Which actors would make the most convincing family OR a character in their youth and adulthood?
To start with, Kevin McKidd (Tommy from Trainspotting) would make a great father or future version of George MacKay.

Tell us about the podcast ep you just listened to. Supply a link if you can.

I just listened to the World in Words. This show's been getting better, but this one may have been my favorite so far. The title suggested it was mostly going to be about some Netflix show, but it was more about how international film had to adjust once the silent-film era ended. It was all about different things that were tried, and Charlie Chaplin's initial resistance.

Same, I've looked into getting into checking out NoAgenda but politics is such vitriolic bullshit lately that I stay away whenever I can. I know we've had numerous threads like this in the past so bear with me.

Just recently caught the first episode of CNN's The History of Comedy and it made me want to check out some of the classic stand-up comedians and specials.
In your opinion, what are the greatest stand-up comedy specials of all time? Total classic status. Alternately, what are some great stand-up comedians that are worth checking out all or most of their output?

I've seen all of George Carlin's specials.

Cartoon Network has announced that they will bring in a new executive producer, citing numerous delays during the production of Rick and Morty Season 3. Dan Harmon stated that he understands why the decision was made, but that he fears that new direction might hurt the quality of the series. Justin Roiland was unavailable for comment.

The new executive producer who will hopefully see Season 3 released on a more timely schedule is none other than Valve's Gabe Newell.

I'm sorry, I couldn't resist. Anyhow, since it is believed that the new season of Rick and Morty will be starting at some point in the not-too-distant future (geologically speaking, of course) I figured we could have a Rick and Morty thread.

Do you think this season will follow the somewhat-self-contained format of the earlier seasons or do you think it will be more serialized? Anything you're looking forward to seeing or any mysteries you want to see resolved?

Man, I was so happy when that old fogey cunt David Letterman got the heave-ho and Colbert replaced him. But honestly, I did not have faith that Colbert could hold his own among the other late night hosts. I've always followed Late Night wars and thought Colbert would be another sad casualty like Conan's Tonight Show. And now, with Trump as President, Colbert has made a topical resurgence and become the Late Night leader overnight. Let's celebrate Colbert's return to form after a trying opening year.
http://www.esquire.com/entertainment/tv/news/a53146/stephen-colbert-leading-late-night-ratings/

Also, Late Night general. Kimmel rules, Fallow blows, John Oliver is okay but I'm not always in the mood for him. SNL still sucks and is only making a comeback because people hate Trump so much.

Has SNL or Colbert convinced one person to start hating Trump, or did their audiences already hate him in the first place? I'm not defending Trump, I dislike the fellow, but these political shows seem like they are just preaching to the converted rather than actually making a difference and raising political awareness.

I like Oliver but the first couple of episodes this season have been disappointing. He's spent over 40 minutes now just restating what most people (especially his audience) already know about Trump. Like, I guess he's hoping his clips go viral and reach those not in his current audience to educate them, but as he joked about in the premiere, anyone that doesn't already like his show at this point think of it as "Last stallion Tonight hosted by The English Faggot" and will easily dismiss anything he says about Trump.

I hope these past two weeks have allowed him to get all the Trump shit out of his system so the show can go back to its bread & butter and shine light on the topics you don't hear or read about unless you make an otherwise concerted effort to find them.

You have if you wouldn't like to hook up the cables every time, like to use your laptop somewhere else while the TV is running, actually use your laptop outside your home and like to keep it in a backpack, etc...

The one thing against it is that smart TVs are still quite proprietary.

if you're watching tv do you really need to be using your laptop in a separate room? you can set it up like dual monitors too, so you can do regular stuff on the laptop while the tv is displaying whatever you want. I guess i never minded the cables since it's just the one cable. If you take your laptop around in a backpack you should be used to moving it around too.

The Christmas Special is kind of like the soft premiere for the new series so I guess a new thread is in order since the old one appears to be gone now.

