Jack shit there isn't nothing good this season. I was trying there into Hoozuki no Reitetsu 2nd Season, since I really liked the first one 2 years ago. But I only saw the first three and just gave it up. This season sucks, but that's nothing new.

I just downloaded the BLAME movie and the first season of Blood Brigade Battlefront. BLAME looks pretty good, I hear it's not a direct adaption and mashes together a few arcs, but it's faithful to the spirit of the work. As long as Sanakan is in it I'll be happy. BBB I'm just checking out cause it's by the guy who did Trigun. God damn I wish they had adapted the full manga, all the cool fights happen right after where they went into filler. The puppet guy and the splitapart guy don't even do anything in the anime really, and they had the coolest bit in the whole comic.

Really digging the new shokugeki no soma season so far. At firstI thaught it was strange how they introduced a character so obviously evil, but then I realised they are doing the same thing like that movie "Die Welle" about how easily boring teenagers without self confidence or identitty will turn to fascism.
It's also great that we´ve gotten some more practical realisable recipies.

That´s the only current anime I´m following though, and I won´t ever admit to my friends I watch that pedo jap stuff. It seems like there´s hardly one or two good animes a year now. I am glad however, that the previous thread made me check out gintama; It´s like a more goofy version of cowboy bebop, but with ten times more episodes

Someone on the old thread asked me what other comedies I liked after talking about how much I liked Assassination Classroom after I finished it. Think he said he wanted to give some recommendations. So are there any comedy recommendations thatt you guys really suggest? I don't usually watch anime comedies, but I have seen a few.

I've seen probably more than this, but these are some I liked:

Assassination Classroom
Konosuba
Seen some Gintama and liked that

Those are mostly the ones I think of that have comedy as a main focus. I've seen some shows that focus more on other genres that have some good comedy, but I think that's a separate sort of thing.

I have few on my plan-to-watch on MAL, but I never really pick to watch them because I usually look for something more akin to stuff I've liked recently or similar to my all-time favorites.

But if someone suggest a comedy I think I might be interested in I'll probably check it out. I'm always looking for something new to watch.

Is there classic anime that people like?

I mean like when I think of anime people liked 20 years ago it's like Vampire Hunter D and Ninja Scroll and that's cause those were the only things you could get on American VHS that wasn't total shit licensed cheap to take advantage of content starved weebs.

Also does anyone remember movie where it's post apocalyptic cause the majority of the population reverted into acting like savage cavemen? It's also possible that's no the plot at all the film outside of the particular dub I happened to see.

there's plenty of classic anime that people like, for many people some of their all-time favorite are old school anime. Whether it's cause you grew up with it, love that classic feel, or just love the show.

I'm not sure about the movie you're talking about. Kind of a vague description, but I get it might be tough to remember. I can think of a few sort of post-apocalyptic movies, but they're mostly sci-fi sort of anime and don't really fit that description.

damn.
How far back does it have to be to be considered "classic"? Hokuto no Ken, Ranma 1/2, My Neighbor Totoro, etc all go back further than 20 years.

20 years ago, I was watching Ronin Warriors, Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z, cause that's what was on Saturday mornings or whatever.

In his own stoic way, yes, he actually makes an attempt, even if it is a sad attempt, to be a role model to Trunks, future trunks and Cabba. He even decides to not fight in tournament of power because he was waiting for Bra to be born, but luckily Whis has magic C section powers or whatever, so he was able to make it. All the while, Goku is like "I wasn't around when my kids were born, lol".

Continuing Bakemonogatari
I'm glad this series has many seasons and arcs because i'm pretty hooked, this show manages to be interesting and eye pleasing even when the episode is just two characters having a conversation on a bench at the park. I just started the Nadeko Snake arc.
Theres something off about that Hanekawa bitch she really rubs me the wrong way, I like kanbaru though shes adorable
Its pretty impressive how theres been 4 dfiferent OPs so far over the span of 9 episodes, hachikuji's OP felt like a fucking fever dream. They're all pretty good OPs too it takes some dedication to animate different OPs for different arcs
And as much as I love the animation and stylistic choices I still can't get over those ridiculous SHAFT head tilts and leans

Lol it was a pure shot in the dark guess.

For me it would have to be the genres of cyberpunk, thrillers, demons, ninjas ,sci-fi, space opera, around the 1980 -1995 era that does it for me. A lot of the great classics and hidden gems tended to me ova's with no manga counterparts.

That's not to say there weren't good episodic shows though, to me it seems like the rise of cookie cutter in anime really took off around 85 along with the toy and hobbies markets.

