Right so there's some kid I guess and there's a creepy dude in a big brown robe who's struggling with himself over if he should kidnap the kid or not. These creepy men who keep appearing are trying to make him do it, they have something that looks like a rectangle of blue TV screen/static floating in front of their faces which makes them look creepy as fuck.
There are some punky looking "good" guys who appear near the end to fight them, there are scenes of empty road then they sort of teleport in with popping sounds. I think they're protectors of children or dreams or something?
While all this is going on the kid's dad is busy with work and right at the end as the first creepy guy decides to be good, it's revealed he IS the dad, but fucked up by magic or something, so the dad crashes his car which means he can stop working and spend time with his kid it's really bugging me because some of the visuals of the film are really great but I can't remember what it's called.

Kinda vague. Can you give us any other hints? Stuff like what decade the movie is from or what language (possible accent?) it is.

Home Alone 2

It's not that vague, I've described the whole plot and all the main characters. If you knew the film you'd know it from this.
I think it's pretty recent a film, post-2010. Not badly produced but not a blockbuster either obviously. 90% sure it's American, suppose it could be Canadian.

Guess I'm just high then. It sounds like some YA stuff but it makes me think of Push or I Am Number 4.

I'm probably wrong but it also reminds me of Hideaway. Everyone should watch it.

It's none of those.
Yeah it could be sort of YA except the whole father/child theme isn't really something YA care about much. oh I think it was a girl not a boy sorry.

Sounds like a cross between big mommas house 2 and flubber.
