I thought it was good. I was pleasantly surprised about the outcome of the segment with that couple proposing and having the other couple take the picture of the proposal to make for a cake. Sucks that Steve RV broke down. I bet The Guy really wanted to go on a road trip especially with Beth going back to Australia.

King was basically a Democratic Socialist. I don't think you can really label him a "Marxist" in any way.

I can tell you one thing, if KING weren't murdered, he damn sure would be remembered drastically differently. This caricaturuzation of him as the civil rights Jesus sure as shit wouldn't have happened. All these right wing shitlords who always go on about how "MLK" wouldn't have protested this way! He'd have bowed his head, hat in hand, and politely asked the establishment if the police could please stop murdering unarmed minorities without due cause, and politely said "Okay, thank you. Sorry to bother you, sir." when his request was declined." would be singing a different tune about this guy who they've retroactively turned into this ridiculous Uncle Tom house n***we. I bet you there would be more than a couple Trump tweets denouncing him, he'd be labeled an outright Stalinist Commie, and the Hillary Clinton types would distance themselves from him like they do with Harry Belafonte.

I have no idea why some random youtubers uploaded the Punisher Trailer before netflix official channel.

But who else is hyped for Marvels Punisher on Netflix?

Do you think they'll keep the violence?

Do you think they will use parts of the Punisher-VG-OST?

Anyone remembers the funeral-scene in the Punisher Level, when you popped out the coffin and mowed down the Mafia-Family?

Honestly, they were probably hamstrung by the fact that Netflix demands their Marvel content all be crammed into the Dare Devil/Iron Fist/Luke Cage/Jessica Jones-iverse. Doesn't exactly leave you with a lot of options compared to a comic where a fuck ton of shit happened that wouldn't exactly fit into the PG-13-iverse they created.

I remember several years ago Rick Astley was a surprise guest on one of the floats during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and was truly astonished how the internet's sarcastic linking to his videos resurrected his dead career. Just the other day I heard him on a local radio station (with millions of listeners) saying something like "This is Rick Astley, on XX.X station." and Never Gonna Give You Up started playing. It's like old people who don't quite understand internet sarcasm thought he really was a big sensation and contacted him for deals, or something. Anyway, let this be a Rick Astley general thread. Anyone got any little-known facts about him?

i heard him on I think 'Opie and Jim' show? Or was it 'Jim and Sam'?

here i googled it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4rAl86w08s not gonna watch it though

I heard it a while back, it was interesting hearing him discuss the culture change from the 80s when he made it VS the modern era. Something he said about the eggshell-walking dance and looming threats that are involved in modern dating, and how he would be terrified to even make a move if he were a young lad in today's environemnt, stuck with me. he came off really 'down to earth' and more insightful than you'd expect.

My latest spots and rccs for u!

Fright Night (1985)
Sw it first time yesterday, very fookin nice. Love the 80's (when hollywood peaked imo) and THOSE practical effects! Very cool movie. And Halloween is creeping up now soon so get started already with this one!

Scarecrow (1973)
Was in the mood for some 70's pacino since I'd only seen Dogday, Godfather and Serpico from that decade, so fired up imdb and found this plus the next recc. Comfy kino, Hackman does a very gud job and it was cool to see Pacino being more dynamic, playful and silly that I'd ever seen before.

The Panic in Needle Park (1971)
More 70's Pacino, and this is now among the top heroin films I've seen. Well acted, always nice to see 70's New York, and not too depressing. Made me both hate and understand junkies more.

Really well done interview style documentaries wanted by Mickey Smith - Wed, 18 Oct 2017 17:38:54 EST ID:cpQu1mMj No.389813 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

So, I want to watch some documentaries that feature interviews with people to see how they are done. These are the kind of ones where a lot of it is simply the person sitting in a chair, talking to the camera. They don't need to be feature length or anything. But, the kind where they interview a person. Ideally the kind where the interviewer isn't seen on camera or heard much, if at all. I am drawing a blank myself, although I have seen it done many times.

Anyone have some recommendations? I want to study how they are made.

You must get all the pussy.

Anywho....yeah the theaters are going luxury. Oddly enough, small theaters seem to be making a comeback. In my area two small theaters have opened. They have big comfy seats, but only seat like 30 people at the most. Some of the theaters are literally a dozen seats. Although that is usually for the one screen showing the arty movie. It seems to work though. You buy tickets online.
Neither of the new ones have booze in my area, but our state liquor laws are fucky and make shit hard.
The AMC near me has a full bar now, and luxury seats that recline, etc. Seems to be the way forward. Not sure I'd order a cocktail from a place that serves $4.00 cokes though. Be paying Manhattan prices for your ummm... Manhattan.