That's a hard one. The movies have better pacing but the tv show has added stuff plus a major change from Resurrection of F. Maybe watch Battle of the Gods only. It doesn't really make much difference though as Super excels in the Tournaments so the Tournaments are the only essential parts.

if you liked the first one ,i'd say no not really unless you want more of the world building and to see what happens to the characters after the first Shingeki no Bahamut.

not gonna lie ..i watched virgin soul all the way through as it aired. it really doesnt compare to Shingeki no Bahamut as far as the main character just all around being insufferable even until the last episode.
animation is still solid.

its basically pretty in pink meets D&D , with the good shit happening near the end.

Those questions you're asking are the reason why I stopped right after Boruto: Naruto the Movie. I couldn't tell whether or not the new series was filler. Plus I don't think any of the characters are interesting enough to invest my time in this next-gen series. Boruto is a whiny, arrogant, brat.

kishimoto wrote the movie, and did the first chapter and outlined the idea of the series. but one of his assistants is the one who ultimately draws and writes the series form chapter 2 onward. I'm not sure what of the anime is filler and what isn't, or if it has caught up to the manga yet. I'm almost tempted to watch/read it just to see what the hell was going on in that first flashforward bit of the initial kishimoto chapter, but I bet that's a long ways from now.

oh also the arc where they fight the guy with sharingans all over him like danzo is based on a single volume story kishimoto did draw and write the entirety of, so that's for sure not filler. also I hear they're gonna adapt this one shot about orochimaru's kid, which kishimoto is also responsible for. other than that, it's all that new guy going off guidelines that I'm gonna guess were pretty vague.

I'm gonna miss ponytail Karen it was such a good look but the scene where she cuts it off was pretty hilarious. Hanekawa is the opposite, the haircut really did her design wonders. There was a disappointing lack of Senjougahara and I really wish we saw Shinobu's side of the fight in the final episode but the season was still great. My favorite scenes will always be the ones with Hachikuji because the banter is just too good

I read wiki descriptions of Boruto episodes, and the plots sounded like some new shit, not the Boruto movie or either of those manga that Kishi write. It sounded like brand new plots, I just couldn't tell if the plot was filler or not. I have not read the new manga so not sure if it's supposed to be something from that.

they definitely shortened the final episode, and that final arc was already rushed in the manga, but overall I'm very content with this series. They captured the emotional scenes of the series so god damn well. And unlike Gantz this had a satisfying ending instead of just going "okay fights over everybody go home", which he easily could have done with this series too. He's got some new series starting soon too but I think Inuyashiki is gonna remain the peak of his storytelling ability.

>>392198
lame, I figured they would learn their lesson after old naruto series ended up being over 50% filler in the end.

In regards to this season, in my opinion:

>Great
Houseki no Kuni
Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryouko
Mahoutsukei no Yome
Imouto sae Ireba
Kino no Tabi
Konohana Kitan

>Good/Alright
Inuyashiki (probably would have been in Great if it wasn't for the rushed pacing and often terrible CG)
Net-Juu no Susume
Just Because
Blend S
Animegataris

>Worst
Sho-bitch
Ousama Game (although enjoyable in a so bad it's good sense)

Honorable mention goes to Osake wa Fuufu no Natte Kara. The episodes were so short it just kind of came and went and I don't know where to put it, but it's a very cute and very comfy show about a drunk OL.
It wasn't a spectacular season or anything but it turned out a lot better than I expected

FSN is the equivalent of the fable about the ass and the flute:

This little fable heard,
It good or ill may be;
But it has just occurred
Thus accidentally.

Passing my abode,
Some fields adjoining me
A big ass on his road
Came accidentally.

And laid upon the spot,
A Flute he chanced to see,
Some shepherd had forgot
There accidentally.

The animal in front
To scan it nigh came he,
And snuffing loud as wont,
Blew accidentally.

The air it chanced around
The pipe went passing free
And thus the Flute a sound
Gave accidentally.

“O then,” exclaimed the Ass,
“I know to play it fine;
And who for bad shall class
This music asinine?”

Without the rules of art,
Even asses, we agree,
May once succeed in part,
Thus accidentally.

We need a Fate series where Shirou just open a restaurant where he basically cooks for all the Saber throughout different time periods and cooks for all his little sisters from different timelines. Just think of all the women from across the world his father could have married in different timeline. What sort of dish would his little sister like? Ito Junji: Collection premiered today which I was kind of excited for
It was...eh
I feel like they made a mistake adapting a Souchi story for the first episode, since those are mostly comedic but we got a little bit of pure horror at the end with the doll story. I'm really hoping they adapt Hanging Balloons and My Dear Ancestors
Kind of sucks that they're only doing stuff from the collection but I guess its right there in the name, still were gonna miss out on great shit being animated like Amigara Fault and Hellstar Ramina and Gyo
We'll see how the rest is but as of now it was pretty underwhelming

It was indeed disappointing. That animation was jarringly low fps garbage. From the OP, we are probably getting more Souichi and Tomie. The doll scene at the end is a spot of hope that they might adapt some of the shorter, more horrific stories.

