yeah it's one of those. use it all the damn time~

I didn't add water so that's probably why it looks like chili... i had a little bit of clam juice but not really enough to make an impact.
But when I would reheat it i'd add water to my liking and could change the thickness.

the thing is that it takes actual effort

when confronted with expending effort, over an extended period of time, most would rather just find excuses. if you batter those experiences aside, theyll come up with new ones.

Yeah I think there was a study, where a nutritionist ate nothing but garbage junk food for a month, but with controlled portions, and he actually lost weight. As Americans we have a serious problem with impulse control when it comes to portions.
I recently got a handle on portion control (though I never had weight issues, I just wanted to be fitter and cut down a few BMI) and it's strange how good my self control is now that I've got a grip on it. It's a strong impulse to keep eating, but once you're more conscious of it, it's so much easier to control.

Losing weight is about less calories in than out whatever some people tell you ab out gimmick diets.

However what you eat has other effects, shits, long term health, general wellbeing, and what the weight lost actually consisted of (well how much was fat and how much was muscle) then changing what you eat help with these things.

I think one of the things about hyper processed carbs is that they're a little bit addicted too.

They come out with these every easter, and they're the absolute best. They're only slightly different than regular sweet tarts, because some of them are a slightly softer consistency. So they dissolve a little faster, and you get more of the flavor faster. They're so dank.

this is good advice. also it's good to know the role of ingredients like you touched on: starches, aromatics, herbs/spices, protein etc. don't forget fond, roux, and techniques like roasting, or braising, or broiling. and there's custards and yeast(bread and booze)...

anyway I suggest alton brown of course because when you know the mechanics you can cook all sorts of things. I also like food wishes on youtube because he shows you every step visually and his recipes seem pretty consistent and foolproof to me.

This is my favorite.

2 Leeks, chop the whites and leave the green leaves long
Boil the green leaves in water and remove the leaves after 3 minutes and save the water
Add 1 chopped onion and several chopped potatoes
Add some parsley
Cook until soft
Reduce heat
Add a pint of heavy whipping cream, salt and pepper to taste

Another one is:

1 can of straw mushrooms cut in halves
1 package of portobello mushrooms sliced
Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.

Simply, beef dogs, decent deli style buns, lettuce sliced like in a thin strip with a shredded appearance. Top lettuce with black pepper, splash with red wine vinegar and dabs of mustard.

Rarely ketchup. Beef dogs, like real franks with ketchup is like, just as well have a mechanically separated chicken pork and other pats hot dogs instead of wasting a decent meat.

Hebrew National is OK, there is better, or at least different. Nut ketchup on these,
just as well have a ten cent hot dog instead. That was boiled in hotdog water.

Ok I know this was a very vague post but honestly just Google "vegan curry" or "vegan soup" or fuck even just "tasty vegan dishes" and you will find shit tons of recipes. I would post some of my own but I've reverted from veganism to vegetarianism so I don't really cook vegan anymore, unless it's a stir-fry.

But in my experience, cooking vegan is basically just taking out all the good shit and replacing it with extra seasoning (sometimes obscure, bullshitty stuff thats expensive and hard to find) . I dunno, veganism made me feel really really healthy but at the same time I was constantly hungry and every meal I ate never satisfied me. It never filled me, and taste wise it was good but always missing something. That something was dairy or eggs. Anyways I don't want to turn this into a vegetarianism vs veganism debate because I did feel fucking awesome (health wise) when I was vegan but it was just so damn difficult.

Google is your friend anyways. I discovered many nice vegan meals through a simple Google search.

I smoked some loud outside the trap (in bong fgt), and it tasted like strawberry milk. Such an outlandish claim might usually undermine my authority, but trust me my /nom/, this is no jest, no fairy tale, just a plainly odd story told in flowery prose. So, I have a really shitty diet. I get big bags of chips almost every day and drink 4-5 cans of pop a day, plus chocolate and ice cream very frequently. It's also non uncommon for me to eat fast food for dinner, and I usually only make extremely processed frozen food like jalapeno poppers and mozzarella sticks. I feel like shit all the time, but it's really hard to break this habit.

