>This Is Us s01e11 - The Right Thing to Do

Well I can't say I was really surprised that Toby survived. Typical OMG is he dead or alive cliffhanger. I suppose that heart attack made him realize how much he loves Kate and now wants to marry her though it felt cliche. I will say I'm glad Kevin made the right decision to stick with Sloane instead of fall back to Olivia because let's face it, Sloane is a much better fit for Kevin not just to help him rebuild his acting career but to give his life some much needed stability. I wasn't really digging Randall's storyline at first with him feeling uncomfortable with William's sexuality and bonding with someone else in his dying days but I thought that William's heartfelt conversation with Randall about him wanting to not have Randall suffer through his death and wanting to be in a nursing home to spare him the pain was a good scene to really show that bond between them. And if there's one thing I most like about This Is Us is the flashback scenes with Jack and Rebecca because of how it shows different points in their lives before and during when they had kids putting Kevin, Kate and Randall's lives into perspective. Plus this show does a delicate job of balancing the feel good and emotional moments.

Went through the Eva rebuild movies at the end of my NGE binge. Second time I've watched everything and 3.0 still kind of irks me in a weird way. Time skip is odd and they dont really explain why Shinji and the other pilots look the same other than Asuka saying "its the Eva's curse". I feel like they could have just done a shorter time skip, maybe 3 years or something. Everything is way more serious too, the series and the other two movies had some comedy sprinkled in. I mean it fits with the tone of the movie but still it just feels like so much was changed from the rest of Eva, plus Misato is my favorite character and shes such a hardass in this, shes like Gendo lite. The super duper gay sexual tension with Kaworu and Shinji is strange too, shinji can be gay or straight I don't really care but all that came out of nowhere, but at least Kaworu was a bit more developed. In the series he got like what, 1 episode? Always felt rushed but im sure that was because of the whole budget debacle like the last few episodes.
Anyways I'm still excited for the fourth and final movie

Watched episode 3 of Jeff & Some Aliens. It's ok but I don't think it'll make it more than a season or two. Comedy Central's track record with animated series isn't that great (South Park & Futurama aside). Brickleberry was terrible but they kept it going to make Daniel Tosh happy.

I thought it was a surprisingly good season premiere and showing the backstory of the events leading up to the hosts taking over LA and with Snyder, Broussard and the Bowmans was the right decision to help fill in the blanks. They did a good job with this episode and the buildup to what happens was reminiscent of the first episode of Fear the Walking Dead.

it was decent. I went into it knowing nothing about it, and was . As far as melodramas go, it was good. It's a moody slow burn following a youth growing up poor and discovering(?) his homosexuality. Despite that general description, i feel it's enough to summarize the plot. But i'm happy it ended on a relatively sweet note.

Some pretty good episodes and storylines leading up to the season finale with the Unity Concert, Leslie's pregnancy and Tom trying to open his restaurant. Also Craig is a pretty obnoxious character tbh.

>This Is Us s01e12 - The Big Day

Sure this episode was basically a prequel to the first episode but I thought it helped lend a bit of backstory to what happened before the first episode like the struggles Dr. K was going through after losing his wife and Jack and Rebecca dealing with the pregnancy. In all I thought it was really good.

That 2 part season finale was really good for both its feel good moments as well as its comedic ones and the list of guest stars too. It was good to see the concert go well to help unify Pawnee and Eagleton and Duke fuckin Silver with that sax solo was awesome. Should be interesting to see how Leslie handles running a National Parks office in Pawnee.

Gonna watch the final season this weekend. And holy shit they actually made The Cones of Dunshire into a real game.

When this show incorporates real world events into Josh's love life, I think they do a very humorous job of that like with Mike being Edward Snowden and blowing the whistle on Josh's secrets only Lucy knew about and the Chilean Mine collapse making Mike and Lucy break the ice to make conversation. I also got a good laugh out of Mike's meeting with Josh and showing the pie charts of who they've been with and Methelda.

>Parks and Recreation s07e01-2 - 2017 and Ron & Jammy

I'm finally watching the final season, which is 2 years after I said I would in the season 7 thread. At first it felt a little weird with the time jump in the first episode and laying the groudwork with catching up with everyone and seeing Ron and Leslie's feud, Tom becoming a successful businessman, and April and Andy becoming a boring couple. They did get the Cubs winning the 2016 World Series right though.

This Is Us s01e13 - Three Sentences

A lot of dramas that I watch these days including this tend to introduce conflict in one way or another that drive the plot and stuff. This episode was a changeup from all that as there wasn't really any conflict and much more comfy while still packing the emotional moments this show provides. In particular, I really enjoyed Jack and Rebecca's story this week trying to manage three separate birthday parties. Those scenes with Randall telling Rebecca that he feels happy having his close friends show up to his party rather than the whole class and Jack posing like Madonna with Kate to cheer her up. And Sterling K. Brown still kills it as Randall on this show and his acting really shined this week, I was anticipating that Randall would get upset at William for making him get out of work but I'm glad that he embraced being able to spend his time with his dad, who doesn't have much time left. Kevin's story surprised me with that twist of him choosing his ex-wife Sophie over Olivia and Sloane as the person he wants to spend the rest of his life with. Hopefully it goes somewhere with them trying to reconnect as now there's an underlying motive of him going to New York. As for Kate, I am not really digging her character development and story right now. I just think it's cliche and one dimensional to try and make it all about her weight. Even more cliche is doing a love triangle with Toby and Luke but with fat people. Apparently as part of Chrissy Metz's contract, she's required to lose weight, which is an interesting clause but maybe it'll pay off depending on the direction this show goes with her character.

Last week's was a much weaker episode.

new GOTHAM was fucking amazing, and next week is going to be an insane climax to this little Joker trilogy we've been enjoying. I love how they're remixing all these little elements from classic Joker stories, especially the new take on the Joker having his face cut off (in the comics he does it to himself obv)

Oh yeah, I forgot that one. So far the show is hit/miss, I only really liked eps 1, 3, and 4.

The first two episodes of season 2 went up today. So far it's off to an intriguing start especially with Cal trying to manage getting the funds to buy the center in NYC and Sarah now knowing that he killed Silas. I suppose we'll also see where things go with Eddie and the consequences of his trip to Peru and that woman from his past whose back in his life now. I do like the show's building mythology of Meyerism and the effects of being in a cult-like religious movement, that aspect is handled really well and the strength of Paul, Monaghan and Dancy's role carry the show.

Watching through Workaholics season 6 since I didn't tune into it when it aired, on episode 9 and I'm gonna watch the new episodes when I'm done with this season
This show has some really strange cameos like dane cook and pauly shore and whitney cummings.
Also I've noticed it before but this show has a shit ton of product placement. Slim jims, carls jr, a bunch of cars, its crazy. Doesn't take away from the show and they're not super in your face about it (since its typical for men like the workaholics to love these things) but its definitely there.

Product placement is more obvious when you watch live. The one where they get lost in the woods and they kept advertising the food they were eating while lost (maybe this is the slim jim one?) kept playing bumpers saying "This episode is brought to you with limited commercial interuption, thanks to SLIM JIM" (or whatever the fuck they were eating). Also, whenever a network says there will be "limited commercials", how come it always seems like there's just as many commercials as ever? Like when Walking Dead says it's an extended episode and then the episode is the same length, only the ads have doubled in size.

Lucy has been a welcome addition to the show's cast and a girlfriend to Josh. The fantasy elements in this episode were off the chart like the Where The Wild Things Are parody. Also that whole Anti-Lucy committee scene was hilarious.

>Like when Walking Dead says it's an extended episode and then the episode is the same length, only the ads have doubled in size.

It's not though. Typically on cable and network, hour long episodes are about 40-50 minutes. Extended episodes would be able 60-70 minutes give or take.

That would have been season 3. 4 was pretty mediocre outside of like 2 episodes. 5 was a bit better and 6 was surprisingly pretty good.

God damn Fiona is probably easily the most hatable female main character out of any show I've ever watched, except maybe behind Lori from The Walking Dead. She's just totally retarded, a dumb whore (and I like promiscuous women, so it's saying a lot for me to say that) and she just over and over again makes a cunt of herself. It's very hard to have any compassion for her.