Speaking of CG, have you watched the Gantz movie?
Its pretty good, kinda opened my eyes to the potential of CG. Animes nowadays try to take corners even when it comes to cg so it ends up looking like it was produced using sofrware from the mid 90s. As far CG goes i dont like any except for AppleSeed and Gantz.
Disney did the short animation called Paperman i think that used a new software of theirs that helps CG look like 2D hand drawings. I thought it looked great, kinda wish they would capitalize on it more.

Yes, it was a decent adaptation. I'm not particularly fond of the animation but i must admit it has its charm. The hyper violence is a part of it that i do enjoy, if not just as a reminder of what kind of effect it has me even to this day. I still hoped that the story would be a little consistent, at least with Ryo whose motivation isn't always clear. But i liked the focus on the characters, especially Miko and Miki.

A lot of people seem to misunderstand the motivation of Go Nagai in depicting violence in his stories, Just as the way Anno is when its about the importance of death and the pleasures of oblivion. so im just going to post a quote of an interview of his, since no one will explain it better than the author himself.

>The war experience surely affected my whole childhood and the formation of my personality. Even if I have not experienced any bombing or fighting, all the adults around me kept telling me horrible stories about the war, so I grew up with the awareness that my works should deliver a message of peace.

>I was particularly saddened when I found out that in many countries I was considered to be an author who loves to depict battles and destruction just for the fun of it. The reason why I depict the effects of war in my manga is because I strongly believe that a person should learn from childhood how war can be destructive and how much people and societies may suffer from it, just the same way I learned it from the stories of adults around me when I was a little child. If we raise a child telling him only the nice and happy things of life, he will be unable to cope with all the hardships he will inevitably meet in his adulthood; if he doesn’t know the devastating effects of violence and repression, he could cause incredible damage and suffering to the people around him.

>I guess this is one of the reasons why Japanese people, who have been raised for the last 60 years reading manga that some people abroad have labeled as hyper-violent, chose not to be involved in war after 1945 and have stated in their very constitution that they renounce war, as opposed to a country like the US, which has strong censorship against violence in animation and programs for children, but has been at war for most of its recent history.

First episode of Violet Evergarden was pretty good. I know nothing of the series so I don't have much to say other than HOLY SHIT HER ARMS JUST FELL OFF I'VE NEVER SEEN A KYOANI SHOW BE THIS MORBID and that the animation was beautiful, which is usually a given for kyoani at this point. I'd bet the same team within the studio that did Hyouka animated this
There was also another first episode released today for this show called Koi wa Ameagari no You ni about a high school girl falling in love with her 45 year old manager and that was surprisingly enjoyable. The artstyle is very unique and it seems like its going to be a nice story, I just picked it up on a whim and I am definitely going to be keeping up with it in the coming weeks
This season has a lot of good shows so far

>Imouto Molestation Adventures ep. 2
You know this might be the trashiest anime i've seen this season but the story and characters are still pretty great. The manga is held in high regard too so I'm expecting development that goes beyond the surface yuri fanservice kind of stuff. I like Yuzu even though she has caused nothing but trouble in these two episodes

>Dagashi Kashi season 2
The episodes are shorter, the animation studio has changed and because of that it looks a bit crappier than season 1 but i've been told its closer to the manga designs in this season. Still I'm happy for the return of coffee and candy, Hotaru has one of my favorite character designs ever I love that crazy candy autist

>Takunomi
Similar to Dagashi Kashi this feels like an advertisment for alcohol rather than candy but is still very enjoyable. Anything more than 15 minutes and it probably would have gotten out of hand but it has cute cakes getting drunk so I dont have many complaints

I've still got Darling in the FranXXX to watch and the new episode of Pop Team Epic

With index and railgun you can watch either first as long as you watch the first seasons before the second. I'd watch in release order because that's just my rule of thumb when it comes to watching orders
The first season of railgun happens before the events of the first season of index and railgun S happens at the same time as Index. So if you want to go chronologically itd be railgun > index 1= railgun S > Index 2.
Release order would be Index > Railgun > Index 2 > Railgun S
With gundam I wouldn't know I've never really been into the mecha genre

I'm watching this older anime named Shiki currently and loving it. It feels like if Stephen King made an anime, the way it sets up this small town setting and then slowly drags it into a horror-movie scenario (this one being Salems Lot). I'm nearing the end and can barely tell who is supposed to be good or evil anymore, the humans becoming more monstrous than the vampires ever were in their vampire killing methods. It reminds me of that show Parasyte, only without the shonen style fight scenes. Are there any other anime like this one that feel like a quality horror miniseries? I mean, this show is like if Stranger Things got hyperviolent and started killing all the stupid kids in the middle. Already seen/loved Monster btw.

