The Leftovers season 3 by C-Higgy !lfsExjBfzE - Sat, 15 Apr 2017 19:34:13 EST ID:uInzn1Q/ No.381758 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

In an instant, 140 million people vanished from the face of the earth. The cause of that incredible event remains unknown, and there is no indication that those who are gone will ever be seen or heard from again.

Adapting Tom Perrotta's bestselling novel of the same name, The Leftovers has explored the dynamics of one family, the Garveys, in Mapleton, New York. Continuing to focus on the ways ordinary people react to inexplicable events, season two introduced another family, the Murphys, as the show ventured into the unexplored territory of Miracle, Texas. In the third and final season, those families come together as they desperately grasp for a system of belief to better explain what defies explanation. The world is crackling with the energy of something big about to happen, a corresponding bookend to the Sudden Departure that sent them all spinning years earlier, bringing their journey down under to Australia.

The final season premieres April 16 at 9pm EDT on HBO.

The thing about Nora though is that she could have been lying. Right before she was going to get zapped to wherever the departed went its clear that she was going to shout "stop" and during her explanation at the end it was all tell no show. Lindelof stated in an interview that this was intentional and were never going to figure out what really happened, which I think is perfect since it fits a major theme of the show and we don't get a definitive answer to what happened to the departed. Even the S2-S3 intro music has the line "let the mystery be". The show was always about the drama with the mystery in the background so I don't really care whether or not she was lying, all I wanted in the end was Kevin and Nora to be together and happy. I got that, so I think it was a great finale. Ended all the characters stories nicely, had some good symbolism like Nora freeing the goat and taking its beads, some really emotional scenes which has always been a high point for me and the final shot was excellent.
Also just the idea of being in a plastic bubble with liquid that turns to solid and the "fossil" they showed was haunting, especially for me since i'm a tad claustrophobic. Fucking nightmarish.
This show already one of my favorites but having a great final season and satisfying final episode really solidified it into my top tier.

That's a possibility and they did leave it ambigious of whether or not Nora had tried to stop the process but like you said, the important thing in the end was that Nora and Kevin were together again. It was a tremendous series finale nevertheless, the final season alone made this show one of HBO's top dramas.

I'd go ahead and say that even being so short and with an uneven first season this show is on a par with anything HBO's put out. Genuine masterpiece imo
Cthulhu - Thu, 08 Jun 2017 12:50:13 EST ID:RnDlscrj No.383829 Ignore Report Quick Reply
Also Nora was totally lying. I mean the whole episode is about nothing but lies essentially, people saying things that aren't true because "it's just a nicer story". We spend 75% of the episode watching Kevin try to build an elaborate lie to avoid having to deal with all the pain he's been through and then it ends with an elaborate (and super convenient in a lot of places) story from Nora that we're told but not shown. People are right that it ultimately doesn't really matter, and I think that's the point because The Leftovers has been very clear that it's super duper not a show about answering questions, but still, come on.

God I am so glad this is finally over, Nora is probably my the most hated character I've experienced in a while. Typical neurotic soccer mom who just can't make her mind up. Overall I enjoyed the show, Matt was the shining star.

As Fear the Walking Dead returns for Season 3, the families will be brought together in the vibrant and violent ecotone of the U.S.-Mexico border. International lines done away with following the world’s end, the characters must attempt to rebuild not only society, but family as well.

Madison (Kim Dickens) has reconnected with Travis (Cliff Curtis), her apocalyptic partner, but Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) has been fractured by her murder of Andres. Mere miles from his mother, Nick’s (Frank Dillane) first action as a leader saw Luciana (Danay Garcia) ambushed by an American militia group — the couple escaped death, but Nick no longer feels immortal. Recovering both emotionally and physically, Strand (Colman Domingo) has his sights set on harnessing the new world’s currency, and Ofelia's (Mercedes Mason) captivity will test her ability to survive and see if she can muster the savagery of her father.

Fear the Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9pm EDT on AMC

>I always feared that this was some shitty cash grab
It might as well be titled Fear The Shitty Cash Grab.

Maybe it'd be good if the junkie was the only main character because nobody else is entertaining and the show, like TWD, splits the cast up and does episodes for individual characters, leaving the only good one not in the show for weeks at a time.
Blade - Wed, 07 Jun 2017 00:40:26 EST ID:jXjGsIxz No.383778 Ignore Report Quick Reply

I watched the first season, it was mediocre. It's pretty heavy-handed with its morality tales and right off the bat you can see it telegraphed how the junkie asshole fuck-up is being put through the redemption story archetype because I guess it makes the showrunners feel good to redeem a fake junkie or something. It drags a bit in the middle of the first season but the season finale is pretty good. Plus the first season is only like 6 episodes, I think. Still on the fence if I'll waste my time watching the second season, though. I'm behind a couple season on regular TWD anyways, so if you're a huge fan of it and want more to watch in-between season then I don't really see why you'd be apprehensive about watching the spin-off.
Galadriel - Thu, 08 Jun 2017 02:13:49 EST ID:uInzn1Q/ No.383812 Ignore Report Quick Reply
The season premiere was okay but nothing special. Madison, Nick, Alicia and Luciana managed to escape the base and go to a new sanctuary (that they'll inevitably take over just you wait) and Strand played doctor, made amends with the woman who stabbed him before she jumped to her death and now is on his way somewhere. No Ofelia though, she'll probably be in the next episode or two. And I'm sure the characters from Passage will show up as well.

