this show could do no wrong and I could happily watch these characters do and say anything.
But actually, in hindsight, it was much better when it was witty, and not /just/ running jokes, long pauses, and "I mean"s, with a new costume set slapped on every season like that fixes it. Literally this latest season could have reused hours of dialogue from the previous season and I wouldn't have noticed (did it?)
>>385607 is right too, it tries to take itself seriously and it can't. Like I give a shit about who had a baby with who, like I give a shit about how well-choreographed the fight scenes are. I came here to watch sour people fuck each other over and zing each other

>John Heard, the beloved star of several huge 80s and 90s movies, died Friday in Palo Alto, CA ... TMZ has learned. Heard was found dead in a hotel by the maid service ... according to family sources. Police were called to the hotel for a report of a medical emergency, but he was pronounced dead on the scene. The coroner is investigating, and cause of death is unclear at this time. We do know this ... according to his rep, John had "minor back surgery" Wednesday at Stanford Medical Center, and he was staying at the hotel while he recovered.

>Heard's most iconic role was as Peter McCallister, the dad in the "Home Alone" movies. He also had roles in "Big," "Beaches," "Gladiator" and "Pelican Brief" -- to name just a few -- and also a slew of TV roles on "Miami Vice," "The Sopranos" ... and even the first "Sharknado."

Obviously his biggest role of his career was in Home Alone 1 and 2 but that's still pretty sad he passed. There's a quote about his career on Wikipedia and it's kind of a bummer to read:

>I guess I went from being a young leading man to being just kind of a hack actor. ... When I came to Hollywood, I was pretty much a stage actor, and I expected everybody to be quiet. And they weren't. They were doing their job, and you're expected to do your job, and you're sort of this ongoing co-existence. I was a little bit of an arrogant jerk. Now, it's a little bit more like, 'Okay, I realize you have to pat me down with powder every three seconds.' And I stand there, and I'm a little more tolerant ... I think I had my time. I dropped the ball, as my father would say. I think I could have done more with my career than I did, and I sort of got sidetracked. But that's OK, that's all right, that's the way it is. No sour grapes. I mean, I don't have any regrets. Except that I could have played some bigger parts.

That's a decent way of looking at it. But it's not like he was some kind of failure because he didn't end up being as big a name as Leonardo Dicaprio. A lot of it comes down to dumb luck and stars aligning and shit.
For him to have had such steady work means he was quite successful. And goes to show how hard working he was.

nah anime people are starved for dark fantasy action after berserk 16/17 was so shit. I can't imagine anyone hating this unless they have a really specific gripe with it. Sometimes a single plot element or character can ruin a thing for someone.

Speaking of, can you recommend any more dark fantasy action anime? Because I've been trying to get into some anime but most of it isn't my cup of tea. I imagine a good dark fantasy anime would be perfect, as I did really like Castlevania.

That wasn't why I responded though. I was trying expand upon those posts by explaining that while people are entitled to their own opinions, I had said that everyone should try to explain why they do or don't like something. I should have made that more clear.

This shit was dope. The animation is good, the voice acting is excellent, and Trevor Belmont is a perfect sarcastic badass action hero cliche. I'm really looking forward to S2. If it was written as a film trilogy, and each season keeps the quality up and covers one film in about 4 episodes, this should be just short and sweet enough to be the best game to screen adaptation ever.