I gave in and watched the new Godzilla which turned out to actually be decent.
The characters and monsters are all very stiff (thanks CG) but at the very least the story was entertaining and it had some nice backgrounds. I liked the idea of returning to earth after thousands of years which was executed much better than that piece of shit movie After Earth and the ending when the REAL godzilla shows up was dank as fuck.
It had some cheesy dialogue and personally I think the religious humanoid aliens were all around a stupid idea, really what the fuck were they thinking, but I can't say I didn't enjoy watching it.
I wonder how many movies they plan to make with this

The one thing that might annoy some viewers (not myself) is the first few episodes are a little slow. The story is done in Stephen King style, where first they elaborately build up this small town and the locals before plunging it into Hell. I recall my fav horror anime of all time, Monster, also had a slow start, but that was also 70+ eps, this is only 24 including the 2 OVA eps (which I suggest watching along with the series in their place of the plot rather than after you finish the main series)

finished fate apocrypha

The main character feels like a side character. The strange thing is what could have been a better main character is right there in the story all along.

Fate Apo could have been better, I feel, if the love interest was written as the main, while the main was written as the love interest. The fight, the symbolism, and the ideological argument between the two Ruler-class Saints could then get better focus. Sieg would then not need so much power boosts in such a short time out of nowhere in order to take on Shirou. Sieg transforming into a dragon and flying away with the Grail forever could then be rewritten to be much more dramatic, such as having Sieg fly away while Jeanne is still busy fighting Shirou, since Sieg won't be the one fighting Shirou.

I started watching it yesterday BECAUSE of the animation. I think it's absolutely fantastic. Everybody says something like "watch Mindgame on acid" but it's really just last 10 minutes. If you can get past the over the top violence I think this shows amazing to look at. The rave scene in episode one blew me away. My one complaint is the exposition/ explanation.... Why is Akira Devilman? Like it's really not explained... maybe it GET'S explained. I don't understand why he's different or what happened to him was unique. Is he just a stand up guy? I mean I guess I gotta have some suspension of disbelief in a show where a kid grows a couple feet and people think he had make over or growth spurt. I know nothing about the series, first dive.

there is one this season called ryuuou no oshigoto but I had to turn it off halfway through the first episode when it just became bogged down in cringy sibling jealousy/little girl perv shit. the initial write up sounded interesting, a young shogi champion takes in an even younger talented shogi player as a disciple. but i shouldve realised that because the disciple is a 9 year old girl that the premise wasn't going to be played seriously. halfway through the first episode and the girl is wandering around his house naked like its no big deal and his sister appears out of nowhere and shes a super stuck up bitch, like thats supposed to be funny or something.

Ya, makes a more sense now that I watched the whole thing. It was a tad confusing a the start. The ending was paced REALLY quick it was jarring should have ended on episode 9 and just make that one longer. You can't really care that much after everyone is dead I never watched the older ones because I heard they were the original edgelord anime/manga. This is the first version I've seen but I felt the sex and violence was so over the top and sort of self aware that it made the whole thing work. Devilman fucking/sorta raping a villain was a bit questionable

I finished up the entire Monogatari series last night and absolutely loved every minute of it. Its always hard for me to say which shows and movies are my favorite but I'd definitely say this is my favorite anime i've ever watched. Every arc and episode was highly entertaining, the unique artstyle fit the tone perfectly, most of the OPs were fucking fantastic, and all the characters were very three dimensional and loveable. Even the characters that I didn't like all the much like Ougi and Gaen were still great characters in their own ways. I also loved how most of the "fights" didn't end with someone dying, they usually ended with an agreement or one side forfeiting. Come to think of it I don't think a single character actually died throughout the whole series (besides obvious shit like araragi dying before Mayoi Hell or the fake out with Tsukihi when she gets half her body blown off by Ononoki but with both of those they weren't really dead). Wait no it just hit me that Shinobu made a meal out of Guillotine Cutter in Kizu so I guess thats 1, but for a show thats so gruesome there were very few actual deaths.

Saw it in theaters and well, I was unimpressed. It’s charming in the way a Disney movie is but was entirely playing it safe. Everything felt extremely cliche and beat to death.

People complain about anime tropes and archetypes and art being reused when it’s cute girls with bid tits and defined personalities, but when it’s a magical kid adventure nobody seems to have a problem with it.

Exactly. I don't mind tropes and waifus one bit, I love them. But when watching an anime that looks like a Disney twist on Mahou Shoujo I hoped it would blow my mind in some new way. It failed to blow my mind AND didn't have waifus.

