Because the central theme is about trying to find material meaning and direction in a seemingly immaterial, directionless world full of people who are all alone and shuffling through their existence like ghosts in a hallway, never touching.

The comic pulls the progressive hopelessness of the story better I thought.

Excellent movie. All the actors nail their roles & Birch and Buscemi have great chemistry together. I'm not going to argue with you if you say "the book was better", but this is as great an adaptation as one could hope for.

SG-1 S08E14

Feeling kinda enthralled at the current story arcs going on in the show. Also, the show is really cozy. It's basically at the peak of the show right now (late peak but great throughout) and it's really awesome being this far into the show and it still manages to top itself and add in great new characters. When I got into this show was after it aired, I wasn't expecting quality anywhere near what I got.

I'm watching One Mississippi.

I was wondering what Diablo Cody's been up to because the last thing I'd seen from her was Young Adult years ago, which I really liked. Turns out she's been writing this show with Tig Notaro.

It's really good. I've been watching Back (Mitchell and Webb) too lately. It really reminds me of that show in tone and theme, but more sentimental. Humor's still dark, and it's also about death and messy family stuff, but it usually ends on a genuine note. I like it.

I feel sentimental.

I really liked Back. I really like that they have Webb set up as the antagonist. They play really well against each other in that setup. My favorite one was the one where David Mitchell is convinced he's recovered a memory where he killed a kid. I was dying.

Just watching this One Mississippi thing and I went to look up Tig thingy, 5 hours ago she said that Louis CK being removed from her show was a huge relief but the whole vibe of the show is identical to everything he's done. Like the exact same tone of deadpan comedy.

Well it's pretty close to what she typically does as well. I guess she says that while he boosted her early on (and that it sounds like he made the show happen), that he didn't have any contact with the show. I was really curious about the order of events too, because in season 2 there's that scene with the producer/masturbator.

Near as I can tell:

>ck boosts her career, gets her a stand-up special and eventually the show
> per tig they fall out of direct communication
> season one gets made
> tig accuses ck of stealing a bit of hers for snl bit
> season two gets made
> tig says ck needs to "address rumors"
> season two airs including the episode under the spoiler
> a short bit later the Times article drops
> seems like they're yanking his name from the show

I liked how in season 1, the scouts/garrison leadership were cold and calculating, but intelligent.
In season 2, they just seemed idiotic.

They sent like 20 guys to find a breech on a 400 mile section of wall and only when they report there's no breech, another 20 or so come out to back them up, on a mission which should it fail, would require another famine-squad.

Also season 2 seemed really slow.

well, according to the teaser the studio released showing which comic volumes it's gonna cover, season 3 will will cover the uprising and retaking shiganshina arcs, as well as them seeing the ocean which implies they're gonna show the basement and what was in the basement, plus it airs next year instead of getting another massive break so I imagine that will be enough to keep people hyped while it's airing. though they could easily mess up the hype by taking a mid season break, I know I completely forgot about Americna Dad when it took a huge mid season break last season, and didn't realize it came back till the season ended. I hate that shit.

also season 4 nobody will care about quite as much cause it's gonna be slow as shit for however many episodes it takes to get to chapters 99 and 100 of the comics. I mean, it's interesting worldbuilding and all, but some people are gonna get impatient with it, especially after they already learned most of the series' secrets at the end of season 3 and just wanna see shit go down, though it eventually does after 8-10 chapters or so (idk how many episodes thats gonna be).

True Detective-Season 2 Finale

Pissed off...
He had it all set up, a brilliant plan. But Vicoro just fucking had to be a cliche retard and go stare at his redheaded stepchild kid. Even though that is SO FUCKING OBVIOUS that he'd get himself caught doing that. Seriously!?
And then Vince Vaughan gangster guy is apparently the most unobservant motherfucker ever. God damn. This show shows so much potential at times and then the next second it's just really fucking stupid shit.

The Foreigner

I liked this a lot. It was more like a 'real movie' with awesome jackie chan fighting to me than a typical jackie movie which was always tons of great action and funny but shitty story/dialogue. I knew with his age the action wouldn't be as non-stop but it's still the same crazy Jackie fighting that you are used to. I hope he keeps making movies like this.

Meanwhile Knightfall is so shitty that I don't even think it can maintain its camp appeal to me. It's like they put it on after just to show that Vikings is still good.
