My Great Grandpappy's Rifle by Fucking Tillingdale - Wed, 30 Dec 2015 01:16:52 EST ID:bbSN8qRl No.41954 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

Hello. My grandfather passed away recently, and left me his father's M1903 rifle. I am told he used it to train troops in Chile during WW2. My grandfather had it restored by a gunsmith a few years ago. It still has the original cleaning kit in the flip-up butt compartment, as well as its cloth strap.

I have a few questions: how can I identify the specific model I have? What type of ammunition does it fire? Is it safe to fire at the range? I am told the gunsmith said the boring and chamber are in fantastic shape. It has a metal plate on the bottom. Is it possible/advisable to modify this to accept magazines, making it semi-automatic rather than bolt-action? Would this make me a tacticool fag ruining a piece of history?

Thoughts and opinions appreciated. I would have included a picture of it but I don't have a camera, and my phone is broken.

Yeah, you also dont need a clip you can feed in five rounds into the magazine and then chamber one. I would not modify it as it has some historical significance in your family and will be more valuable if left as is. This is assuming that its still setup like the military rifles were. On the receiver of the rifle you can look to see the manufacturer of the rifle which will also be another point in determining its worth, it should say something like Springfield or Smith Corona or some shit.

As stupid as his question was at least he hasn't demonstrated himself to be a retard who doesn't have any ability for reading comprehension, as you have.

Ah see I was also oblivious to this information. I didn't even know you could load the rounds individually lol. Hope I don't kill myself on the range with this thing. I'm familiar with pistols and semi-autos but only fired a bolt-action when I was a child, forgive my glaring ignorance.

Rally together boys, time to protect our rights!!!!!!!

Another shooting has gone down, this time in Oregon:

Obama is already talking shit.
Spread the word, unify, we need to approach this on all fronts as a collective and smash it down.

1) Gun rights are a constitutional right. Can't beat that.
2) Gun rights are necessary. Can't beat that either.
3) If you take away our guns, we will lobby, we will strike, we will shut this nation down in every nonviolent way open to us.
4) You can't beat us. Period.

What are you basing that off of? I don't think you can back up your claims of "most criminals don't have guns..."

For example, look at the UK, Australia or any other country that has a ban or prohibition on guns/firearms. Guess who has guns, the criminals, because they don't care if they are breaking the law by owning a gun.
Here is a study done by Harvard University that goes over a few known statistics relating to the ban. https://cdn1.sph.harvard.edu/wp-content/uploads/sites/1264/2012/10/bulletins_australia_spring_2011.pdf

Sadly not a lot is known about the illegal firearms there, which are all held by criminals; other than they do exist.

Oh damn, completely did not notice that I was already posting in this thread.

Back to responding! Well, I base my experience with criminals, based on my past decade of surrounding myself with criminals. Sweatty stupid mobsters (there's a reason they need a strong centralized leadership... most of them have no leadership ability beyond paying strippers and buying drinks.), run of the mill thugs, tons of drug dealers (no shit, drug dealers! WoooOOooOOoo ), and for some fucking reason, muggers seem to like me... I donno where I was going with this exactly, but I've known enough criminals in the USA to know that there's maybe 1gun for every dozen people who want to use it, and it'll get traded and tossed around until it's lost or ditched.

Of course, there's 10guns in the hand of everyone who will NEVER use the thing, lol. Fucking Merica.

Sup. I don't have any gun forum accounts so this is the best place I can do.

I recently got a Vortex Spitfire 1x for really cheap and I'm having some really weird issues. I've never used tactical optics or any of that shit so if I put this on a rifle I want irons to be good and the optic just there as an aid. So this is what is going on that is fucking with my brain.

>Sight rifle's irons in.
>Apply scope.
>Sight in scope.
>Try iron sights as co-witness.
>Can't hit shit.
>Zero Irons with optic on the rifle.
>Can't hit shit with irons when I take optic off.

Obviously this is making the optic worthless because if it broke and I had to take it off I would be fucked because I would have to rezero or if it broke but I could still look through it I would be fucked if the irons were zero'd with it off. If that makes sense....

Anyone know what is going on here? I'm guessing it is an issue with parallax. While it is "non magnified" it is still 1x scope and the front sight is slightly out of focus. Maybe the slight magnification is messing with the irons alignment? I don't know how the red dot's with magnifiers and all that tacticool shit works so I don't know if they have these problems as well.

Not sure what you asking...

I sighted the irons in. They are accurate and hit where I am aiming.