Watched the first season of SAO. Yeah I get the fact that Kirito is a huge Mary Sue self-insert but I didn't really mind it at all for some reason when normally I would. A bit part is that, for some reason, it just makes me feel nostalgic. I don't know what exactly makes it so. Maybe it appeals to my inner 15 year old weeb self that never truly grew up. Index makes me feel the same way, as well as, for some reason, Girls und Panzer.

I see the issues people have with it and maybe it helps that I watched it after all the hype died down.

Also, I kinda find it funny that people bitch about Kirito being a beta yet Kirito and Asuna did have sex, even if it was implied glop, but maybe it doesn't count because it was cybersex.

Leddits anime board is doing a rewatch of FMA brotherhood so I figured now is a good time to join in since I've never seen it
I've seen the original 2003 version but that was way back when it was airing on adult swim, I don't remember much besides a few key scenes and storylines. It's also giving me a chance to compare the voices since when it was on adult swim it was the English dub. I don't know if it's just because I've seen so much subbed anime since then but I'm already preferring the jap voices, they just fit better. Al's voice sounds pretty similar to the English dub but Ed's is different and sounds closer to his age and look than the English
Hawkeye is still cute as ever I think she was one of my first anime crushes

I hope I remember enough to notice the differences between the two, apparently Brotherhood is follows the manga closer while the 2003 version did its own thing about half way through

That's true. I was thinking that maybe Touma's power was kinda bordering on bullshit, but pretty much everyone has some sort of bullshit power. I still don't get what Accelerator's power is supposed to be and why he can push an entire skyscraper across a city.

Still, I'm pretty hyped for S3 to be finally happening. nb

Brotherhood IS the manga. The original anime and the manga diverge around the time when Greed is first introduced. After that they are almost completely different. Brotherhood is the best. Shit maybe I need to watch it again too. I've been feeling the urge to feed my shonen trash hunger by rewatching something, still tossing up between FMA:B and HxH. FMA:B was my favourite thing until I watched HxH, now the genre is spoiled for me. THANKS TOGASHI NOW FUCKING FINISH THE MANGA YOU FUCK

But yeah Brotherhood is so much more epic than 2003. King Bradley is a fucking boss. You WILL be cheering for him even though he's fucking the good guys shit up. also real talk, subs almost always beat dubs, and even when subs might be considered subpar, everything is better in it's native language, it's not just a weeaboo glorious nippon thing

Accelerator can control vectors. Vectors are methods of calculating movement in the sub-atomic world, perhaps even beyond the sub-atomical. It's all fucked up weird math and physics shit, so I can't explain it much further.

Anyway within the context of Index this means he's pretty much the #1 esper, and he has some pretty good defences against many forms of magic, since many forms of magic end up interacting with reality, and when magic forms vectors, he can control the magic, yadda yadda yadda. I think at one point Accelerator even learns how to cast spells despite the fact that to most espers, casting magic is potentially deadly.

He really won the superpower lottery. He's basically Superman.

Yes, obviously, but that's purely tangential. How does the national identity of the bombers inform the actual storytelling the movie does? IIRC they just name-drop America in passing 2-3 times. Because it's not a movie about countries, it's a movie about people. Human suffering in the wake of war. The lives everybody forgets down past all the government bodies and their patriotic blustering. It doesn't matter who dropped the bomb, just that a bomb was dropped. And how that's shitty in any instance.

No it isn't. Alot of shit got skipped from the light novels, and mad house even added their own thing in the last episode which was never the case in the books. If anything, its an even weaker adaptation than the first season. Next episode is probably going to be about Climb, meaning even less explanation to Seba's motivation for saving Tuare. Did you even read the books?

Well too bad you wont be seeing much of them this season, or ever. After MadHouse lame adaptation, i dont think we will be getting a third season. Someone suggested they did this intentionally because the Studio hates Light Novel adaptations. The first season was a surprise success but they want to kill it for good with the second one. I mean, the animation, especially the lizard battle is shit, not by Mad house standard, but by anime standards overall.

The rest of the season is going to be about the new world humans, a little bit about Ainz and Demiurge in the last episodes. You might see a bit of Albedo in the last episode. Shalltear doesnt come back until Vol.11, we just entered vol.5.

The book are very entertaining. You should look into it, if you're not allergic to reading.

Oh man, it really gets good though. Light spoilers: The gang leave Nazarick for a bit and each one gets their own adventure, Albedo's adventure in the Re-Estize Kingdom was really fun. Shalltear goes to the Dwarf Kingdom with Aura and its really good. Dimurge goes to a Holy Kingdom and fucks shit up. There are "better" books out there no doubt but these are equally fun

Albedo Spoiler The thing Albedo is that Ainz re-edited her configuration to "Deeply in love with Momonga" the word Deeply comes into play later on in the story, and Albedo is slowly losing her mind because she cant compensate for Ainz loneliness since his mates left him with the guild. Its kinda sad that you will never know about it, since i think Overlord is one of the better written LN books out there.

