Jack shit there isn't nothing good this season. I was trying there into Hoozuki no Reitetsu 2nd Season, since I really liked the first one 2 years ago. But I only saw the first three and just gave it up. This season sucks, but that's nothing new.

I just downloaded the BLAME movie and the first season of Blood Brigade Battlefront. BLAME looks pretty good, I hear it's not a direct adaption and mashes together a few arcs, but it's faithful to the spirit of the work. As long as Sanakan is in it I'll be happy. BBB I'm just checking out cause it's by the guy who did Trigun. God damn I wish they had adapted the full manga, all the cool fights happen right after where they went into filler. The puppet guy and the splitapart guy don't even do anything in the anime really, and they had the coolest bit in the whole comic.

Really digging the new shokugeki no soma season so far. At firstI thaught it was strange how they introduced a character so obviously evil, but then I realised they are doing the same thing like that movie "Die Welle" about how easily boring teenagers without self confidence or identitty will turn to fascism.
It's also great that we´ve gotten some more practical realisable recipies.

That´s the only current anime I´m following though, and I won´t ever admit to my friends I watch that pedo jap stuff. It seems like there´s hardly one or two good animes a year now. I am glad however, that the previous thread made me check out gintama; It´s like a more goofy version of cowboy bebop, but with ten times more episodes

Someone on the old thread asked me what other comedies I liked after talking about how much I liked Assassination Classroom after I finished it. Think he said he wanted to give some recommendations. So are there any comedy recommendations thatt you guys really suggest? I don't usually watch anime comedies, but I have seen a few.

I've seen probably more than this, but these are some I liked:

Assassination Classroom
Konosuba
Seen some Gintama and liked that

Those are mostly the ones I think of that have comedy as a main focus. I've seen some shows that focus more on other genres that have some good comedy, but I think that's a separate sort of thing.

I have few on my plan-to-watch on MAL, but I never really pick to watch them because I usually look for something more akin to stuff I've liked recently or similar to my all-time favorites.

But if someone suggest a comedy I think I might be interested in I'll probably check it out. I'm always looking for something new to watch.

Is there classic anime that people like?

I mean like when I think of anime people liked 20 years ago it's like Vampire Hunter D and Ninja Scroll and that's cause those were the only things you could get on American VHS that wasn't total shit licensed cheap to take advantage of content starved weebs.

Also does anyone remember movie where it's post apocalyptic cause the majority of the population reverted into acting like savage cavemen? It's also possible that's no the plot at all the film outside of the particular dub I happened to see.

there's plenty of classic anime that people like, for many people some of their all-time favorite are old school anime. Whether it's cause you grew up with it, love that classic feel, or just love the show.

I'm not sure about the movie you're talking about. Kind of a vague description, but I get it might be tough to remember. I can think of a few sort of post-apocalyptic movies, but they're mostly sci-fi sort of anime and don't really fit that description.

damn.
How far back does it have to be to be considered "classic"? Hokuto no Ken, Ranma 1/2, My Neighbor Totoro, etc all go back further than 20 years.

20 years ago, I was watching Ronin Warriors, Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z, cause that's what was on Saturday mornings or whatever.

In his own stoic way, yes, he actually makes an attempt, even if it is a sad attempt, to be a role model to Trunks, future trunks and Cabba. He even decides to not fight in tournament of power because he was waiting for Bra to be born, but luckily Whis has magic C section powers or whatever, so he was able to make it. All the while, Goku is like "I wasn't around when my kids were born, lol".

Continuing Bakemonogatari
I'm glad this series has many seasons and arcs because i'm pretty hooked, this show manages to be interesting and eye pleasing even when the episode is just two characters having a conversation on a bench at the park. I just started the Nadeko Snake arc.
Theres something off about that Hanekawa bitch she really rubs me the wrong way, I like kanbaru though shes adorable
Its pretty impressive how theres been 4 dfiferent OPs so far over the span of 9 episodes, hachikuji's OP felt like a fucking fever dream. They're all pretty good OPs too it takes some dedication to animate different OPs for different arcs
And as much as I love the animation and stylistic choices I still can't get over those ridiculous SHAFT head tilts and leans

Lol it was a pure shot in the dark guess.