And while I was surprised they killed Travis off like that and I even thought it was gonna end up being a dream with him waking up still on the helicopter, I really didn't think the emotional impact of the moment really hit its mark at all. Looks like Madison is gonna turn into FemRick now.

The show could be so much better and I felt like if they had stuck in the direction they were going within the first three episodes of the series. It's not the best show by any means especially not on AMC but I do like watching it for Nick and Strand.

Yo dudes lets make this thread where u describe a scene or some shit and someone tells you what its from.

I cant find this clip again, but it was from some 80s british sitcom i think. It was a sketch where some dude is sitting by a window in his apartment, and he's talking about how there was a dude across the street who kept throwing himself off of the first floor balcony, over and over, until someone finally asks what he was doing, and then he says some shit like "i wanna kill myself but im afraid of heights" or some shit along those lines.

Please somebody, anybody, tell me the name of the show this is from. I wanna watch that show but cant remember the name.

Thoughts? Prometheus was such a controversial movie, I'm interested to see how it affects the series going forward. I personally loved Prometheus, and watching this trailer, I feel like there may be an attempt to retcon it, which is disappointing. Otherwise, looks really great.

I would [i[love[/i] to see a whole movie dedicated entirely to Fassbender being a creepy robot mass murderer that was allowed to be its own thing. It just sucks that instead they feel like they have to staple a half-assed Alien fanfiction to the end of it.

Just let it be its own thing, Ripley! David wants to make something new. Let him make something new, not just CGI bootlegs of existing movie monsters.

Finished the season. It ended being pretty good and Kevin fucking Vic's girl was funny but I appreciated how they showed how much Kevin regretted it. Also Frank getting his job back with Scop and Dunbarton being killed in a gory fashion. And the whole plot of Frank and Sue at the couples retreat was pretty funny but pretty dang emotional. I think the one thing I appreciate about this show more than shows like the Simpsons and King of the Hill is how it doesn't sugarcoat the problems in Frank and Sue's marriage and it's a surprisingly honest portrayal. Being on Netflix certainly helps that more than being on network or cable.

Maybe a reference to that episode The Fly.

Almost. The objectively correct ending is: Jack returns to the past, kills Aku, then somehow at the last moment returns to the future. His family and homeland are saved, and he can meet "Ashi's" future reincarnation, as well as running into future buddies like the scotsman who do not recognize him or know all he has done for them. If I were the creator and director of the show that's how I'd end it: Jack saves the world, returns to the future, and walks into a bar and somehow gets in the scotsman's way.

Don't they say in the shows opening theme each episode that it's 50 years that have past since he's been in the future? so at a minimum he's 58 which explains why he actually noticed he wasn't aging. That wouldn't be as obvious with only 15 years.

Fucking Time Travel... There's a lot of wtf questions here, I think the finale should have been an hour. Technically it is the hero ending even if most of us (myself included) weren't in love with it. I don't know exactly what year the past and pressent are supposed to be but Jack saved a whole shit tone of generations from Aku's evil but ya, something about it didn't feel right. We never really got into the complications of time travel until this last episode despite the show being about a time traveling Samurai. Just left asking a lot of questions. The final fight it self was "fun" and a bit intesne towards the end but I was expecting a lot more, especially when this season gave us (IMO) the best action scenes of the series, that second episode had one the best animated fight sequences I've personally seen. I DID like the final scene a lot though, even if I didn't want to end with Jack going back to the past

The reason for me as to why "something didn't feel right" is the episode where we see all the people Jack saved and who they grew up to be Only to have them not exist or eventually exist and lead a totally different life

The Ashi stuff, romance in a show that had non before is fine, I had no problems with her up until the time portal. Her having Aku's power just for combats sake is totally fine but her using the portal seemed like to much Deus Ex B.S. for my taste

That episode was great.

Also grandmas are regular people, with the same wide variety of tastes and preferences as anyone else, so it's kind of hard to recommend anything without knowing more about her. Instead of patronizing her with stereotypical "grannycore" shit that you assume old people watch, just ask her what she likes.

Mine loves Adult Swim. She highly recommends Assy McGee. She could be into ATHF or Mr. Pickles just as much as Downton Abbey or Antiques Roadshow for all we know.

So the 12th season has just ended with the most fucking interesting ending that the show had ever delivered.

You know what I always wanted the big twist of Supernatural to be? That all the demons are actually full of shit. I hate the "budget demon" and Angels. How they just switch hosts on the fly, it would be neat to find out they are just fucking with naive humans who actually believe them. It would be neat if there Lucifer, Lilith and all those guys died centuries ago and new kids were just taking the torch. Saying I'm Satan is a lot scarier than saying I'm Bob.

I much preferred the monster of the week days. Remember the Wendigo?! It was actually a dude in a monster suit. There weren't that many monster's mostly ghosts but I still preferred those days and wish the show never went the "destiny/ chosen one/ prophecy" direction.

>Really scraping the bottom of the barrel.
Maybe, but at least it makes more sense than crossing over with the WWE and trying to solve the mystery of the demon car that is ruining Vince's branching out of an official WWE racing league. Or deciding to crossover with the Jetsons because I guess someone really wanted to make a new Jetsons cartoon that wasn't an Adult Swim parody.

No my friend, if they were really scrapping the bottom of the barrel, they'd do a Superwholock crossover.