That's too bad. Plenty of anime were adopted from Light novels, and the ones that do usually get rushed. I think Overlord is one of the better adaptations, at least the first season. The first battle of Ainz and Shallchair was just meant to give you perspective to just how powerful they are, and they never actually fight other monsters until later on to compare their fight with the others. Ainz murders 70,000 men with a single spell, including Gazef. Shallchair wipes out an army of monsters just waving her spear around. just too bad will never be animated.

That sounds like exactly the kind of thing they'd need to animate to pick up the slack after a weaker(?) 2nd season.

So the reason that that works is because the creator of the image knows that imageboards like to scale down images to create thumbnails using bilinear downsampling (you could use the faster point-filtering or point-downsampling, but this causes the shrunken thumbnail to lose some quality compared to the original so most imageboards and forums don't do this). When bilinear filtering is used, many pixels of the original source image are combined and averaged together to create the output pixels. A simple program is created to exploit that averaging process to cause the down-filtered pixels to average out to pixels that produce the thumbnail image.

So I finished up Clannad and boy did the second half of After Story feel rushed
There was this lull at first, which honestly was really fucking depressing, where Tomoya gets his job and barely has any time for nagisa while she's basically housewiving the best she can, misses her graduation etc. Very real and stressful to watch. Then bam married, pregnant, nagisa dies, five year time skip, ushio dies then that crazy bullshit at the end which I read a complete analysis of from someone who played the VNs in depth too and I still think it was a bunch of baloney. They had their cake and ate it too. Surprisngly enough I was not all that affected by ushio and nagisa's death, maybe because it happened so suddenly or maybe it was because I wasn't a huge fan of nagisa in the first place. What really got me was when Tomoya took Ushio to the flower field where she lost her robot toy and said she wanted to find it because it was the "first thing from daddy". That really fucking got me, tore me up. The episode where he confronts his dad and tells him to go back home really got me misty eyed too. I've been worried this whole season that Fuuko wouldn't show up again but she got a good amount of screentime in the last few episodes, I was very happy about that. All in all it was a great show and I'm glad I finally watched it after all these years, its definitely a classic.

I also watched Yosuga no Sora which was interesting, albeit trashy, but who doesn't love some good trash every now and then. it was interesting because its a VN based anime but showed the routes you could get in the game giving each girl 2-3 episodes which was pretty cool. It had a better ending than Oreimo

I didn't like Crybaby much but I read the original Devilman manga and I thought that shit was awesome. The OVA and it's hilarious dub is also fucking magical.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9LbQ9SUEzU

Remember when tons of anime was like this, in the 80's, 90's and early 2000's? Now the only super grimdark edgy gory "MATURE CARTOONS FOR ADULTS" show we've really got is Attack on Titan. And I guess JoJo, but the TV show is super fucking censored compared to the manga, and I already read all of it. I miss animes where people get their parts bitten off and their faces crushed in a bad guy's giant fist while some floppy tits hang out in the background. Maybe I'm still 14 on the inside but that shit was fun goddamnit.

I thought the pacing towards the end was wack as fuck and apparently the Manga does a better job with that thing and the OVA is paced so we don't really see the full story. Aside from what felt like a rushed ending that had no actual sense of time I actually enjoyed crybaby. Seriously we go from paranoia to marshal law to killing each other in the streets in a fucking day. Also the entire planet took the word of some teenager that can barley speak English about demons? They get into how some people think the demons are fake or bio experiment. That would be interesting and a lot more believable if everyone didn't just loose their shit in an instant. Then the actual apocalypse happens and there's a camp of the last remaining humans and some sort of totalitarian rule over them imposed by the demons. WTF?! When did anyone have time for this to happen. This all went down in maybe 3 or 2 days. Seems like they were getting there genre's of fiction mixed up. That and you're not invested by episode 10, everyone's already dead should have just extended that episode.

The animation, even though it was inconsistent, was a big part of why I enjoyed it. Surprisingly psychedelic. I just shit on a lot of it but I did dig the overall story despite some problems and that very last scene was fantastic. I thought it was a story about some people being decent and deciding to see the good in things when shit hits the fan.

Any fans of Black Clover? I'm a manga fan who has been watching the eng dub as it comes out. Sucks they've had filler eps this early, but it's cool seeing the story animated at least (even with shitty cgi moments). I recall the arc that just ended being the weakest in the comic, so the show will be all uphill from here, for those skeptical of these opening storylines.

