Also this, Inside Llewyn Davies.
It's probably not a movie for everyone, I can sorta get if some people would say it lacks meaning or action or whatever. But it's my personal favourite movie anyhow, really worth watching it. Great cast, great music, good questions and good times.

Yeah agreed, the drama is still there, but it isn't forced through "clever" editing and other typical American TV crap.

I especially enjoyed the ones where he goes to help out Brits who decided to start a restaurant in France or Spain.

does anyone know if the UK version has a better track record (as far as the restaurants actually surviving after the filming)? I just watched a UK one where he fixed up an Indian restaurant and the manager guy actually seemed to understand what he did wrong and commit to the retooling, unlike a bunch of the American versions where they're saying they get it, but it doesn't seem like it's really sinking in, and they usually fail sometime after the episode is filmed.
Johnny Knoxville - Fri, 24 Mar 2017 09:50:08 EST ID:AMH7RAo8 No.380696 Ignore Report Quick Reply

I have no idea what the US track record is, but i think most of the resturants are still open, not sure if they still have the same owners etc.

But if you're curious just google the episode name and im pretty sure people keep a tab on these things, give you full update on how things have gone since ramsey was there.

>First there was an opportunity, then there was a betrayal. Twenty years later, Mark Renton (Ewan McGregor) returns to the only place that he can ever call home. There waiting for him are old buddies Spud (Ewen Bremner), Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller) and Begbie (Robert Carlyle). Sorrow, loss, joy, vengeance, hatred, love, fear, regret, self-destruction and mortal danger are also all lined up and ready to welcome him.

I saw T2 Trainspotting last night, and it is amazing. I don't really want to spoil too much, but it's largely original and not really based on Porno. It's a great film if you've seen the first or not. There are a lot of callbacks, but everything you need to know from the first film is in the exposition.

Seriously, go see it.

I work as a camera operator on feature films/network tv, and I handle EPK shit when production is slow to pay the bills.

A lot of directors (and producers) will travel to show their movies to an audience before national release. They usually pick 2 or 3 cities (depending on where the movie was filmed in real life or where the movie is set to be happening, the type of audience, or a place such as festivals) and do a few screenings.

Not all directors, but a lot.

I'm looking forward to seeing this. I'm gonna try and go see it the week after next since it's playing at a theater right down the road from me. I watched the first film during an overnight shift at my previous job on Audience and it's really a remarkable film. Not expecting it to be as good as the original but should still be pretty good for what it is.

Not an adaptation but the screenplay is based on Porno, with characters and elements lifted from the novel Trainspotting.

I'm glad that Deadpool's success has given Marvel confidence again in investing R rated movies and TV-MA rated shows like Logan and Legion, both of which have been big critical hits. Then again, that's from Fox since they own the rights to the X-Men series but I would hope we see more in the MCU.

yeah man Enter the Matrix was dank as fuck. fun to play (from what I remember playing it on the gamecube, anyway) with an interesting story and cutscenes written and directed by the Wachowskis. it picks up right after the Animatrix episode Final Flight of the Osiris and continues on during the events of Reloaded, which ends up providing some context and filling in some gaps. it's worth watching the cutscenes on youtube, or even a full playthrough, if you're a fan of the series.

Surprised this movie isn't on the first 3 pages. Pretty fucking creepy, it's a horror movie, but now they're calling it a thriller. I'd say it kind of treads the line, though there are some definite horror tropes.

Really great flick showcasing the soft racism of white America, as opposed to the extreme racism that is often encountered in movies. It has a 99% on RT and had 100% when I looked yesterday. And it is that good.

Jordan Peele wrote and directed it. So it's pretty funny too.

Totally, good point. The scene right after it was creepy too where they juxtapose Lisa being all nice and reassuring (even tho she'll later betray him) with shots of the white dudes bidding on Chris.

I also thought Rod was a smart character in the sense that he was essentially the black stereotype of yelling at a screen during a horror movie like at the end when he saves Chris he's like "I told you not to go into that house" while also being the most "woke" character and right about everything the entire time.

