Premieres tomorrow (Wednesdays) on FXX 10:30pm.

S1 was pretty sharp, S2 wasn't as good but still solid, hopefully S3 picks up some slack

I thought season 2 was as good as the first season and the whole transformers fight between Mike and Josh was hilarious. It's a fun show just to see Josh awkwardly navigating through the surreal world of dating and Mike being a bro.

Great season premiere. I really got a kick out of the border patrol being put outside of Lucy's apartment, dumping Josh's things in the waste barrel and Mike being Jim Jones. Sucks no one's been talking about it but I think it's an underrated comedy.

I'm sure we've all had a friend like Mike. The bit about him being the head of a bro cult was great. The biggest laugh I got out of the episode was when Josh asked Mike if everything worked out ok after the Vodka Kool-Aid ceremony "Uh... No". The bit with everyone laughed at the room mate because she "doesn't know" how she broke her arm was funny too

I think that had to be one of my favorite episodes so far. I liked how it approached the meeting of the parents with Josh introducing Lucy to his. The way the episode developed with Josh's mom's behavior becoming stalkerish and even trying to kill the president was funny as hell. Also all that ranch at the dinner. I'm sure Mike would have loved to have been at there.

How are you REAL Trekkies out there feeling about the new movies?

I'm not really a huge Trekkie but I've always liked the movies.
I've watched the Voyager series, some of Next Generation, all of the next gen movies, and just started watching the original series. 66... wow.

I like how they've made it an alternate timeline. How do others feel about their approach and the movies thus far? Just curious. I think the third one here was kind of 'meh' 3.5 stars. Too many scene cuts... film director failed mainly.

Pop culture fact I learned listening to old Howard Stern

>People were already using the phrase "That's so 80s" before the 80s even ended
I heard Jerry Seinfeld in 1989 memorializing the 80s, talking about them being a unique cultural moment and joking that all things 80s would die the moment the 90s started and how culture would radically shift solely because of the decade changing numbers and wondering what 90s would be like compared to 80s.

>When South Park first debuted, all comedians thought it ripped them off
Apparently every comedian swears they pitched South Park to Comedy Central, saying they proposed a raunchy animated show, claiming Comedy Central screwed them over and hired Matt and Trey to make an animated show instead, probably because they were unknown so they could pay them less than an established comedian.

US or UK version? Both are great. Whichever you chose, what the other when you finish and want more. It's the rare case of an adaption being amazing but also completely different. Only the first seasons are the same, season 2 onwards with both shows go in completely different directions.

I've only seen bits and pieces of the American version, and most of them from S6. Is the british version also about the struggles of being poor and trashy but just, y'know, british trash instead?

>Parks and Recreation s06e03-8 - The Pawnee-Eagleton Tip Off Classic, Doppelgängers, Gin It Up!, Filibuster, Recall Vote & Fluoride

The last episode I watched was great for the parts where Tom was promoting T-Dazzle/H2Flow and Chris thinking that Ron making the crib had hidden metaphors for parenting attached to it. And it was cool to see Tatiana Maslany make a guest appearance on the show.

>Son of Zorn s01e10 - Radioactive Ex-Girlfriend

It was alright if not for Craig's bad impersonations and Eadie's attempts to stop Alan from playing the glass harp. Not as good as the lasr episode, which I think has been the best one so far.

It was a great episode and hopefully a step in the right direction if they stick with it since this is one of the first times that we've seen Jimmy Jr. see Tina as more than just an acquaintance even after he finally understood that his feelings were more than just Tina controlling a robot. I also enjoyed the parts with Gene and Louise pretending Tina's robot was a security robot in front of that security guard and Bob trying to find the right time for a banjo moment.

Yeah, same concept. The first 12 episodes of the US and UK versions are close to a line-for-line remake just in Chicago instead of England. After that, the US remake took the characters and story in totally different directions. Both retain the Trailer Park Boys trashy lifestyle vibe through-out.

What was the name of that cartoon that use to play on Adult Swim back in the day?
It was about two brothers, they both had blue hair (the animation of the whole show was weird), one was a stereotypical nerd with glasses and a button upshirt, and the other was his nifty cool guy brother that partied all the time. I think they were both in college.
There was also this guy that use to go up to people and whisper in their ear, "Penis penis penis penis" and run away laughing manically?
Name of it escapes me, I wanna watch it again.

Palpatine did nothing wrong, he was both the literary and the moral protagonist of the prequel trilogy.