I've been switching between shows a lot lately.

Currently the one's I'm watching the most right now are Mekakucity Actors, A Certain Magical Index (already saw railgun and loved it), and 3 of the shows airing right now - Darling in the Franxx, Violet Evergarden, and The Ancient Magus' Bride.

If anyone is watching any of those I'd love to discuss them a bit.

Some ones that I was watching that kinda put on-hold for now: March Comes in like a Lion, and the second season of Sound Euphonium (might as well just finish it because I'm almost done anyways)

I'm watching Franxx, VEG, and I WAS watching magus but I stopped when the winter season started. Its a good show I'm just overloaded with shows right now and figured I can continue whenever, I wanted to read the manga first anyways
Franxx can be fun but its kind of annoying how Ichigo is clearly just put in there to lose thats like her whole character.
VEG is...eh. Idk, I've been on the fence since it started. The animation is beautiful, I like the world they're building, violet is cute, but I find myself bored a lot of the time. The episodes are pretty formulaic and melodramatic and I feel that the show is trying way too hard to tug at heart strings.
Its hard to keep interest when most of the episodes have been "violet writes a letter for someone and learns a bit about love" over and over again. We've gotten some backstory but even that is pretty bland

Yeah on violet evergarden–I like it but I can see where you’re coming from. The pacing is slow and it is similar but I still enjoy it because it does play on my emotions and the animation is very nice. I think it was definitely overhyped before it came out. However, I wouldn’t say it’s bad. In fact, I think it’s quite good even if most episodes cover the same thing. I think that’s kinda of the point in fact. But, I think they could make the show even better if they developed the other sidebar of violet and her military experiences even more. It would make the shore more multi-faceted and interesting. Nonetheless, go still think it is well done but could be better.

As for darling in the franxx, I too think it’s fun. Feels like it’s becoming kinda a meme with how much exposure it’s getting but I think the show is very entertaining in the least even if it doesn’t have a ton of substance. There’s a lot of fan service, although I think it does play into the narrative of a bunch of naive young teens coming of age and going through puberty and learning more about the real world of humans that existed before. This is a fun one to watch while airing because I think how good it is depends on how it progresses. It seems obvious that ichigo is made to be the character to lose which kinda sucks but at the same time you can’t discredit the show on the premise until you see it play out (even though she probably will). Not that that makes the show bad inherently.

On magus I’ve let that one kinda go by the wayside as well but by no means is it a bad show. I actually have really enjoyed it. It’s just that my mood changes and I wan a watch different types of shows depending on my mood. When I first started magus I seriously watched like all the episodes that were out in one day which was like 13 or 14 I think.

Oh don't get me wrong VEG is in no way a bad show and from a technical standpoint its incredible I just wish it wasn't so episodic and focused more on a main story. In fact I just watched the newest episode and it was pretty great. There was actual authentic feeling emotion rather than feelings pulled out of someones ass for a one episode arc. If the whole season was like this episode it probably would have been at the top of my list but they padded it with shit that didn't develop anyone or anything in the story that much, I hope these last few episodes are closer to this one.
and yeah part of the reason i'm even watching Franxx is because of all the blatant sexualization. Not even the fanservice sexualization either, its the hilarious way the show turns literally everything into sex like the mech positions or the fact that they call the pilots pistils and stamens. Its a big ball of sexual frustration and awakening and a real joy to watch most of the time. Last weeks episode was blatant filler but still very entertaining, I loved Hiro chasing 02 all over the place and the sitcom worthy dividing line they made across the house

Yeah it was pretty funny that the real filler episode was right after the beach episode. The beach episode actually worked as good development. The most recent episode was fun though. I wouldn’t call it blatant filler totally because of the ending (I would do spoiler tags and explain but I forget how and I’m on my phone and too lazy to look it up).

The first few episodes felt like recycled filler. I kept thinking that id seen them before. Does Gintama repeat episodes? Also yeah is it actually worth watching the new season? I can't deal with having no arcs.

Anyways. I've been watching those two new netflix anime B: the beginning and AICO
B is good not great, definitely better than AICO though which is bland and repetitive and if I weren't already 8 episodes in I probably would have dropped it. B has a pretty nice ED and some cool fights but the story is a bit convoluted

It turns you into worse than gays, they're not just gays. They're ultra next level gays. It probably has to do with the fact that anime has been proven to lower libido, then after that it just spirals out of control until you're getting your dick cut off...

It's more like a 90s adult animated show rather then a anime.
Anime is shit, there are even some faggots who're mastrubating on that shit.
Anime is a pure propoganda of homosexuality, pedophilia, sexual harassment and incest.
Some dorks are evem thinking that it's cute that brother and sister are fucking each other, probably Larry and And Wachowski started to fuck each other asses after spending their whole time watching too much anime, later they changed their dicks with pussies, and somehow managed to look even worse then Bruce Jenner.