For me it would have to be the genres of cyberpunk, thrillers, demons, ninjas ,sci-fi, space opera, around the 1980 -1995 era that does it for me. A lot of the great classics and hidden gems tended to me ova's with no manga counterparts.

That's not to say there weren't good episodic shows though, to me it seems like the rise of cookie cutter in anime really took off around 85 along with the toy and hobbies markets.

That's a hard one. The movies have better pacing but the tv show has added stuff plus a major change from Resurrection of F. Maybe watch Battle of the Gods only. It doesn't really make much difference though as Super excels in the Tournaments so the Tournaments are the only essential parts.

if you liked the first one ,i'd say no not really unless you want more of the world building and to see what happens to the characters after the first Shingeki no Bahamut.

not gonna lie ..i watched virgin soul all the way through as it aired. it really doesnt compare to Shingeki no Bahamut as far as the main character just all around being insufferable even until the last episode.
animation is still solid.

its basically pretty in pink meets D&D , with the good shit happening near the end.

Those questions you're asking are the reason why I stopped right after Boruto: Naruto the Movie. I couldn't tell whether or not the new series was filler. Plus I don't think any of the characters are interesting enough to invest my time in this next-gen series. Boruto is a whiny, arrogant, brat.

kishimoto wrote the movie, and did the first chapter and outlined the idea of the series. but one of his assistants is the one who ultimately draws and writes the series form chapter 2 onward. I'm not sure what of the anime is filler and what isn't, or if it has caught up to the manga yet. I'm almost tempted to watch/read it just to see what the hell was going on in that first flashforward bit of the initial kishimoto chapter, but I bet that's a long ways from now.

oh also the arc where they fight the guy with sharingans all over him like danzo is based on a single volume story kishimoto did draw and write the entirety of, so that's for sure not filler. also I hear they're gonna adapt this one shot about orochimaru's kid, which kishimoto is also responsible for. other than that, it's all that new guy going off guidelines that I'm gonna guess were pretty vague.

I'm gonna miss ponytail Karen it was such a good look but the scene where she cuts it off was pretty hilarious. Hanekawa is the opposite, the haircut really did her design wonders. There was a disappointing lack of Senjougahara and I really wish we saw Shinobu's side of the fight in the final episode but the season was still great. My favorite scenes will always be the ones with Hachikuji because the banter is just too good

I read wiki descriptions of Boruto episodes, and the plots sounded like some new shit, not the Boruto movie or either of those manga that Kishi write. It sounded like brand new plots, I just couldn't tell if the plot was filler or not. I have not read the new manga so not sure if it's supposed to be something from that.

they definitely shortened the final episode, and that final arc was already rushed in the manga, but overall I'm very content with this series. They captured the emotional scenes of the series so god damn well. And unlike Gantz this had a satisfying ending instead of just going "okay fights over everybody go home", which he easily could have done with this series too. He's got some new series starting soon too but I think Inuyashiki is gonna remain the peak of his storytelling ability.

>>392198
lame, I figured they would learn their lesson after old naruto series ended up being over 50% filler in the end.

In regards to this season, in my opinion:

>Great
Houseki no Kuni
Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryouko
Mahoutsukei no Yome
Imouto sae Ireba
Kino no Tabi
Konohana Kitan

>Good/Alright
Inuyashiki (probably would have been in Great if it wasn't for the rushed pacing and often terrible CG)
Net-Juu no Susume
Just Because
Blend S
Animegataris

>Worst
Sho-bitch
Ousama Game (although enjoyable in a so bad it's good sense)

Honorable mention goes to Osake wa Fuufu no Natte Kara. The episodes were so short it just kind of came and went and I don't know where to put it, but it's a very cute and very comfy show about a drunk OL.
It wasn't a spectacular season or anything but it turned out a lot better than I expected

FSN is the equivalent of the fable about the ass and the flute:

This little fable heard,
It good or ill may be;
But it has just occurred
Thus accidentally.

