Just into the start of season four of a very long Stargate SG-1 binge. That show has 200 episodes and two spin offs. Crazy.

3 movies, 4 series, and one set of webisodes actually. Stargate, SG-1, SG-1 Ark of Truth, SG-1 Continuum, Atlantis, Universe, and Infinity plus Kino webisodes(SGU).

I would recommend watching Atlantis and SG-1 side by side in chronological order. There is also Stargate: Origins which is in development right now.

Over the last year I watched all the SG series and it was all very fun. Atlantis may be my favorite. And even though Universe Was l was extremely derivative of Battlestar Galactica, it was very fun and had its own identity.

Oh shit accidentally IMDB spoilered myself.

Meanwhile Knightfall is so shitty that I don't even think it can maintain its camp appeal to me. It's like they put it on after just to show that Vikings is still good.

I want to like Knightfall the way I like Legend of the Seeker and Shanarra Chronicles, it's wonderful fantasy schlock. It turns out when you make it pseudo-historical-fantasy I fucking hate that garbage.

And get your conspicuous galvanized chainmail the fuck out of my face.

I really liked David Hewlett's movie "A Dog's Breakfast." It's a very cute morbid Canadian farce.

Agents have been pimping clients out to producers/directors/hollywood 'eilite' and others forever. Now it's coming to light (but the talent agency are not the major focus, yet), so if I had the money and the know-how it would be a good time to start a talent agency in Hollywood. Make the tagline 'We won't treat you like a hooker, unless it's for a role!'.

I'm convinced that Doc Hammer just doesn't enjoy doing Venture Bros anymore. I think he was all in when he started but after a while he realizes how much work it is he'd rather be living his life and doing other shit. And maybe his head just isn't in the same place it was when they started.
Can't say I blame him for it though. He's a very multi-faceted person.

This thread is a collection of good movies to watch any day of the year! I will post one film every 24 hours or so.

Movie of the Day:
>Hausu (1977)
A Japanese horror comedy film directed and produced by Nobuhiko Obayashi. It stars mostly amateur actors. The film follows a schoolgirl traveling with her six classmates to her ailing aunt's country home, where they come face to face with supernatural events as the girls are, one by one, devoured by the home.

It's no secret that hollywood is out of ideas for movies, what are some great stories from literature that you think should be adapted to the screen?

  1. Hyperion - Dan Simmons: This book has everything; FTL travel, time travel, malicious AI, Aliens and compelling characters. Due to the fractured story telling in the first book and the protracted narrative, this would probably have to be done as a tv series. If successful, the sequels are just as compelling.

2. Forever War - Joe Haldeman: I truly can't believe that this one hasn't been made into some kind of film adaptation already. Of all the stories on this list, I feel like this one needs the least amount of work story wise to translate to the screen. The story is tight enough story that it could easily be written into a feature film.

3. Snow Crash/Seven Eves/Cryptonomicon - Neal Stephenson: Pretty much anything by Neal Stephenson deserves an adaptation, but these 3 in particular have always struck me as the most cinematic in his oeuvre. Snow Crash is basically just a better version of the movie Ready Player One, that's coming out later this year. The premise for Seven Eves is that the moon blows up for no reason, it got a luke warm reception, but it's one of my very favorite books and I believe it would translate well to the big screen. Cryptonomicon follows 2 narratives one begginning in WWII and one in the modern world, following lost german submarines, crazy marines and crazier treasure hunters, with a sprinkle of geopolitics and intrigue. Any of them would make for an excellent blockbuster.

4. The Stars are Legion -Kameron Hurley: This 2017 book is enigmatic, bold and really sticky, for real, I felt like I needed to take a shower after I read this book... in a good way. The story chronicles the lives of a female-only, alien race living on multi-layered, hostile, living planets. The set-pieces in this book alone would be amazing to see translated onto the screen.

5. Wild Cards series - J.R.R Martin: OG martin fans know about the amazing anthology series he edited. In an alternate history where an alien ship crash lands on earth shortly after WWII, it releases a virus that causes people all over the world to change. Some b…

Ok so this happened in late 2017, there was a black sitcom family show on cable TV and I never figured out the name of the show but here is the catch..as I entered the room where the show was playing, this African family was all lined up side by side across the screen (maybe not the whole family, not sure) and there was a female on the very right edge of the screen who out of no where stood there-head tilted back as if looking at the sky BUT her mouth was agar in a very disturbing way. Trust me it did not look human......she stood there for maybe less than 3 or 4 seconds and it was NOT scripted, it was one of those things you don't notice unless you are trying to see the bigger picture of what you are looking at and by that I mean every single thing else happening in that time span of 3 or 4 seconds was entirely normal and genuine but this very disturbing image of this female with her mouth open as far as possible made it look like she could eat a baseball or something a bit bigger. I have been searching but have no idea how to find this specific episode or even the name of the show or actors. I'm telling you this stuff is real and right infront of you, please don't judge me, just help me find an answer or proof or something....please guys I will be checking in here on /mtv everyday in hopes that someone can explain this

After a surprisingly good season earlier this year, American Dad! makes its return as Stan Smith leads his all-American family. Everyday life is taken to the limit as Stan applies the same drastic measures used in his job at the CIA to his home life. Driven by machismo and the American dream, he often is blind to how horribly he fails at his attempts.

The season premieres tonight at 8:30pm EST on TBS

Man, I rewatchd Naughty Stewardesses last night (I'm in season 9 of a rewatch if that wasnt apparent) and it was painfully unfunny. Maybe I just liked Independant Movie because I was getting so sick of the kinds of films it parodied when it first came out. At the time, /mtv/ had me on a kick of watching all the new indie shit, all those crappy films that have screeners leak at Christams and critics love them but nobody ever sees them because they are boring as all hell) and I wasn't sure why I wasn't getting it, and the AD ep made me realize I don't want to get it.

I think that's why I didn't like it. too deadpan. I mean it works, but it's too close to what it's making fun of. I guess on a technical level it was a good episode I just couldn't enjoy it.

I thought this Christmas special was okay especially with Roger learning how to be Jewish and Snot putting up with his shit and resurrecting Santa. Could have been better though. Guess we'll see how the rest of the season goes next month.

rewatched literally last night (I'm the one who first called it a classic and started this debate). The other guy is right that it had some bad parts. The first half of the episode was very weak, had a big subplot with Stan and Roger that was painfully unfunny. The second half where they get into the meat of the road trip tho is still gold.
