idk he was pretty good in the early 80s. you say that there's a different era after the 90s and 00s though, I honestly thought that was what his last two albums would be like and avoided them. Now I"m curious. I stopped listening to him in the 00s. guess that happens sometimes though. devo fucking sucked on every album after oh no its devo until they disbanded but then decades later they come back and something for everybody comes out and it's the best they've ever done. Makes me wonder how many musicians got good again that I missed out on.

Bowie's 90s and 00s ventures are kinda hit and miss, but Heathen definitely stands out. And yeah, Blackstar is an instant masterpiece because he died two days after its release and given that context, the album is astounding. Here was a star who devoted his life to his art, so much so that he got lost in it for periods, but he knew he was dying and turned his death into an artistic stunt. And timed it so perfectly. "Blackstar" is an amazing achievement and a perfect period to the alien's career.

In 1978 with disco reigning supreme, a new music genre is burgeoning, with young lovers Zeke (Justice Smith) and Mylene (Herizen F. Guardiola) caught up in the looming cultural revolution. Amidst the backdrop of a bankrupt New York City, ruthless gangsters and money-hungry record label bosses, they discover it’s only their creativity and love that will carry them through – and that they’ll sacrifice everything for their music, and each other.

Watch part 2 of The Get Down now on Netflix.

By the end, it was just getting ridiculous. The first part had a kind of quasi-mythical feel to it, but this time Baz went full Baz, and the story became less of a mythical tribute to the early days of hip hop, and more of a cartoon fantasy using hip hop as a prop. Like I said, it was like bad fanfiction; the big scene in the final episode where they team up with all the legends of early hip hop against Cadillac was just cheesy as fuck, I couldn't take it seriously.

I still enjoyed it, but near the end I was getting sceptical about where the show was going, and once the show fell apart the last episode was just a chore to get through.

Those animated scenes were total dogshit too, they should've just left them out entirely.

>the big scene in the final episode where they team up with all the legends of early hip hop

That kinda happened, in their final throes of rebellion against ye olde recorded medium those big parties kinda happened.

Then less than a couple years later they started putting out records. Everything was fine, and Planet Rock is still the best hip hop album on earth.

Oh yeah, that was the other thing that bugged me. Like, the show makes a big scene about how stopping this whole record thing was a big deal, then tells you that it happened anyway and everything was fine. The fuck.

Part 2 was like an inversion of Part 1, instead of starting out tedious and getting great near the end it went the other way round this time. Man, I knew we were in trouble the moment the cabaret dude showed up.

>cabaret dude

yeah... like someone else said, Baz ended up going full Baz. The whole Rubycon scene... should have been handled much better. I liked it in the first part where Diz went to where-ever-thefuck-it-was (I don't remember, but you know what I mean, Baz being Baz again) because that had legit development for his character and was a nice showcase of an even more "underground" aspect of that era. But the whole Rubycon thing... Not in this series, Baz. You fucked it.

I agree that the american dragon tattoo is better. Finchers signature style fits so well with it and I liked Rooney a lot more as Lizbeth than Noomi, Noomi did a good job but Rooney brought her A game like she usually does, I love her. Finchers just feels all around more polished
The opening credits are amazing too.
Its a shame were never going to get fincher sequels, Rooney was totally up to do more movies too. The guy who did Don't Breathe is doing the next one and they're not even doing a direct sequel. They're skipping over two books right to the fourth, which wasn't even written by Steig Larson, with a new actress playing Lizbeth

Finished the season. Ricky at the golf course was some funny ass shit. Also at least the trio didnt get arrested at season's end though the ending itself could have been better. I'm guessing Netflix will renew it if Robb, JP and Mike continue with the show.

Also for those unfamiliar with Nathan MacKinnon, he's the Colorado Avalanche's team captain and star player thst won the Calder Memorial Trophy for Rookie of the Year in 2014.

looool the golf course. As for the Star Wars parody and the Ricky/Lahey drama, it seems like they saw how the internet hated the idea of Lahey being Rickys dad and changed the plot to appease fans by undoing it.

