Yes, that's literally the event I've been referring to for 2 posts.
Extended Universe is cool. It's as important to any fan as any fan makes it. But when >>393664 is talking about how the DISNEY MOVIES should use EXTENDED UNIVERSE material, it comes across as tragically oblivious. That just ain't gonna happen, famalamas. And by all means, Fuck Disney for that decision. Might've been cool.

>the DISNEY MOVIES should use EXTENDED UNIVERSE material
Disney is doing its best to pay tribute to EU fans, so honestly they should stop being such bitchbabies. They even let Timothy Zahn write a book reintroducing his classic EU character Thrawn into the Disney canon line. What more do these fuckers want? I love the EU too, but get with the fucking program, it's retconned, just treat it like a sweet alternate timeline.

Just watched, and thoroughly enjoyed Marshall. One of the few biopics that feels like it could be part of a running series since a lot of Thurgood Marshall cases are ripe for dramatization. Anyway, now I have a hankering for more court movies or legal dramas. Doesn't have to be drama exclusively, though. I'm mostly looking for good movies, but I wouldn't say no to some good series recommendations like The People v. O. J. Simpson too. Although I should stress that I'm not really interested in garbage-tier network filler like Law and Order.

I've already seen 12 Angry Men, To Kill a Mockingbird, A Few Good Men, Philadelphia, Find Me Guilty, and My Cousin Vinny.

I mean its not exactly a "law movie" but Liar, Liar is centered around a court case.
I guess a more applicable movie would be Primal Fear with Richard Gere and Edward Norton. Fantastic movie

Primal Fear was going to be one of my recs. One of Norton's best performances. I also heard Kramer V Kramer is good but I haven't seen it so can't recommend.

The ultimate court room drama is Judgement at Nuremberg. It dramitizes the best moments of the actual Nuremberg trials.
Great cross examination and questioning that really happened.

>everyone was all "HURR FUCK JJ THIS MOVIE WILL BE ALL LENS FLRE AND NO SUBSTANCE", then it introduced amazing characters and had a fun plot
That's just the thing. JJ wasn't allowed to create his own look for Star Wars. And he almost certainly didn't want to. Star Wars always has a classic look that still fits in the modern era and nothing needed to be changed about that.

That's one of the hundreds of mistakes Lucas made in the prequels, changing the look far too much. It's also why so many fans hate the Special Editions. The special editions clean up all of the special effects REALLY nicely, especially in the first Star Wars. Then they throw a bunch of CGI trash into the MIDDLE AND FOREGROUND instead of the background where they'd be subtle and passable.

Current CGI is great in the middle ground but not what Lucas was working with. And as far as foreground CGI, we have two main examples. The twin pillars by which modern CGI stands or falls: Iron Man's suit, and Superman's upper lip. Perfection, and disgrace.

General film nerds though. I feel like Star Wars nerds ate that shit up.
Film nerds view it as a paint-by-numbers pseudo reboot, and they have a very good point.
Star Wars fans generally like the new characters and forgive them being in the EXACT SAME STORY. Plus it's positively loaded up to the brim of acceptable fan service and they sort of go into a trance. I was in a Carrie Fisher trance, because she was and will forever be a drugged up bipolar goddess.

As a casual viewer what's so great about 7 and offensive about 8 to you?
I'd consider myself one and hated 7/liked 8. And to play into 394653's point; the most consistent logical praise I've seen of 8 comes from a proper Star Wars nerd who's ALSO a film nerd, for whom the latter takes precedence since it's his job.

Years ago lurking this board I saw a reccomendation thread for anime films. I watched th is one with what I thought was an older guy who meets a younger girl she may have been a child. There were a lot of shots of them by a rocky seashore and I'm pretty sure it was downright depressing. Hope I'm not cluttering this board. But my nostalgia for this thing is utterly gut-renching. So there was a French or Itallian animated movie about a war, the main character was a dude with a blonde hair who's later getting his eyes burned, there's also a sexy lady alongside him, there's a scene where the sexy lady is taking a shower while the blonde dude with the burned eyes is looking after her, then some drunk sneaky asshole commes around just to see the naked body of that sexy lady, then the blonde dude kicks that assholes ass.

P.S. Sorry for my bad English

Let's get a murder porn thread going.

Obviously this idea can't come into fruition because it's illegal but I can't help but feel aroused when I imagine hypothetical plots for snuff films featuring my abusers. I don't care if that makes me seem like a horrible person. I don't care if people ostracize me for "thought crime." I can fap to whatever I want.

What would you want to see in a snuff film featuring the leader of a child porn ring? Someone who fought dogs and was into bestiality? What about his wife who filmed it? Please help me get even hornier than I already am. This is not to be confused with homicidal ideation because I have zero motivation to go through with the hassle.

Imagining it while having an orgasm is good enough for me.

It's sort of neat how this dude thinks we're the crazy ones. Anyway, talking about movies and television...

The show before Eric Andre wasn't groundbreaking, but it had some good bits. Like giving those frat boys a real doll to carry around called Non-Consenting Cathy and then telling them the next day that one of the dolls was found to have traces of semen in it. The fear in that Chad's eyes when he's shouting he didn't do it and he'd take a DNA test had me rolling.

The reason why they had to tie that show before Eric Andre to Eric Andre is that even the producers knew it was bad. There's no way anyone would have watched it on it's own. God I hope she doesn't make more garbage.

Eric Andre Does Paris was good although maybe that was just the juxtaposition. Too bad there's still no release date for actual season 5.

A Netflix series based on the classic cyberpunk novel. Subpar acting, writing, and fight choreography, but the atmosphere, cinematography, and world-building more than make up for it. And who isn't a sucker for sex, violence, and cyberpunk shit? I'm so happy cyberpunk shit is becoming mainstream. Can't wait til Ready Player One.

Big (stupid) changes from the book: Envoys are rebels instead of CTAC super-soldiers. It doesn't make any fucking sense, but apparently the feminist creator wanted to have the stronk independent black womyn in season 1 so they rewrote the envoys into the most retarded bullshit. For some reason she gave Takeshi an incestuous sister, I guess cause incest sells these days? She also made Lizzie more fleshed out because of feminist bullshit, but took out the one time Kovacs goes into a female sleeve because she didn't want a womyn to be tortured. I'm not speculating about the feminist creator btw: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/altered-carbon-creator-explains-the-shows-biggest-/1100-6456691/ The only real positive change was changing the Hendrix into the Raven imo.

Keep with it because it gets better. We had threads for it on here for seasons 2-4 and for other Cinemax shows but they’ve basically changed directions and downsized their output of their original shows, which sucks because they had some great shows like The Knick and Quarry.

Finished watching the show. For someone that likes cyberpunk, lots of action and interesting science ficition concepts, I really liked it. Also thought Joel Kinnaman did a good job as Kovacs though he probably won’t be back next season if it gets renewed.

Seconded!

Perfect mix of intrigue, spooky things and a little bit of light humor, but not so much that it isn't believable. Well, at least with the first detective, they've modernized it a bit with the newest seasons, but luckily that's like 2 or 3 out of 1000 seasons.

Without a doubt my favourite crime-series.

Right now I'm watching John Adams, and I think it's pretty badass, would recommend also, if you want to watch something other than people fucking and commercials. I didn't give a shit about American history but this kinda fired up my interest, it's pretty good shit with some cool dudes.
I was going to recommend Mad Men for it's great dialogue and person gallery, but then I remembered that it's basically just fucking, status and some paperwork shit.

And of course, the best of the best, The Leftovers. It's fucking great, I found the first season excellent but many people can't stomach the gloom, the second and third is increasingly colourful and extremely enjoyable.