In season 7, writers were trying to change her to avoid those criticisms. Every other season, her arc is meeting some new scummy dude and banging him until it goes bad. At least in season 7, she's trying to do things with her life rather than fuck rando guys. What's she doing wrong in season 7? Bullying Lip? Lip's a damn mess. Making investments? Why not?

the expensive adult swim shows are always released slow (boondocks/venture bros) or get cancelled (korgoth/boondocks). plus the animation quality seems to improve every season. but it clearly has more time and sheer effort going into it than anything else on the network.

I actually haven't seen any of the sixth season past the first episode, I'm almost hesitant since once I've watched it, it's over and I'm out of eps for god knows how long. it's short too. plus i was kinda underwhelmed by that episode, the only times I laughed out loud were at dr reachmore and brock going TMI with the lasso of truth. that ending seemed out of character for dr girlfriend too. not sure how excited I am about her having an affair with a manatee as a major subplot for the season.

The first ep of that season was weak but the rest was fukkin gold. I'm hyper critical of comedies and will turn on shows in an instant but the new VB season was epic.

Watched the episodes leading up to the series finale, which I'm going to watch tomorrow. This season has been much more story driven like season 4 was but I thought they've done a good job with it by fleshing out Ron and Leslie's feud, Tom getting back together with Lucy, and Andy and April dealing with changes in their life and moving away. I also enjoyed John Cena's guest appearance in the awesome Johnny Karate episode. Can't believe I'm almost done watching this show.

That series finale really hit all the right spots. It was emotional, it was happy, it was funny, and most of all, it had heart. For a show that critics wrote it off in its first season but completely turned it around, it really became one of network television's best comedies of this decade so far. Gonna miss this show.

Could they have gone the True Detective route and done a different time period with a different cast at the Knick but every two seasons? It wouldn't have been a bad idea but I do like the idea of seeing where the show's characters have gone after Thackery died.

I love how it juxtaposes the horror the human characters experience about being surrounded by these mysterious robots that could rip their flesh from their bones, and the horror the robot characters experience about being hounded all over the place by the commands of untouchable real humans that use them to play obscure games on the edges of their accessable memory.

I finished Mars. The end of episode 5 sort of irritated me. Really, someone who has no reason to do EVAs has access to the codes for the external door? And the external door isn't an airlock? It's just a door leading directly to the near-vaccuum. "You know, we just installed an everyday death hatch in the botany section, just in case you need it to advance the plot."

Was there some in fiction reason for all that and I just missed it? Or just lazy writing? It's been renewed and I'll be watching season 2 because it was still really solid. But, just that one scene.

Yeah I agree, and I think that was pretty sloppy, but most didn't really analyze it that much I imagine. But it does help to further the idea about mental health dangers in that kind of environment, in a dramatic way, so I give it a pass.
And that's cool, I'm glad it got renewed, I had figured that it was just gonna be a one season event type deal, and if so that ending would have irked me a bit. If it was just left open like that it would have just kinda felt like a 6 hour long NASA ad/promo.

Dude pretty much has a personality, The Beast, which feeds on people. That's why he's kidnapped the girls, so he can eat them. It seemed like he only ate people who he deemed deserving of it, though I can't remember his exact requirements. Anyway, when in Beast mode he becomes nearly invincible. Takes two shotgun blasts to the chest and walks it off, shit like that. The movie ends with a news report in a cafe where they call McAvoy's character The Horde and reference a train wreck from 15 years ago and the guy involved in that. Some chicks asks, loudly and to herself, what the guy's name was. Camera pans to Bruce Willis as he says, Mr. Glass. I'm guessing they're setting it up for The Horde to be Willis's enemy.

The scenes between Eddie and Hawk this week were kinda sad seeing how Hawk is becoming distant from Eddie as he becomes more involved in Meyerism and beginning his ascent up the ladder. What was really a kick in the balls is Eddie having to see Cal act as Hawk's new father figure. I am pretty intrigued though with Richard's investigation into Steve's death and now he suspects Cal was the man in the drawing that supposedly killed Steve, which we know that Eddie was the man in the drawing and Steve was struck by lightning and fell off the cliff.

The space battle of the assault on the station linked to the Eros incident organism was actually pretty badass though it was just a minor battle. They use real physics unlike a lot of other sci fi shows, and the maneuvering was pretty damn cool and actually seems like what a battle like that might actually be like. The writers for the books and the series are pretty imaginative in the way they portray the future.
And what they found on the station just gives more questions. I was really shocked that Miller killed that guy, but can't really blame him since he's got that insane love for Julie Mao who he's never even met.
The politics is becoming really interesting and Avasarala is actually becoming a really interestings, somewhat likeable character. I'm intrigued to see what else happens when she gets a conversation with Fred Johnson.

I'm willing to bet that if William survives the Host uprising, he and Dolores will "find" each other again, fits the whole narrative idea of story loops, and now that Dolores has awakened "Wyatt" within her, I don't think she even considers William an evil person. Hell, looking at how things are now, William might end up becoming the damsel in distress, and Dolores the lonesome cowboy - that is, if he survives of course.

I didn't mind when it was little time travel (season 1 had cool uses of it), but now they just retconned all the stories that made me care about the characters in the first place. Yeah it was pretty decent, I remember liking the trailer because it reminded me of that old south park episode about russell crowe fighting round the world but I only got around to watching it the other day. There was a caller who said he had been saying it IRL non-stop lately and I completely related. I've been saying it all the time and people don't necessarily get it but it can make a good punchline and get laughs. My friends were making me watch some cooking show last night and I was shitfaced mocking the cast like "I... I... I don't like parents putting their kids on reality TV." Then there was this little gay 8 year old boy and I say "I.. I don't like kids coming out of the closet so young" and everyone got mad at that point because i guess 8 year olds have human rights or some shit.

new ep of The Mick was really really good. It had the best elements of Always Sunny humor, but also took some unique directions that Always Sunny would never go, really solidifying the show as something other than just The Sweet Dee Spinofff. That final scene was really well directed, felt like a scene from Sopranos or Breaking Bad (like Jesse drinking that awkward glass of water tier stuff)

>The Path s02e04 - Red Eye

There was a lot of emotional trauma to be had in this episode whether it was Eddie coming to terms of having been under mind control, that woman who had unburdened herself, or Shawn questioning whether he should go or stay with Mary, this show really tackles how a cult like the Meyerist movement affects people in different yet profound ways. Not to mention Cal and Sarah now know the FBI is investigating them and someone working for them is among their followers. Should be interesting how Agent Gaines navigates that.

>This Is Us s01e14 - I Call Marriage

I think the take on marriage and being a theme in this episode was a bold choice considering how interconnected relationships are on this show and how they affect both parties. I mean you can see how Randall, Kevin and Kate are struggling with their own lives because Kevin trying to woo his ex-wife, Kate being caught up with Luke trying to hit on her and Toby interfering in her weight loss camp, and Randall struggling to deal with William's impending passing and having to split the accounts with Sanjay, things just aren't always looking up for the Piersons. I will say that I really liked Jack and Rebecca trying to not be like Miguel and his ex. That ending was really sweet with them re-reading their wedding vows.

I've always liked how this show portrays relationships and what couples like Josh and Lucy go through in a humourous yet surreal way and this episode was no exception. I certainly could relate to being in a rut of just doing the same thing with someone else instead of going out. The whole heist parody of going to the club was clever and the Indiana Jones parody was good and just what Lucy needed to find excitement in her life. Fortunately she realized she could do that with Josh and he realized that they need to get out more. Solid stuff this week though.

>Humans s01e01-4

Catching up on the first season before season 2 premieres on Monday. It's a pretty good so far and I've noticed the tonal and thematic similarities to Orphan Black (and Westworld to a lesser extent) concerning the exploration of the ethics of the shows subjects and showing it from all sides. I am still trying to understand if Leo is a human who altered himself with cybernetics to make himself more of a synth or a synth that injected human DNA into himself to make himself more human. I'd put it as AMC's third best show behind Better Call Saul and Halt and Catch Fire right now.

Well the show it is based on didn't have any trouble coming up with good ideas for s02. They should have just lifted that material rather than trying to use their feeble AMC minds to come up with unique directions, its like when Walking Dead goes off-comic for an arc.

Finished the season. I enjoyed it and while it doesn't pack as much action as Orphan Black, it goes at a good pace and I think it does a fair job to humanize the synths and seeing how the Hawkins family tries to cope with being caught in the middle of it all.

I still haven't gotten around to watching it but I at least want to try after I watch Humans season 2. And I was right that Leo is a human that was synthetically modified.