I mean the Star Wars parody was hilarious and Lahey being Ricky's dad was an interesting twist as well as a messed up way for Lahey to try and manipulate Ricky. I didn't mind it given how it turned out but if Ray isn't Ricky's real father, I wonder if they'll address that?

>>381463
I didn't mind Lahey behind Ricky's dad, I minded how Lahey THINKING he was Ricky's dad was supposed to be the reason for him tormenting the Boys all those years, and they didn't undo that. I have not been appeased.

Lost a legend today.

>One night, on learning that some members of his audience were German, he said, “Forty million Jews in this country, and I got four Nazis sitting here in front waiting for the rally to start.”
>He said that America needed Italians “to keep the cops busy” and blacks “so we can have cotton in the drugstore,”
>“Asians are nice people, but they burn a lot of shirts.”
>He might ask a man in the audience, “Is that your wife?” and, when the man answered yes, respond: “Oh, well. Keep your chin up.”

I've had a problem for a long time. Its that I'm addicted to fraiser. This shits the most high quality thing that ever was put on gods green earth. I've learned to base my life around it.

I get shivers down my spine when I hear the theme. My heart races, my eyes water with tears of happiness when I hear kelsey grammer speak. Its just got that perfect pitch. You can tell he has a hard leaving the charcter he gave himself his entire life over.

I not only an only orgasm to frasier, I can only eat to it. I can only sleep to it. When people turn around and ask me how I'll be spending the night I always answer
>follow the way of frasier like me
There's nothing better. When you cum to the sweet conversations that show has? Your life will be fucking changed. You won't be able to stop. I'm addicted to fraiser and its the the thing that keeps me going.

Follow it. You'll have the best orgasms of your life. Food will taste better, everything you ever wanted will come true. Now if you excuse me? There are hearts to break, entries on the frasier wiki that need more detail and of course, frasier episodes that need rewatching.

But the show isn't really my cup of tea but I can spend a few hours a year on something mildly entertaining.

him fighting and winning a fight against a trained elite killer was my dealbreaker( ok and many other things) on this being a recommendation if someone asks for a good detective stuff.

Lol somebody didn't lose interest the new Doctor Who fast enough.

At least the second episode is on par with the previous series.

The thing is, Sherlock became serialized in the novels as well, and it comes with the characters already being pretty developed and just getting on with it.

This Sherlock plateau isn't so much the fault of the series as it is inherent in the source material.

i don't remember a goddamn thing about what happened in Ep. 1. Ep. 2 is the shit though.

Part 1

So last night after many severe blows and bowls to the dome I decided to watch a good maritime movie. So I pick "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou" some Bill Murray thing about him and the ocean. Basically I wanted to know about this so called "life Aquatic" because it sounds like a rip off of my "tan aquatic" show that I ripped off from family guy...

The story sea far...

so bill Murray is Owen wilsons father and that one elf birch from the lord of the rings has a fucking bun in the oven. So Steve is a washed up David Attenborough / James Cameron (the diver not the movie dude) and Owen is his son and his career sucks so he decides to kill a rare and undiscovered shark that ate his producer, also Geoffrey Goldbloom from juASSic park is like a rich sea dick, and they get boarded by a Japanese soup kitchen, bill Murray striaght up navy seals those fools some how shoots one in the head and dumps his body over board... at this point I ate an entire plate of brownies and was so stoned I passed out and only remember like 1/10th of what I watched...

So there will be a part two hopefully tonight so I can review it for you fine people so you have a deep understanding of this film ;)

Shitposting? I just am quirky and try to make people laugh, which is what happens on every other board I post on. Hopefully I can turn that frown upside down ;)

yeah forreal, once you let The Boat into your heart you will be saved as i was once drowning in an ocean of anxiety and fear and then The Boat appeared and saved me from that life.

You could be saved too!

Maybe a smarter idea thread would be movies that feature aquatic vessels?
