Dope, season 1 was underrated as hell. One of my favorite Netflix originals, it's fucking bananas. I honestly didn't see it getting picked up for a second season considering how weird it was.

I never even thought of the DnD assumptions, that's a good call... Unless the newer stuff changed the lore of the Mindflayer, they actually fucked up some details but I may be getting to nerdy, even for this board.

I forgot all about the Barb stuff in my post. It's fucking terrible, like really bad. You ever finish a horror movie and think, "wow, I wonder how people are going to deal with the emotional trauma of loosing a their friends". I haven't because it would be boring as fuck to watch, thank for proving my point "Stranger Things". That's a big problem with this season IMO is a good portion of it felt like it was dealing with the aftermath of season 1 when it should have just got moving. I get the reasoning behind it but the #justiceforbarb wasn't much justice. It's like blaming the Camp Crystal lake murders on the kids that teased Jason Voorhees. They might think they made some sort of change but that time could have been better used dealing with the ACTUAL problem at hand. #Fuckbarb

This season was a hot mess in comparison to the first, tightly scripted, well paced season.

Stranger Things 2 has no proper antagonist, the new characters are near pointless, Hopper has gone full retard between seasons, the first half of the season very little happens apart from rehashing stuff from the first season.

Instead of feeling like pitch perfect nostalgia (though a little derivative) like the first season, this season seems to be constructed almost entirely from tired tropes. A lot of plotlines don't really go anywhere or rejoin the A-story in a way that makes them almost pointless.

There were a handful of pretty good moments, like Steve and Dustin becoming friends and the whole scrapyard scene but it was mainly deeply predictable.

At this point I wish the series had gone the way of Freaks and Geeks or Firefly, with just one awesome season. Maybe this is a sophomore slump, but it feels like the script was written in about 1/4 the time of the first script and I don't trust them to get it back on the rails.

I mostly enjoyed my time watching it, but it's lost the magic. I hope season 3 has a fresh cast - not because I don't love the current cast, but because the duffel brothers don't seem to know what to do with their characters. I would miss Nancy though

I'm not doubting Snoop as I'm sure its a great paycheck but looks like contrived network 'entertainment' like "hehe 420" like maybe that'll help normalize weed in public mainstream even further but this is so much not for me that it feels like double entendre of being absolute junkfood level of entertainment with no substance only for it to be intentional because Snoop is at the helm.

So what's the deal with this show. I hear it's actually a lot of fun. Is it campy and self aware, I thought at first it was supposed be some straight shooting modern Archie remake. I hear the kids do adderall, kill people and fuck or something?

and ya, I know Archie has always been a little weird but it's adaptations never seem to remember that. Little Orphan Annie fought fucking Nazi's ... I'm yet to see that in an adaptation.

That one's pretty sexy.
Not what I meant by "the page" though. I was referring to times in street-level comics where the titular superhero dwells on the problems that Avengers let slip through the cracks. Happened in Thunderstrike, happened in Black Panther Man Without Fear, I'm presuming it must have happened in Spider-man & Daredevil multiple times. It's why the Netflix thing works IMO, street level heroes are already largely divorced from Avengers business in the comics & have their own tone to boot. Hell Spidey & Daredevil never getting & not even wanting to be Avengers respectively was a running joke for decades.

Not too big of a fan of the Barbara, Tabitha and Selena subplot, but that's the good thing about Gotham, there's always a few different stories going on and they're generally good.

Evil partyboy Bruce storyline is pretty cool, and Zsaz's replacement because he's "off visiting his Grandma this week" fit in so well with the Gotham setting, too bad he's dead now, not that it's stopped anyone before.

We didn't even see the Riddler/Grundy/Lee this week, with the Pyg being pretty good this week, as well as Gordon v corruption as well.

Jim Gordon is probably my favourite 'vanilla' good guy on TV this year.

This has to be the only time Zsasz has been campy of lovable, it's something I would have never imagined. The Pig is great, I was a bit disappointed with Scarecrow so it's good were getting another "spooky" villain this season. Headhunter is a character that could only work on this show. The dude sounds like when Jordan Peele try's to sound gangster in sketches. I hope it's not the last we see of him TBH

The new Twin Peaks book is out, I read it so you don't have to. There were two things of note I figured I would post here since they seemed to clarify some of the weird shot from the new episodes. First off, the little girl from the mushroom flashback who had a monster go down her throat after that radio broadcast THIS IS THE WATER AND THIS IS THE WELL.. anyways, that girl was Laura Palmer's mother.

Ok, time for where shit gets really weird. Apparently, Cooper really did save Laura. He re-wrote time and now everyone except for the FBI characters in season 3 has new memories of Laura just going missing one day, no longer recalling her dead body being found and the subsequent confession from her father. Leland Palmer is now considered dead of suicide from grief over not knowing what happened to his daughter. So as for Cooper's question of "what year is this?" i suspect the answer is "whatever year in which someone pays Lynch enough money to make moar".

Ok, was talking to some people at work about movies and got to the subject of horror movies. While talking the question was brought up about.... space. For the last few minutes of the break, we were racking our brains trying to think of horror movies set in space. Could only come up with 4. Event Horizon, Pandorum (borderline between horror and action), Apollo 18 and Alien.

So, my question is.... what other horror movies are set in space? Space meaning not on earth.

E6 was good although I sort of hoped he'd eat her at the end of the last scene 5 was the best of the series by far.

LOOOL that would have been hilarious, I loved the ep but that would have been a great Black Mirror-y twist. ANyways, just finished watching it, I'm actively butthurt over the 'no new eps til 2018' thing they added to the ending

>no new eps til 2018

yeah typical brittish show though, running for 6 episodes.

It was an alright episode i mean you could see that he was a rexorian a mile away as soon as he came back, i was kind of hoping that all the people on the planet were actual humans though and he got stranded there, but oh well, i kind of liked what they did

Episode 5 was by far the best episode. its actually probably the best episode of any tv show ive seen all year

I would like some recommendations for spooky films to watch in the upcoming month.
I like style-over-substance things like Antichrist and Neon Demon, but I also like slower-paced ones like House of the Devil and Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Would you know of anything like that?

The Lovecraft tale tis based on fucked me up for life, but the movie was just a zany Hellraiser-ripoff fun romp. In the original story, the main character discovers that all wind is actually just swarms of invisible jellyfish slobbering their tentacles on you as they pass, this concept still gets to me on windy days. Movie skipped that aspect, if memory serves.

I remember watching this on TNT's Monstervision when I was a little kid. Despite being censored, that movie is still some very fucked-up shit, One of these days I'll watch it as an adult, but I still vividly remember so much of that crazy movie.

Fun fact, they're not jellyfish, they're jellyish without a clear form. Even more terrifying imo.

Just got home from seeing Jigsaw. I'm a huge Saw fan but this one was very meh. If you've seen the old films, you'll probably figure out the twists and be able to spot who the killer is out of the motley crew of new characters.

Saw power rankings: 1>4>6>2>7>3>8>5
that places Jigsaw as the 2nd worst one yet. Dag. ALso, I can handle the plot being predictable as long as the deaths and violence is good. The traps were dumb and had no thought put into them. I gauranfuckingtee I could have written a better Saw script than this.