Passing my abode,
Some fields adjoining me
A big ass on his road
Came accidentally.

And laid upon the spot,
A Flute he chanced to see,
Some shepherd had forgot
There accidentally.

The animal in front
To scan it nigh came he,
And snuffing loud as wont,
Blew accidentally.

The air it chanced around
The pipe went passing free
And thus the Flute a sound
Gave accidentally.

“O then,” exclaimed the Ass,
“I know to play it fine;
And who for bad shall class
This music asinine?”

Without the rules of art,
Even asses, we agree,
May once succeed in part,
Thus accidentally.

We need a Fate series where Shirou just open a restaurant where he basically cooks for all the Saber throughout different time periods and cooks for all his little sisters from different timelines. Just think of all the women from across the world his father could have married in different timeline. What sort of dish would his little sister like? Ito Junji: Collection premiered today which I was kind of excited for
It was...eh
I feel like they made a mistake adapting a Souchi story for the first episode, since those are mostly comedic but we got a little bit of pure horror at the end with the doll story. I'm really hoping they adapt Hanging Balloons and My Dear Ancestors
Kind of sucks that they're only doing stuff from the collection but I guess its right there in the name, still were gonna miss out on great shit being animated like Amigara Fault and Hellstar Ramina and Gyo
We'll see how the rest is but as of now it was pretty underwhelming

It was indeed disappointing. That animation was jarringly low fps garbage. From the OP, we are probably getting more Souichi and Tomie. The doll scene at the end is a spot of hope that they might adapt some of the shorter, more horrific stories.

Speaking of CG, have you watched the Gantz movie?
Its pretty good, kinda opened my eyes to the potential of CG. Animes nowadays try to take corners even when it comes to cg so it ends up looking like it was produced using sofrware from the mid 90s. As far CG goes i dont like any except for AppleSeed and Gantz.
Disney did the short animation called Paperman i think that used a new software of theirs that helps CG look like 2D hand drawings. I thought it looked great, kinda wish they would capitalize on it more.

Yes, it was a decent adaptation. I'm not particularly fond of the animation but i must admit it has its charm. The hyper violence is a part of it that i do enjoy, if not just as a reminder of what kind of effect it has me even to this day. I still hoped that the story would be a little consistent, at least with Ryo whose motivation isn't always clear. But i liked the focus on the characters, especially Miko and Miki.

A lot of people seem to misunderstand the motivation of Go Nagai in depicting violence in his stories, Just as the way Anno is when its about the importance of death and the pleasures of oblivion. so im just going to post a quote of an interview of his, since no one will explain it better than the author himself.

>The war experience surely affected my whole childhood and the formation of my personality. Even if I have not experienced any bombing or fighting, all the adults around me kept telling me horrible stories about the war, so I grew up with the awareness that my works should deliver a message of peace.

>I was particularly saddened when I found out that in many countries I was considered to be an author who loves to depict battles and destruction just for the fun of it. The reason why I depict the effects of war in my manga is because I strongly believe that a person should learn from childhood how war can be destructive and how much people and societies may suffer from it, just the same way I learned it from the stories of adults around me when I was a little child. If we raise a child telling him only the nice and happy things of life, he will be unable to cope with all the hardships he will inevitably meet in his adulthood; if he doesn’t know the devastating effects of violence and repression, he could cause incredible damage and suffering to the people around him.

>I guess this is one of the reasons why Japanese people, who have been raised for the last 60 years reading manga that some people abroad have labeled as hyper-violent, chose not to be involved in war after 1945 and have stated in their very constitution that they renounce war, as opposed to a country like the US, which has strong censorship against violence in animation and programs for children, but has been at war for most of its recent history.