I added the scope, and if looking through it, using iron sights, they are about 3 feet to the left or right, (Can't remember) when I shoot using irons through the optic. If I sight in the irons so that they are on target, looking through the scope; they are inaccurate with the scope taken off.

You're home in your living room enjoying a nice movie on HBO.

Someone breaks in with intent to rob you.

He enters the living room and you, being a well armed supporter of the 2nd Amendment, unholster your weapon, swing around from your couch and land one perfectly placed shot in his mouth.

Now, the intruder is laying propped up on your wall blood pooling underneath his body. His jaw is halfway hanging off his face, he's gurgling and blood is spurting out of the open wound on his face, mixing with saliva and other fluids from his now gaped open mouth.

He's still alive! Albeit soon to depart this world.

My question to you is this: Do you finish him off? Put him out of his own misery for his own sake? He's clearly no longer a threat, and any forensic pathologist would be able to determine the second bullet was not necessary.

Do you let this poor creature who you have brilliantly subdued with your expert marksmanship and 2nd Amendment rights suffer what could be minutes of excruciating pain while you sit and watch waiting for the police to come?

You need to though or it's not going to end well for you.

A dead home invader, if you think will get you a murder charge, leave, burn your house down. You're alive, your family wasn't raped at gunpoint, that's the important thing, not this cuk legal bullshit the police will put you through.

Some cops understand the sanctity of a person's home still you know. Some do. A lot don't.

Hey /NRA/ I dont mean to make this political so i wont but I want to buy a gun because I am concerned about where this country is headed and I am starting to feel unsafe.

My question is, does any gun owner here cope with severe depression or other mental instabilities? I have never been diagnosed with depression but i dont need a doctor to tell me how i feel. i want to buy a gun for self defense, but i am worried that if i hit one of my lows I might crack and put the barrel down my own throat. I have not been suicidal in years but once in a while i will have my moments. Some of my moments are drug induced (see how you feel after a month long cocaine binge), so if i were to own a gun i would cut down my drug and alcohol use to a minimum.

I dont think i would kill myself, life is starting to get pretty good, but I still have some anxiety over it because of how I used to be. Do you guys think its a bad idea for me to own a gun? I Have never attempted suicide but pulling a trigger would be pretty easy. If i do buy a gun it will be unloaded and locked in a safe while I'm at home.

i thinking about buying one of these, USP 9mm, for CC. Though I don't know how willing the Orange County Sheriff's department would be to issue a permit to a 21 year old.

I abhor this mentality. The right to bear arms is inalienable and irrespective of social class. I'm not even anti-capitalist, but this line of thinking is retarded. You think owning guns is just some cool hobby for big boys with financial stability that have proved themselves worthy of a Boomstick badge?

I'm not even poor or black, but poor people need guns the most. If anything, the wealthy white people with their gated subdivision, ADT security, and fast police response need guns the least. Cultured and well-mannered black men need guns more than anyone else. They're the most common victim of gun violence. Yet what does our country do? Brainwash blacks into thinking we need to ban guns, pass laws that prohibit importation of cheap firearms (oh no Saturday night specials), and require additional fees for permits/licensing that the working poor can't afford.

When I was much younger at 18 I scrounged up $180 from a summer job and bought my first gun, a used as fuck Taurus j frame 5 shot .38spl. It was not a looker, and I bought from a private sale. It worked fine but was extremely heavy. I couldn't afford much else; I had to bargain for 5 hollow points because we couldn't afford a whole box along with all of our bills at the time (hollow points are around $1 each, and I figured 5 shots of performance followed by a speed loader filled with target ammo was better than a box of bullets sans speed loader under the bed). I only had the chance to shoot maybe 25 rounds through it. Our college town was a total dump full of crime and problems. I wanted my gf (now wife) to at least have something in case I wasn't home.

I was staying over at my gf's tiny ghetto apartment, and at around 1am someone broke the sliding glass door. They shattered the whole thing. I ran downstairs and saw at least two people in the dark, one was pulling at a TV plugged into an original xbox and the other guy was just walking in my direction, toward the stairs. I don't think they even saw me.

I only fired one shot, I was super nervous and inexperienced, and all of them ran out fast as fuck. As far as I know I didn't hit anyone, but they were coming towards the stairs man, with two college-aged women sleeping upstairs. Who knows what the fuck could have happened if there was up to 3 guys. That TV was our only luxury item besides our laptop; if it had been stolen we would have been totally screwed on our quality of life.