>Turns a dying, corrupt, immoral Republic into a powerful galactic Empire with a hierarchy that ceased to be built upon an impotent bureaucracy
>Justifiably purges the child-brainwashing cult-like militant religious fanatics from the inner circle of the galactic government, having showed immense leniency up until they drew first blood in a (failed) coup-turned assassination attempt against a democratically elected leader in their vain effort to secure their jealous stranglehold on the politics of the Republic, and to secure their unjustified denominational hegemony on the force as a whole
>Coordinates and then destroys the powerful (((banking clans))) and corrupt (((trade federations))) that had preyed on entire planets, like his own homeworld of Naboo, with next to no resistance from the Republic that came before him
>Transforms Coruscant from a wartorn planet with a visible crime and drug epidemic into the secure heart of the Imperial galaxy
>Restores order to the galaxy/makes the galaxy great again
>Promotes a largely non-dogmatic view of the force, instead of the psychologically oppressive and aggressively closed-minded view of the Jedi
>Promotes the ideas of love and family (supporting Anakin and Padme’s right to be together, to have children) over the Jedi doctrines of total chastity and emotional repression
>Raises and acts as a father figure to a deeply troubled young Jedi for many years, only for said Jedi to be ambushed, horrifically burned, and forever maimed at the hands of a Jedi master for the apparent crime of being an apostate to the Jedi Order
>Eventually assassinated in a plot by fugitive Jedi masters, and the galaxy is once again plunged right back into the darkness and unforgiving chaos that he’d spent his life and rule keeping at bay

I like where you're going with this. The empire for the negatives that it brings had a might that the galaxy never expirences post its destruction. And the jedi order is flawed. That's one of the cool things in eu. There are real long term consequences good and bad for the empire falling. Now since disney has the license, its going to end up being a bunch of stories about how everything works out. All the ambiguities never really been in the movies really outside the prequels really. Anakin becoming who he does seems compelling in episode three. If the empire wasn't so obsessed with control they might actually be quite a bit different. Like thing about it, the empire might be a nice place to live if things weren't ruled over so tightly.

Might dosen't equal right and the fact is that the jedis and their ongoing conflict with the sith cause problems for everyday people. I mean seriously. Do you really think the average guy cleaning tables somewhere needs to get his head possibly cut off cause a sith and a jedi got into a lightsaber duel? Or some jedi gets a building blown up trying to escape a new sith weapon? If you ask me the jedi and sith both sound sort of selfish.

Star wars as films don't get much moral ambiguity. And the sith are clearly the bad guys. But lets not pretend that its not a shitty universe to live in either way. These mother fuckers with their magical powers and shit can't ever stop fighting each other, and that sure dosen't impact regular people positively.

Well, in Star Wars Legacy you kind of have that happen. The Imperial Remnants eventually unite under the Fel family, which marries into the Solo-Skywalker family and commits itself to the light-side of the force, with its own Imperial order of light-side pseudo-jedi.

I haven't had cable in my house in over 12 months now. Over the last few days I've been at my parents house for the holiday, and they still have cable. This is the first time I've watched something that wasn't netflix or youtube in over a year now.

Here are my observations:

Holy fucking shit. Is it just me, or is cable getting really, really, REALLY sketchy?

Firstly the shows: everything now is ultra-low-budget one camera reality format. Either that, or everyone is playing nothing but marathon re-runs of old shows. I was watching Dirty Jobs reruns since I guess Discovery doesn't have any new shows anymore? That show is over 10 years old by this point.

And the schedules, since when do all the shows start at weird times? Shows no longer start and end on the hour now? Seems like they now start and end at pretty much just random times. Trying to fuck with DVRs and timeshifters I guess?

And the commercials! GOD DAMN the commercials! It's like every 6 or 7 minutes at this point! And the commercials are seedy as fuck now: like it seems like it's all either "charities" or the ASPCA trying to tear-jerk you into giving donations, or people trying to trick you into buying silver coins or all kinds of other seedy shit. It's like every commercial now is the television version of those people who call my grandparents to try and trick them into spending money.

And these fucking commercials go on for fucking ever now! One single commercial for like a childrens hospital or something went on for an entire commercial break. Fuck!

Also I guess all the channels now are trying to create their own quasi-youtube standalone apps to try and save them from themselves? They were all hawking their respective apps pretty fucking hard.

Its just a matter of that tv isn't really worth sitting down and watching most of the time. I've been torrenting eveything for years and years though. It just feels better/ makes more sense to me.