It's a Channel 4 series that AMC is rebroadcasting in the US. It is cool that Carrie-Ann Moss is going to be on this season though.

>New Girl s06e16 - Operation: Bobcat

My girl friend was here so we watched this week's episode. Winston's proposal to Aly was awkward albeit cute with the whole bobcat thing and Jess having to read what Winston wanted to say to her. Best part of the episode was Gordon Ramsay's guest appearance though.

I've come to the conclusion that it's a hit or miss show and its humor mostly comes from its quirkiness and awkwardness involved with Jess and the gang. Not really up my alley but it would probably end up being a guilty pleasure if I was ever bored and wanted to binge another network comedy on Netflix.

>This Is Us s01e15 - Jack Pearson's Son

I honestly really liked this week's episode and I'm glad Kate called Duke out and turned down his advances, that guy was a selfish prick as much as I like the actor playing Ferg on Longmire. I figure that they're gonna stretch out the reveal of how Jack died with Kate finally unburdening herself to Toby even after he did in this episode. Probably a wise decision by him to postpone the wedding until they get to know each other better. I'll admit that she's grown on me more as they've done a better job writing her other than being fat and dealing with her weight.

Same with Kevin as they've been doing a better job getting more into how his past relationships have affected who he's become and the choices he's made whether it's "cautiously dating" his ex-wife or being scared that his play is gonna bomb and it'll ruin his career. The scene where he talked with Miguel who reminded him that he's Jack Pearson's son was very well done. Certainly one of his best scenes this season so far.

And god damn the scenes with Randall this week really got to me given all that he's experienced and been put through the ringer this season especially for what it built up to after what he had to deal with in this episode with his wife having to go to DC since her mom broke her hip, the thought of William dying when he's not there, and and that meeting not going so well for him. I also though the contrast of Kevin not being there for Randall when they were teens and then him making the decision to be with him at the cost of his play opening was a dumb but brave choice to make. Won't be surprised if Sterling Brown is up for an Emmy for his role on the show.

Besides Randall's storyline, Jack's has been my other one I've most been intrigued and who he was before he died. Like now he's been put into a stressful situation with Rebecca going on tour and having to take care of the kids thinking he can handle it. Unfortunately when he finds out that guy Bruce she's touring with was her ex-boyfriend. Jack had every right to be upset with Rebecca not telling him that Bruce was her ex but I did think that his jealousy is an indication of the deeper problems they have in their marriage. Could be why she and Miguel decided to get married after he got divorced and she became a widow.

>Difficult People s01e01 & 2 - Library Water & Devil's Three-Way

Just starting watching this last night. As much as I thought that Billy Eichner's role on Parks and Recreation felt too over the top and out of place on the show, his personality fits right into this one and it helps that he has such a good repoire with Julie Klausner, who created this show. The comedy is on point as is the pop culture ridden banter between them and I got a good laugh from a couple of lines. Billy and Julie are sort of like Jimmy and Gretchen in that they're shitty people but they're also endearing. Not to mention it also stars Dr. Venture so that's a plus.

Idk if it was my theater but was that movie fucking loud as balls to you? I don't mind loud stuff, and it was tolerable, but holy shit every car constantly at max RPM and all the crashing for minutes in a row was kind of annoying. Theres a shootout where he's being chased and like 10 people are shooting at his back from maybe 10 yards away with automatic weapons and it felt pretty cheesey.

It was fun. I do kind of wish they made his movements a bit slower and had the action play out more realistically than him running around with auto aim and everyone taking turns shooting at him

Now watching Ralph Baskhi's Lord of the Rings (1978)

Took a little bottle of delsym to make my shit virus have an out of body experience (IE getting the fuck outta my body)

Gonna disso to this chill ass adaptation of Tolkiens classic

I love everything about 70s cinema, especially animated features. The animation, the sound effects and music, the rudimentary but creative visual effect techniques. This film is a sellers example of it. The opening sequence is done in like lice action shadow acting to look like it's still an "animated" sequence. Some of the animation is goofy and imperfect as it's all hand done and adds a certain charm. Even tho I was born in the 90s, the animation takes me back to the feeling of a simpler time of art and animation in a decade I find to have a very gritty but charming culure of art and social outlooks from what I feel of it. I'm decently a fan of Baskhi's works.

I wish I had that Black Coludrun movie that one was really fun and relaxing to me too!

Didn't have a chance to post what I watched these last few days:

Saw it on Saturday, it was a pretty crazy film and James McAvoy playing those different personalities was quite impressive. Wasn't expecting the Beast to cannibalize both girls and him just hugging his psychologist to death was cringe inducing by how bone-cracking it was. Can't wait for The Unbreakable Split of whatever the fuck M Night will call it when it happens.

>Difficult People s01e03 & 4 - Pledge Week & The Courage of a Soldier

These episodes were a slight step down but still fairly enjoyable especially for the HBO references in episode 4 and the whole Children's Menu restaurant idea, which while good, was bad in execution.

Between this and BoJack Horseman, I'm surprised they even referenced John From Cincinnati. I feel like I'm the only one that even liked that show. I'm gonna rewatch it this summer though since it'll be 10 years since it ended.

>Big Little Lies episode 1 - Somebody's Dead

No one was talking about this but the first episode was decent. I like how they're flashing back and forward between before and after the murder happened with the police interviews interspliced to help give more perspective to the show's characters and possible suspects. >Son of Zorn s01e13 - All Hail Son of Zorn

The finale was good and seeing Zorn and Craig team up was hilarious. They make a good pair. Also Alan being a weirdo and embarrassing himself is one of the show's highlights trying to impress Layla.

I'm unsure whether it's gonna picked up for a second season (I'd be surprised if it was) but I think this is a more of a show that would belong on Adult Swim rather than on Fox. It did at least slowly improve over the course of the season though ratings haven't been as good as Fox's other hit freshman comedy The Mick.

Watched a documentary about Vik Muniz, "who travels to the world's largest landfill, Jardim Gramacho outside Rio de Janeiro, to collaborate with a lively group of catadores of recyclable materials, who find a way to the most prestigious auction house in London via the surprising transformation of refuse into contemporary art." It was emotional but also uplifting seeing how his art helps positively influenced the catadores to being more than just garbage pickers and changing their lives for the better.

Just got done watching it and I thought The Young Pope was fantastic as well. Jude Law was so damn good and absolutely nailed the role. Like seriously he was just dropping awesome monologues after monologues - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=591n8GKvyaY

I really liked how we see Lenny/Pius XIII's development and transformation over the course of the season and while I did think there were some things that were seemingly wrapped up quick and not really expanded upon during the season like Vioello trying to sabotage the Pope and being less prominent in the last couple episodes considering that he played a good foil to Lenny. Nevertheless, I appreciated what it set out to accomplish and its portrayal of a younger as well as an American Pope.

Incredible episode. Was really moved by it all and for the love Randall has for his dying father and being able to spend his last moments together with William.

>The Path s02e05 & 6 - From The Source & For Our Safety

Been liking Eddie and Hawk's character developments so far this season and it's starting to pick up with Richard finding out that Eddie was with Steve when he died and Abe being in charge of security while keeping his undercover status a secret. He definitely gonna hook up with Joy and ruin his marriage tho.

It was a funny ass episode. I could not when Tina and Gene were bonding with Linda over eating cat food. The banter between Bob and the cat agent was the best parts though.

Personally season 3 was my favorite one and this show is a timeless classic never gets old. It was fun binge rewatching this show on Netflix a while back.

It's not a great show but it's good enough for me and seeing Tim Meadows be one of the best parts of it. Alan getting pregnant has a lot of comedy potential but the implications for Layla being a dad would help push the show into a more serious direction.

the way people talk about steven universe I would that most episodes of it suck at this point. I watched up until they introduced the blue chick who controlled water, but after that I lost interest. It isn't bad, but it's so slow, the extended cast is uninteresting, and it rarely made me laugh (though there were a few big laughs). the bits seemingly putting an overarching story together were interesting, and made me curious about where all these gem people come from, but it looks like there's a 1-10 story to standalone episode ratio. I can't slog through that if the inbetween bits aren't funny. also the fight scenes dont seem to have any umph to them. they clearly have a good budget going into this but there's no impact behind the punches.
Jacob Black - Sat, 25 Feb 2017 08:23:15 EST ID:wOmPhO0j No.379472 Ignore Report Quick Reply
Maybe watch it like X-Files or anime, with an internet guide to skipping filler. With shows like X-Files and Steven Universe (not anime though) there's some good filler, and the guides usually make note of the episodes that are critically acclaimed but also don't move the plot along.