Now it's years later, we have more money and a few firearms but good quality, gained lots of experience from practice at the range, enjoy trap and skeet, live in a nicer area, attend additional schooling, and yet I haven't had to fire a round at another human being ever since. Not that I haven't had to use it in self-defense since then, but I've never discharged another round at a living target.

tl;dr, but nobody in this thread is saying that poor people don't deserve the second amendment or whatever else you think this thread is about. This thread has been entirely about how much of a piece of shit hi points are and how for even just a little bit more money you can get a much, much better gun.

Hey guys. I've been thinking about buying a pistol for self defense for a long time. Especially now following a string of robberies and violent crimes not too far from my neighborhood.

When I was 16, I was experiencing suicidal thoughts and I willingly admitted myself to a psychiatric ward. I'm in my 20's now and I realize that it was all just whiney bullshit and I have ABSOLUTELY no intention of harming myself or others. I am not currently, nor have I ever, been on any antidepressants or other medications to manage my depression. I just grew up and got over it.

My question is whether or not this teenage episode would impact my ability to buy a pistol now. Any advice would be very much appreciated!

It could be, there are a lot of lawyers who will help you expunge a record if it's necessary.

Voluntary commitment should be a sealed record but I'm unsure, a lot of laws on the books are very police-state where self incrimination rules the day.

You were also a minor so there's that, if anything it being an actual impediment to ownership should be easy to expunge given the circumstances (minor age, voluntary commitment)

What state are you in? Some states won't even take a full psychiatric insanity record as a disqualification, others are very nitpicky and into the whole "we need mental health checks" mantra (which I personally don't believe in, shooting sprees happen not because of mental health or firearm availability, they happen because of our disjointed society being victimized by psyops).

Your odds look pretty good, I'd say you'll be buying in no time.

Get in contact with a 2nd amendment lawyer asap if you have doubts or problems. Just go into a shop and try to buy one first.

Op the information we need at the moment is where do you live like what country and if it happens to be USA what state

that is the sort of information that will impact whether or not you can buy a firearm

I personally get so weary of seeing these types of threads here

As for the United States of America for the most part the only thing that will prevent you from buying a fire arm is a felony.

Background checks for mentally stable or unstable people in USA for the most part is nonexistent.

and even if you do get flagged they are gonna pull the file and put you on a three day delay while it goes under review its not like the police are gonna show up and kick you in the nuts (unless your a felon)

also you dont have to buy a gun from a licensed dealer even if you get stopped through that method in most places in the USA you can just buy a gun private sale from another citizen there is no background check just a bill of sale.
Polly Crablingwill - Thu, 24 Dec 2015 00:06:46 EST ID:5Hthn0xK No.41944 Ignore Report Quick Reply
OP here. Sorry for the delayed response, guys. For those of you who asked, yes I am a US citizen and I live in Pennsylvania. Also, the worst crime currently on my record is a speeding ticket. I formerly had a juvenile record which included a citation for misdemeanor possession of cannabis. I never actually took legal action to get it expunged, but I had an internship in the pediatric wing of a local hospital a few years ago which required me to get numerous clearances and background checks from the local police department, the FBI, etc. and I had absolutely no issues getting accepted for the internship so I am sure that my criminal record is totally clean. Like i said, my concern was more about my mental health coming into question if I went to go buy a gun. What you guys have said so far is very promising, so I think I'll just stop pussyfooting around and go to a gun shop to get the process started. Thanks guys!
Rebecca Blytheman - Thu, 24 Dec 2015 09:38:28 EST ID:NGqq+rMd No.41946 Ignore Report Quick Reply

Here's the problem: you need it expunged. For firearm purchases, sealed is not good enough.

ATF form 4473 requires you to disclose whether you have been committed to a mental institution, either voluntarily or involuntarily. So either you are going to:

A) Answer yes and be denied purchase, or

B) Answer no, be committing a felony for providing false statements on ATF 4473, and be subsequently caught when you fail your NICB check

You need to have the record expunged. Firearm background checks are different from security background checks for employment. You can still fail a firearm background check for a mental health commitment, either voluntary or involuntary, even if the record is sealed. This is due to ass-backwards provisions contained within 1960s era gun control legislation that was originally designed to prevent black people from being able to buy guns.

People who say "oh the US has lax gun laws" have no idea what they are talking about. The laws are incredibly strict for all the wrong reasons and having drug crimes or mental health commitment or even domestic violence infractions on your record will indeed affect your ability to be eligible to complete a firearm transaction, even if they are on your juvenile record, and even if they are sealed.