I saw it tonight and man that was a really creepy yet awesome film. I thought the way that they addressed the racism especially the scenes at the party and just the whole stereotype of blacks being physically superior and stuff. Didn't expect it to get crazy with the hypnosis and brain swapping shit. And Rod was such a great comic relief for the film, I was dying at some of his one liners and reactions like when he was listening Rose explain what happened with Chris and then saying how much she actually liked Rod.

And the ending itself was a nice surprise even as the original ending was supposed to be Chris being arrested by police for the murder of Rose and her family, and intended the scene as a reflection of the realities of racism.

Season 2 finds Sunny (Daniel Wu) and M.K. (Aramis Knight) separated and scattered to the wind, each imprisoned in unlikely places. While M.K. struggles to control his powers, Sunny is determined to fight his way back into the Badlands to find his family or die trying. On their journey, Clipper and Colt are assisted by mysterious new allies whose motivations may be anything but pure. Meanwhile, the Widow (Emily Beecham) continues to consolidate power against the other Barons, while a dark and mysterious threat prepares to exact revenge on them all. Alliances are struck, friendships betrayed, and by season’s end, Sunny and M.K.’s lives will be forever altered with devastating consequences.

That was a hell of a way to start the season and plenty of action to go around too. That opening scene of Sunny trying to escape and that entire oil refinery battle with The Widow just slicing and dicing her way to the Baroness was fucking awesome. And of course Quinn is still alive and now taking care of Veil. Eventually, I think he'll take back control from Ryder, who judging by this episode isn't doing the best job as Baron. And nice to see Nick Frost join the cast this season.

An effective use of both is best I think. I always liked the way horror games did it, initially everything was absolutely mysterious but over time you would find documents and recordings explaining how things came to get to this point, or at least hint at how, and when done right unveiling things just made it all the more frightening. Silent Hill and System Shock were both great at that.

You ever play Alan Wake? It did that really well in my opinion. You'd find manuscripts written by the main character (Alan, a horror author) scattered throughout the levels that would foreshadow what you're about to run into as the player, only Alan has no memory of writing the story, only that it is now the reality he faces.
Also, it's split into episodic chapters that end in cliffhangers and start with a "previously on..." which frame it as this really cool horror show.

Goddamn, I need to play through that game again.

I disagree on Myers, he was a lot scarier as a boogeyman in the original Halloween. Zombie's take was better than most of the sequels especially all that magic cult bs, but nothing beats that original.
Tinto Brass - Thu, 16 Mar 2017 10:50:30 EST ID:jzRqGgBn No.380378 Ignore Report Quick Reply
also, that idea of unexplained horror being scarier comes from the fact that the less we know, the more we can project. and generally, what we can imagine is scarier than what anyone can actually come up with, because it's personal. when everything is laid out for you it's a lot harder to actually be scary.

As soon as you know the monster is the ghost of the previous home owner, as soon as you know that the murders are caused by a vampire, as soon as you know that the horror is some kind of space ant, you can formulate a strategy to fight the horror.

At that point, the horror film stops being a horror film and just becomes an action movie with a scary villain.

As long as the scary thing remains unknown, the longer the film stays scary.

Also Paul Scheer and Jason Mantzoukas guest starring reminded me of how I miss watching The League.

For Workaholics fans who haven't seen it, the guys did an episode of comedian Doug Benson's podcast Getting Doug with High where they just get high and follow his poorly executed show structure. It's very funny with them.

FEUD : Bette and Joan, the first installment of the new anthology series from creator Ryan Murphy, tells the story of the legendary rivalry between Joan Crawford (Jessica Lange) and Bette Davis (Susan Sarandon) during their collaboration on the Academy Award-nominated thriller What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?, and well after the cameras stopped rolling. The series explores how the two women endured ageism, sexism, and misogyny while struggling to hang on to success and fame in the twilight of their careers.

The series premieres tonight at 10pm EST on FX.

Finally watched the first two episodes but this has been pretty good so far especially Lange and Sarandon's portrayals of Joan and Bette. While I don't think it's on the level of American Crime Story: The People v. OJ Simpson, I think that given Murphy's history with developing this season, I do think this season and Feud, in general, has the potential to be as good as ACS. Heck, they're already developing a second season on Prince Charles and Princess Diana. Surprised no one's talking about it but I do have interest in seeing a period piece during the Golden Age of Hollywood.