Also, it sounds like you went into Steven Universe expecting a traditional cartoon with laughs and gags. The show almost never makes me laugh and I am fine with this, I watch for the trippy visuals and the feels. The episodes that attempt to be funny are almost always horrible in SU.

>also the fight scenes dont seem to have any umph to them
The fights are best when there's flashing lights everywhere and crazy music playing, the sensory overload makes up for the wussy battles.

I'd say this clip from s1e2 has everything that makes the show enjoyable for me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAWQhU7EjJA If these moments didn't hook you on the show, it might not be for you.

Oh yeah, weed helps.

it's funny you should link that episode, because it has one of the few moments where I did actually laugh. the throwing amethyst bit they refernece in that clip was pretty great. That clip itself is good too, I expected every episode to be like that one and was disappointed. If there's guides to watching it I may have to seek one out. The one I saw for the star wars clone wars series was similarly useful.

>Humans s02e01 & 2

I watched the two episodes of the season and they were okay but it was slow. There wasn't a whole lot that really happened in terms of plot aside from Niska uploading Elster's sentience code and infecting a few synths and Carrie Ann-Moss' character trying to figure out the code. I hope it picks up and we start to really see the consequences of that new code having as more synths become infected and Niska is gonna be tried in a court as a human.

I watched the first season but didn't get back into it. I probably should binge the rest of the series after season 4 ends.

The ideas this show comes up to portray relationships is some funny shit like Josh doing a panel for his upcoming proposal like it's a movie and Lucy acting like Sherlock Holmes trying to deduce Josh's proposal and shitting on Dr. Watson. My favorite part from these two episodes was when they had the bomb squad deliver the wedding invitation to his mom and when Josh said she was Jewish everyone ran off. I've said before Katie Findlay is a welcome addition to cast and plays off Jay Baruchel so well, hopefully she sticks around.

It's gonna be one of those shows like Silicon Valley where everyone except the protagonist is more interesting and funny.

I Don't Feel at Home in this World Anymore

I'm not sure what I was expecting from this exactly, but it wasn't a comedic noir feel-good movie. so being taken by surprise like that, I really enjoyed this one. It kept me interested and enthralled the entire time and left smiling at the end, couldn't ask for more. the ending shootout had some impressive gore too, lmao when that throwing star landed in Levy's face and the shipwrecked shotgun blew up on her

I recommend avoiding the trailer if you're interested as it has some scenes from the ending that lose their effect without the gradual escalation from the movie.

This was another art documentary I watched. It's about Tim Rollins and his program to teach art to at-risk teens while also educating them on the literature they're portraying on the canvas. I thought it did a good job to show how the teens are affected by the program and their personal lives outside of it and stuff like one of the students dying after being held hostage and getting shot execution style and another thinking that he was HIV positive (was actually negative).

>Big Little Lies episode 2 - Serious Mothering

This miniseries has been shaping up to be really good so far. There's a lot of intrigue and hidden layers beneath white upper class suburbia and first world problems leading up to the murder. I do like how the police interviews help to shape the show's perspective on its starring characters and possible suspects. The star cast certainly carries it and Shailene Woodley and Nicole Kidman's performances have been really good so far though I can't shake seeing Adam Scott without Amy Poehler, man I miss Parks & Rec. The show in a way reminds me of Bloodline season 1 in showing glimpses of the future but building up the mystery of what had already taken place.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. This movie was god damned hilarious and awesome. Gave me lots of Big Lebowski or Fargo vibes, with a hefty dash of the old ultraviolence at the end there, and I can definitely see this being one of my new favorite cult classics. Check this one out niggas.

Also, finished Moonlight. It was good. Not amazing, but still a solid drama/romance. It just happens to be about a guy who is black and gay, but I thought that was ultimately tangential to the overall theme of the movie, and if that is what's still hanging you up over it, you probably have deeper problems. Being a dude struggling to define your identity in an environment that seems determined to alienate you is something I assume most guys can identify with, regardless of whether you're gay or straight, black or white, living in a gangland inner city or bumfuck rural Trumpistan. Also I subconsciously replaced the "Chiron" with "Omar" every time I heard it, and pretended I was watching a prequel to The Wire. It works.

I'm watching Breaking Bad. I just got to the part where Walt has a beer with Jessie's girlfriend's dad and he gives him the advice about not giving up on family. This inspires Walt to return to Jessie's place where he finds them both KOed on drugs. He accidentally rolls his girlfriend onto her back while trying to wake him up and she starts to choke. You see Walt initially reflexively go to help her, but then he reconsiders and just stands there and watches her die because she had been blackmailing him and trying to take Jessie away. I fucking love how this series of events unfolded. The juxtaposition between the good and the evil is great and I love seeing Walt descend farther and farther into the depths of hell with each episode.

Every actor in that show just fucking delivers, and I'm sure most of the credit goes to Vince Gilligan.

I just finished binging the last two seasons of Bates Motel to catch the final season live, but I have to say season 4 was a disappointment. season 3 was pretty fantastic all around, but with season 4 Norma seemed to be making some real progress with herself and with her relationship to Norman finally having him committed. but then she just kind of changes her mind and goes right back to full on denial and believing Norman over everyone else. it didn't really make sense or flow well for me. then him finally killing her felt really anti-climactic, I was sure he'd end up violently killing her in a rage brought on by her "leaving" him for the sheriff, but nope. just felt kinda lame.

anyway, I have the first three eps of season 5 downloading now, hopefully their Psycho adaptation makes up for it.

>Big Little Lies episode 3 - Living the Dream

This was a really strong episode especially the scenes of Celeste and Perry's therapy session and Jane telling Madeline about her rape. The acting has been great as well with the three leads especially Nicole Kidman. I like its format and the police interviews help give the events going on perspective on each of the show's characters. There are some first world problems addressed on the show but universal problems like domestic violence for example are handled really well and probably better than how most other shows would handle it. It'll probably garner plenty of Emmy and Golden Globe nominations.

>Bob's Burgers s07e11 - A Few 'Gurt Men

This was a fun episode seeing the kids be part of the mock trial and Bob and Linda with Jimmy, Teddy and Mort trying to catch the scammer. My favorite part was when Gene was acting like one of those southern gentleman lawyers.

>The Last Man on Earth s03e10 - Got Milk?

I was surprised to see how the midseason premiere turned out showing what happened before the virus outbreak (lol'd at Trump's administration dying) and from the different perspective from a different character, which ended up being the one with the drone. It was actually one of the show's darkest episodes but I think given the show's premise, it needed that. Plus Kristen Wiig is a great addition to the show's cast.

Still gotta catch up on Bates Motel and will bump the show thread when I do.

Saw Finding Dory on netflix so I watched about half of it last night before bed, I didn't catch it when it was in theaters. Get it? "catch". because they're fucking fish
Anyways it seems decent, although Dory's memory schtick got old after the first 20 minutes and it already isnt as memorable as the first. A lot of good VAs and i'm glad they were able to get most of the main cast back together except for the obvious like Nemo because hes aged and sounds different. With pixar movies it seems like the VAs are always dedicated to giving a good performance even if they are regularly live action actors, I was surprised to hear Idris Elba playing a walrus and he was pretty funny.
One negative I can say so far though is the pacing in the first act is awful. First ten minutes Dory and the gang are like alright lets go we need to find my parents, ten minutes later they're in california. Felt so rushed.

Watched a movie called Centurion, it was pretty decent. It's got a bunch of good actors in it who I recognized from other roles (McNulty from The Wire, Proctor from Banshee, Ser Davos from GoT, the main kid in The Night Of) and it's lead by Fassbender. If you can stomach some bad writing and cheesy effects it's not a terrible watch. maybe a 6/10? who knows

BWB The Loud House

Been watching this cartoon recently. I really like it! I read that it was a Sunday funnies panel first that became a show, which is awesome. I love when good print cartoonists get to get shows. Not only that, but a cartoonist from local to me Royal Oak, Michigan (also the home of Bruce Campbell).

