Pretty fucked up what happened and United lost $1.4 billion from that incident, not surprised by that although apparently the doctor has a criminal past - http://www.courier-journal.com/story/news/local/2017/04/11/david-dao-passenger-removed-united-flight-doctor-troubled-past/100318320/

I have to fly on United a lot of times since my parents are both frequent flyers on there but compared to other airlines I've flown on like Alaska, JetBlue, Southwest and Virgin America, the flying experience is sub par but I put up with it.

>although apparently the doctor has a criminal past

Why is this ever relevant? Who gives a shit? Too many people apparently. It should have absolutely NO bearing on this situation, it is just a lazy but effective means of character assassination to convince us to keep sucking police and corporate dick.

Fuck United, fuck the police, and fuck these disgusting bottom feeder news agencies.

When someone in a uniform gets involved a lot of people's brains just shut off and they go into "obey and justify" mode.

Well, apparently this was mostly legal so I'd argue that the problem might be your laws and who you put in uniform. Obeying uniforms during e.g. the recent Stockholm attack is an excellent idea.

For the record; Swedish cops don't even get a gun until they're more than a year into their 3yr university-level education. They spend the last year as trainee's.

I've heard that. In the US it seems a lot more haphazard. They don't seem to be trained as well at all. They're very trigger happy and for some reason a lot more people wind up dead in dealings with American cops than with others. Not pretty.

It doesn't matter if it's legal, the guy was refusing to leave the plane because of a random lotto. He wan't resisting arrest, he was resisting giving up his rights to a seat he purchased.

Being brutalized by an officer due to a corporate mistake is ridiculous.

They do carry guns in general though right?

Norwegian here and the standard is guns stays in the police vehicle. Unless there's a temporary armament like right now as of writing, because that terrorism shit that went down in Stockholm.

I don't like it though, I feel way less secure with a bunch of cops running around with holstered guns.

United is shit. It's literally the worst fucking airline. I mean unless you're into being berated by 60 year old airline stewardesses with botched face jobs screaming at you for no reason and flying on planes that constantly smell like an inner city subway platform.

oh well you should have said that in the first place, so that I didn't have to bother getting upset about this. I thought we were actually getting upset about a decent human being treated unfairly, but it's not inhumane if they're inhuman scum.

"swinging his hands up and down" while yelling he is not leaving the flight is not "trying to throw punches".
Cops will construe literally any movement as violence to justify initiating force. Unarmed man aggressively charging police related.

There is absolutely no excuse for two officers not being able to remove a 70 year old asian man from a plane without beating the shit out of him.

A police officer needs to be trained to deescalate situations without the use of force, they need to be trained to use force without harming the victim, and they need to be punished when they cause blatantly unnecessary harm to individuals.

We need some sort of deterrent to keep these violent thugs from harming the general population, instead of rewarding them with a paid vacation and putting them right back out on the street.