This is basically what I do because I hate going to the movies. I've got a huge media server hooked up to all my TVs, big TV in the living room with surround sound, comfy couch, loveseat, and 2 nice, big recliners with coffee tables/end tables for drinks/food/drugs and a place in the corner for my pets. Next time I get some time off work I'm going to change up the lighting in there a bit I think but other than that I'm very happy with it. I'd much rather spend a night watching movies and stuff there than go to the theater.

I like being able to pause the movie if I want to take a piss, smoke weed, do drugs, drink, not have to worry about any of the other guests or going out, have good food, not have to plan my day around movie times, etc. Its just much more enjoyable for me at home. I may have to wait a couple months for a high quality release of a new movie to come out but I don't mind that and I've got plenty to watch in the meantime.

There are a few exceptions where I'll really want to see something in theaters. Usually its one of the shorter documentary films at an Imax because they usually pretty great; especially the space and underwater ones.

Strangely enough I don't mind going to see plays. I guess that's probably because you can't really see those at home, the experience is much more important there, and you do have intermission which I enjoy.

call me a pleb but i have no idea what you're talking about. when they do the dolby surround sound demo and play deep bass notes through all the speakers all around me i get pumped like "fuck yeah thats some REAL surround sound". please explain what it is lacking? do you have some multimillion dollar audio setup at home? in fact i would say the only reason i would even go to a movie theater these days is for the full sound effect. the "big screen" aint shit when it's so far away, plus you have to deal with The Public...

I don't like going to the theater. I had to switch theaters because the black youth of today ruined several movies in a row for me. But I have surround sound and 4k HDR tv at home so I just wait now, which kind of sucks but whatever.

They were talking about charging $100 to let you watch new in theater movies from your cable provider but I don't think much has come of it. But if that comes true, and if it coincides with 4k HDR cable then theaters might as well lock their doors because it's over. I will get at least 3 other ppl to come over and watch the new blockbuster for a little $ each.

>That's even worse because you just necessarily limited your writing
If it's a movie, movies are already limited. The best Babylon 5 movie is a prequel.

Any good story has a bunch of world building that needs to exist somewhere, at least in the writer's head that you never see and maybe gets a few passing mentions. You can absolutely flesh some of that out into a movie.
If you're making a prequel series without a pre-determined endpoint, you're probably not fleshing out many pre-existing ideas, but trying to write original content within the rules of prior work. A movie or a miniseries has a fixed endpoint though.

Plex is a fork of Kodi, so they're not that different if you're just using the desktop apps. The Plex Media Player/openPHT PC apps are basically just Kodi with clean, simple skins. Plex is usually better when you need server functionality to stream to multiple users using a variety of devices from different locations. I usually use Kodi as the local front end on my HTPCs and Raspberry Pis so I have maximum control over AV quality and media sources, and run a Plex server in the background to serve content on tablets, phones, consoles, or any other device where I need shit to just play.

They both have their strengths and weaknesses, and it really depends on what you need to do. Lately development of Kodi has been pretty fucked thanks to scammers selling fully loaded pirate Kodi boxes on eBay, and the morons who buy them inundating the developers with bullshit when they inevitably stop working. On the other hand, the Plex devs have been so busy shitting out apps for every device under the sun, that they barely have the time to keep any of them if working order. They're both buggy messes frankly, but at least when I get fed up with one I can usually fall back on the other if necessary.

A lot of people really love Plex. I tried it but didn't like it. I much prefer Emby+Kodi but whatever works best for them I guess. They all do similar things after that its mostly just personal preference.

I don't use many of the add ons though I just use it to manage the videos on my media server and have it hooked up via rasp pi 3 on the TVs in my house.

I hear plex is good for music and I think it handles ebooks as well but I have separate programs for ebooks, comics, and music plus I don't have a smartphone or stream outside my home which I think Plex does better.

As far as total number of users I think Plex beats all of the others by a decent margin. It just doesn't work as well for me.

A buddy of mine gave me the info for his plex server. It's pretty cool if you want to put a shitload of pirated movies and tv shows in one place for easy use across devices. I use it and Kodi but really just use plex when I don't wanna deal with the hastle of finding a good stream source or if I want to watch something in 4k.
But Kodi is my every day app. I use Kodi mostly to just re-watch old shows that I've seen a hundred times. With these shows it doesn't matter that much if I can only get 720p links or even 480p because they're from the 80's and 90's.
For that, it's perfect (minus the occasional issues that you have to deal with regarding Kodi's software and all the add ons and dependencies.)