The concept is simple enough and they deliver some really good characters with it. I love Luna, Lucy, Lori, and Lincoln. Lincoln reminds me of Charlie Brown or something. The whole show seems to have an auburn feel to it like Royal Oak has, and also along with the Charlie Brown thing, it has a sorta Charles Schulz Peanuts vibe, but with a more modern tone. Seemed almost like it took place in the 70's until I saw cell phones and computers.

The humor is pretty good and actually slips in a few pretty adult jokes.

I really like it, good to see Nick and CN are still making good cartoons, even Disney too with Gravity Falls.

>Man Seeking Woman s03e09 & 10 - Cake & Blood

These final two episodes of the season really does encapsulate how much this show had tremendously improved with the addition of Lucy to the show as well as the culmination of her and Josh's love and getting married by season's end. The show's humor is really on point being able to come up some really hilariously surreal analogies to love and relationships. I think it works well as a series finale if it doesn't get renewed but if it does, I'm looking forward to seeing where the show goes from here.

>This Is Us s01e17 - What Now?

A fine penultimate episode before the season finale but obvious filler in between a really strong episode and what should be a very emotional finale. Those feels when Randall comforted Kate after Beth gave William's toast and told her about his dream. At least the show did have the dignity to have Jack turn down Heather instead of the cliche guy gets drunk and cheats on his wife cliche. I also think that Kevin's whole deal with the play and coming to New York to get back with Sophie just doesn't feel earned and for him to put on a successful play and then have Ron Howard call him (with no disregard for Sloane's feelings after bailing on opening night) is just bullshit. Also if they're really gonna drag out Jack's death to season 2, it better be worth it.

>The Path s02e08 - The Return

It was an okay episode, probably the weakest episode of the season so far in my opinion. I don't really know what to make of Eddie's vision of the garden and suddenly realizing he needs to help the movement and Cal's trip to LA to get Rebecca's daughter to join the movement to get the money to help save them from foreclosure. I did like Sarah talking with Brenda and finding out that Steve abused Cal and then using the unburdening tapes to blackmail people into perhaps giving them money. And Hawk's character development this season has been really good and the actor that plays him has really come into his own.

The finale is awesome and worth watching. I enjoyed the whole Where The Wild Things Are spoof.

>Big Little Lies episode 4 - Push Comes to Shove

You guys are really sleeping on this miniseries. Fantastic acting performances and the soundtrack is awesome too. The subject matter itself is dark but its approach is handled in very much a realistic yet honest way like Perry and Celeste's abusive marriage, Jane dealing with being raped and her son's reputation being dragged through the mud, and Madeline having an affair and still being hung up on her ex. All on top of a murder mystery, which aside from the police interviews, it's not the main focus here.

>American Crime s03e01

I watched the season premiere on Sunday and I like how this season has a larger focus and scope than in the previous two seasons, which focused on one particular crime but this season is about modern-day slavery like forced labor, forced servitude and sex trafficking and already the premiere laid the groundwork for what really could be an emotional yet very topical season given the recent immigration ban. It's just so fucked up seeing that girl and that Mexican live in squalor and not really having a choice but to do the work for little pay.

Am planning on watching season 2 next weekend with my friend but it's a decent show and it does fill the void of Togetherness not being on anymore for me given their similarities though Gus and Mickey are younger and dating whereas on Togetherness Brett and Michelle are already married with two kids.

I'd hardly compare it to Game of Thrones. It's like a short-form Desperate Housewives but with much better writing and acting and it executes it so well.

It used to be glorious, but I get why Howard changed it. For a spell, it was becoming better than the Stern show because it became where all the side-cast went to make big revelations. Now the main show cut back on celeb guests and does a lot more staff bits again. Wrap Up sucks dicks these days though, I only rarely listen to it, while back in the day it was mandatory listening.

I started watching through Parks and Rec again and am about halfway through the 3rd season. It's one of my favorite shows, but I haven't watched it beginning to end since it was airing. There's already been moments where I've teared up a bit, so I can tell the finale is gonna melt me into a puddle again.

It's cool seeing throwaway shit as early as season 2 that end up being plot points in later seasons. Examples: When Leslie's on a date with Will Arnett, he says she can do triplets right off the bat when giving her a cat scan. Tom mentions wanting to open Tom's Bistro as one of his plethora of entrepreneur ideas

I'm constantly being reminded of why it's one of my favorite shows. There's just so much heart to it.

Watched Resident Evil : The Final Chapter. It was.. okay? felt like they set it up for another sequel, But it was really nice having them revisit the first movie to a certain degree, actually i wouldve preferred them to visit it a little bit more? i guess im just one of those nostaglia people. But yeah, kind of predictible in places, kinda "never seen that coming" in other places, It was alright. not great, not bad, but it was a pretty alright film. Like i didnt see the game of thrones dude clone killing the original guy and i honestly didnt see that guy to be the spy either. Kinda got a vibe that the old lady was the little girl and also got the vibe that alice was the little girl too, i kind of wish she died at the end... i dunno.

I'm 4 episodes deep. It's a pretty good show, but the opening episodes are pretty slow and the actors who play the Michum siblings aren't that good. Pretty stiff at times. And they don't completely shy away from the mystic stuff, they're just sorta sticking it in the back seat right now. Perhaps a new director will explore it more in season 2.

But critics imo have overstated the shows faults. It's not bad, if you like the other 3 shows. I'm hype for Defenders.

im on episode 4 right now and just took a mini break.

it really does seem like the critic reviews that had early access had a axe to grind, or they just really didnt read much of iron fist anything save for free ecomics and marvel wiki or cartoons.

so far the flow of the show really reminds me of the oldschool incredible hulk tv show

he probably hasn't touched a woman in years due to fear of them being killed by aku once he finds out jack has a girlfriend. it's hard enough worrying about getting attacked by robot assassins every minute of the day without having someone else to protect as well. the thought of a woman who could defend herself may have overtooken his ability to be rational, and aku would likely know this from years of manipulating other humans. but he made it juuuust obvious enough to make it amusing for himself that jack still fell for it. that's my hypothesis anyways.

Same thing happened with Bloodline. Critics only got the first three episodes and based their opinions off those since it was slow to start like it seems with Iron Fist. I really haven't gotten into the Marvel Netflix shows but it wouldn't be a bad idea to get caught up before The Defenders.

I'm enjoying Iron Fist way more than I expected. Is anyone else finding it kind of hilarious, the idea that a guy spent years in a mystical city becoming a super-powerful martial arts master, only to go home and find that none of that means shit and his greatest weapon is white male privilege?

Just caught the first episode in the final season of Review with Forrest Macneil. This is one of my favorite shows, it sucks that it's ending but at least it gets an ending. First episode was absolutely everything I'd hoped it would be. Only 2 episodes left though, here's hoping they keep up the quality.

Steve Dildarian, the creator of The Life and Times of Tim, has a pilot on Amazon Prime right now called The New V.I.Ps
I know a few people on this board loved the 3 seasons of Tim so I was just giving a heads up, I'm going to watch it right now.
I'm not entirely sure if you even need prime to watch it, I logged in with a non-prime account and there was an option to watch it for free
Looks like the animation is similar to Tim but also better and the cast seems pretty good

I watched The Fly (1986) for the first time last night. Everyone hypes it as scary, but I thought it was fucking hilarious. Jeff "retard" Goldblum gets drunk and fuses himself with a fly, then knocks some bitch up with his fly baby. Hope she gets that abortion ASAP. Reminded me of that weird episode of Masters Of Horror called Sick Girl, I see now that it took inspiration from the Fly (fusing romantic comedy with body horror)

Catching up on this past week:

>Bob's Burgers s07e12 - Like Gene for Chocolate

Gene episodes don't fail to deliver and I thought this one was good especially that monologue about candy and trying to change back the formula was a good scene. The Bob and Teddy subplot trying to get the golf balls was goofy but Bob and Teddy's odd couple friendship is one of my favorite parts of the show.

>The Last Man on Earth s03e11 - The Spirit of St. Lewis

I was not ready for Lewis dying in a fiery plane crash. The show's dark comedy is on point though like the funeral scene afterward. And Melissa is still acting crazy, which honestly has made her character much three dimensional and not as unlikeable. And Gail is alive! Can't wait to see how she comes back.

>Big Little Lies episode 4 & 5 - Push Comes to Shove & Once Bitten

They keep upping the intensity here and shit is getting real like that car accident Madeline was involved with, Celeste's therapy session and unburdening herself about being abused and her therapist picking up on it, Jane confronting the man who could be Ziggy's father and so forth. At first I wasn't sure if I was gonna like it after the first episode but it sucked me into the mystery and the drama. These last two episodes are shaping up to be big given what it's leading up to.