I'm finally getting around to watching Hero Academia and trying to finish before season 3 airs in april, i'm around half way through the second season.
Good show, fun show, but its a little ridiculous that they spend ~5 minutes each episode recapping the last. Why bother doing a 2 cour season if a quarter of it is going to be spent on recap
My favorite character so far is Todoroki, his fight with Deku was hype as FUCK
Bakugo is a sorta one note character but whenever he's making faces like this it gives me a good chuckle. What an edgy little cunt

Yeah i was enjoying him at first but the edge never stopped, it just keeps on escalating to retarded level. Every scene he shows up from now on he's just trying to be as edgy as he can its fucking ridiculous and fucking ruins it. He's definitely one of the most hated characters on my list. I dont expect much depth from shounen anime but this character is just really shallow as fuck.

Personally I’d say there’s some depth to his character. Even though he’s a prodigy among his classmates, there’s still someone who suffers from an inferiority complex. I loved watching his worldview get shitted on by characters like Deku and Todoroki.

He only thinks he's a prodigy but in fact he aint, and he cried like a little bitch when his reality came crashing down. It's even funny how deku is actually the one responsible for his inflated ego and yet he's the one who keeps challenging him to rise to a higher standard. Todoroki is really the only one who's an actual prodigy, and i love how most of the second season is showcasing how that comes with its own package of issues as well. I liked Deku for what he was, and as a mc he's good. The side characters are the main reason why i watched it, i like em all especially that Crow/Raven/Shadow guy he's awesome i wish he had more screen time. I kinda lost interest in the show after the tournament though, there was an arc about some guy who uses a knife or something and the guy didnt really make any sense whatsoever and contradicted himself like a typical shounen antagonist and i really just didnt like it so i moved on. I hope it got better. I might pick it up again

With a few tweaks and tunes this show could have been excellent but it was held back by a disjointed story that felt like they were just trying to mash together two shows to create one that made sense
The finale obviously signaled that the creators expect to make a season 2 and I really hope they learn their lesson from the first because they have the talent to back a fantastic show

The story begins in July 2008, during a time when humankind is faced with the threat of extinction. A devastating war fought between two major nations with ultra-magnetic weapons far greater than anything seen earlier brings about total chaos and destruction throughout the world, resulting in several earthquakes and tsunamis. The earth is thrown off its axis, its crust rocked by massive movements, and the five continents are torn completely apart and sink deep below the sea.

An attempt by a group of people to flee to outer space failed, with their spaceships being forced back to earth and vanishing, thus shattering their hopes. But one of the spaceships narrowly escaped destruction and crash landed on a small island which had miraculously survived the devastation. The crew members of the spaceship settled there, as if they were seeds sown on the island.

Amidst these survivors, a boy named Conan is born in October 2010, bringing a new ray of hope to the survivors. After several years, during which most of the other survivors had died and the only people left on the island were Conan and his grandfather, he meets a young girl named Lana, and their adventure begins. Between the different islands left in the world, including Industria, High Harbor, Remnant, and others, the young group of adventurers travel and conflict rises between good and evil people. Throughout the series a pure love story develops between Conan and Lana

>Killing Bites

Pretty good first season. I wasn't expecting much cause the best of Killing bites come later on The entire first season is a set up for Youko Mitsukado and Nomoto's hunt for vengeance against Hitomi and the inner circle of Killing bites Underground. Its too bad we wont see Nomoto in all his Cold and calculating glory until next year.

The chances of this getting a second season seem pretty slim, I don't think there's even enough manga material for it yet

The first episode of Mahou Shoujo Site aired today and boy was it edgy, gonna give it a couple episodes to see whats up.
There was also something called Megalo Box that aired yesterday which, even though I've never been all that into sports anime, seems like its going to be a really cool show. I can definitely already see it being a lot of peoples AOTS unless it goes to complete shit but so far its got a real nice vibe

so after i was told by a lady friend she would watch crying freeman if i watched episode 4 to the most recent darling in the franxxx.

i can conclude episode 4 is the most ridiculous shit i have ever seen ,and that after episode 5 it actually got better with 10-13 being pretty solid

Madoka was good shit I'm glad I finally got it out of my backlog
It really makes most other magical girl shows look like a bunch of frilly garbage, then again mahou shoujo really aren't meant to be compelling really

What's a good recent anime to watch for an oldfuck like me who likes ye olde '90s handdrawn hyperviolence in his anime?

No big name anime playing and I hear the Junji Ito anime is kinda shit, so I got no anime to watch besides Pop Team Epic.
