Holy shit, I'm loving this show (halfway through the first season).

Please don't spoil anything. I'm in love with Starbuck but I bet they made her a fucking secret toaster because I'm not allowed to have nice things.

Caprica was utter shit. How can you write in such a bad way with such an interesting concept? I mean living in another dimension while existing in the other is very thought provoking concept.

well it's been a while and im fucking drunk BUT someone died but her browser history basically allowed the creation of an AI that wasn't distinguishable, so the AI is living on the internet basically while her dad was developing AI/robot soldiers (proto cylons) and she eventually, at least partially, inhabits one of these robots.[/'%]

I'm sure im leaving out important details but honestly the show was never good because from the start it incorporated many of the things that pulled me out of BSG. Conceptually, the interesting things about this show have already been done better imo

The concepts top tier and the show has its moements. But its not what it could be that's for fucking sure. I made it a few episodes in and it just ever clicked for me. People have told me I should give it a retry, maybe I will. This sort of stuff really does it for me and I don't have many tv shows to watch. Chip Baskets (Zach Galifianakis) wants to follow his dream of being a French clown—however, reality keeps interfering. Saddled with financial difficulties and facing an impenetrable language barrier, he moves back home to Bakersfield with high hopes. There, he is forced to confront his past while working as a rodeo clown and competing with his siblings for his mother's approval and affection.

The season premieres at 10pm EST on FX

On episode 4 now. It's refreshing to see someone actually act affected by witnessing the death of someone else. Especially since this is a pretty new thing for Chip to witness. So many films just kind of pass over the death of friends of the main character. Good to see it being dealt with in a somewhat realistic manner.

I'm sure the police did end up finding the heroin and the drug paraphernalia but it's not like they'd be able connect Chip and the troupe to it. If they had, he probably wouldn't have gotten a heavier punishment than just 6 months probation. Been really enjoying this season so far and we're almost about halfway through it.

Last episode was pretty good and things are looking up for Chip getting a new job with an entertainment company and Christine deciding to visit Ken. I did find it funny but sad when Martha was trying to be a clown at the birthday party but failing hard at it.

I'm surprised y'all haven't been talking about the last two episodes because they were really great. This season has really made me appreciate Christine much more as a character and seeing how she's found love and dealt with loss. Louie Anderson gonna win another Emmy I think. It was also really nice to see the Basket brothers come together and Penelope helping Chip out despite what happened between them.

I've never liked Fallon but it sucks that he's being forced to make his show more political. Colbert and Meyers already dedicate everything but the interview segments to politics, now that's one less show for escape. I even agree with all the shit they say cause I'm super liberal but it's just so exhausting, i'm over it.

and I really fucking miss Ferguson's invocation of a dream state that was his Late Late Show.

Ok what the fuck /mtv? Came here to find a thread about it since it has a lot of potential. In my eyes at least.
Saw the first episode last night and maybe I was just high of my tits and in the right mood but it was pretty great. I just love when the protagonist is a ... well, bastard could be the right word. Doesn't give a shit you know.
And we know that Hardy is superb in those roles, cold and calculated.

Anyway, go watch if and come back here to discuss some shit.

I've seen plenty of pedophile apologist sjws, often with shit tons of twitter followers who will pretend it isn't a big deal, and the bbc clearly helped jimmy saville get away with abusing children. also salon is garbage.

but I still don't see how this tv show advocates any of that. that quote you mentioned just sounds like a villain character's quote, more like demonizing pedophiles than anything. then again I haven't seen the show, so maybe I just don't understand the context. but from what I gather in this thread, it just looks like it's trying to be all edgy and show off how awful the world is, rather than advocate that awfulness.

they mention it too many times and off handedly like, oh look it wasn't a big deal back then. It was in bad taste.
Black Sails did it better and from what I remember stayed away from it completely. This show's execution is a bit ham-fisted. Most notably in the underwater ghost sequences that are right down cringy at times.

But hey other than that, decent show. Tom Hardy is good as are a few of the other characters I mentioned.

Yeah, like I think I said in the other thread, porn is banned in Korea so you get pretty explicit scenes in the normal movies to try and make up for it.

It made some sense in the context of the movie, but the LAST sex scene felt pretty gratiuitious.

>European movies where the Ibiza youth/party scene from the 90s-2000s plays a prominent role

'Morvan Caller' is a 2002 movie about an autistic (not really but kinda) girl who falls into ill-gotten riches after she publishes her boyfriend's novel under her name after his suicide. It's an impressionistic, visuals-led narrative that conveys more with setting and scene than dialog as Morvan travles around Europe and experiences things she would never have expected in her former life of a grocery store clerk. It's a great movie.

At one the titular Morvan brings a friend with her to Ibiza to vacation and party. The movie shows decadent, slovenly middle class 20s-30s Europeans doing tons of drugs, going crazy in rave-esque laser show dance rooms, having easy fun sex, and lounging on the beach. Aphex Twin, Can, Broadcast and Stereotlab are some of the period music they use to marvelous effect. I have become obsessed with this period of culture and music. Can anyone, especially British users, recommend me movies that have this feel and capture the youth Ibiza/Majorca scene particularly during the 90s-2000s golden years?

Personal blog: I like to mentally LARP as an upper middle class European who lives a blissful jetset/party ocean life during the summer. I'm an introverted nerdy American who spent his 20s playing PC games but now, in my early 30s, have refound a love of fitness and the outdoors, pools, oceans, etc during summer time. Lately I've been listening to Ministry of Sound house mixes and other euro electro acts (like Air France) that capture the feeling of that time and place. The sounds and styles remind me of that time of my life which was joyous but I missed out on the summer beach experiences. features many great and some obscure electronic and alt bands of the late 90s-early 00's. This music brings out the aesthetic and vibe of being totally fucking relaxed and living a paradisical life.

>Crashing is an American television comedy series created by and starring Pete Holmes. The pilot episode was written by Holmes and directed by Judd Apatow. The show revolves around a young comedian whose wife leaves him for an art teacher named Lief.
>Crashing airs Sundays on HBO at 10:30pm PST

Anyone catch this? I enjoyed the first two episodes. Basically about Pete Holmes's life on the road as a comedian, while he crashes at other comedians places.

Looking forward to future episodes, the show seems to have a lot of potential.

So I kinda started this whole thing with the last thread. Main complaint is the action I've seen from previews but I'd be down if the story is solid. Apparently said story is solid, a sort of Batman Returns for Wolverine. While it still isn't my dream come true for action, I've seen some more recent stuff that looks a bit more brutal. Apparently they thrown the fucked up continuity out the window, which is a good/ bold move IMO. Gonna see this now, like I said, it's doing better than I thought it would.