>This Is Us s01e18 - Moonshadow

I know people were criticizing the season finale but I really liked it for how it not only showed Jack and Rebecca's relationship in the aftermath of Jack coming to Rebecca's gig and punching out Bruce but also leading up to how they first met. I do wish we had seen more of Kevin, Kate ad Randall in the present but it was what it was. I know they said that they weren't going to show Jack's death until the middle of next season, possibly as its midseason finale, but I'm interested to see how they explain it.

There's a ton of shows from last night I gotta catch up on in Bob's Burgers, TLMOE, The Walking Dead, Into the Badlands, Feud and American Crime. Though first I have to catch up on Humans and Taboo this week along with last week's Legion and The Expanse.

The bit I liked the most was from the second special when he's talking about his kid and his school. Like it was 43 year old Dave Chappelle talking about shit 43 year old Dave Chappelle goes through. Not 43 year old, married Dave Chappelle talking about how he still tries to crush pussy

Watched the latest episodes of The Last Man on Earth and The Path. Don't really have much to say about them right now.

Also I saw Beauty and the Beast tonight. I enjoyed the musical numbers and despite the differences in this film and the animated film, which my friend was unhappy with and ended up not liking the film, we did both admit Dan Stevens did a good job as the Beast. I bet it was another one of David's hallucinations.

Emma Watson wasn't bad as Belle though I don't really know who would have been better in the role but I didn't mind it. But man the chemistry between Gaston and LeFou was one of my favorite parts and the whole stuff about LeFou being gay is really blown out of proportion.

Man that sucks. Damn good show but the ending was really well done. I do find it unfortunate that Cinemax wants to stick to internationally co-produced action shows bscause that and Quarry are really high quality shows even if they're not like Banshee.

I'm pretty sure they're in their early 30s. It's the same thing with You're the Worst except the characters and writing is much better on there than on Love. I finished the season last night and while I thought it was an improvement from last season, I think that it's hard for me to sympathize with Gus and Mickey. I mean they both have their issues especially her with alcoholism and him trying to deal with it but I don't feel like their relationship has really been built up in the way that it makes it feel earned and after all the stuff that happened between Mickey and Dustin. That dude is a creep btw.

Yeah I gotta catch up too. I'm gonna miss Norman being a weirdo yet somehow being able to hook up with different girls.

I liked it but it did run out of steam towards the end. It's an interesting concept but I'll admit some of the stuff on there is a bit over the top to be taken seriously.

Not sure why all Netlix's Marvel shows are both decent enough to watch and boring enough to consider dropping after every episode. S1 of Daredevil was fine but not good enough to get into S2, dropped Jessica after like 6 episodes and never felt compelled to even try Luke Cage.

It's mostly much of the same with Iron Fist through the first five or so episodes until they completely flip the script and make things interesting. Just finished episode 9 and I'm actually interested to see how it all plays out. That mostly speaks to the story as the acting from everyone involved fluctuates between stiff and over dramatic and what should be the main calling card of the series, the fight scenes, are also oddly stiff as well. There are a bunch of little errors that completely take away from the flow of the fights at times and make you keenly aware that you're watching a show instead of immersing you in an awesome fight. A couple of them were good (the drunken door guard among a few others) but they should have put more work into making the fights authentic, they often feel a bit cheesy.

6/10 so far, it isn't crap but it could be better. Hopefully the last 4 episodes are interesting. Again though the 5+ hour set up is a bit much, I can't really recommend it to binge which is unfortunate.

man you weren't kidding. Might be one of the dumbest shows I've ever seen masquerading as something like The Leftovers.
Like it starts as a somewhat interesting concept, everyone imagines what death and the afterlife is like at some point but then we have 7 episodes of 5 people in a fish tank nonsense and THEN starts the retarded "movements". You know maybe the dances would be less stupid looking if it werent for the hissing and grunting, still stupid, just less stupid. I can't imagine the director seeing those dances and thinking "oh yeah this will look mysterious and interesting lets keep it" jesus christ. And that ending? holy fucking hell. You stop a school shooting with dancing and hand movements? And the "twist"? I can't even. Theres two ways that could go
  1. She actually is an "angel" and the books were just a coincidence which makes the dancing and captivity and the 5 being angels even more retarded, because thats just a plain stupid concept
  2. Its all in her head, shes out of her damn mind, and getting shot during the school shooting was just a coincidence, her running to the school was a coincidence, and her gaining her eyesight was just....????
Now if there was one thing I could say I actually liked about this show was that OA's storytime brought together these people that would never hang out in the first place, theres a warm feeling there and it did that well. I also liked Hap. Very interesting "villain" if you can call him that with unique motives, Jason Isaacs did great. Can't really say I liked any of the other characters. Steve was alright and more fleshed out than the others of the storytime group besides OA, a lot of the characters in this show were one note and can be described in one short sentence.
It looks like its getting a second season and I really doubt I'll watch it unless it gets some good reviews and sorts out the bullshit that the first season presented

I think it was to let people know this wouldn;t be a shot-for shot remake of the old IT movie. We thought we knew what to expect and that let us know not to get too comfortable. They also showed some scenes that were in the book and the original film never showed. Looks like they are cutting the adults out, or way down, to have all the kids scenes from the book. Which begs the question, will it include BOOK the part where all the boys run train on the girl in the sewer?

Also that scene you were talking about, i would guess they won't put it in as it would be pretty much the last thing everyone sees before they leave the cinema

Yeesh the ending to Iron Fist was bad. All of these Marvel Netlix shows are so mediocre they're basically not worth watching. Think I'm done with them.

On to Legion now that it's all aired, hope it's as cool as the thread made it seem from an outsider looking in.

Writing a review for it tomorrow, but lemme just say I didn't hate it as much as I thought I would, and also fuck that "whitewashing" bullshit. That shit is so stupid, it was an adaptation for an American audience, who gives a fucking shit if she isn't Chinganese.

I think the movie got more right than it did wrong and a lot of people seem to be ignoring that.

I can understand anime fans having knee-jerk negative reactions to any adaptions though. I think adapting an anime into a live action film is an extremely difficult task but this movie seemed to do a decent job.

And it's exposing "modern audiences" to great anime, so it's also hard to hate it in that sense.

Who knows, maybe it'll rejuvenate anime. Or maybe it'll encourage Hollywood to pump out more soulless cash-grabs.

No one tell Hollywood about DBZ, they could stretch the Goku and Frieza shit into 20 movies and get away with it.

I agree that he's a ginormous faggot, and I hate to side with him, but I honestly don't care about whitewashing. I'm white, and I wouldn't really care either way if they stayed true to the japanese culture, but that's what happens when adaptations are made in a different place. They ADAPT it for the place they're selling it. It's not that complicated, and it's nothing to get upset over. If you want a true to the original culture adaptation, you'll have to wait for a japanese producer to make it.

Except this is false, non-Americans don't care as much compared to SJW Americans who scream for diversity in every movie. For example Chinese audiences actually prefer more western actors in their movies than Chinese. lol Only white people complain the most about whitewashing since it coincides with white guilt. Otherwise art is art, it can be interpreted however the director please and if you don't like it then don't spend money on it. Simple.

I was watching someone's review that brought up a good point. So many movies have taken inspiration from GitS that an actual adaptation seems pointless, not saying it can't still be a fun movie or anything. I do really like the visuals, a lot of Hollywood Sci Fi these days seem to have a hard on for the "I-future", where everything is white and sleek. Nice to see some color... speaking of which (different kind of color)

The WhiteWashing thing.... Correct me if I'm wrong but is the Majors race not COMPLETELY irrelevant to the story? Seems like people just quick to critisize it while little about the franchise. Unless there's something I'm missing here, I haven't seen / read all GiTS.

Apparently not so much that they didn't try to make Scarlett look Asian and then scrap the idea and give her a non-Japanese name when it looked as terrible as it sounds, holy shit lol.

>Lola VFX, the company behind the character-aging effects in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008), was commissioned to manage tests on visual effects to make white actors look Asian, though the results were reportedly rejected immediately upon their review.

