So what's the deal with this show. I hear it's actually a lot of fun. Is it campy and self aware, I thought at first it was supposed be some straight shooting modern Archie remake. I hear the kids do adderall, kill people and fuck or something?

and ya, I know Archie has always been a little weird but it's adaptations never seem to remember that. Little Orphan Annie fought fucking Nazi's ... I'm yet to see that in an adaptation.

That one's pretty sexy.
Not what I meant by "the page" though. I was referring to times in street-level comics where the titular superhero dwells on the problems that Avengers let slip through the cracks. Happened in Thunderstrike, happened in Black Panther Man Without Fear, I'm presuming it must have happened in Spider-man & Daredevil multiple times. It's why the Netflix thing works IMO, street level heroes are already largely divorced from Avengers business in the comics & have their own tone to boot. Hell Spidey & Daredevil never getting & not even wanting to be Avengers respectively was a running joke for decades.

To be honest I legit like Gotham more each season, even when they borderline batman and Robin movie ridiculous

Not too big of a fan of the Barbara, Tabitha and Selena subplot, but that's the good thing about Gotham, there's always a few different stories going on and they're generally good.

Evil partyboy Bruce storyline is pretty cool, and Zsaz's replacement because he's "off visiting his Grandma this week" fit in so well with the Gotham setting, too bad he's dead now, not that it's stopped anyone before.

We didn't even see the Riddler/Grundy/Lee this week, with the Pyg being pretty good this week, as well as Gordon v corruption as well.

Jim Gordon is probably my favourite 'vanilla' good guy on TV this year.

This has to be the only time Zsasz has been campy of lovable, it's something I would have never imagined. The Pig is great, I was a bit disappointed with Scarecrow so it's good were getting another "spooky" villain this season. Headhunter is a character that could only work on this show. The dude sounds like when Jordan Peele try's to sound gangster in sketches. I hope it's not the last we see of him TBH

The new Twin Peaks book is out, I read it so you don't have to. There were two things of note I figured I would post here since they seemed to clarify some of the weird shot from the new episodes. First off, the little girl from the mushroom flashback who had a monster go down her throat after that radio broadcast THIS IS THE WATER AND THIS IS THE WELL.. anyways, that girl was Laura Palmer's mother.

Ok, time for where shit gets really weird. Apparently, Cooper really did save Laura. He re-wrote time and now everyone except for the FBI characters in season 3 has new memories of Laura just going missing one day, no longer recalling her dead body being found and the subsequent confession from her father. Leland Palmer is now considered dead of suicide from grief over not knowing what happened to his daughter. So as for Cooper's question of "what year is this?" i suspect the answer is "whatever year in which someone pays Lynch enough money to make moar".

Ok, was talking to some people at work about movies and got to the subject of horror movies. While talking the question was brought up about.... space. For the last few minutes of the break, we were racking our brains trying to think of horror movies set in space. Could only come up with 4. Event Horizon, Pandorum (borderline between horror and action), Apollo 18 and Alien.

So, my question is.... what other horror movies are set in space? Space meaning not on earth.

I like style-over-substance things like Antichrist and Neon Demon, but I also like slower-paced ones like House of the Devil and Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Would you know of anything like that?

The Lovecraft tale tis based on fucked me up for life, but the movie was just a zany Hellraiser-ripoff fun romp. In the original story, the main character discovers that all wind is actually just swarms of invisible jellyfish slobbering their tentacles on you as they pass, this concept still gets to me on windy days. Movie skipped that aspect, if memory serves.

Just got home from seeing Jigsaw. I'm a huge Saw fan but this one was very meh. If you've seen the old films, you'll probably figure out the twists and be able to spot who the killer is out of the motley crew of new characters.

Saw power rankings: 1>4>6>2>7>3>8>5
that places Jigsaw as the 2nd worst one yet. Dag. ALso, I can handle the plot being predictable as long as the deaths and violence is good. The traps were dumb and had no thought put into them. I gauranfuckingtee I could have written a better Saw script than this.

I saw this for the second time and I still have questions. Why is is snowing is Los Angeles? Then I remember at the beginning of the movie "have you ever seen a miracle?". I want to like the plot of this movie, outstanding visuals and sound aside, sometimes it's just so convulsed. It's a mess. But I imagine putting together somethibg of this scale and trying to keep it under three hours is a bit difficult as you could tell if you saw the movie. 2 hours and 44 mins and I left more confused about this world than before.

So is K dead? Who is the child? Why do I still not know if Deckard is a replicant or not? Who's memories are K's?

I hate this movie why couldnt they have kept it the epic Sci fi goodness the orginal was?

The US one has a fantastic first season though. The next three seasons just go in circles trying to make you question if the season 1 finale was real or not then confirms it anyway in the last season. Such a waste of time. It's one of those shows where I'll still rewatch eps from the first season occasionally but try to forget about the rest.

I think its kind of like rick and morty in a way, it was cool until everyone started referencing it and because people start referencing it so much they end up hating the show.

The mighty boosh has some really cool moments, especially when you're on acid, but i think it just suffered from people overhyping it and over referencing it.

Captain Alatriste: The Spanish Musketeer (2006)
Viggo Mortensen plays the Spanish soldier-turned-mercenary Captain Alatriste, a heroic figure from the country's 17th century imperial wars.

Beautiful cinematography.

Funded in part by the Spanish government, high quality cinema.
Just rip the file from youtube since the old public torrents I found were hardly seeding and bad quality.
It's a Spanish film but subs are in the description of the vid.
Viggo speaks like 7 languages fluently so no dub.

Finally got around to consistently watching Love Live and this show is hella inspiring. It’s getting me back into my art and have motivation to exist for something more than distracting my mind til death.

I basically accepted that my life would be empty and I might as well somnambulize myself with video games and a decent paying job until it all ended. I figured why kill myself but why really live either? My art declined and while I kept it in a waking sleep to fight the boredom it never progressed.

I used to be a fucking virtuoso. I mean I toured the east coast with classical music and gave lectures and stuff. I got so burned out on that.

Now, Love Live has pushed me into a new phase of life. Watching μs grow from a silly teenage dream to the sensation it is reminded me of the beauty of those early days, wearing the white belt and embarrassing myself with my art. I forgot that it’s ok to be the beginner in something, that it’s natural to suck and the fun is in watching your hard work pay off.

Something that really hit home for me was watching Eli senpai’s character open up. The way she used to be great (but not too great) and had to measure up to a lot of pressure, and how that affected her stubborn, condescending attitude. I think that’s where I started going down hill. I thought I was so good and in the end that ego was holding me back just like Eli senpai. Letting go and having fun with something different is exactly what I needed!

I wish I could shake the hands of each one of those anime girls and tell them how grateful I am for their pseudo-inspirational bullshit. Love Live saved my fucking life!