Anyone watch the Christmas Special? I thought it was incredibly dumb but to its credit it embraced its dumb-ness to decent comedic effect. I'm not a fan of the hairless humpty dumpty guy, though. Not really jazzed about him being brought back. The villains of the episode seemed pretty weak and stupid, too. More so than usual Christmas Special villains. My favorite part was when The Doctor was talking to the lady and said "There are some situations that are just too stupid to be allowed to continue", made me laugh out loud. After that I embraced the stupidity of the episode and was able to enjoy it proper.

Sucks we have to wait another 4 months for the premiere, but the preview at the end of tonight's episode was nice. I can't shake how the new companion looks like Dr. Frank-N-Furter, but I'm hoping she grows on me and turns out to be a good companion.

You guys interested? Season 6 drops in 3 days and I still have no idea what the hell its gonna be about. Trailers are all over the place.

>Details about the season's plot and cast have been kept secret, an approach to publicity unusual for the series. What is known about the cycle's theme is that it will revolve around children, and in the words of co-creator Ryan Murphy will be "more rogue" and "dark", in contrast to the previous season, Hotel.

Idk whats up. Im a fan of previous seasons though so Ima give it a whirl. I just hate how every season starts to build up this huge momentum with a bunch of plots and then they rush it to tie all loose ends together in the last episode or two.

TNT = Turner Network Television, lol. It is network, tho I will admit that the term "network" is misused.

Typically when people say network teleivions, they're referring to the channels that you get with a basic cable subscription. These channels rely on ad revenue to make money, and because they rely on ads, they play by a very strict set of rules of what can and can not be done on teleivions — basically, self-centered.

Non-networks networks (see the stupidity of the term?) are the channels you gotta pay extra for, and thus they don't have commercials and they get away with more. HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, Starz, *Turner* Classic Movies, etc.

So yeah, TftC is on TNT, meaning there is going to be commercials, there is going to be censoring of nudity and words and gore deemed too "extreme". TftC should've just stayed with HBO.

Won't happen.

The reason why TNT can produce new episodes of TftC, which was historically an HBO show, is because they're both owned by Time Warner Cable.

Netflix would have to buy the rights from Time Warner, and let's face it, why would TW sell the rights? Netflix is their biggest competitor. They'd sooner give it to Hulu (which is owned by Time Warner).

The only reason TNT is getting TftC is because the executives want to revive the channel. TNT has nothing going for it, all its shows suck, and it's market appeal thus far has only been Weekend movies.

It's such a waste of a good IP.

When I talk about network television, I mean Fox/ABC/NBC/CBS/CW when I mean network television. TNT is on cable and not restricted by what content they air but they still have to placate advertisers and the network so they self-restrict themselves given its large viewer base though networks like AMC (though they could let TWD do way more) and FX aren't as restrictive.

>>379129
Time Warner Cable got spun off and bought out by Charter and is now Spectrum so it's just Time Warner owns HBO, Cinemax and the Turner networks. I guess it makes sense to revive it on TNT instead of HBO since TNT doesn't have any standout shows on its network and more people can watch it. It doesn't help that M. Night is involved either.

You can go through this list and find which one sounds closest. It's a instrumental so it isn't easy to pinpoint as they rarely used the full samples in the show.

I even went through a 500file discography and the one fucking song everybody comments on is not included anywhere, and r named, or even fucking acknowledged. Anyone who watches the show at all would here that song prelude to some kind of mystery, at least once per show, and the fucks didnt decide to make it known what this one masterfully creepy tune is called. What the fuck.

so thats it then?
nobody on the fucking planet knows the name of that song?
i wouldnt be surprised if they made specifically that 1 fucking song unavailable only to be heard on the show because its that catchy and mysterious people would go back to watch if only to have that creepy tune again, fuckn bullshit, tbh.

If it's bothering you this much, get google translate, switch to Japanese, and plead with one of the show creators to give you the info.