>Big Little Lies episodes 6 & 7 - Burning Love & You Get What You Need

Holy shit those last two episodes were intense. That scene when Perry told Celeste "her property manager called" gave me goosebumps. Seriously their whole relationship was messed up but I felt that the show did an incredible job of how it handled domestic violence especially those therapy scenes. I'm conflicted about the ending and how different it was from the book not really knowing that Bonnie's motivation for pushing Perry was because of her own abusive past but they wanted to keep the mystery of the murder. Same with the name Saxon Banks being the name of Perry's cousin. I did think the show changing the circumstances of how Perry died and Jane recognizing him as the one who raped her was more nuanced and didn't need dialogue to show the reaction to Jane's realization.

I do feel like maybe it could have used one more episode but still, it was a very good miniseries and one of the best so far this year. Definitely worth a watch.

Currently rewatching Ash Vs Evil Dead as well as Seinfeld for the first time. AVE is a great binge especially since I've seen it before and don't really pay that much attention to it.
Seinfeld is actually amazing and even better when your high. I can't believe it took me so long to watch it. I actually can see how much it influenced new sitcoms.

I also just finished watching Bolivia (2001) for a class. And holy shit I don't know about the rest of it but all the Argentine films we've watched have pretty much been fucking depressing. Bolivia is alright it seems more like a student film as there's a lot more they could have done with it.

Decent ender. I feel like it set up the war pretty well, but there wasn't anything that has super excited for the next season. It was missing something hype and worth talking about till the next season. Glad my homeboy Jerry is still alive tho.

Maybe it was because I was drunk when I watched it, but this episode hit me hard. I loved Bea as a character and I was in tears when she died last season. I feel like this season's going to be incredible. So much stuff has been set up with last season's finale and this first episode. Frankie back in prison was a bit predictable but it should be good to see how she fares against both Kaz and Ferguson.

caught Song to Song in a theater today. given the reviews I wasn't expecting much, and it's Malick as fuck, but I ended up liking it more than both Knight of Cups (which I still haven't finished tbh) and To the Wonder. It's so poetic and beautiful, and not just visually. it really connected with me in a way I can't fully describe, and in a way even his other movies haven't. so far all of his movies have made cry or at least tear up at some point (except Knight of Cups) but for this one it didn't happen until I was driving home and started really processing the experience, it was almost overwhelming emotionally. but it's not something i'd recommend exactly, most people would find it boring (it was only two and a half hours but felt much longer) and three people walked out lol. definitely see this if you're a fan of slower, personal, experimental stuff though. also Natalie Portman's character did shrooms dipped in honey, wish I'd thought of that back when I still did that shit.

agreed, people hate on Fire Walk With Me but it's such a fucked up surreal nightmare in the best way, and adds a lot to rewatches of the show.

>Brockmire s01e01 & 2 - Rally Cap & Winning Streak

Watched the first two episodes of IFC's new comedy Brockmire, which is based on a character Hank Azaria played on a sketch for Funny or Die:

>Jim Brockmire (Hank Azaria) is a famed major league baseball announcer who suffers an embarrassing and very public meltdown live on the air after discovering his beloved wife’s serial infidelity. A decade later, Brockmire decides to reclaim his career and love life in a small American rust belt town that has seen better days, calling minor league baseball games for the Morristown Frackers. The struggling team is led by Jules (Amanda Peet), the strong-willed, hard-drinking owner and Charles (Tyrel Jackson Williams), the naïve but enthusiastic team intern.

I thought it was pretty good and the show is like Eastbound and Down in following a washed-up former baseball person trying to make a comeback and part Bull Durham and Major League given that it's based around a minor league team and a baseball owner trying to boost attendance through creative means. Azaria absolutely knocks it out of the park and plays Brockmire so well from his mannerisms to his announcing voice and Amanda Peet is also a good opposite lead. It already got renewed for a second season. What did you guys think?

Really solid kids fantasy. Turns out Korean anime is called "Aeni". Some parts didn't make much sense, and I feel like the film was initially a lot longer because there's some jumpy editing and I got the feeling some parts weren't fully explained.

It was still excellent though. There's a really interesting contrast to the normality of the summer camp and the fantasy of the spirit realm and alien stuff[/%}. Some of the designs are phenomenal.

>Howard Stern Show

I know people always write Howard claiming crazy shit happened from them listening, like they say they laughed so hard they crashed their car or some shit. Well, SHuli talking abouthis vesectomy and then talking about how coughing tore his balls and made him piss blood, I fucking literally fainted. While he talked about the vasectomy, I felt myself feeling sick and having flashbacks to the time I watched a live birth from a mere foot away. Then when he started talking about his cough and feeling a tear down under, I felt my head start swimming. I got disoriented and thought 'i shouldnt have drank/smoked so much' only to remember I was dead sober. I tried to stumble to my bed and collapsed before I made it. Woke up in a cold sweat with Shuli still fucking talking about his bloody dick. Fuck this show, enough with the gross genital stories.

Man that scene of Brockmire insinuating that Charles was gay was some funny ass shit. Even when he was trying to stall the court for time with his history lecture was good too. Like Hank Azaria has the whole cadence and demeanor for being a washed up baseball announcer down to a T.

I just finished watching Rogue One finally. I thought overall it was pretty damn good.
I just wish they would have left Darth Vader out completely. It was off putting when you see him and he didn't have any reason to be in the film except for Disney feeling the need to put him in there. It was so obvious and inauthentic.
Besides that, it was really good though I'd have to say.
The way that they were more in with the average soldiers in the war, instead of being with the prodigal son and super hero jedis, I thought was cool. But of course they had to throw Darth Vader in there for fan service. If they made more movies like this, I would be quite happy.

Entertaining from time to time and great actors, but man, what a shit show. Especially the final season, so many asspulls and obvious plot devices that I lost count. That whole episode of Animals was surreal like that BAN episode of Atlanta and they had some good guest stars on there too. That whole scene Dan and Dino as the ad men and Judy Greer yelling at them like her character on Archer was my favorite part of the episode.

>Into the Badlands s02e05 - Monkey Leaps Through Mist

While I don't think the dialogue is all that great and the characters are that fleshed out yet, I am liking the story development and the fight scenes so far this season. Sunny taking on all of Naz's guys was pretty awesome especially once that sword came into play. Also Quinn hallucinating Ryder is definitely gonna play in his mental state trying to take control of the Badlands, I mean shit Veil just escaped so that's gotta make things worse. I am surprised The Widow decided to try and form an alliance with him but I suppose after what happened at the conclave, she figured that the enemy of my enemies is my friend. Not really feeling MK's story though, doesn't interest me that much

That was a good episode. Holt and Charles going back and forth about the eyebrows was pretty funny. I also did like seeing Dr. Brown from Vice Principals guest star as Terry's ex.

The chick who plays Meg in this show is really bad, and entirely unconvincing as a ruthless violent cult leader. her acting is just seemingly half-hearted and comes off as really inauthentic. Also, all of her character's motivations seem to not make sense which also makes her come off inauthentic. The rest of the show is pretty good even though at times seems made up for no reason at all. Like I get that it's out there, but sometimes it doesn't seem like it's out there in creative ways. It's just out there to be out there. I could handle that if Meg wasn't so poorly done.

>Brockmire s01e04 - Retaliation

Man Hank Azaria is just killing it in this role. I got a kick out of him inciting a basebrawl and Charles getting freaked out and having to put on that batting helmet. And I'm pretty sure Brockmire's ex-wife is the actress that plays Kevin's wife on Bloodline. She really is a kink.

>Into the Badlands s02e06 - Leopard Stalks in Snow

This episode ruled. I thought it was a strong showing from a storyline standpoint like those scenes with Tilda and MK talking about their struggles, Tilda with The Widow's husband abusing her and MK telling Eva about his vision in the mirror chamber. Really thought it showed the emotional sides of both characters. Plus seeing how The Widow using Veil as a pawn to form her alliance with Quinn is gonna have its consequences especially as it pertains to Tilda perhaps questioning her own loyalty to her mother. The fight scene in this episode was awesome and Sunny slicing off Baije's brother head in two was sick! Dope shit right there. Safe to say this show has the best fight choreography out of any show as far as I can tell. Also it not only got renewed for a 3rd season but for 16 episodes. Given its strong ratings, AMC has a lot of faith in the show.

