On monday I started what I thought was gonna be a Herzog binge-watching week, starting off with Nosferatu. I loved it. But someone told me I should enjoy Herzog a bit more and space out his best films, so instead of watching another Herzog, I decided to check out this iranian film "A girl walks home alone at night". Anyway, I loved it too, and since I love horror films, I thought it'd be cool to have a vampire binge-watching week.

What are some recommendations?

So far, that I recall and recommend, I've seen:
Nosferatu - Phantom der Nacht (1979)
A girl walks home alone at night (2014)
Thirst (2009)
Let the right one in (2008)

Next one will be the original Nosferatu

>Near Dark
Pretty much all you need, but if you want more...

>Cronos is early Del Toro. Pretty cool movie with fun visuals
>The Strain: The show is meh, but has some cool scenes from the books.
>30 Days of Night: Ignore the sequel. Sequel comics are hit or miss.
>Thirst: Contemporary Korean vampire flick
>Rockula: It's pure 80s vamp cheese
>Once Bitten: Early Jim Carrey dating a glam vamp
>Vampire's Kiss: More or less the same thing but with Nicholas Cage
>Bram Stoker's Dracula: Pretty good
>Vampires: Bon Jovi vs bloodsuckers in a mediocre B-movie
>Dracula: Dead & Loving It = Bram Stoker's Dracula + Naked Gun
>Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The show is aight, but the movie is the perfect mix of comedy and horror
>Fright Night (and remake): Very OK vamp flicks
>Interview with a Vampire: Gay slash-fiction before slash-fiction had a classification
>Queen of the Damned: 45% crap. Aliyah saves the movie though
>Blacula: Blaxploitation Dracula
>League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: Has some neat vampire stuff with one of the main characters
>Love at First Bite: Cutesy romantic comedy/horror
>True Blood: Ever been bi-curious? Well you will be after watching this. Not because of male nudity, but because questioning your sexuality is more entertaining than this show
>Blood for Dracula: Andy Warhol's take on vampires

Also check out Stake Land. Ignore the sequel though. Ignore all Underworld movies. They're billed as vampires vs werewolves but it's actually werewolves vs euro trash

Most of the good stuff has been mentioned already (especially Vampire's Kiss) so I'm kinda scraping the bottom of the barrel here.

>Vampires (1998) featuring James Woods trying to be a badass, made by John Carpenter though
>The Addiction (1995) sort of a serious/realistic vampire movie, up to a point of course
>Penny Dreadful, 3 season show. You're best of just watching the first season (which is where the vamps are)
>Van Helsing (2004) decent action flick
>Dracula: Dead and Loving It (1995) Leslie Nielsen comedy, not one of his best
>Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2012) just as stupid as it sounds, still pretty entertaining action movie.
>Night Watch (2004) Russian movie, cool cgi. Has a sequel but I haven't seen it.
>Daybreakers (2009) pretty cool premise, vampires rule the world as a contemporary society, human resistance fights back etc.
>Ultraviolet (2006) pretty damn terrible tbh, but it has some cool visuals and use of colour

Pretty much all the good ones have been listed but I'll have to disagree with Daybreakers. Terrible, nonsensical movie.

If someone hasn't mentioned it, Dracula Untold was pretty good. The exploration of the backstory was fun and really cool visuals.

>Forever Knight
Early 90s tv show with plenty of cheesy 80s plots and tropes but also does a good job with its atmosphere and flashbacks. Main cast's performance is excellent and guest actors are hit and miss. It lasted 3 seasons. The male lead now works as a theologian in the UK.

Suck (2009) - Canadian comedy/horror, def doesn't take itself too serious, but isn't too cheeseball.

Byzantium (2012) - Same director as Interview with the Vampire, I feel like Jordan has a good grasp on the humanistic/sensual type of vampire.

Suck was really great because of the supporting cast and cameos. Alice Cooper, Iggy Pop, Henry Rollins, and Malcolm McDowell. Can't go wrong really.

>>398392

True Blood doesn't deserve the hate it gets. At least the first few seasons anyway.
Definitely more than a little homoerotic but tbh vampires have always been kinda gay.

My recommendation is The Hunger (1983). Stars David Bowie, Catherine Deneuve, and Susan Sarandon. Kinda cheesy at times but I love Bowie as an actor and the pair of him and Deneuve make pretty rad vampires.

Said this a million times here but it amazes me Underworld managed to be as stale and boring as it was. Werewolves vs Vampires gangwar is an amazing B-Movie plot line but they took it way to seriously. Could be so much fun. The Werwolves have always looked pretty cool, they could just do a lot more with them.

My favorite vamps:

The Hunger - trippy David Bowie vamp
Only Lovers Left Alive - it's got that 70s heroin addict cool vibe
Lifeforce - naked space vampires
Blacula and Blacula 2 - pure classic fun
Nosferatu and Vampyr - the silent originals
Shadow of the Vampire - fun if you've seen those silents
Dracula - Bela Lugosi Classic
Dracula's Daughter - sequel to that classic, and a precursor to the lesbian vampire subgenre of 70s sleaze
Vampyros Lesbos - probably the best of those sleazy lesbian vampire movies
Vampyres - more lesbian vampire fun
The Velvet Vampire - more 70s weirdness
Alucarda - more of a possession movie than a vampire movie, but worth watching
Vampire in Brooklyn - black vampire comedy
Buffy the Vampire Slayer - movie is campy fun, the series is something I grew up so I'm biased to love it
The Matrix Reloaded - haters gonna hate and their screentime was short, but I liked the idea of vampires being leftover AI code