First episode of Violet Evergarden was pretty good. I know nothing of the series so I don't have much to say other than HOLY SHIT HER ARMS JUST FELL OFF I'VE NEVER SEEN A KYOANI SHOW BE THIS MORBID and that the animation was beautiful, which is usually a given for kyoani at this point. I'd bet the same team within the studio that did Hyouka animated this
There was also another first episode released today for this show called Koi wa Ameagari no You ni about a high school girl falling in love with her 45 year old manager and that was surprisingly enjoyable. The artstyle is very unique and it seems like its going to be a nice story, I just picked it up on a whim and I am definitely going to be keeping up with it in the coming weeks
This season has a lot of good shows so far

>Imouto Molestation Adventures ep. 2
You know this might be the trashiest anime i've seen this season but the story and characters are still pretty great. The manga is held in high regard too so I'm expecting development that goes beyond the surface yuri fanservice kind of stuff. I like Yuzu even though she has caused nothing but trouble in these two episodes

>Dagashi Kashi season 2
The episodes are shorter, the animation studio has changed and because of that it looks a bit crappier than season 1 but i've been told its closer to the manga designs in this season. Still I'm happy for the return of coffee and candy, Hotaru has one of my favorite character designs ever I love that crazy candy autist

>Takunomi
Similar to Dagashi Kashi this feels like an advertisment for alcohol rather than candy but is still very enjoyable. Anything more than 15 minutes and it probably would have gotten out of hand but it has cute cakes getting drunk so I dont have many complaints

I've still got Darling in the FranXXX to watch and the new episode of Pop Team Epic

With index and railgun you can watch either first as long as you watch the first seasons before the second. I'd watch in release order because that's just my rule of thumb when it comes to watching orders
The first season of railgun happens before the events of the first season of index and railgun S happens at the same time as Index. So if you want to go chronologically itd be railgun > index 1= railgun S > Index 2.
Release order would be Index > Railgun > Index 2 > Railgun S
With gundam I wouldn't know I've never really been into the mecha genre

Rewatching Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood because I forgot the end. Also restarting HunterxHunter because I never finished it and forgot everything except how ridiculous some of the character design is.

Idk, nothing has seemed very interesting to me but it's not like i've been keeping up. Some people are talking about some devil guy thing and I've never seen Parasyte so i might check it

I'm watching this older anime named Shiki currently and loving it. It feels like if Stephen King made an anime, the way it sets up this small town setting and then slowly drags it into a horror-movie scenario (this one being Salems Lot). I'm nearing the end and can barely tell who is supposed to be good or evil anymore, the humans becoming more monstrous than the vampires ever were in their vampire killing methods. It reminds me of that show Parasyte, only without the shonen style fight scenes. Are there any other anime like this one that feel like a quality horror miniseries? I mean, this show is like if Stranger Things got hyperviolent and started killing all the stupid kids in the middle. Already seen/loved Monster btw.

I gave in and watched the new Godzilla which turned out to actually be decent.
The characters and monsters are all very stiff (thanks CG) but at the very least the story was entertaining and it had some nice backgrounds. I liked the idea of returning to earth after thousands of years which was executed much better than that piece of shit movie After Earth and the ending when the REAL godzilla shows up was dank as fuck.
It had some cheesy dialogue and personally I think the religious humanoid aliens were all around a stupid idea, really what the fuck were they thinking, but I can't say I didn't enjoy watching it.
I wonder how many movies they plan to make with this

fuck humans, I hate that one single human character lived in the end. I've seen shows/films before that roll with the theme of that old quote of "be careful when fighting monsters not to become a monster yourself" but damn this show was brutal. Fuckin vampire holocaust just went down. RIP all my fav shiki.

The one thing that might annoy some viewers (not myself) is the first few episodes are a little slow. The story is done in Stephen King style, where first they elaborately build up this small town and the locals before plunging it into Hell. I recall my fav horror anime of all time, Monster, also had a slow start, but that was also 70+ eps, this is only 24 including the 2 OVA eps (which I suggest watching along with the series in their place of the plot rather than after you finish the main series)