You know as happy as I am my boy Ross Butler has a starring role on the show, I feel that 13 Reasons Why romanticizes suicide like "you'll see what happens when I'm gone" and making it this elaborate thing of it having this beyond the grave trope using those tapes to tell the story, which isn't really anything new cause Bloodline did that shit last season. Will this show give people the courage to tell their parents or a hotline that they want to do it? Yes I think it will but at the same time I can see some people that do want to kill themselves and try to copy that. Even one of my friends who had tried to kill herself felt that it was too real especially since they actually show her kill herself on camera not to mention that so many people are sympathetic to a fictional character but offer no sympathy or help toward actual survivors of suicide. It's complicated but that's just television and stuff like that is gonna be dramatized for emotional effect.

I kinda felt that way in season 1 about Meg considering why she initially joined the Guilty Remnant but my opinion about her changed in season 2 and I'm sure once you watch it you'll see that too.

Won't be in the summer as that's when Ballers and Insecure premiere. Probably later this fall or winter.

I'm gonna fuck this baby up! It was cute seeing the baby come out looking like Sting though. Also the bees subplot was great like when they were trying to show each other their stingers and deciding to kill themselves stinging that guy who killed their tulip.

I was really surprised by how good the film was and James McAvoy playing all those different personalities was impressive as fuck like Tatiana Maslany impressive. Can't wait for that Mr. Glass-Beast showdown.

I like the direction they've taken the series considering that there's a ceiling for how much you can do with street racing. The last three films have been good and Dwayne Johnson is a great addition to the series. I haven't seen Fate of the Furious yet but I am going to in a few weeks. They sure did make a killing at the box office breaking all sorts of records especially in China, which really helped it since the domestic box office was lower.

Never say never. I'm already planning on rewatching John From Cincinnati this summer since it's been 10 years since it aired but maybe I can fit it in between all my other current shows and wrestling.

>The Last Man on Earth s03e15 - Name 20 Picnics... Now!

It was a good episode for Todd and Tandy's rivalry over Melissa and Jasper including the scene where the episode's title comes from but it was a nice ending seeing Melissa and Jasper having fun together in the police car. It's an underrated comedy and I wish more people had stuck with it after season 1.

>Brooklyn Nine-Nine s04e15 - The Last Ride

Gina be pranking people with cement in their coffee. Also Jake and Charles' subplot was the best and their bromance is really the heart of the show. Jake's whole Tyler Omaha character was a hilarious stereotypical extreme sports athlete persona.

>Brockmire s01e05 - Breakout Year

Another great episode and I think it's already become one of my favorite new comedies this year. I couldn't get enough of Brockmire's attempts to understand his internet popularity and that monologue in the bar. I hope it gets Hank Azaria an Emmy nomination at least.

I was already familiar with Robert Hanssen and his story but I thought Chris Cooper did a tremendous job in portraying him. Now I can't really say the same about Ryan Phillippe portraying Eric O'Neill but it was one of his better roles but aside from that, overall I thought it was a good thriller. My parents had already seen the film a couple times so they both had their favorite lines and everything while it was my first time watching. I have it on DVD so I watched the deleted scenes and some of them were humorous though not really advancing the plot.

>Animals s02e07 - Cats Part 1

The whole mafia film spoof and just seeing Phil's transformation Michael Corleone style is cool. I also thought the montage Big Pussy made and Chuckles' death were pretty funny. Can't wait to see Part 2 considering how good last season's 2 parter was. And I'd hate to be the owl getting that shitty gift.

>Bob's Burgers s07e19 - Thelma & Louise Except Thelma Is Linda

Decent episode. Wouldn't say it was a funny episode but Teddy trying to help Bob with serving customers was the highlight for me.

>The Last Man on Earth s03e16 - The Big Day

I was surprised by the 6 month time jump but it worked out fine. I couldn't stop laughing at Tandy's demonstrations to prove to Gail he can deliver Carol's child. Looks like he's gotta more than what he bargained for with Erica's water breaking to end the episode.

>Banshee season 4 is shit
Ugh, too bad I didn't see this until after I'd started watching it.
>Tagline for the season is "It could only end one way" or something like that.
>The season ends with all the good guys still alive and happy.
What the actual fuck?

>Brockmire s01e05 - Breakout Year
I would listen the fuck out of Brockmire's podcast. Hear the fuck out of it? Whatever. That ending was great, too.

>Kanuk the hunter
>Season 2 episode 2
This show is fucking great. It's really great if you know film history and all that stuff. I loved in Kanuk The manager just being a thug and Kanuk developing all these film techniques. and them getting thrown out Just fucking great. Then in episode 2 That slow burn to the last joke. OMG. Fred Armisen always seems to strike a chord with me. It's also amazing how great him and Bill Hader are together.

started watching Dear White People and ended up finishing the whole season that same day. I was really surprised, it's easy to get into and binges extremely well. if only The Walking Dead could do their character specific episodes this well.

>mfw it's actually a good show

Wow I knew it was going to be bad but cmon that was fucking trash
Completely devoid of anything and everything thought provoking the original presented, and just plain awkward most of the time.
They didn't even bother to use the original soundtrack that was so haunting and amazing and then use it as the fucking end credits music? Fuck you hollywood
Even when they tried to emulate certain scenes they come out feeling dead. This movie did everything wrong

Gonna watch Get Out now and hope that washes the taste of shit out of my mouth

I thought her acting was so terrible, like she was trying very hard to look and act badass the entire time. Also anything thought provoking was just a dumbed down statement spoken outright. It was a very bad movie but hopefully it has gotten some people to check out the source material because it is a pretty visually stunning movie.

Her acting WAS terrible, she did this forward shoulder walk thing the entire movie that looked so stupid. Everything looked stupid. Batou's eyes, all the hologram shit, even the spider tank looked dumb as fuck.

I was conflicted on the acting because I feel she was trying to be robotic and that was done alright. However there was a problem where she didn't emote cause she's a robot and Batou doesn't cause he's a bad ass there's no people to really connect with or read. I think this can work alright in animation but in a live action movie it's pretty awful.

Lastly I agree with >>382396 It is a really good movie visually and I think it will have people looking at the original. It seems like they didn't get far enough away from the source material for everything to work out. They also didn't stay close enough for it to work out. In the end it seems like they should have caught this in the editing of the script.

Alright I watched Get Out and it was great, that movie is fuckin nuts with a lot of really well done scenes. I like how when Rosies dad is giving Chris the tour he says theres "BLACK mold" in the basement, its little things like that that put the icing on the cake. I thought it went a little overboard in the end though with the whole putting your brain in a black persons body thing but it still worked. I think my favorite scene was when Rosies mom was stealth hypnotizing chris. I really liked the effect they used to portray chris being unable to move and in the "dark space". Another really great scene was when chris just wants the keys and its revealed that Rosie is in on it too, very well done, extremely tense. I haven't seen allison williams in anything else but I thought she was great, especially at the end during the phone call with Rod where she SOUNDS distressed but is keeping a completely straight face
This movie did creepy so, so well

my standards are pretty low, and for me there was enough quotable dialogue in the film to sample.

visually amazing film , but for sure didnt do the source enough justice . although if i came into the film knowing nothing...id say its about up there with underworld and resident evil films for me...with gits being the better of the three

Watching IFC's fake Star Wars marathon, I forgot how much I love the Coneheads movie. It really has no right to being as funny and entertaining as it is but god damn it I'll never stop loving this movie.

OK so the conclusion to veep's season 6 was expected--not necessarily in a bad way.
But Selina's terribleness is beginning to be less funny and more irritating.
I think Catherine's neglect/abuse-joke was funny at first, but honestly without the development/back story, it's just a recurring joke that's starting to wear thin.
I'm not a fan of the Gary's romantic longing for Selina progression--it was more endearing when it seemed like it was just him taking his job too seriously. Amy was a little neglected this season when considering her introduction with her fiancee. Mike, and Jonah's two lackeys were pretty consistent
I understand they tried to show Selina's vulnerability with her breakdown and her breakup and try to make her more human and multi-dimensional, but it didn't work IMO, since it was all stuffed into the finale with no prior mention. It's a shame they didn't use those opportunities to explain/justify her personality and try to bring it full circle with the flashbacks but maybe that's just my over-sentimentality speaking.
I liked where they were going with Jonah, and he's probably the most interesting atm (though his antics may soon get old, e.g. the head bumping bit went on too long). I really hope they bring back Jonah's ex-fiancee Shawnee Tanz to also further complicate his life. Richard is probably my favourite character at the moment, but i really hope they develop him beyond his quirks.
