What is the best fast food and why is it McDonald's?

It's probably In'n Out or Shake Shack, but there are none of those around me so I'd have to say Wendy's. I'm not sure if Five Guys is fast casual or not but that would get a vote too. Oh, and Taco Bell, actually Taco Bell wins outright. It's too good.

That's a pretty disgusting amount of fries. I remember when I was a kid the local McDonald's started selling fries in their largest beverage containers because people couldn't get enough sodium and carbohydrates in a mere "large" portion.

What's disgusting about a large order of fries? You can just leave some in the pack and give it to a hobo or something. How are fucking french fries disgusting?

During afternoon hours, the McDonalds by my school used to sell a super-size cup full of fries along with a burger and drink for $2.

Theres a place called Spielburger near me in north london, i originally got a delivery from it because i thought it was a silly name, the pictures look alright, and anything else sounded unappetising at the time

it just blows shit like mcD's out the water. KFC too. I tried them both actually not tooo long ago, despite my little moral crusade. I figured i hate it, i look down on it and tell myself "its just trash" every time i walk past one and see it stuffed with people. But i guess i was curious, i wanted to see if itd be a guilty pleasure, like some sort of ecstasy of terrible foods that you relish at the time and then feel bad about a bit later, or if i actually had it pretty much pegged and wasnt just feeding myself what i needed to hear in order to distance myself from certain products/vices/people

i dunno. A big mac was wildly unsatisfying. i was like "wow, thats it?" it was just....like....it doesnt beat what you could either make at home, or get from a better burger joint, on *any* conceivable level, other than price. There was just no angle taste-wise that it appealed on

maybe its an acquired taste? Hell maybe they just dont know how to do food properly in the specific one i went to. its doubtful but i try not to be hard-nailed into my views and convictions. I can accept that something can be ethically monstrous and taste good at the same time.

Settle down, tubby. Fries are fine, but you don't need that many of them. The handful portion in the paper sleeve is enough.

That sounds about right.

Yeah we just recently got a Culvers in Dallas. It's pretty good actually. Their butter b urger is pretty tasty though I wouldn't eat there except on rare occasion.

When I've got a Whataburger nearby, I'm going with Whataburger every time.

I'm not sure on the exact ratios but they use chuck and sirloin and their blend and it definitely has a higher fat content then other places. Or maybe they don't. IDK.
They're hand pressed and cooked to order. Which isn't much of a big deal but for a fast food place it's fukken awesome. It's just a juicy fresh burger my man.
Nuthin wrong with a greasy ass burger. It just has to be done right.
nb I'm practically corporate shilling at this rate but holy shit it's so good

5 Guys is decent. Smash burger shits on them.
10 years ago 5 Guys was every fucking where. Now a lot of them are closed. Not most but a bunch of them are.
You could probably make a blend at home that replicates an American grease burger.

All you really need for good burgers are some salt and pepper with a dash of dijon/yellow mustard (not the American kind and definitely not wholegrain/seedy mustard). 5% fat beef is ideal.
Personally I like to add a bit of Econa hot pepper sauce to the mix. It doesn't make it spicy really, especially not such a small quantity, but it does make it juicier.
Always make your burgers thinnest in the centre and fatter around the edges, it cooks more evenly and doesn't end up being a dumb shape to eat. Try to keep it at about 2.5cm thick. Best is to make and shape the burgers then let them sit for at least half an hour, preferably longer.

You can put S&P on the outside of them right as you're about to add them to the skillet but that's a little excessive (if you're going to do this, do it on the side that's going to cook first only, then only add it to the other side right as you're about to flip it). You really don't need to put any oil or butter in the pan if it's a properly looked after skillet, enough of it will melt out of the meat anyway. Four minutes each side. The pan should be searing hot, you want it to hiss as soon as the meat touches the metal.

If you plan on having cheese on the burger, chuck it on as it's cooking, after you flip it at the first 4 minute mark, that way it'll melt and won't be cold/hard in the bun.

This is how I get my favourite results anyway.

Yeah you do. I don't eat it much, because I've had high blood pressure since I was 12 (AMERICA), but for as much as you regret it almost instantly after, it's often still a pretty great experience. Nothing like some McDick's french fries, with some chuggen nuggers, and a burger or sandwich of some kind.