I know a lot of it is psychological, but I am wondering if there are any types of healthy foods that can help curb cravings of junk food or that can replace them? I get altogether too much sugar and salt in my diet and need to start eating better but I want to give my brain the illusion that it's still getting the things it wants without further poisoning my body.

tldr I need to kick my terrible junk food habits, what kinds of foods can I eat that will help curb cravings or replace bad food?

OP start off by drinking ONLY water, fuck soda and juices (fruit juices are just as sugary as sodas). Be a man and chase your liquor with a sip of water.

As for foods: raw veggies, fruits, nuts and grains. A bowl of fruits gives your brain the sugar (fructose) it craves while the fiber fills up your belly.

Look into intermittent fasting, its when you limit your eating schedule to 12/10 hours a day. Never eat an hour before you sleep. All month my eating cycle had a 12 hour window (first meal at 8am last meal before 8pm). Today im starting a 10 hour cycle with 2 big meals and a small one in the middle.

Im eating a salad and a bowl of greens rn and my hunger is satiated.

Remember, eat for nutrition not for taste. only fatties eat for taste

those little clementine oranges. Still loaded with sugar but at least it's a real fruit.

Also tortilla chips and various salsa satisfy my crunchy/salty/nothings craving well and feel better than cheetos or something.

Also, an avocado, halved with some salt&balsamic, stir and eat with spoon or chips.

So the 2 things I will say are get into cooking and eat healthier snacks. Don't think of cooking as a chore, think of it as something fun. Put on a podcast or some of your favourite music, maybe a TV show you like, and get chopping. Cooking is awesome because it's a blend of science and art. Cooking a nice meal for yourself is extremely rewarding.

Once you know how to cook, you don't have to rely on instant, processed foods and takeaway. Look up some basic curry recipes, some pasta sauce recipes, learn how to make a soup. A lot of these dishes, especially soup, are very easy to make - in addition to being cheap, tasty and healthy.

For snacks cut out the fizzy drinks/soda COMPLETELY - that stuff is so bad for you, I feel a bit sick after drinking more than 250ml. I avoid it as much as possible, the only times I'd ever really have it is if I'm stoned and hungover and I get some greasy take-away food as a comfort cure, then a sugary drink can be nice to wash it down with but even then I'd still lean towards water. When you find yourself wanting a drink just drink water, your thirst will quench and you'll find yourself saying "Oh hey, I didn't need a fizzy drink after all. I was just thirsty".

Eat fruits instead of chocolate. I know you might feel some resistance to eating fruit, when I ate unhealthily I always thought food sounded nice but never really wanted to eat it. But when you just do it, when you just take a bite out of a nice juicy plum you'll find yourself really, really enjoying it. Eat nuts instead of chips/crisps! Way more healthy - try stick to roasted or unseasoned, but even if you eat salty ones you're at least getting the nutrients from nuts.

I mean you don't have to completely cut out all the bad crap, just think of it as a treat, and not your goddamn sustenance. Do you think our bodies were made to live off nothing sugar, salt and artificial preservatives/sweeteners? Think of how fucked your physical health will be when you're older.

I'll share with you a basic soup recipe - the great thing about soup is that it's very interchangeable, and you can make so many different types of tasty soups simply by switching the vegetable. Here - squash, carrot and sage soup.

Dice an onion and some garlic
Chop up about 3 big carrots and about 3 sticks of celery
Chop up some butternut squash into little cubes, put into a roasting dish and cover with oil, salt, pepper and plenty of sage. Toss those bitches around until well seasoned. Insert into an 200C pre-heated oven, for about 30 minutes. Take out when done.

Eat lots of fiber. Fills you up, less calories generally, and your asshole will thank you. I suggest learning to like salads, eating a handful of nuts a day, and switching to carbonated water like >>151425 suggested. Learning to enjoy cooking will help as well.

>intermittent fasting
>its when you limit your eating schedule to 12/10 hours a day.
i had no idea this was a thing. i've been unwittingly doing it for like half my life now, ever since i lost weight (went from 200lbs to 150), and despite my diet now being pretty unhealthy i haven't had a problem with my weight rebounding. i general only eat breakfast and lunch.

of course the irony is that i do this mostly because of my alcoholism (can't stand being full while drunk, and i drink errnight), so i might not be gaining weight but i'm sure my health is still awful. also i drink tons of diet soda.

oh well i have excellent health insurance.