I'd suggest you talk to an attorney before attempting to do a purchase, because your current legal state may cause you to be ineligible.

A friend of mine is interested in selling me his bushmaster AR chambered in 7.62x39 for $400. Considering I paid $500 for a new in box century arms ak47 five years ago (I sold it) I'm assuming this is a good deal, but I don't know much about AR's other than that I've heard bushmaster is a good brand. It's registered and mint condition, but I don't know if I should spend $400 on that, or just pick up an SKS for $300.

I'm talking RPG's
Mounted machineguns

Most I've ever seen was a fully auto AK. Makes me sad :(

Converse to the purpose of the thread: the most neutered, ppathetic weapon I've ever seen a civilian own.

>be in california of course
>be at local outdoor shooting range
>shootan my guns havin a grand ol time
>look a couple of lanes to my left
>notice a strange looking weapon being operated by a guy my age, mid twenties
>intrigued by the strange look of this weapon so I walk over and strike up a conversation about the weapon
>it's an ar-15... of a sort
>it has a monte carlo stock
>old m16a1 style fore-end
>the upper receiver looks kind of fucked up and enlarged, with openings on either side
>the magazine well has no magazine in it and is fucked up looking and sort of sealed off with shoddy looking welding and pieces of metal sticking out
>"so ... what sort of rifle is that?"
>"oh this, it's a modified such and such blah blah"

The guy could have 100 round belts at home And it wouldn't be hard to make the AR Full auto and but on a pistol grip. I bet he has everything lying around out home ready to go when the Chinese invade or something.

Used to work at a class III dealer in VA. We sold a thompson M1, an MP5, an M60, an M2, but the crown jewel we sold was a prototype 90mm anti-tank gun called the T8. Here's a pic of a non-functioning one, but the one we transferred was the real deal, you can see videos of it on youtube. It sold most recently for 250k.

What kind of qualifications does someone need to buy an anti tank gun?

Which has a more guarenteed lethality. by BigD !ILyQ.5aLFE - Thu, 03 Dec 2015 17:45:02 EST ID:QBe8PIBM No.41847 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

This is all hypothetical. I am debating a friend of mine. Which one of these would you say would have a more guarenteed lethality both fired at point blank range in the temple.

1 .357mag bullet
2. 5 .22lr bullets fired from a Pepperbox vollygun pistol that can fire 6 at once.

I think it is definatly the 6 .22lrs. Especially considering they can usually penetrate the skill fine but not exit, so they bounce around.

Pic not related.

Lol very no

You get more energy with the .357

Besides, you don't shoot people in the temple. People shoot themselves there and end up just blowing their eyes out and destroying their face all the time.

Well this is about a hypothetical suicide anyway. But that is because people are dumbasses and aim the gun forward so it comes out the front instead of slightly bsckwards.

Dorner,Brevik,Roof why all the mistakes by Emma Seshkure - Sun, 28 Jun 2015 23:05:32 EST ID:JZ6cIzgb No.40849 Ignore Report Reply Quick Reply

Im from LA and in the wake of Roof shooting up the black Chruch,I'm pretty pissed I envy that little fuck a bit (hes not dead but in custody); they probably deserved it too. I was supporting the convicts who escaped from state prison in New York as well. However they made a bad decision heading towards Canada, they should have went South South West. One of the escapees died (good on him) the other was shot and re-captured (sad sack of bones).

However this about me and my support for people like this. Particularly Christopher Dorner. My mothers-ex was an aquaintance of Dorner, and I didnt have much of a perspective; besides oh shit this guy is cleaning up. But in hindshight and recent events he shouldnt have been going after fellow cops. For two reasons.

One you kill or assault a cop:
>No stone goes unturned.
>They all come looking for you.

For aome reason all these shooters killers fuck their own causes. Dorner shot other cops and their famillies, when he should have been targeting policy makers; elected officials. Brevik killed mostly white Norwegians, instead of hitting a Mosque on Ramadan. Roof landed himself in jail instead of landing a six figure job and having five white children that could go onto hreatness or at least mediocrity. Why do we men with arms and a cause fail?

Well considering that they were part of a political party indoctrination camp, chances are they would and will be politically active.

Oh hey then with the same reasoning we could just wait and see if any ISIS member turns out to be the next Ghandi or something.

Lol wtf would lead you to believe that we would have or even know about anything like that? If anything this is more of a history question than anything that has to do with weapons. And further more the time it took you to make this post you could of oh I dont know maybe googled it?
